Abstract:We study the dispersionless limit of the recently introduced Toda lattice hierarchy with constraint of type B (the B-Toda hierarchy) and compare it with that of the DKP and C-Toda hierarchies. The dispersionless limits of the B-Toda and C-Toda hierarchies turn out to be the same.

Abstract:We give a new 2+1 dimensional nonisospectral generalization of the Toda lattice hierarchy. Reductions yield a variety of new integrable hierarchies along with their underlying linear problems, including new 1+1 dimensional differential-delay hierarchies (nonisospectral and isospectral), new ordinary differential-delay hierarchies, and new discrete Painleve hierarchies. Abstract:The symmetry for two-dimensional (2D) dispersionless Toda lattice hierarchy (dTLH) is firstly derived, and then the 2D dTLH is extended based on the symmetry constraint. The commutativity of two different flows for this new hierarchy is shown, which leads to the 2D dToda lattice equation with self-consistent sources (dTLESCSs) together with its conservation equation. The hodograph solutions to 2D dTLESCSs are also given. One dimensional reduction of extended 2D dTLH is finally investigated by finding the constraint, and a one-dimensional dTLESCS is shown.

Multicomponent DKP hierarchy and its dispersionless limit

Abstract:Using the free fermions technique and bosonization rules we introduce the multicomponent DKP hierarchy as a generating bilinear integral equation for the tau-function. A number of bilinear equations of the Hirota-Miwa type are obtained as its corollaries. We also consider the dispersionless version of the hierarchy as a set of nonlinear differential equations for the dispersionless limit of logarithm of the tau-function (the $F$-function). We show that there is an elliptic curve built in the structure of the hierarchy, with the elliptic modulus being a dynamical variable. This curve can be uniformized by elliptic functions, and in the elliptic parametrization many dispersionless equations of the Hirota-Miwa type become equivalent to a single equation having a nice form.

Abstract:Using construction of logarithm of a difference operator, we present the Lax pair formalism for certain extension of the continuous version of the classical Toda lattice hierarchy, provide a well defined notion of tau function for its solutions, and give an explicit formulation of the relationship between the CP1 topological sigma model and the extended Toda hierarchy. We also establish an equivalence of the latter with certain extension of the nonlinear Schrodinger hierarchy.

Abstract:The Laplacian growth problem in the limit of zero surface tension is proved to be equivalent to finding a particular solution to the dispersionless Toda lattice hierarchy. The hierarchical times are harmonic moments of the growing domain. The Laplacian growth equation itself is the quasiclassical version of the string equation that selects the solution to the hierarchy.

Abstract:In this paper, we will concentrate on the topic of integrable discrete hierarchies in 2+ 1 dimensions, and their connection with discrete Painlev ' e hierarchies. By considering a ( 2+ 1)- dimensional nonisospectral discrete linear problem, two new ( 2+ 1)- dimensional nonisospectral integrable lattice hierarchies - the 2+ 1 nonisospectral relativistic Toda lattice hierarchy and the 2+ 1 nonisospectral negative relativistic Toda lattice hierarchy - are constructed. It is shown that the reductions of the two new 2+ 1 nonisospectral lattice hierarchies lead to the ( 2+ 1)- dimensional nonisospectral Volterra lattice hierarchy and the ( 2+ 1)dimensional nonisospectral negative Volterra lattice hierarchy. We also obtain two new ( 1+ 1)- dimensional nonisospectral integrable lattice hierarchies and two new ordinary difference hierarchies which are direct reductions of the two 2+ 1 nonisospectral integrable lattice hierarchies. One of the two difference hierarchies yields our previously obtained generalized discrete first Painlev ' e ( dP(I)) hierarchy and another one yields a generalized alternative discrete second Painleve ( alt- dP(II)) hierarchy.

Abstract:Under three relations connecting the field variables of Toda flows and that of KdV flows, we present three new sequences of combinations of the equations in the Toda hierarchy which have the KdV hierarchy as a continuous limit. Abstract:Recently the study of Fay-type identities revealed some new features of the DKP hierarchy (also known as "the coupled KP hierarchy" and "the Pfaff lattice"). Those results are now extended to a Toda version of the DKP hierarchy (tentatively called "the Pfaff-Toda hierarchy"). Firstly, an auxiliary linear problem of this hierarchy is constructed. Unlike the case of the DKP hierarchy, building blocks of the auxiliary linear problem are difference operators. A set of evolution equations for dressing operators of the wave functions are also obtained. Secondly, a system of Fay-like identities (difference Fay identities) are derived. They give a generating functional expression of auxiliary linear equations. Thirdly, these difference Fay identities have well defined dispersionless limit (dispersionless Hirota equations). As in the case of the DKP hierarchy, an elliptic curve is hidden in these dispersionless Hirota equations. This curve is a kind of spectral curve, whose defining equation is identified with the characteristic equation of a subset of all auxiliary linear equations. The other auxiliary linear equations are related to quasi-classical deformations of this elliptic spectral curve.

Abstract:We propose a method for introducing higher-order terms in the potential expansion in order to study the continuum limits of the Toda hierarchy. These higher-order terms are differential polynomials in the lower-order terms. This type of potential expansion allows using fewer equations in the Toda hierarchy to recover the KdV hierarchy by the so-called recombination method. We show that the Lax pairs, the Poisson tensors, and the Hamiltonians of the Toda hierarchy tend toward the corresponding objects of the KdV hierarchy in the continuum limit. This method gives a kind of discretization of the KdV hierarchy.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct the additional $W$-symmetry and ghost symmetry of two-lattice field integrable hierarchies. Using the symmetry constraint, we construct constrained two-lattice integrable systems which contain several new integrable difference equations. Under a further reduction, the constrained two-lattice integrable systems can be combined into one single integrable system, namely the well-known one dimensional original Toda hierarchy. We prove that the one dimensional original Toda hierarchy has a nice Block Lie symmetry.

