Abstract:For a Lie superalgebra with Cartan matrix over a field of positive characteristic, some information about its root system in terms of the system of simple roots corresponding to the Chevalley generators is described, under certain given assumptions. This information may be useful for finding other systems of simple roots of such a Lie superalgebra and other Cartan matrices which produce Lie superalgebras isomorphic to a given one.

Abstract:Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a basic simple Lie superalgebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, and $\theta$ an involution of $\mathfrak{g}$ preserving a nondegenerate invariant form. We prove that either $\theta$ or $\delta\circ\theta$ admits an Iwasawa decomposition, where $\delta$ is the canonical grading automorphism $\delta(x)=(-1)^{\overline{x}}x$. The proof uses the notion of generalized root systems as developed by Serganova, and follows from a more general result on centralizers of certain tori coming from semisimple automorphisms of the Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{g}$.

Abstract: A $G$-grading on a complex semisimple Lie algebra $L$, where $G$ is a finite abelian group, is called quasi-good if each homogeneous component is 1-dimensional and 0 is not in the support of the grading. Analogous to classical root systems, we define a finite root system $R$ to be some subset of a finite symplectic abelian group satisfying certain axioms. There always corresponds to $R$ a semisimple Lie algebra $L(R)$ together with a quasi-good grading on it. Thus one can construct nice basis of $L(R)$ by means of finite root systems. We classify finite maximal abelian subgroups $T$ in $\Aut(L)$ for complex simple Lie algebras $L$ such that the grading induced by the action of $T$ on $L$ is quasi-good, and show that the set of roots of $T$ in $L$ is always a finite root system. There are five series of such finite maximal abelian subgroups, which occur only if $L$ is a classical simple Lie algebra.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a simple linear algebraic group defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p\geq 0$ and let $\phi$ be a $p$-restricted irreducible representation of $G$. Let $T$ be a maximal torus of $G$ and $s\in T$. We say that $s$ is strongly regular if $\alpha(s)\ne\beta(s)$ for all distinct $T$-roots $\alpha$ and $\beta$ of $G$. Our main result states that if all but one of the eigenvalues of $\phi(s)$ are of multiplicity 1 then, with a few specified exceptions, $s$ is strongly regular. This can be viewed as an extension of our earlier result saying that under the same hypotheses, $s$ must be regular and all non-zero weights of $\phi$ are of multiplicity 1.

Abstract:Splints of root system of simple lie algebras appears naturally on studies of embedding of reductive subalgebras. A splint can be used to construct a branching rules as implementation of this idea simplifies calculation of branching coefficient. We extend the concept of splints to classical lie superalgebras cases as these algebras have wide application in physics.

Let $\mathfrak{g} = \mathfrak{k} \oplus \mathfrak{p}$ and $\mathfrak{h} = \mathfrak{t} \oplus \mathfrak{a}$ be the corresponding complexifications. The set $\Delta {\left( {\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{t}} \right)}$ consists of all the linear forms on $\mathfrak{t}$ which are the restriction to $\mathfrak{t}$ of the roots in the root system $\Delta {\left( {\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}} \right)}$ of $\mathfrak{g}$ with respect to $\mathfrak{h}$. The main result of the paper is to prove that $\Delta {\left( {\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{t}} \right)}$ is also a (maybe non-reduced) root system and its Weyl group can be identified with a subgroup of the Weyl group of $\Delta {\left( {\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}} \right)}$. Root groupoid and related Lie superalgebras

Abstract:We introduce a notion of a root groupoid as a replacement of the notion of Weyl group for (Kac-Moody) Lie superalgebras. The objects of the root groupoid classify certain root data, the arrows are defined by generators and relations. As an abstract groupoid the root groupoid has many connected components and we show that to some of them one can associate an interesting family of Lie superalgebras which we call root superalgebras. We classify root superalgebras satisfying some additional assumptions. To each root groupoid component we associate a graph (called skeleton) generalizing the Cayley graph of the Weyl group. We establish the Coxeter property of the skeleton generalizing in this way the fact that the Weyl group of a Kac-Moody Lie algebra is Coxeter.

Generalized classical Yang-Baxter equation and regular decompositions

Abstract:The focus of the paper is on constructing new solutions of the generalized classical Yang-Baxter equation (GCYBE) that are not skew-symmetric. Using regular decompositions of finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras, we construct Lie algebra decompositions of $\mathfrak{g}(\!(x)\!) \times \mathfrak{g}[x]/x^m \mathfrak{g}[x]$. The latter decompositions are in bijection with the solutions to the GCYBE. Under appropriate regularity conditions, we obtain a partial classification of such solutions. The paper is concluded with the presentations of the Gaudin-type models associated to these solutions.

