Abstract:Almost everywhere convergence on the solution of Schrödinger equation is an important problem raised by Carleson in harmonic analysis. In recent years, this problem was essentially solved by building the sharp $L^p$-estimate of Schrödinger maximal function. Du-Guth-Li in \cite{DGL} proved the sharp $L^p$-estimates for all $p \geq 2$ in $\mathbb{R}^{2+1}$. Du-Zhang in \cite{DZ} proved the sharp $L^2$-estimate in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ with $n \geq 3$, but for $p>2$ the sharp $L^p$-estimate of Schrödinger maximal function is still unknown. In this paper, we obtain partial results on this problem by using polynomial partitioning.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove Strichartz estimates for many body Schrödinger equations in the periodic setting, specifically on tori $\mathbb{T}^d$, where $d\geq 3$. The results hold for both rational and irrational tori, and for small interacting potentials in a certain sense. Our work is based on the standard Strichartz estimate for Schrödinger operators on periodic domains, as developed in Bourgain-Demeter \cite{BD}. As a comparison, this result can be regarded as a periodic analogue of Hong \cite{hong2017strichartz} though we do not use the same perturbation method. We also note that the perturbation method fails due to the derivative loss property of the periodic Strichartz estimate.

Abstract:This article is the continuation of the work [DK] where we had proved maximal estimates $$\left\|\sup_{t > 0} |m(tA)f| \right\|_{L^p(\Omega,Y)} \leq C \|f\|_{L^p(\Omega,Y)}$$ for sectorial operators $A$ acting on $L^p(\Omega,Y)$ ($Y$ being a UMD lattice) and admitting a Hörmander functional calculus(a strengthening of the holomorphic $H^\infty$ calculus to symbols $m$ differentiable on $(0,\infty)$ in a quantified manner), and $m : (0, \infty) \to \mathbb{C}$ being a Hörmander class symbol with certain decay at $\infty$.In the present article, we show that under the same conditions as above, the scalar function $t \mapsto m(tA)f(x,\omega)$ is of finite $q$-variation with $q > 2$, a.e. $(x,\omega)$.This extends recent works by [BMSW,HHL,HoMa1,HoMa,JSW,LMX] who have considered among others $m(tA) = e^{-tA}$ the semigroup generated by $-A$.As a consequence, we extend estimates for spherical means in euclidean space from [JSW] to the case of UMD lattice-valued spaces.A second main result yields a maximal estimate $$\left\|\sup_{t > 0} |m(tA) f_t| \right\|_{L^p(\Omega,Y)} \leq C \|f_t\|_{L^p(\Omega,Y(\Lambda^\beta))}$$ for the same $A$ and similar conditions on $m$ as above but with $f_t$ depending itself on $t$ such that $t \mapsto f_t(x,\omega)$ belongs to a Sobolev space $\Lambda^\beta$ over $(\mathbb{R}_+, \frac{dt}{t})$.We apply this to show a maximal estimate of the Schrödinger (case $A = -\Delta$) or wave (case $A = \sqrt{-\Delta}$) solution propagator $t \mapsto \exp(itA)f$.Then we deduce from it variants of Carleson's problem of pointwise convergence [Car]\[ \exp(itA)f(x,\omega) \to f(x,\omega) \text{ a. e. }(x,\omega) \quad (t \to 0+)\]for $A$ a Fourier multiplier operator or a differential operator on an open domain $\Omega \subseteq \mathbb{R}^d$ with boundary conditions.

Abstract:The goal of this article is to obtain observability estimates for Schr{ö}dinger equations in the plane R 2. More precisely, considering a 2$\pi$Z 2-periodic potential V $\in$ L $\infty$ (R 2), we prove that the evolution equation i$\partial$tu = --$\Delta$u + V (x)u, is observable from any 2$\pi$Z 2-periodic measurable set, in any small time T > 0. We then extend Ta{ü}ffer's recent result [T{ä}u22] in the two-dimensional case to less regular observable sets and general bounded periodic potentials. The methodology of the proof is based on the use of the Floquet-Bloch transform, Strichartz estimates and semiclassical defect measures for the obtention of observability inequalities for a family of Schr{ö}dinger equations posed on the torus R 2 /2$\pi$Z 2 .

