Abstract:The equations will be ill-conditioning when the polynomial order is large in the course of establishing structural frequency response function with rational fraction polynomials.To overcome the drawback a kind of improved discrete orthogonal polynomials have been proposed in fourier domain developed from relatives in real domain which not only overcomes the unnecessary computation incurred by negative frequencies but also makes the equations uncoupled.Overcoming this numerical problem has made this technique more effective.

Abstract:We investigate the -classical orthogonal polynomials, where is the weighted difference operator. So, we address the problem of finding the sequence of orthogonal polynomials such that their -derivatives is also orthogonal polynomials. To solve this problem we adopt a different approach to those employed in this topic. We first begin by determining the coefficients involved in their recurrence relations, and then providing an exhaustive list of all solutions. When , we rediscover the classical orthogonal polynomials of Hermite, Laguerre, Bessel and Jacobi. For , we encounter the families of discrete classical orthogonal polynomials as particular cases.

Abstract:For a family of polynomials in two variables, orthogonal with respect to a weight function, we prove under some conditions, equivalence between: the Matrix Pearson equation of the weight, the second order linear partial differential equation, the orthogonality of the gradients, the Matrix Rodrigues formula involving tensor product of Matrices, and the so-called first structure relation. We then propose a definition of classical orthogonal polynomials in two variables.

Abstract:This paper presents a class of random orthogonal sequences associated with the number theoretic Hilbert transform. We present a constructive procedure for finding the random sequences for different modulus values. These random sequences have autocorrelation function that is zero everywhere excepting at the origin. These sequences may be used as keys and in other cryptography applications.

Abstract:In this paper, we derive a pair of finite univariate biorthogonal polynomials suggested by the finite univariate orthogonal polynomials $M_{n}^{(p,q)}(x)$. The corresponding biorthogonality relation is given. Some useful relations and properties, concluding differential equation and generating function, are presented. Further, a new family of finite biorthogonal functions is obtained using Fourier transform and Parseval identity. In addition, we compute the Laplace transform and fractional calculus operators for polynomials $M_{n}(p,q,\upsilon;x)$.

An extension of the associated rational functions on the unit circle

Abstract:A special class of orthogonal rational functions (ORFs) is presented in this paper. Starting with a sequence of ORFs and the corresponding rational functions of the second kind, we define a new sequence as a linear combination of the previous ones, the coefficients of this linear combination being self-reciprocal rational functions. We show that, under very general conditions on the self-reciprocal coefficients, this new sequence satisfies orthogonality conditions as well as a recurrence relation. Further, we identify the Caratheodory function of the corresponding orthogonality measure in terms of such self-reciprocal coefficients. The new class under study includes the associated rational functions as a particular case. As a consequence of the previous general analysis, we obtain explicit representations for the associated rational functions of arbitrary order, as well as for the related Caratheodory function. Such representations are used to find new properties of the associated rational functions.

Abstract:In this paper we prove some characterizations of the matrix orthogonal polynomials whose derivatives are also orthogonal, which generalize other known ones in the scalar case. In particular, we prove that the corresponding orthogonality matrix functional is characterized by a Pearson-type equation with two matrix polynomials of degree not greater than 2 and 1. The proofs are given for a general sequence of matrix orthogonal polynomials, not necessarily associated with an hermitian functional. However, we give several examples of non-diagonalizable positive definite weight matrices satisfying a Pearson-type equation, which show that the previous results are non-trivial even in the positive definite case. A detailed analysis is made for the class of matrix functionals which satisfy a Pearson-type equation whose polynomial of degree not greater than 2 is scalar. We characterize the Pearson-type equations of this kind that yield a sequence of matrix orthogonal polynomials, and we prove that these matrix orthogonal polynomials satisfy a second order differential equation even in the non-hermitian case. Finally, we prove and improve a conjecture of Duran and Grunbaum concerning the triviality of this class in the positive definite case, while some examples show the non-triviality for hermitian functionals which are not positive definite.

Abstract:In this paper, a finite set of biorthogonal polynomials in two variables is produced using Konhauser polynomials. Some properties containing operational and integral representation, Laplace transform, fractional calculus operators of this family are studied. Also, computing Fourier transform for the new set, a new family of biorthogonal functions are derived via Parseval's identity. On the other hand, this finite set is modified by adding two new parameters in order to have semigroup property and construct fractional calculus operators. Further, integral equation and integral operator are also derived for the modified version.

Abstract:Orthogonal rational functions (ORF) on the unit circle generalize orthogonal polynomials (poles at infinity) and Laurent polynomials (poles at zero and infinity). In this paper we investigate the properties of and the relation between these ORF when the poles are all outside or all inside the unit disk, or when they can be anywhere in the extended complex plane outside the unit circle. Some properties of matrices that are the product of elementary unitary transformations will be proved and some connections with related algorithms for direct and inverse eigenvalue problems will be explained.

Abstract:Knowing a sequence of moments of a given, infinitely supported, distribution we obtain quickly: coefficients of the power series expansion of monic polynomials $\left\{ p_{n}\right\} _{n\geq 0}$ that are orthogonal with respect to this distribution, coefficients of expansion of $x^{n}$ in the series of $p_{j},$ $j\leq n$, two sequences of coefficients of the 3-term recurrence of the family of $\left\{ p_{n}\right\} _{n\geq 0}$, the so called "linearization coefficients" i.e. coefficients of expansion of $% p_{n}p_{m}$ in the series of $p_{j},$ $j\leq m+n.$\newline Conversely, assuming knowledge of the two sequences of coefficients of the 3-term recurrence of a given family of orthogonal polynomials $\left\{ p_{n}\right\} _{n\geq 0},$ we express with their help: coefficients of the power series expansion of $p_{n}$, coefficients of expansion of $x^{n}$ in the series of $p_{j},$ $j\leq n,$ moments of the distribution that makes polynomials $\left\{ p_{n}\right\} _{n\geq 0}$ orthogonal. \newline Further having two different families of orthogonal polynomials $\left\{ p_{n}\right\} _{n\geq 0}$ and $\left\{ q_{n}\right\} _{n\geq 0}$ and knowing for each of them sequences of the 3-term recurrences, we give sequence of the so called "connection coefficients" between these two families of polynomials. Abstract:In this paper we consider an appropriate ordering of the Laurent monomials $x^{i}y^{j}$, $i,j \in \mathbb{Z}$ that allows us to study sequences of orthogonal Laurent polynomials of the real variables $x$ and $y$ with respect to a positive Borel measure $\mu$ defined on $\mathbb{R}^2$ such that $\{ x=0 \}\cup \{ y=0 \} \not\in \textrm{supp}(\mu)$. This ordering is suitable for considering the {\em multiplication plus inverse multiplication operator} on each varibale $\left( x+\frac{1}{x}\right.$ and $\left. y+\frac{1}{y}\right)$, and as a result we obtain five-term recurrence relations, Christoffel-Darboux and confluent formulas for the reproducing kernel and a related Favard's theorem. A connection with the one variable case is also presented, along with some applications for future research.

Abstract:We prove that the Möbius function is orthogonal to polynomials over $\mathbb{F}_q[x]$ (up to a characteristic condition). We use this orthogonality property to count prime solutions to affine-linear equations of bounded complexity in $\mathbb{F}_p[x]$, with analog to a work of Green and Tao.