Abstract:We consider special embeddings of a Lie subalgebra into simple Lie algebras. We classify the projections of algebra root systems and obtain the conditions under which a splint appears and the branching coefficients coincide with the weight multiplicities. Although such a coincidence is infrequent, it turns out to be connected with the Gelfand–Tsetlin basis.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a simple simply-connected algebraic group over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $p>0$ with $\mathfrak{g}={\rm Lie}(G)$. We discuss various properties of nilpotent orbits in $\mathfrak{g}$, which have previously only been considered over $\mathbb{C}$. Using a combination of theoretical and computational methods, we extend to positive characteristic various calculations of de Graaf with nilpotent orbits in exceptional Lie algebras. In particular, we classify those orbits which are reachable, those which satisfy a certain related condition due to Panyushev, and determine the codimension in the centraliser $\mathfrak{g}_e$ of its the derived subalgebra $[\mathfrak{g}_e,\mathfrak{g}_e]$. Some of these calculations are used to show that the list of rigid nilpotent orbits in $\mathfrak{g}$, the classification of sheets of $\mathfrak{g}$ and the distribution of the nilpotent orbits amongst them are independent of good characteristic, remaining the same as in the characteristic zero case. We also give a comprehensive account of the theory of sheets in reductive Lie algebras over algebraically closed fields of good characteristic.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a family of indecomposable finite--dimensional graded modules for the current algebra associated to a simple Lie algebra. These modules are indexed by a tuple of partitions one for each positive root of the simple Lie algebra. We assume that the partitions satisfy a natural compatibility condition. In the case when the partitions are all rectangular, for instance, we prove that these are precisely the Demazure modules which are stable under the action of the simple Lie algebra. As a consequence we see that the defining relations of these Demazure modules can be greatly simplified. We use this simplified presentation to relate our results to the fusion products (defined by Feigin and Loktev) of representations of the current algebra. We prove that the Q--system can be actually thought of as a canonical short exact of the fusion products of representations associated to certain special partitions. Finally, in the last section we deal with the case of sl(2) and prove that the modules we define are just fusion products of irreducible representations of the associated current algebra. We also give monomial bases for these modules.

Abstract:Consider a Borcherds-Kac-Moody Lie superalgebra, denoted as g , associated with the graph G . This Lie superalgebra is constructed from a free Lie superalgebra by introducing three sets of relations on its generators: (1) Chevalley relations, (2) Serre relations, and (3) The commutation relations derived from the graph G . The Chevalley relations lead to a triangular decomposition of g as g=n+⊕h⊕n− , where each root space gα is contained in either n+ or n− . Importantly, each gα is determined solely by relations (2) and (3). This paper focuses on the root spaces of g that are unaffected by the Serre relations. We refer to these root spaces as "free roots" of g (these root spaces are free from the Serre relations and can be associated with certain grade spaces of freely partially commutative Lie superalgebras, as detailed in Lemma 3.10 . Consequently, we refer to them as "free roots," and the corresponding root spaces in g as "free root spaces" [cf. Definition 2.6 ]). Since these root spaces only involve commutation relations derived from the graph G , we can examine them purely from a combinatorial perspective. We employ heaps of pieces to analyze these root spaces and establish various combinatorial properties. We develop two distinct bases for these root spaces of g : We extend Lalonde's Lyndon heap basis, originally designed for free partially commutative Lie algebras, to accommodate free partially commutative Lie superalgebras. We expand upon the basis introduced in the reference [1] , designed for the free root spaces of Borcherds algebras, to encompass BKM superalgebras. This extension is achieved by investigating the combinatorial properties of super Lyndon heaps. Additionally, we also explore several other combinatorial properties related to free roots.

Abstract:Abstract Suppose that W is a finite, unitary, reflection group acting on the complex vector space V and X is a subspace of V . Define N to be the setwise stabilizer of X in W , Z to be the pointwise stabilizer, and C = N / Z . Then restriction defines a homomorphism from the algebra of W -invariant polynomial functions on V to the algebra of C -invariant functions on X . In this note we consider the special case when W is a Coxeter group, V is the complexified reflection representation of W , and X is in the lattice of the arrangement of W , and give a simple, combinatorial characterization of when the restriction mapping is surjective in terms of the exponents of W and C . As an application of our result, in the case when W is the Weyl group of a semisimple, complex Lie algebra, we complete a calculation begun by Richardson in 1987 and obtain a simple combinatorial characterization of regular decomposition classes whose closure is a normal variety.