Abstract:Bigraded Toda hierarchy $L_1^M(n)=L_2^N(n)$ is generalized to $L_1^M(n)=L_2^{N}(n)+\sum_{j\in \mathbb Z}\sum_{i=1}^{m}q^{(i)}_n\Lambda^jr^{(i)}_{n+1}$, which is the analogue of the famous constrained KP hierarchy $L^{k}= (L^{k})_{\geq0}+\sum_{i=1}^{m}q_{i}\partial^{-1}r_i$. It is known that different bosonizations of fermionic KP hierarchy will give rise to different kinds of integrable hierarchies. Starting from the fermionic form of constrained KP hierarchy, bilinear equation of this generalized bigraded Toda hierarchy (GBTH) are derived by using 2--component boson--fermion correspondence. Next based upon this, the Lax structure of GBTH is obtained. Conversely, we also derive bilinear equation of GBTH from the corresponding Lax structure.

Abstract:Starting from a more generalized discrete [Formula: see text] matrix spectral problem and using the Tu scheme, some integrable lattice hierarchies (ILHs) are presented which include the well-known relativistic Toda lattice hierarchy and some new three-field ILHs. Taking one of the hierarchies as example, the corresponding Hamiltonian structure is constructed and the Liouville integrability is illustrated. For the first nontrivial lattice equation in the hierarchy, the [Formula: see text]-fold Darboux transformation (DT) of the system is established basing on its Lax pair. By using the obtained DT, we generate the discrete [Formula: see text]-soliton solutions in determinant form and plot their figures with proper parameters, from which we get some interesting soliton structures such as kink and anti-bell-shaped two-soliton, kink and anti-kink-shaped two-soliton and so on. These soliton solutions are much stable during the propagation, the solitary waves pass through without change of shapes, amplitudes, wave-lengths and directions. Finally, we derive infinitely many conservation laws of the system and give the corresponding conserved density and associated flux formulaically.

Abstract:In this Letter, by considering two new (2+1)-dimensional discrete linear spectral problems, new (2+1)-dimensional integrable lattice hierarchies are constructed. It is shown that the two new (2+1)-dimensional integrable lattice hierarchies are extensions (to nonisospectral and (2+1)-dimensional cases) of a (1+1)-dimensional 3-field lattice hierarchy of Zhang et al. and a (1+1)-dimensional 2-field lattice hierarchy due to Merola, Ragnisco and Tu. We also obtain new (1+1)-dimensional nonisospectral lattice hierarchies which include a nonisospectral relativistic Toda lattice hierarchy.

Abstract:We first show that the quasiclassical limit of the squared eigenfunction symmetry constraint of the Sato operator for the mKP hierarchy leads to a reduction of the Sato function for the dispersionless mKP hierarchy. The constrained dispersionless mKP hierarchy (cdmKPH) is obtained and it is shown that the (2+1)-dimensional dispersionless mKP hierarchy is decomposed to two (1+1)-dimensional hierarchies of hydrodynamical type. The dispersionless mKP hierarchy with self-consistent sources (dmKPHSCS) together with its associated conservation equations are also constructed. Some solutions of dmKPESCS are obtained by hodograph reduction method.

Abstract:We propose a new multi-component two-dimensional Toda lattice hierarchy (mc2dTLH) which includes two-dimensional Toda lattice equation with self-consistent sources (2dTLSCS) as the first non-trivial equation. The Lax representations for this mc2dTLH are presented. We construct a non-auto-Bäcklund Darboux transformation (DT) for 2dTLSCS by applying the method of variation of constant (MVC) to ordinary DT of 2dTLSCS. This non-auto-Bäcklund DT enables us to obtain various solutions such as solitons, rational solutions etc., to 2dTLSCS.

Abstract:In this Letter we give a new integrable four-field lattice hierarchy, associated to a new discrete spectral problem. We obtain our hierarchy as the compatibility condition of this spectral problem and an associated equation, constructed herein, for the time-evolution of eigenfunctions. We consider reductions of our hierarchy, which also of course admit discrete zero curvature representations, in detail. We find that our hierarchy includes many well-known integrable hierarchies as special cases, including the Toda lattice hierarchy, the modified Toda lattice hierarchy, the relativistic Toda lattice hierarchy, and the Volterra lattice hierarchy. We also obtain here a new integrable two-field lattice hierarchy, to which we give the name of Suris lattice hierarchy, since the first equation of this hierarchy has previously been given by Suris. The Hamiltonian structure of the Suris lattice hierarchy is obtained by means of a trace identity formula.

Abstract:In this paper, modified Toda (mToda) equation is generalized to form an integrable hierarchy in the framework of Sato theory, which is therefore called mToda hierarchy. Inspired by the fact that Toda hierarchy is 2--component generalization of usual KP hierarchy, mToda hierarchy is constructed from bilinear equations of 2--component 1st modified KP hierarchy, where we provide the corresponding equivalence with Lax formulations. Then it is demonstrated that there are Miura links between Toda and mToda hierarchies, which means the definition of mToda hierarchy here is reasonable. Finally, Darboux transformations of the Toda and mToda hierarchies are also constructed by using the aforementioned Miura links.
