Abstract:The purpose of this study was to improve the depression, enhance the bioavailability, hence strengthen the antimicrobial ability of poorly water-soluble glycerol monolaurate (GML) by loading it in microemulsion system. Microemulsions were prepared with GML as oil, tweens as surfactant, and medium-and-short chain alcohols at different ratio as cosurfactants. The effect of the ratio of surfactant to cosurfactant on the stability of microemulsion was tested. And the effect of the composition and ratio of cosurfactant and the effect of potassium sorbate dissolved in water at different concentration on the area of O/W microemulsion region in pseudo-ternary phase diagrams were also investigated. The results showed that the microemulsion is most stable when the ratio of surfactant to cosurfactant was 3:2, the suitable cosurfactant is pentanol to dodecane at 2:1, the area of O/W microemulsion region in pseudo-ternary phase diagram increased with increasing content of potassium sorbate. The conclusion of this study was that GML loaded in microemulsion had much higher anti-microbial activity than GML alone.
Novel Multi-Phase Nano-Emulsion Preparation for Co-Loading Hydrophilic Arbutin and Hydrophobic Coumaric Acid Using Hydrocolloids

Abstract:This study was designed to co-load hydrophilic arbutin and hydrophobic coumaric acid in nano-sized multi-phase emulsion (W/O/W) using hydrocolloids and examined for its various stability and bioaccessibility parameters. The creaming stability and sensory evaluation of emulsion in Lactobacillus beverage and its release kinetics in simulated oral and gastrointestinal conditions were also studied. Results revealed that multi-phase emulsion exhibited small particle size and low polydispersity index with high zeta potential. Higher encapsulation efficiency was also observed. Moreover, the multi-phase emulsion showed good storage stability under different conditions. The multi-phase emulsion also showed controlled release of arbutin and coumaric acid in simulated conditions with increasing bioaccessibility. Stability of these compounds under unfavorable conditions was also found to be increased. Moreover, high creaming stability and sensory evaluation score of the multi-phase emulsion suggested that the formulation was capable of retaining arbutin and coumaric acid in Lactobacillus beverage without affecting its sensory properties. These results indicated that the multi-phase nano-emulsion (W/O/W) could effectively co-deliver hydrophilic arbutin and hydrophobic coumaric acid and thus could be a novel delivery method for increasing bioaccessibility of these nutraceutically important phenolic compounds.
Nano-emulsion formulation using spontaneous emulsification: solvent, oil and surfactant optimisation

Abstract:Nano-emulsions consist of fine oil-in-water dispersions, having droplets covering the size range of 100-600 nm. In the present work, nano-emulsions were prepared using the spontaneous emulsification mechanism which occurs when an organic phase and an aqueous phase are mixed. The organic phase is an homogeneous solution of oil, lipophilic surfactant and water-miscible solvent, the aqueous phase consists on hydrophilic surfactant and water. An experimental study of nano-emulsion process optimisation based on the required size distribution was performed in relation with the type of oil, surfactant and the water-miscible solvent. The results showed that the composition of the initial organic phase was of great importance for the spontaneous emulsification process, and so, for the physico-chemical properties of the obtained emulsions. First, oil viscosity and HLB surfactants were changed, alpha-tocopherol, the most viscous oil, gave the smallest droplets size (171 +/- 2 nm), HLB required for the resulting oil-in-water emulsion was superior to 8. Second, the effect of water-solvent miscibility on the emulsification process was studied by decreasing acetone proportion in the organic phase. The solvent-acetone proportion leading to a fine nano-emulsion was fixed at 15/85% (v/v) with EtAc-acetone and 30/70% (v/v) with MEK-acetone mixture. To strength the choice of solvents, physical characteristics were compared, in particular, the auto-inflammation temperature and the flash point. This phase of emulsion optimisation represents an important step in the process of polymeric nanocapsules preparation using nanoprecipitation or interfacial polycondensation combined with spontaneous emulsification technique.

