Abstract:In this short note we present a far generalization of the following very well-known assertion: assume that we have two orthonormal sequences in a Hilbert space and these sequences are quadratically close to each other. Then if one of these sequences is a basis in the Hilbert space then so is the other one.

Abstract:A $f\colon\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}$ is called Hamel function if its graph is a Hamel basis of the linear space $\mathbb{R}^2$ over rationals. We construct, assuming CH, a free group of the size $2^\mathfrak{c}$ contained in the class of all Hamel functions, with the indentity function included. This answers, consistently, a question posed recently by M. Lichman, M. Pawlikowski, S. Smolarek, and J. Swaczyna.

Exploring K-Riesz and K-g-Riesz bases in the context of Hilbert pro-C*-modules

Abstract:In the present research, we embark on a comprehensive inquiry into K-Riesz bases and K-g Riesz bases as they manifest within pro-C*-Hilbert modules. Adopting a unique approach, we interpret the structure of K-Riesz bases through the lens of a bounded below operator, complemented by the prototypical orthonormal basis of the Hilbert module X. In parallel, our investigation elucidates nuanced traits and pioneering perspectives of K-g-Riesz bases, steered by a bounded surjective operator and a corresponding g-orthonormal basis for X. As a culmination of our efforts, we present an enriched understanding of the dynamic interactions between K-Riesz bases and K-g-Riesz bases in this mathematical context.

Abstract:Given a subspace $U\subset\mathbb{C}[x_1,\dots,x_n]_d$ we consider the closure of the image of the rational map $\mathbb{P}^{n-1}\dashrightarrow\mathbb{P}^{\dim U-1}$ given by $U$. Its coordinate ring is isomorphic to $\bigoplus_{i\ge 0} U^i$ where $U^i$ is the degree $i$ component. We consider the Hilbert function of this algebra in the case where $U$ contains a regular sequence, equivalently the map is a morphism, and find lower bounds for the dimension of the degree 2 component. We apply our bounds to study the boundary structure of certain convex sets, called Gram spectrahedra, which are linked to sum of squares representations of non-negative polynomials.

Abstract:We study a special class of (real or complex) robust Hadamard matrices, distinguished by the property that their projection onto a $2$-dimensional subspace forms a Hadamard matrix. It is shown that such a matrix of order $n$ exists, if there exists a skew Hadamard matrix of this size. This is the case for any even dimension $n\le 20$, and for these dimensions we demonstrate that a bistochastic matrix $B$ located at any ray of the Birkhoff polytope, (which joins the center of this body with any permutation matrix), is unistochastic. An explicit form of the corresponding unitary matrix $U$, such that $B_{ij}=|U_{ij}|^2$, is determined by a robust Hadamard matrix. These unitary matrices allow us to construct a family of orthogonal bases in the composed Hilbert space of order $n \times n$. Each basis consists of vectors with the same degree of entanglement and the constructed family interpolates between the product basis and the maximally entangled basis.

Abstract:We study the orthogonal complement of the Hilbert subspace considered by by van Eijndhoven and Meyers in [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 146 (1990), no. 1, 89--98} and associated to holomorphic Hermite polynomials. A polyanalytic orthonormal basis is given and the explicit expressions of the corresponding reproducing kernel functions and Segal--Bargmann integral transforms are provided.

Higher Specht bases and $q$-series for the cohomology rings of certain Hessenberg varieties

Abstract:It is conjectured (following the Stanley-Stembridge conjecture) that the cohomology rings of regular semisimple Hessenberg varieties yield permutation representations, but the decompositions of the modules are only known in some cases. For the Hessenberg function $h=(h(1),n,\ldots,n)$, the structure of the cohomology ring was determined by Abe, Horiguchi, and Masuda in 2017. We define two new bases for this cohomology ring, one of which is a higher Specht basis, and the other of which is a permutation basis. We also examine the transpose Hessenberg variety, indexed by the Hessenberg function $h' = ((n-1)^{n-m},n^m)$, and show that analogous results hold. Further, we give combinatorial bijections between the monomials in the new basis and sets of $P$-tableaux, motivated by the work of Gasharov, illustrating the connections between the $\mathfrak{S}_n$ action on these cohomology rings and the Schur expansion of chromatic symmetric functions.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate a new notion of bases in Hilbert spaces and similar to fusion frame theory we introduce fusion bases theory in Hilbert spaces. We also introduce a new definition of fusion dual sequence associated with a fusion basis and show that the operators of a fusion dual sequence are continuous projections. Next we define the fusion biorthogonal sequence, Bessel fusion basis, Hilbert fusion basis and obtain some characterizations of them. we study orthonormal fusion systems and Riesz fusion bases for Hilbert spaces. we consider the stability of fusion bases under small perturbations. We also generalized a result of Paley-Wiener [13] to the situation of fusion basis.

Abstract:In this paper we deal with a scale of reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces $H^{(n)}_2$, $n\ge 0$, which are linear subspaces of the classical Hilbertian Hardy space on the right-hand half-plane $\mathbb{C}^+$. They are obtained as ranges of the Laplace transform in extended versions of the Paley-Wiener theorem which involve absolutely continuous functions of higher degree. An explicit integral formula is given for the reproducing kernel $K_{z,n}$ of $H^{(n)}_2$, from which we can find the estimate $\Vert K_{z,n}\Vert\sim\vert z\vert^{-1/2}$ for $z\in\mathbb{C}^+$. Then composition operators $C_\varphi :H_2^{(n)} \to H_2^{(n)}$, $C_\varphi f=f\circ \varphi $, on these spaces are discussed, giving some necessary and some sufficient conditions for analytic maps $\varphi: \mathbb{C}^+\to \mathbb{C}^+$ to induce bounded composition operators.

