Abstract:We revisit dispersionless version of the multicomponent KP hierarchy considered previously by Takasaki and Takebe. In contrast to their study, we do not fix any distinguished component treating all of them on equal footing. We obtain nonlinear equations for dispersionless tau-function (the F-function) and represent them using the trigonometric parametrization. In this trigonometric uniformization the equations considerably simplify and acquire a nice form.

Abstract:We first show that the quasiclassical limit of the squared eigenfunction symmetry constraint of the Sato operator for the mKP hierarchy leads to a reduction of the Sato function for the dispersionless mKP hierarchy. The constrained dispersionless mKP hierarchy (cdmKPH) is obtained and it is shown that the (2+1)-dimensional dispersionless mKP hierarchy is decomposed to two (1+1)-dimensional hierarchies of hydrodynamical type. The dispersionless mKP hierarchy with self-consistent sources (dmKPHSCS) together with its associated conservation equations are also constructed. Some solutions of dmKPESCS are obtained by hodograph reduction method.

Abstract:By using pseudo-differential operators containing two derivations, we extend the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy to a certain KP-mKP hierarchy. For the KP-mKP hierarchy, we obtain its Bäcklund transformations, bilinear equations of Baker-Akhiezer functions and Hirota equations of tau functions. Moreover, we show that this hierarchy is equivalent to a subhierarchy of the dispersive Whitham hierarchy associated to the Riemann sphere with its infinity point and one movable point marked.

Multicomponent DKP hierarchy and its dispersionless limit

Abstract:Using the free fermions technique and bosonization rules we introduce the multicomponent DKP hierarchy as a generating bilinear integral equation for the tau-function. A number of bilinear equations of the Hirota-Miwa type are obtained as its corollaries. We also consider the dispersionless version of the hierarchy as a set of nonlinear differential equations for the dispersionless limit of logarithm of the tau-function (the $F$-function). We show that there is an elliptic curve built in the structure of the hierarchy, with the elliptic modulus being a dynamical variable. This curve can be uniformized by elliptic functions, and in the elliptic parametrization many dispersionless equations of the Hirota-Miwa type become equivalent to a single equation having a nice form.

Abstract:Recently the study of Fay-type identities revealed some new features of the DKP hierarchy (also known as "the coupled KP hierarchy" and "the Pfaff lattice"). Those results are now extended to a Toda version of the DKP hierarchy (tentatively called "the Pfaff-Toda hierarchy"). Firstly, an auxiliary linear problem of this hierarchy is constructed. Unlike the case of the DKP hierarchy, building blocks of the auxiliary linear problem are difference operators. A set of evolution equations for dressing operators of the wave functions are also obtained. Secondly, a system of Fay-like identities (difference Fay identities) are derived. They give a generating functional expression of auxiliary linear equations. Thirdly, these difference Fay identities have well defined dispersionless limit (dispersionless Hirota equations). As in the case of the DKP hierarchy, an elliptic curve is hidden in these dispersionless Hirota equations. This curve is a kind of spectral curve, whose defining equation is identified with the characteristic equation of a subset of all auxiliary linear equations. The other auxiliary linear equations are related to quasi-classical deformations of this elliptic spectral curve.

Abstract:We study an explicit correspondence between the integrable modified KdV hierarchy and its dual integrable modified Camassa–Holm hierarchy. A Liouville transformation between the isospectral problems of the two hierarchies also relates their respective recursion operators and serves to establish the Liouville correspondence between their flows and Hamiltonian conservation laws. In addition, a novel transformation mapping the modified Camassa–Holm equation to the Camassa–Holm equation is found. Furthermore, it is shown that the Hamiltonian conservation laws in the negative direction of the modified Camassa–Holm hierarchy are both local in the field variables and homogeneous under rescaling.