Abstract:Different types and ratios of surfactant, co-surfactant, and oil phase, have a greater impact on nanoemulsion preparation. The presence of surfactants in the nanoemulsion can reduce surface tension and characteristic stability. In this study, four groups of oil-in-water (O/W) nanoemulsions (NEs) with different ratios of surfactant and co-surfactant, and two oils were formulated as carriers of Rhodiola rosea. The variable optimization was investigated and then indicated as optimization group A (Opt A) with the formula of 10% of transcutol, 16.63% of tween 80, Opt B with 10% of tween 80, 29.87% of span 80, Opt C with 28.42% of transcutol, 30% of labrasol, and Opt D with 30% of transcutol, 30% of tween 80. Labrafac and soybean oil were used as the oil phase. The optimized formula using the response surface method (RSM) by design expert software showed the ideal conditions with a higher desirability score. Desirability score are 0.72% (Opt A), 0.81% (Opt B), 0.76% (Opt C) and 0.98% (Opt D), the desirability rating close to 1 indicates a high possibility that the projected values would closely match the experimental results for the optimum formula. All of the optimized formulation were also checked for the characteristics of nanoemulsion including particle size, polydispersity index (PDI), zeta potential, viscosity, encapsulation efficiency, transmission electron microscope (TEM), antioxidant activity, skin irritation test and stability studies. Our study provides a promising combination of surfactant-co-surfactant and oil phases to produce a stable nanoemulsion that can be used in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics in the future.

Abstract:Nanoemulsions are very interesting systems as they offer capacity to encapsulate both hydrophilic and lipophilic molecules in a single particle, as well as the controlled release of chemical moieties initially entrapped in the internal droplets. In this study, we propose a new two-step modified ultrasound-assisted phase inversion approaches-phase inversion temperature (PIT) and self-emulsification, to prepare stable o/w nanoemulsions from a fully water-dilutable microemulsion template for the transdermal delivery of loratadine (a hydrophobe and as Ostwald ripening inhibitor). Firstly, the primary water-in-oil microemulsion concentrate (w/o) was formed using loratadine in the oil phase (oleic acid or coconut oil) and Tween 80 in the aqueous phase and by adjusting the PIT around 85 °C followed by stepwise dilution with water at 25 °C to initiate the formation the nanoemulsions (o/w). To assure the long-term stability, a brief application of low frequency ultrasound was employed. Combining the two low energy methods resulted in nanoemulsions prepared by mixing constant surfactant/oil ratios above the PIT with varying water volume fraction (self-emulsification) during the PIT by stepwise dilution. The kinetic stability was evaluated by measuring the droplet size with time by dynamic light scattering (DLS). The droplet size ranged 15-43 nm and did not exceed 100 nm over the period of 6 months indicating the system had high kinetic stability. Cryo-TEM showed that the nanoemulsions droplets were monodispersed and approaching micellar structure and scale. All nanoemulsions had loratadine crystals formed within 20 days after preparation, which tended to sediment during storage. Nanoemulsions improved the in vitro permeation of loratadine through porcine skin up to 20 times compared to the saturated solution.

Abstract:Nanoemulsions stabilized by traditional emulsifiers raise toxicological concerns for long-term treatment. The present work investigates the potential of food proteins as safer stabilizers for nanoemulsions to deliver hydrophobic drugs. Nanoemulsions stabilized by food proteins (soybean protein isolate, whey protein isolate, β-lactoglobulin) were prepared by high-pressure homogenization. The toxicity of the nanoemulsions was tested in Caco-2 cells using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazoliumbromide viability assay. In vivo absorption in rats was also evaluated. Food protein-stabilized nanoemulsions, with small particle size and good size distribution, exhibited better stability and biocompatibility compared with nanoemulsions stabilized by traditional emulsifiers. Moreover, β-lactoglobulin had a better emulsifying capacity and biocompatibility than the other two food proteins. The pancreatic degradation of the proteins accelerated drug release. It is concluded that an oil/water nanoemulsion system with good biocompatibility can be prepared by using food proteins as emulsifiers, allowing better and more rapid absorption of lipophilic drugs.
Evidence of residual micellar structures in a lipid nanocapsule dispersion. A multi-technique approach