Abstract:This note is purely expository. In the course of the Kolmogorov-Arnold solution of Hilbert's 13th problem on superpositions there appeared the notion of basic embedding. A subset K of R^2 is basic if for each continuous function f:K->R there exist continuous functions g,h:R->R such that f(x,y)=g(x)+h(y) for each point (x,y) in K. We present descriptions of basic subsets of the plane (with a proof) and description of graphs basically embeddable into the plane (solutions of Arnold's and Sternfeld's problems). We present some results and open problems on the smooth version of the property of being basic. This note is accessible to undergraduates and could be an interesting easy reading for mature mathematicians. The two sections can be read independently on each other.

Abstract:In this paper we consider certain closed subvarieties of the flag variety, known as Hessenberg varieties. These varieties arise in representation theory, algebraic geometry, and combinatorics. We give a connectedness criterion for semisimple Hessenberg varieties that generalizes a criterion given by Anderson and Tymoczko. It also generalizes results of Iveson in type A which prove that all Hessenberg varieties satisfying this criterion are connected. We then show that nilpotent Hessenberg varieties are rationally connected.

Abstract:Abstract Let be a finite‐dimensional vector space equipped with a nondegenerate Hermitian form over a field . Let be the graph with vertex set the one‐dimensional nondegenerate subspaces of and adjacency relation given by orthogonality. We give a complete description of when is connected in terms of the dimension of and the size of the ground field . Furthermore, we prove that if , then the clique complex of is simply connected. For finite fields , we also compute the eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix of . Then, by Garland's method, we conclude that for all , where is a field of characteristic 0, provided that . Under these assumptions, we deduce that the barycentric subdivision of deformation retracts to the order complex of the certain rank selection of that is Cohen–Macaulay over . Finally, we apply our results to the Quillen poset of elementary abelian ‐subgroups of a finite group and to the study of geometric properties of the poset of nondegenerate subspaces of and the poset of orthogonal decompositions of .

Abstract:In a recent paper we used a basic decomposition property of polyanalytic functions of order $2$ in one complex variable to characterize solutions of the classical $\overline{\partial}$-problem for given analytic and polyanalytic data. Our approach suggested the study of a special reproducing kernel Hilbert space that we call the Hörmander-Fock space that will be further investigated in this paper. The main properties of this space are encoded in a specific moment sequence denoted by $\eta=(\eta_n)_{n\geq 0}$ leading to a special entire function $\mathsf{E}(z)$ that is used to express the kernel function of the Hörmander-Fock space. We present also an example of a special function belonging to the class ML introduced recently by Alpay et al. and apply a Bochner-Minlos type theorem to this function, thus motivating further connections with the theory of stochastic processes.

Abstract:We show that the Hilbert space with basis indexed by infinite permutations and the cohomology ring of the infinite flag variety can be seen as representations of the Heisenberg algebra, which are isomorphic using the back-stable Schubert polynomials. We give a model for infinite permutations as certain two dimensional fermions, generalizing the Maya diagram construction for partitions. Under this framework, the pipedream model for Schubert polynomials can be viewed as the Hamiltonian time evolution of the 2D fermions.

Global and Local Nilpotent Bases of Matrices

Abstract:In studying the unusual properties of a special Witt basis of a Clifford geometric algebra with a Lorentz metric, a new concept of local duality makes it possible to define any real geometric algebra by complexifying this structure. Whereas a global basis of Witt null vectors is defined in terms of a pair of correlated Grassmann algebras in a geometric algebra of neutral signature, the special Witt basis of a Lorentz geometric algebra is defined in terms of a single Grassmann algebra. The relationship between these different concepts of duality, and their matrix representations, is studied in terms of simple examples. A surprising connection is exhibited between discrete Fourier and Wavelet transforms and the concept of local duality.

Beurling's Theorem for Valuation Hilbert Modules and Several Complex Variables

Abstract:We develop a theory of Valuation Hilbert Modules and prove a version of Beurling's theorem for these. Then we apply our version of Beurling's theorem to obtain complete descriptions of the closed invariant subspaces of a number of Hilbert spaces of analytic functions in several complex variables, including $H^2$ of the polydisk the ball, and bounded symmetric domains, and weighted $A^2$ spaces on complex analytic manifolds.

Main tools in the study of admissible vectors have been Plancherel and central integral decomposition, of applicability only under certain separability and semifiniteness restrictions. In this work we present a study of admissible vectors in terms of convolution Hilbert algebras valid for arbitrary unitary representations of general locally compact groups.

Hilbert band complexes and their applications

Abstract:The study of band connectivity is a fundamental problem in condensed matter physics. Here, we develop a new method for analyzing band connectivity, which completely solves the outstanding questions of the reducibility and decomposition of band complexes. By translating the symmetry conditions into a set of band balance equations, we show that all possible band structure solutions can be described by a positive affine monoid structure, which has a unique minimal set of generators, called Hilbert basis. We show that Hilbert basis completely determine whether a band complex is reducible and how it can be decomposed. The band complexes corresponding to Hilbert basis vectors, termed as Hilbert band complexes (HBCs), can be regarded as elementary building blocks of band structures. We develop algorithms to construct HBCs, analyze their graph features, and merge them into large complexes. We find some interesting examples, such as HBCs corresponding to complete bipartite graphs, and complexes which can grow without bound by successively merging a HBC.
