Abstract:We construct dynamics for the defocusing real-valued (Miura) mKdV equation on the real line with initial data distributed according to Gibbs measure. We also prove that Gibbs measure is invariant under these dynamics. On the way, we provide a new proof of the invariance of the Gibbs measure under mKdV on the torus.

Abstract:Irreversible thermodynamics of simple fluids have been connected recently to the theory of dynamical systems and some interesting assumptions have been made about the nature of the associated invariant measures. We show that the tests of validity of these assumptions are insufficient by exhibiting observables that are incorrectly sampled with the proposed invariant measures. Only observables belonging to the "high temperature phase" of the thermodynamic formalism are insensitive to the sampling methods. We outline methods that are free of these deficiencies.

Abstract:We present a general strategy for proving ergodicity for stochastically forced nonlinear dissipative PDEs. It consists of two main steps. The first step is the reduction to a finite dimensional Gibbsian dynamics of the low modes. The second step is to prove the equivalence between measures induced by different past histories using Girsanov theorem. As applications, we prove ergodicity for Ginzburg–Landau, Kuramoto–Sivashinsky and Cahn–Hilliard equations with stochastic forcing.
Gibbs measures as local equilibrium KMS states for focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equations

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with the study of statistical equilibria for focusing nonlinear Schrödinger and Hartree equations on the d-dimensional torus when d=1,2,3. Due to the focusing nature of the nonlinearity in these PDEs, Gibbs measures have to be appropriately localized. First, we show that these local Gibbs measures are stationary solutions for the Liouville probability density equation and that they satisfy a local equilibrium Kubo-Martin-Schwinger (KMS) condition. Secondly, under some natural assumptions, we characterize all possible local KMS equilibrium states for these PDEs as local Gibbs measures. Our methods are based on Malliavin calculus in Gross-Stroock Sobolev spaces and on a suitable Gaussian integration by parts formula. To handle the technical problems due to localization, we rely on the works of Aida and Kusuoka on irreducibility of Dirichlet forms over infinite-dimensional domains. This leads us to the study of sublevel sets of the renormalized mass and their connectedness properties. In this paper, we also revisit Bourgain's proof of the normalizability of the local Gibbs measure for the focusing Hartree equation on the d-dimensional torus with d=2,3 by using concentration inequalities.

Abstract:We investigate the long-time behavior of solutions to a stochastically forced one-dimensional Navier-Stokes system, describing the motion of a compressible viscous fluid, in the case of linear pressure law. We prove existence of an invariant measure for the Markov process generated by strong solutions. We overcome the difficulties of working with non-Feller Markov semigroups on non-complete metric spaces by generalizing the classical Krylov-Bogoliubov method, and by providing suitable polynomial and exponential moment bounds on the solution, together with pathwise estimates.

Abstract:This paper deals with the long term dynamics of the non-autonomous McKean-Vlasov stochastic reaction-diffusion equations on R^n. We first prove the existence and uniqueness of pullback measure attractors of the non-autonomous dynamical system generated by the solution operators defined in the space of probability measures. We then prove the existence and uniqueness of invariant measures and periodic measures of the equation under further conditions. We finally establish the upper semi-continuity of pullback measure attractors as well as the convergence of invariant measures and periodic measures when the distribution dependent stochastic equations converge to a distribution independent system.

Abstract:Hamiltonian dynamics describing conservative systems naturally preserves the standard notion of phase-space volume, a result known as the Liouville's theorem which is central to the formulation of classical statistical mechanics. In this paper, we obtain explicit expressions for invariant phase-space measures for certain dissipative systems, namely, systems described by conformal vector fields on symplectic manifolds that are cotangent bundles, contact Hamiltonian systems, and systems of the Liénard class with position-dependent damping. The latter class of systems can be described by certain generalized conformal vector fields on the cotangent bundle of the configuration space. The computation of the invariant measures is achieved by calculating the Jacobi last multiplier for the above-mentioned dissipative systems.