Abstract:Nanoemulsions are metastable emulsions in the nanometric range which can be obtained using low-energy processes. A decade ago, it was demonstrated that a non-negligible amount of residual surfactant micelles may coexist with the oil nanodroplets in a model oil/surfactant system. Those micelles were called "wasted" micelles as they did not participate in the formation of the nanodroplets. Little attention has been focused on the potential presence or effect of such secondary structures in nanoemulsions used as drug delivery systems. Here, we present an extensive characterization of lipid nanocapsules, a nanoemulsion obtained from a medium-chain triglyceride mixed with a pegylated surfactant by a process comprising a temperature-dependent phase inversion followed by a cold-water quench. Lipid nanocapsules demonstrate a very good shelf stability. First, for clarity and academic purposes, we briefly present the pros and the cons of the various diffusion-based characterization techniques used i.e., multi-angle and single-angle dynamic light scattering, nanoparticle tracking analysis, fluorescence recovery after photobleaching, and diffusometry nuclear magnetic resonance. Then, combining all these techniques, we show that up to 40 wt% of the surfactant is not involved in the lipid nanocapsule construction but forms residual micellar structures. Those micelles also contain a small quantity of medium-chain triglyceride (2 wt% of the initial amount) and encapsulate around 40 wt% of a fluorescent dye originally dispersed in the oily phase.
Polyglycerol Ester-Based Low Energy Nanoemulsions with Red Raspberry Seed Oil and Fruit Extracts: Formulation Development toward Effective In Vitro/In Vivo Bioperformance

Abstract:This study focuses on the development of biocompatible oil-in-water (O/W) nanoemulsions based on polyglycerol esters, as promising carriers for natural actives: red raspberry seed oil-RO and hydro-glycolic fruit extracts from red raspberry-RE and French oak-FE. Nanoemulsions were obtained via phase inversion composition (PIC) method at room temperature by dilution of microemulsion phase, confirmed by visual appearance, percentage of transmittance, microscopic, rheological and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) investigations. The results have shown that the basic RO-loaded formulation could be further enriched with hydro-glycolic fruit extracts from red raspberry or French oak, while keeping a semi-transparent appearance due to the fine droplet size (Z-ave: 50 to 70 nm, PDI value ≤ 0.1). The highest antioxidant activity (~92% inhibition of the DPPH radical) was achieved in the formulation containing both lipophilic (RO) and hydrophilic antioxidants (FE), due to their synergistic effect. The nanoemulsion carrier significantly increased the selective cytotoxic effect of RO towards malignant melanoma (Fem-X) cells, compared to normal human keratinocytes (HaCaT). In vivo study on human volunteers showed satisfactory safety profiles and significant improvement in skin hydration during 2 h after application for all nanoemulsions. Therefore, polyglycerol ester-based nanoemulsions can be promoted as effective carriers for red raspberry seed oil and/or hydro-glycolic fruit extracts in topical formulations intended for skin protection and hydration.

Abstract:Formation of water-in-diesel oil (w/o) nano-emulsion has been achieved by a low-energy emulsification method by stabilizing a new combination of nonionic sorbitan esters surfactants, that is PEG20-sorbitan monostearate and sorbitan monooleate in mixed proportions. Different combinations of the surfactants (T6 + S8) have been tested and the best possible combination of mixed surfactants is found at a surfactants ratio of 35:65 (wt/wt) for T6:S8 at hydrophile–lipophile balance (HLB) = 8.01, which resulted in smaller droplet size of 44.87 nm. A phase diagram study is performed to identify the zones of formation of transparent, translucent, and opaque emulsions (44 nm < droplet size < 700 nm). The mechanism responsible for the instability of emulsion is explained by Ostwald ripening, with inference describing a decrease in particle size with the Ostwald ripening rate. In case of nano-emulsion of droplet size 64.28 nm, the Oswald ripening rate is found as 0.0874 × 10−27 m3 · s−1. Comparison of Ostwald ripening rate with other sets of surfactants obtained by different authors showed the lowest rate among them, indicative of enhanced stability. A rheological study of the tested set of nano-emulsions depicts the Newtonian behavior (1.0371 ≤ n ≤ 1.0826) over a wider range of shear rates (10–1000 s−1) at different temperatures (25–40°C).

Influence of the emulsifier on nanostructure and clinical application of liquid crystalline emulsions