Abstract:We prove local well-posedness for the periodic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which is (L^2) critical, in Fourier-Lebesgue spaces which scale like ({H}^s({mathbb {T}})) for (s>0). Our result is optimal in the sense that it covers the full subcritical regime. In particular we close the existing gap in the subcritical theory by improving the result of Grünrock and Herr (SIAM J Math Anal 39(6):1890–1920, 2008), which established local well-posedness in Fourier-Lebesgue spaces which scale like ({H}^s({mathbb {T}})) for (s >frac{1}{4}). We achieve this result by a delicate analysis of the structure of the solution and the construction of an adapted nonlinear submanifold of a suitable function space. Together these allow us to construct the unique solution to the given subcritical data. This constructive procedure is inspired by the theory of para-controlled distributions developed by Gubinelli et al. (Forum Math Pi, 3:75, 2015) and Catellier and Chouk (Ann Probab 46(5):2621–2679, 2018) in the context of stochastic PDE. Our proof and results however, are purely deterministic.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the vector-valued Schrödinger operator $-\Delta + V$, where the potential term $V$ is a matrix-valued function whose entries belong to $L^1_{\rm loc}(\mathbb{R}^d)$ and, for every $x\in\mathbb{R}^d$, $V(x)$ is a symmetric and nonnegative definite matrix, with non positive off-diagonal terms and with eigenvalues comparable each other. For this class of potential terms we obtain maximal inequality in $L^1(\mathbb{R}^d,\mathbb{R}^m).$ Assuming further that the minimal eigenvalue of $V$ belongs to some reverse Hölder class of order $q\in(1,\infty)\cup\{\infty\}$, we obtain maximal inequality in $L^p(\mathbb{R}^d,\mathbb{R}^m)$, for $p$ in between $1$ and some $q$.

Abstract:For Schrödinger type operators in one dimension, we consider the relationship between the convergence rate and the regularity for initial data. By establishing the associated frequency-localized maximal estimates, we prove sharp results up to the endpoints. The optimal range for the wave operator in all dimensions is also obtained.

Abstract:We propose a level set method for the semiclassical limit of the Schrödinger equation with discontinuous potentials. The discontinuities in the potential corresponds to potential barriers, at which incoming waves can be partially transmitted and reflected. Previously such a problem was handled by Jin and Wen using the Liouville equation – which arises as the semiclassical limit of the Schrödinger equation – with an interface condition to account for partial transmissions and reflections (S. Jin, X. Wen, SIAM J. Num. Anal. 44 (2006) 1801–1828). However, the initial data are Dirac-delta functions which are difficult to approximate numerically with a high accuracy. In this paper, we extend the level set method introduced in (S. Jin, H. Liu, S. Osher, R. Tsai, J. Comp. Phys. 210 (2005) 497–518) for this problem. Instead of directly discretizing the Delta functions, our proposed method decomposes the initial data into finite sums of smooth functions that remain smooth in finite time along the phase flow, and hence can be solved much more easily using conventional high order discretization schemes.
Counterexamples and weak (1,1) estimates of wave operators for fourth-order Schrödinger operators in dimension three

Abstract:This paper is dedicated to investigating the $L^p$-bounds of wave operators $W_\pm(H,\Delta^2)$ associated with fourth-order Schrödinger operators $H=\Delta^2+V$ on $\mathbb{R}^3$. We consider that real potentials satisfy $|V(x)|\lesssim \langle x\rangle^{-\mu}$ for some $\mu>0$. A recent work by Goldberg and Green \cite{GoGr21} has demonstrated that wave operators $W_\pm(H,\Delta^2)$ are bounded on $L^p(\mathbb{R}^3)$ for all $1<p<\infty$ under the condition that $\mu>9$, and zero is a regular point of $H$. In this paper, we aim to further establish endpoint estimates for $W_\pm(H,\Delta^2)$ in two significant ways. First, we provide counterexamples that illustrate the unboundedness of $W_\pm(H,\Delta^2)$ on the endpoint spaces $L^1(\mathbb{R}^3)$ and $L^\infty(\mathbb{R}^3)$, even for non-zero compactly supported potentials $V$. Second, we establish weak (1,1) estimates for the wave operators $W_\pm(H,\Delta^2)$ and their dual operators $W_\pm(H,\Delta^2)^*$ in the case where zero is a regular point and $\mu>11$. These estimates depend critically on the singular integral theory of Calderón-Zygmund on a homogeneous space $(X,d\omega)$ with a doubling measure $d\omega$.