Invariant Gibbs dynamics for two-dimensional fractional wave equations in negative Sobolev spaces

Abstract:We consider a fractional nonlinear wave equations (fNLW) with a general power-type nonlinearity, on the two-dimensional torus. Our main goal is to construct invariant global-in-time Gibbs dynamics for a renormalized fNLW. We first construct the Gibbs measure associated with this equation by using the variational approach of Barashkov and Gubinelli. We then prove almost sure local well-posedness with respect to Gibbsian initial data, by exploiting the second order expansion. Finally, we extend solutions globally in time using Bourgain's invariant measure argument.

Abstract:This paper deals with the existence and limiting behavior of invariant measures of the stochastic Landau-Lifshitz-Bloch equation driven by linear multiplicative noise and additive noise defined in the entire space $\mathbb{R}^d$ for $d=1,2$, which describes the phase spins in ferromagnetic materials around the Curie temperature. We first establish the existence and uniqueness of solutions by a domain expansion method. We then prove the existence of invariant measures by the weak Feller argument. In the case $d=1$, we show the uniform tightness of the set of all invariant measures of the stochastic equation, and prove any limit of a sequence of invariant measures of the perturbed equation must be an invariant measure of the limiting system. The cut-off arguments, stopping time techniques and uniform tail-ends estimates of solutions are developed to overcome the difficulty caused by the high-order nonlinearity and the non-compactness of Sobolev embeddings in unbounded domains.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the invariant probability measures supported on pullback attractors for 3D globally modified Navier–Stokes equations with delay. We first construct a family of invariant probability measures as well as periodic invariant probability measures when the forcing term is periodic in time. We then present some general results on the limiting behaviors of invariant measures and periodic invariant measures for non-autonomous dynamical systems, and further apply these results to the 3D globally modified Navier–Stokes equations with delay. More precisely, we prove that any limit of a sequence of invariant measures (respectively, periodic invariant measures) of such equations must be an invariant measure (respectively, a periodic invariant measure) of the corresponding limiting equations as parameter N tends to some positive number or the delay parameter approaches to zero.

Abstract:We study the $\Phi^3_2$-measure in the infinite volume limit. This is the invariant measure for several stochastic partial differential equations including the parabolic and hyperbolic $\Phi^3_2$-models. In the large torus limit, we observe a concentration phenomenon of the $\Phi^3_2$-measure around zero, which is the single minimizer of the corresponding Hamiltonian for any fixed torus size. From our sharp estimates for the partition function, we obtain a triviality result for the $\Phi^3_2$-measure on infinite volume: the ensemble collapses onto a delta function on the zero field.

Abstract:We consider the defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation on $\mathbb{T}^2$ with Wick ordered power nonlinearity, and prove almost sure global well-posedness with respect to the associated Gibbs measure. The heart of the matter is the uniqueness of the solution as limit of solutions to canonically truncated systems. The invariance of the Gibbs measure under the global dynamics follows as a consequence. The proof relies on the novel idea of random averaging operators.

Abstract:This work is concerned with the modified stochastic Swift–Hohenberg equation in a 3D thin domain. Although the diffusion motion of molecules is irregular with the interference of the film-fluid fluctuation, the invariant measure on the trajectory space reveals delicate transition of the dynamical behavior when the interior forces change. We therefore prove that the invariant measure of the system converges weakly to the unique counterpart of the stochastic Swift–Hohenberg equation in a 2D bounded domain with a concrete convergence rate, as the modified parameter and the thickness of the thin domain tend to zero. Furthermore, we address that the smooth density of the limit invariant measure fulfills a Fokker–Planck equation.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the existence of invariant measures for stochastic delay complex Ginzburg-Landau equations defined on the entire integer set. When the nonlinear drift and diffusion terms are globally Lipschitz continous, the existence of invariant measures of the equation is proved by estiblishing the tightness of probability distributions of solutions in the space of continuous functions from a finite interval to an infinite-dimensional space, based on the idea of uniform tail-estimates, the technique of diadic division and the Arzela-Ascoli theorem.

