Abstract:We consider a general form of L-function L(s) defined by an Euler product and satisfies several analytic assumptions. We show several asymptotic formulas for L(1) and log L(1). In particular those asymptotic formulas are valid for Dirichlet L-functions attached to almost all Dirichlet characters. Our theorems should be compared with former results due to Elliott, Montgomery and Weinberger, etc.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is the asymptotic formula for the logarithm of the general L - function at and near the specific point \(s = 1\). Specifically, the authors consider a class of L - functions \(L(s)\) in general form defined by Euler products and satisfying several analytic assumptions, and present several asymptotic formulas for \(L(1)\) and \(\log L(1)\). In particular, these asymptotic formulas are valid for Dirichlet L - functions corresponding to almost all Dirichlet characters. ### Background and Motivation 1. **Dirichlet L - functions** - For a non - principal Dirichlet character \(\chi\) modulo \(q\), the logarithm of the associated Dirichlet L - function \(L(s,\chi)\) can be expressed as: \[ \log L(1,\chi)=\sum_{p\leq y}\frac{\chi(p)}{p}+C(1,\chi)+O_{\chi}\left(\frac{1}{\log y}\right) \] where \(p\) represents a prime number, and \(C(1,\chi)=\sum_{p:\text{prime}}\sum_{k = 2}^{\infty}\frac{\chi(p^{k})}{kp^{k}}\). 2. **Dependence of the error term** - The above error term depends on \(\chi\), and thus on \(q\). An important problem is how to obtain error estimates that are uniform in \(q\). 3. **Previous work** - In 1977, Montgomery and Weinberger proved that: \[ \log L(1,\chi)=\sum_{p\leq y}\frac{\chi(p)}{p}+O_{\delta}(1) \] when \((\log q)^{\delta}\leq y\leq\log q\) and \(\chi\) is a primitive character modulo \(q\), unless \(\chi\) belongs to an exceptional set \(E(\delta)\). This set contains \(\ll Q^{\delta}\) primitive characters \(\chi\). ### Main Results 1. **Theorem 1** - For \(N\geq16\), under assumptions 1, 2 and 3, when \(7/2>\delta>0\) and \(A\geq14/\delta\), we have: \[ L(1)=\left(1+O_{\delta,A}\left(\frac{1}{\log\log N}\right)\right)\prod_{p\leq(\log N)^{A}}\left(1-\frac{c_j(p)}{p}\right)^{-1} \] 2. **Theorem 2** - For \(N\geq16\), under assumptions 1, 2 and 3, when \(7/2>\delta>0\), we have: \[ \log L(1)=\sum_{p\leq(\log N)^{14/\delta}}\frac{d_p(1)}{p}+C(1)+O_{\delta}\left(\frac{1}{\log\log N}\right) \] 3. **Theorem 3** - For \(N\geq16\), under assumptions 1, 2 and 3, when \(7/2>\delta>0\) and...