Abstract:Liquid crystals are appealing in pharmaceutical and cosmetic fields due to their unique structures that combine the properties of both liquid and solid states. Forming an emulsion into liquid crystals can be affected by a number of factors, including the emulsion composition and temperature. Changing the types and concentrations of surfactants could be another factor that affects liquid crystals. Currently, most liquid crystal research focuses on the nanostructure of liquid crystal systems without evaluating the efficacy of liquid crystals clinically. In this study, liquid crystalline emulsions made from camellia seed oil with four different surfactants (Olivem 1000, Polyaquol-2W, Nikkomulese LC, and Lecinol S-10 with Tween 80) were created. The liquid crystal emulsions were formulated in the form of oil-in-water (o/w) emulsions with Camellia oleifera seed oil serving as the main ingredient in the oil phase (10% w/w). All formulations exhibited liquid crystal characteristics with lamellar structures as determined by the polarized light microscopy and small-angle X-ray scattering with supporting data of the nanostructure from wide-angle X-ray scattering and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). They all showed good stability under normal (room temperature) and accelerated conditions (4 °C and 40 °C) in long-term storage (6 months). Using the reconstructed human epidermis as a skin model, all formulations did not cause skin irritation. In the clinical trial, all formulations were able to reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and increase skin hydration immediately after application. This lasted at least 10 h. All formulations showed distinct Maltese crosses under the polarized light microscope with a positive result for liquid crystals in wide angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) and small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) methods. Moreover, among all formulations tested, Formulation D, which contained Lecinol S-10 and Tween 80 as emulsifiers, showed the most robust interaction between the surfactant and water molecules in the lamellar structure under DSC. The formulation was stable in long-term normal and accelerated conditions. Above all, Formulation D, which was formulated with Lecinol S-10 with Tween 80, had the best clinical result, was nonirritating to the skin, and can be used as a cream base in the pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical sectors.

Abstract:Nano-emulsions consist of stable suspensions of nano-scaled droplets that have huge loading capacities and are formulated with safe compounds. For these reasons, a large number of studies have described the potential uses of nano-emulsions, focusing on various aspects such as formulation processes, loading capabilities, and surface modifications. These studies typically concern direct nano-emulsions (i.e., oil-in-water), whereas studies on reverse nano-emulsions (i.e., water-in-oil) remain anecdotal. However, reverse nano-emulsion technology is very promising (e.g., as an alternative to liposome technology) for the development of drug delivery systems that encapsulate hydrophilic compounds within double droplets. The spontaneous emulsification process has the added advantages of optimization of the energetic yield, potential for industrial scale-up, improved loading capabilities, and preservation of fragile compounds targeted for encapsulation. In this study, we propose a detailed investigation of the processes and formulation parameters involved in the spontaneous nano-emulsification that produces water-in-oil nano-emulsions. The following details were addressed: (i) the order of mixing of the different compounds (method A and method B), (ii) mixing rates, (iii) amount of surfactants, (iv) type and mixture of surfactants, (v) amount of dispersed phase, and (vi) influence of the nature of the oil. The results emphasized the effects of the formulation parameters (e.g., the volume fraction of the dispersed phase, nature or concentration of surfactant, or nature of the oil) on the nature and properties of the nano-emulsions formed.

Abstract:This research aims to optimize the parameters for the production of a stable nanoemulsion containing a mixture of essential oils (EOs) with a surfactant blend (Tween and Span 80) and assess its antimicrobial potency against spoilage bacteria and foodborne pathogens. The impact of a surfactant blend's hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) as well as surfactant:oil ratio was investigated based on the mean particle size (z-average) and polydispersity index (PDI). Results showed HLB value of 12 and a ratio of surfactant to oil at 0.75:1 exhibited an emulsion with the smallest z-average and PDI. Following this, a response surface methodology (RSM) employing central composite design (CCD) was utilized to formulate an optimal nanoemulsion using the microfluidization (MF) technique. The RSM revealed that the microfluidizer pressure of 15,000 psi and 5 cycles produces a z-average of 38.11 nm, PDI of 0.27, ζ-potential of 37.8 mV, and EE of 83.8%. The comparison between the experimental and anticipated results of the optimized nanoemulsion revealed no significant differences (p > 0.05). The optimal nanoemulsion displayed excellent stability during 30 days of storage at both 4 and 30 °C compared to 5 days for coarse emulsion. The nanoemulsion exhibited potent antimicrobial activity, showing minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values in the range of 0.019 to 0.156 μL/mL, surpassing the antimicrobial efficacy of the coarse emulsion, which had MIC values between 0.039 to 0.312 μL/mL. Thus, this study emphasized the efficacy of RSM design in developing an optimal nanoemulsion with enhanced antimicrobial properties using EOs, making it a promising natural food preservative.