Abstract:We prove the existence and some moment estimates for an invariant measure $\mu$ for the two-dimensional ($2$D) deterministic Euler equations on the unbounded domain $\mathbb R^2$ and with highly regular initial data. The result is achieved by first showing the existence of Markov stationary processes which solve the hyperviscous $2$D Navier-Stokes equations with kinematic viscosity $\nu>0$ and an additive stochastic noise scaling as $\sqrt \nu$. We then study the inviscid limit and prove that, as $\nu$ tends to $0$, these processes converge, in an appropriate trajectory space, to a pathwise stationary solution to the Euler equations. Its law is the sought invariant measure $\mu$.

Invariant measure and universality of the 2D Yang-Mills Langevin dynamic

Abstract:We prove that the Yang-Mills (YM) measure for the trivial principal bundle over the two-dimensional torus, with any connected, compact structure group, is invariant for the associated renormalised Langevin dynamic. Our argument relies on a combination of regularity structures, lattice gauge-fixing, and Bourgain's method for invariant measures. Several corollaries are presented including a gauge-fixed decomposition of the YM measure into a Gaussian free field and an almost Lipschitz remainder, and a proof of universality for the YM measure that we derive from a universality for the Langevin dynamic for a wide class of discrete approximations. The latter includes standard lattice gauge theories associated to Wilson, Villain, and Manton actions. An important step in the argument, which is of independent interest, is a proof of uniqueness for the mass renormalisation of the gauge-covariant continuum Langevin dynamic, which allows us to identify the limit of discrete approximations. This latter result relies on Euler estimates for singular SPDEs and for Young ODEs arising from Wilson loops.

Invariant measures for a stochastic nonlinear and damped 2D Schrödinger equation

Abstract:We consider a stochastic nonlinear defocusing Schrödinger equation with zero-order linear damping, where the stochastic forcing term is given by a combination of a linear multiplicative noise in the Stratonovich form and a nonlinear noise in the Itô form. We work at the same time on compact Riemannian manifolds without boundary and on relatively compact smooth domains with either the Dirichlet or the Neumann boundary conditions, always in dimension 2. We construct a martingale solution using a modified Faedo-Galerkin's method, following <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1707.05610" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1707.05610">arXiv:1707.05610</a>. Then by means of the Strichartz estimates deduced from <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="math/0609455" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/math/0609455">arXiv:math/0609455</a> but modified for our stochastic setting we show the pathwise uniqueness of solutions. Finally, we prove the existence of an invariant measure by means of a version of the Krylov-Bogoliubov method, which involves the weak topology, as proposed by Maslowski and Seidler. This is the first result of this type for stochastic NLS on compact Riemannian manifolds without boundary and on relatively compact smooth domains even for an additive noise. Some remarks on the uniqueness in a particular case are provided as well.

Global dynamics for the stochastic KdV equation with white noise as initial data

Abstract:We study the stochastic Korteweg-de Vries equation (SKdV) with an additive space-time white noise forcing, posed on the one-dimensional torus. In particular, we construct global-in-time solutions to SKdV with spatial white noise initial data. Due to the lack of an invariant measure, Bourgain's invariant measure argument is not applicable to this problem. In order to overcome this difficulty, we implement a variant of Bourgain's argument in the context of an evolution system of measures and construct global-in-time dynamics. Moreover, we show that the white noise measure with variance $1+t$ is an evolution system of measures for SKdV with the white noise initial data.

Abstract:We consider a deterministic system with two conserved quantities and infinity many invariant measures. However the systems possess a unique invariant measure when enough stochastic forcing and balancing dissipation are added. We then show that as the forcing and dissipation are removed a unique limit of the deterministic system is selected. The exact structure of the limiting measure depends on the specifics of the stochastic forcing.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate stochastic dynamics and invariant measures for stochastic 3D Lagrangian-averaged Navier–Stokes (LANS) equations driven by infinite delay and additive noise. We first use Galerkin approximations, a priori estimates and the standard Gronwall lemma to show the well-posedness for the corresponding random equation, whose solution operators generate a random dynamical system. Next, the asymptotic compactness for the random dynamical system is established via the Ascoli–Arzelà theorem. Besides, we derive the existence of a global random attractor for the random dynamical system. Moreover, we prove that the random dynamical system is bounded and continuous with respect to the initial values. Eventually, we construct a family of invariant Borel probability measures, which is supported by the global random attractor.