Abstract:In the recent paper [Stud. App. Math. 147 (2021) 752], squared eigenfunction symmetry constraint of the differential-difference modified Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (D$\Delta$mKP) hierarchy converts the D$\Delta$mKP system to the relativistic Toda spectral problem and its hierarchy. In this paper we introduce a new formulation of independent variables in the squared eigenfunction symmetry constraint, under which the D$\Delta$mKP system gives rise to the discrete spectral problem and a hierarchy of the differential-difference derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation of the Chen-Lee-Liu type. In addition, by introducing nonisospectral flows, two sets of symmetries of the D$\Delta$mKP hierarchy and their algebraic structure are obtained. We then present a unified continuum limit scheme, by which we achieve the correspondence of the mKP and the D$\Delta$mKP hierarchies and their integrable structures.

Abstract:The Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy has infinitely many Hamiltonian pairs, the n(th) pair of them is associated with L(n), where L is the pseudodifferential operator (PDO) [3, 4]. In this paper, by the factorization L(n) = L(n) ... L(1) with L(j), j = 1,...,n being the independent PDOs, we construct the Miura transformation for the KP, which leads to a decomposition of the second Hamiltonian structure in the n(th) pair to a direct sum. Each term in the sum is the second structure in the initial pair associated with L(j). When we impose a constraint (1.9) (i.e. a new type of reduction) to the KP hierarchy, we obtain the similar results for the constrained KP hierarchy. In particular the second Hamiltonian structure for this hierarchy is transformed to a vastly simpler one.

Abstract:Under investigation in this paper is the fractional integrable and non-integrable discrete modified Korteweg-de Vries hierarchies. The linear dispersion relations, completeness relations, inverse scattering transform, and fractional soliton solutions of the fractional integrable discrete modified Korteweg-de Vries hierarchy will be explored. The inverse scattering problem will be solved accurately by using Gel'fand-Levitan-Marchenko (GLM) equations and Riemann-Hilbert (RH) problem. The peak velocity of fractional soliton solutions will be analyzed. The numerical solutions of the non-integrable fractional averaged discrete modified Korteweg-de Vries equation which has a simpler form than the integrable one will be obtained by a split-step fourier method.

Abstract:A method is proposed in this paper to construct a new extended q-deformed KP ($q$-KP) hiearchy and its Lax representation. This new extended $q$-KP hierarchy contains two types of q-deformed KP equation with self-consistent sources, and its two kinds of reductions give the q-deformed Gelfand-Dickey hierarchy with self-consistent sources and the constrained q-deformed KP hierarchy, which include two types of q-deformed KdV equation with sources and two types of q-deformed Boussinesq equation with sources. All of these results reduce to the classical ones when $q$ goes to 1. This provides a general way to construct (2+1)- and (1+1)-dimensional q-deformed soliton equations with sources and their Lax representations.

Abstract:We prove new well-posedness results for dispersion-generalized Kadomtsev--Petviashvili I equations in $\mathbb{R}^2$, which family links the classical KP-I equation with the fifth order KP-I equation. For strong enough dispersion, we show global well-posedness in $L^2(\mathbb{R}^2)$. To this end, we combine resonance and transversality considerations with Strichartz estimates and a nonlinear Loomis--Whitney inequality. Moreover, we prove that for small dispersion, the equations cannot be solved via Picard iteration. In this case, we use an additional frequency dependent time localization.

Abstract:We introduce a Frobenius algebra-valued KP hierarchy and show the existence of Frobenius algebra-valued $\tau$-function for this hierarchy. In addition we construct its Hamiltonian structures by using the Adler-Dickey-Gelfand method. As a byproduct of these constructions, we show that the coupled KP hierarchy defined by <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://P.Casati" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> and <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://G.Ortenzi" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> in \cite{CO2006} has at least $n$-``basic" different local bi-Hamiltonian structures. Finally, via the construction of the second Hamiltonian structures, we obtain some local matrix, or Frobenius algebra-valued, generalizations of classical $W$-algebras.