Abstract:This is a continuation of our previous research about an oscillatory integral operator on compact manifolds . We prove the sharp - boundedness on the maximal operator for all $0<p<1$ . As applications, we first prove the sharp - boundedness on the maximal operator corresponding to the Riesz means associated with the Schrödinger type group and obtain the almost everywhere convergence of for all . Also, we are able to obtain the convergence speed of a combination operator from the solutions of the Cauchy problem of fractional Schrödinger equations. Abstract:The limiting absorption principle asserts that if H is a suitable Schrödinger operator, and f lives in a suitable weighted L2 space (namely H0,1/2+σ$${H^{0, 1/2 + \sigma}}$$ for some σ>0$${\sigma > 0}$$), then the functions R(λ+iε)f:=(H-λ-iε)-1f$${R(\lambda + i \varepsilon) f := (H - \lambda - i \varepsilon)^{-1} f}$$ converge in another weighted L2 space H0,-1/2-σ$${H^{0, -1/2 - \sigma}}$$ to the unique solution u of the Helmholtz equation (H-λ)u=f$${(H - \lambda) u = f}$$ which obeys the Sommerfeld outgoing radiation condition. In this paper, we investigate more quantitative (or effective) versions of this principle, for the Schrödinger operator on asymptotically conic manifolds with short-range potentials, and in particular consider estimates of the form‖R(λ+iε)f‖H0,-1/2-σ≤C(λ,H)‖f‖H0,1/2+σ.$$\| R(\lambda + i \varepsilon) f \|_{H^{0, -1/2 - \sigma}} \leq C(\lambda, H) \| f \|_{H^{0, 1/2 + \sigma}}.$$We are particularly interested in the exact nature of the dependence of the constants C(λ,H)$${C(\lambda, H)}$$ on both λ$${\lambda}$$ and H. It turns out that the answer to this question is quite subtle, with distinctions being made between low energies λ≪1$${\lambda \ll 1}$$, medium energies λ∼1$${\lambda \sim 1}$$, and large energies λ≫1$${\lambda \gg 1}$$, and there is also a non-trivial distinction between “qualitative” estimates on a single operator H (possibly obeying some spectral condition such as non-resonance, or a geometric condition such as non-trapping), and “quantitative” estimates (which hold uniformly for all operators H in a certain class). Using elementary methods (integration by parts and ODE techniques), we give some sharp answers to these questions. As applications of these estimates, we present a global-in-time local smoothing estimate and pointwise decay estimates for the associated time-dependent Schrödinger equation, as well as an integrated local energy decay estimate and pointwise decay estimates for solutions of the corresponding wave equation, under some additional assumptions on the operator H.

Abstract:In this paper, we study Strichartz estimates for the Schrödinger equation on a metric cone $X$, where $X=C(Y)=(0,\infty)_r\times Y$ and the cross section $Y$ is a $(n-1)$-dimensional closed Riemannian manifold $(Y,h)$. For the metric $g$ on $X$ given by $g=dr^2+r^2h$, let $\Delta_g$ be the positive Friedrichs extension Laplacian on $X$ and $V=V_0 r^{-2}$ where $V_0\in\CC^\infty(Y)$ is a real function such that the operator $P:=\Delta_h+V_0+(n-2)^2/4$ is a strictly positive operator on $L^2(Y)$. We establish the full range of global-in-time Strichartz estimates without loss for the Schrödinger equation associated with the operator $\LL_V=\Delta_g+V_0 r^{-2}$ including the endpoint estimate both in homogeneous and inhomogeneous cases. A new finding reveals that the range of admissible pairs at $\dot H^s$-level is influenced by the smallest eigenvalue of the operator $P$. This additionally proves the conjecture in Wang [Ann. Inst. Fourier 2006] and generalizes the results of Ford [Comm. Math. Phys. 2010] and Baskin-Marzuola-Wunsch [Contemp. Math. 2014]. As an application, we show the well-posedness theory and scattering theory for the Schrödinger equation with a cubic nonlinearity on this setting which verifies a conjecture in Baskin-Marzuola-Wunsch [Contemp. Math. 2014].

Abstract:We survey results concerning the spectral properties of limit-periodic operators. The main focus is on discrete one-dimensional Schrödinger operators, but other classes of operators, such as Jacobi and CMV matrices, continuum Schrödinger operators and multi-dimensional Schrödinger operators, are discussed as well. We explain that each basic spectral type occurs, and it does so for a dense set of limit-periodic potentials. The spectrum has a strong tendency to be a Cantor set, but there are also cases where the spectrum has no gaps at all. The possible regularity properties of the integrated density of states range from extremely irregular to extremely regular. Additionally, we present background about periodic Schrödinger operators and almost-periodic sequences. In many cases we outline the proofs of the results we present.