Restriction Theorems and Root Systems for Symmetric Superspaces

Abstract:In this paper we consider those involutions $\theta$ of a finite-dimensional Kac-Moody Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak g$, with associated decomposition $\mathfrak g=\mathfrak k\oplus\mathfrak p$, for which a Cartan subspace $\mathfrak a$ in $\mathfrak p_{\bar 0}$ is self-centralizing in $\mathfrak p$. For such $\theta$ the restriction map $C_\theta$ from $\mathfrak p$ to $\mathfrak a$ is injective on the algebra $P(\mathfrak p)^{\mathfrak k}$ of $\mathfrak k$-invariant polynomials on $\mathfrak p$. There are five infinite families and five exceptional cases of such involutions, and for each case we explicitly determine the structure of $P(\mathfrak p)^{\mathfrak k}$ by giving a complete set of generators for the image of $C_\theta$. We also determine precisely when the restriction map $R_\theta$ from $P(\mathfrak g)^{\mathfrak g}$ to $P(\mathfrak p)^{\mathfrak k}$ is surjective. Finally we introduce the notion of a generalized restricted root system, and show that in the present setting the $\mathfrak a$-roots $\Delta(\mathfrak a,\mathfrak g)$ always form such a system.

Nilpotent Decomposition of Solvable Lie Algebras

Abstract:Semisimple Lie algebras have been completely classified by Cartan and Killing. The Levi theorem states that every finite dimensional Lie algebra is isomorphic to a semidirect sum of its largest solvable ideal and a semisimple Lie algebra. These focus the classification of solvable Lie algebras as one of the main challenges of Lie algebra research. One approach towards this task is to take a class of nilpotent Lie algebras and construct all extensions of these algebras to solvable ones. In this paper, we propose another approach, i.e., to decompose a solvable nonnilpotent Lie algebra to two nilpotent Lie algebras which are called the left and right nilpotent algebras of the solvable algebra. The right nilpotent algebra is the smallest ideal of the lower central series of the solvable algebra, while the left nilpotent algebra is the factor algebra of the solvable algebra and its right nilpotent algebra. We show that the solvable algebras are decomposable if its left nilpotent algebra is an Abelian algebra of dimension higher than one and its right algebra is an Abelian algebra of dimension one. We further show that all the solvable algebras are isomorphic if their left nilpotent algebras are Heisenberg algebras of fixed dimension and their right algebras are Abelian algebras of dimension one.

Subregular nilpotent orbits and explicit character formulas for modules over affine Lie algebras

Abstract:Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a simple finite dimensional complex Lie algebra and let $\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}$ be the corresponding affine Lie algebra. Kac and Wakimoto observed that in some cases the coefficients in the character formula for a simple highest weight $\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}$-module are either bounded or are given by a linear function of the weight. We explain and generalize this observation using Kazhdan-Lusztig theory, by computing values at $q=1$ of certain (parabolic) affine inverse Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials. In particular, we obtain explicit character formulas for some $\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}$-modules of negative integer level $k$ when $\mathfrak g$ is of type $D_n$, $E_6$, $E_7$, $E_8$ and $k \geqslant -2, -3, -4, -6$ respectively, as conjectured by Kac and Wakimoto. The calculation relies on the explicit description of the canonical basis in the cell quotient of the anti-spherical module over the affine Hecke algebra corresponding to the subregular cell. We also present an explicit description of the corresponding objects in the derived category of equivariant coherent sheaves on the Springer resolution, they correspond to irreducible objects in the heart of a certain $t$-structure related to the so called non-commutative Springer resolution.

Abstract:Extended affine root systems appear as the root systems of extended affine Lie algebras. A subclass of extended affine root systems, whose elements are called ``minimal" turns out to be of special interest mostly because of the geometric properties of their Weyl groups; they possess the so-called ``presentation by conjugation". In this work, we characterize minimal extended affine root systems in terms of ``minimal reflectable bases" which resembles the concept of the ``base" for finite and affine root systems. As an application, we construct elliptic Lie algebras by means of Serre's type generators and relations.