Abstract:Amongst the three fundamental components of a skin-care cosmetic emulsion, namely, oil, water, and emulsifiers (mainly surfactants), naturally derived alternatives to synthetic surfactants are yet to be utilized to their fullest potential, owing to their satisfactory properties like critical micelle concentration, hydrophilic-lipophilic balance, and critical packing parameter. Currently, there are no significant efforts towards green emulsions involving one or more biosurfactants, while significant combinations in varying proportions of their chemical contemporaries exist in the literature. The present study focuses on formulating a stable nanoemulsion system using a cocktail of a plant-derived surfactant ( Quillaja saponin) and a microbial-derived surfactant (surfactin), using coconut oil as a base oil. With a limited understanding of the behavior of mixed biosurfactant systems and their underlying interactions, most essentially the interactions between different hydrophilic moieties such as a cyclic peptide group of surfactin and oligosaccharides of Q . saponin, the primary focus of this study is to tune up the composition of biosurfactants that results in a stable nanoemulsion. A high-energy ultrasonication method is employed to formulate the emulsion, and hierarchical-based screening of various combinations has led us toward an optimal combination of composition and operating conditions. Six samples have been identified as better among the 20-sample set, and their stability has been tested for 45 days. However, based on the optimal energy consumption and oil-to-surfactant ratio, sample 6 of cluster 5 have been identified to be the best amongst the samples, with a mean droplet size of 173 nm, polydispersity index of 0.195 along with a zeta potential of –65 mV. Stability analyses involving heat, salt, pH, and centrifugation tests have proved the stability of the best-performing sample. This study can be a precursor to future formulation using mixed micellar systems.

Abstract:In this study, the effects of sodium caseinate (NaCN; emulsifier) concentration, a type of hydrophilic emulsifier, as well as concentration of primary W/O emulsion on the stability of water–oil-water (W/O/W) emulsions were investigated. Emulsions were made using two different emulsification techniques including ultrasonic liquid processing and high pressure homogenization (HPH). Microscopy images of W/O/W emulsions in combination with droplet size analysis and viscosity measurements showed that the sample with a higher percentage of primary W/O emulsion (50 wt% vs. 40 wt% and 25 wt%) was more resistant to coalescence (narrower droplet size distribution and lower creaming index). The higher stability of this emulsion at 50 wt% is due to the enhancement in the solution viscosity which slows down the coalescence and destabilization kinetics. The increase in the NaCN concentration from 0.3 wt% to 0.9 wt% (based on total weight of emulsion) led to formation of larger droplets possibly due to the destabilization of primary W/O emulsion through the disruption of polyglycerol polyricinoleate (PGPR) layer. Regarding the effect of emulsifier type, incorporation of Cremophor EL and Tween 60 in comparison with NaCN resulted in formation of smaller droplet size due to their enhanced surface activity at the interface. Finally, we found that using high pressure homogenizer (HPH) instead of ultrasonic processor was detrimental to the emulsion stability and size distribution. These findings further provide new pathways to design emulsion systems for food and drug delivery applications.

Abstract:The goal of this investigation is to develop stable ophthalmic nanoformulations containing cannabidiol (CBD) and its analog cannabidiol-valine-hemisuccinate (CBD-VHS) for improved ocular delivery. Two nanoformulations, nanoemulsion (NE) and nanomicelles (NMC), were developed and evaluated for physicochemical characteristics, drug-excipient compatibility, sterilization, thermal analysis, surface morphology, ex-vivo transcorneal permeation, corneal deposition, and stability. The saturation solubility studies revealed that among the surfactants tested, Cremophor EL had the highest solubilizing capacity for CBD (23.3 ± 0.1 mg/mL) and CBD-VHS (11.2 ± 0.2 mg/mL). The globule size for the lead CBD formulations (NE and NMC) ranged between 205 and 270 nm while CBD-VHS-NMC formulation had a particle size of about 78 nm. The sterilized formulations, except for CBD-VHS-NMC at 40 °C, were stable for three months of storage (last time point tested). Release, in terms of CBD, in the in-vitro release/diffusion studies over 18 h, were faster from the CBD-VHS nanomicelles (38 %) compared to that from the CBD nanoemulsion (16 %) and nanomicelles (33 %). Transcorneal permeation studies revealed improvement in CBD permeability and flux with both formulations; however, a greater improvement was observed with the NMC formulation compared to the NE formulation. In conclusion, the nanoformulations prepared could serve as efficient topical ocular drug delivery platforms for CBD and its analog.

Abstract:Nanoemulgels are novel formulations of great interest for their use as dual-release systems and as fat substitutes in foods. Lemon essential oil, with a large number of benefits due to its antimicrobial, antifungal, and medicinal properties, and low methoxyl pectin, a natural polysaccharide capable of gelling by adding divalent ions such as calcium, are very appropriate ingredients to produce nanoemulgels with potential applications in industries such as cosmetics, agrochemistry, pharmaceuticals, or food. In this work, lemon-essential-oil-in-water nanoemulgels containing low methoxyl pectin derived from citrus peels were prepared following a three-step process that involves the preparation of a nanoemulsion, a pectin gel, and the mixture of both. In the first stage, the stirring time and the rotational rate employed during the mixing step were assessed. Once the preparation protocol was established, the pectin gel/nanoemulsion mass ratio was investigated. Different techniques were combined to evaluate the influence of the processing and the composition variables on the particle size distribution, mean diameters, flow curves, and physical stability of different emulgels obtained. It was found that the processing variables studied, stirring time, and rotational rate, do not influence the mean particle size of the emulgel, with values matching those of the starting nanoemulsion. However, 3 min and 200 rpm were selected for exhibiting the lowest TSI values. Regarding the composition, a higher content of pectin gel caused a higher viscosity, and therefore a higher physical stability, with the 75P/25E emulgel being the most stable. Aggregation of gel particles, because the pectin gel was really a sheared gel, was the main responsible contributor to the results obtained. This work highlights the importance of the preparation and formulation variables to develop stable, innovative formulations based on nanoemulgels.

Abstract:Introduction: Shea butter is a natural lipid widely used in topical formulations because of its hydrating, anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties on the skin. The aims of this study was to develop lipid- based nanoparticles using local shea butter as building material for topical and transdermal applications. Methods: The nanoparticles of shea butter were made using three different processes (high shear homogenization, phase inversion temperature or solvent injection techniques. The formulation factors were optimized. The obtained nanoparticle suspensions were evaluated for particle size using dynamic light scattering, polydispersity index, zeta potential and physicochemical stability. Subsequently the aqueous colloidal suspension obtained by high shear homogenization technique was converted into a gel by adding 0,5 % Carbopol 980NF (polymer) as a gelling agent and subsequent neutralization with sodium hydroxide. The gel formulations were investigated for pH and viscosity measurements at day The viscosity was assessed at 26°C using a rotational viscometer STS-2011 (shear rate of 2 s-1, spindle n°R4, 10 rpm). Results: The optimized conditions make it possible to obtain nanoparticles with average sizes of 54.1 ± 5.0 nm, 99.1 ± 1.0 nm and 161.5 ± 4.4 nm, when the phase inversion temperature, high shear homogenization or the solvent injection techniques were respectively used. All optimized formulations showed a narrow size distribution and the zeta potential values were between -20 and -38 mV depending on the technique used. The three colloidal suspensions were considered physically stable at room temperature for at least three months as no significant changes in mean size, polydispersity index or zeta potential values were observed. The gel formulations exhibited viscosities of 32 800 ±100 mPa.s with pH values of 5,0 ± 0,5. Conclusion: In order to evaluate their potential as a new carrier system for skin delivery and as a follow- up to these promising initial results, morphological analysis of the nanosystems and evaluation of their encapsulation capacity are in progress, before in vitro skin permeation and retention studies are considered.

Haider Nano-emulsions are a novel drug delivery system, in which mix two immiscible liquids, normally oil and water with the addition a proper surfactant and co-surfactant to obtain a single uniform phase, in many cases must be used more than one surfactant to improve the stability of nanoemulsion, in this survey consideration is focused to provide brief information about the formulation, a strategy of preparation, characterization procedure, evaluation parameter as particle size, polydispersity, drug content, zeta potential, and different application of nanoemulsion, it is thermodynamically unsteady colloidal dispersion systems having an average droplet size which ranges from 10 to 200 nm, the decrease in a bead size to nanoscale leads to alter in physical properties such as uncommon elastic behavior and optical transparency and get better bioavailability and good targeting. The formulation of O/W nanoemulsion where hydrophobic drugs are dissolved within the oil phase consider the common approach of nanoemulsion utilization in biomedical application. The essential thought behind these formulations is that nanodroplets act as a medium to transport hydrophobic drugs. The advantage of nanodroplets when compared to the bigger droplet sized emulsions is the upgraded stability and progressed pharmacological activity nanoemulsions have broad applications in numerous areas other than pharmaceutics, like in cosmetics, nourishment and other applications owing to many benefits of nanoemulsion as higher stability versus coalescence, lack of harmfulness or irritant effect, minimal viscosity, good appearance, as well as the flexibility of formulation like liquids, creams in addition to sprays.
