Abstract:We study the correspondence between equivalence classes of pairs consisting of real semisimple Lie algebras and their Cartan subalgebras and involutions of the corresponding root system. This can be graphically described by introducing \emph{$S\!${-} and $\Sigma$-diagrams}, generalizing those of Satake and Vogan.

Abstract:We introduce a notion of a root groupoid as a replacement of the notion of Weyl group for (Kac-Moody) Lie superalgebras. The objects of the root groupoid classify certain root data, the arrows are defined by generators and relations. As an abstract groupoid the root groupoid has many connected components and we show that to some of them one can associate an interesting family of Lie superalgebras which we call root superalgebras. We classify root superalgebras satisfying some additional assumptions. To each root groupoid component we associate a graph (called skeleton) generalizing the Cayley graph of the Weyl group. We establish the Coxeter property of the skeleton generalizing in this way the fact that the Weyl group of a Kac-Moody Lie algebra is Coxeter.

Abstract:Let g be a complex semisimple Lie algebra with an involutory automorphism theta. Let t be the corresponding symmetric subalgebra and h be a fundamental Cartan subalgebra of g containing a Cartan subalgebra t of t. Let Delta(g, h) and Delta(g, t) be the respective root systems of g with respect to h and t. The pair (Delta(g, h), theta) is a fundamental involutory root system. We prove that there exists natural 1-1 correspondences between theta-stable Weyl chambers of Delta(g, h) and Weyl chambers of Delta(g, t) and that the Weyl group of Delta(g, t) acts simply transitively on the above two sets of Weyl chambers. Regard a finite dimensional complex irreducible g-module V as a t-module, based on the above results we show that some certain irreducible modules of t will occur in V.

Let $\mathfrak{g} = \mathfrak{k} \oplus \mathfrak{p}$ and $\mathfrak{h} = \mathfrak{t} \oplus \mathfrak{a}$ be the corresponding complexifications. The set $\Delta {\left( {\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{t}} \right)}$ consists of all the linear forms on $\mathfrak{t}$ which are the restriction to $\mathfrak{t}$ of the roots in the root system $\Delta {\left( {\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}} \right)}$ of $\mathfrak{g}$ with respect to $\mathfrak{h}$. The main result of the paper is to prove that $\Delta {\left( {\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{t}} \right)}$ is also a (maybe non-reduced) root system and its Weyl group can be identified with a subgroup of the Weyl group of $\Delta {\left( {\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}} \right)}$. Abstract:We prove a new system of relations in the tautological ring of the moduli space of curves involving stable rooted trees with level structure decorated by the top Chern class of the Hodge bundle and $\Omega$-classes and double ramification structures. In particular, this resolves a recent conjecture on these relations as well as connects with one of the two sides of the recently established DR/DZ equivalence between the integrable hierarchies constructions of Buryak and of Dubrovin--Zhang.

Abstract:We consider subsets of linearly independent roots in a certain root system $\varPhi$. Let $S'$ be such a subset, and let $S'$ be associated with any Carter diagram $\Gamma'$. The main question of the paper: what root $\gamma \in \varPhi$ can be added to $S'$ so that $S' \cup \gamma$ is also a subset of linearly independent roots? This extra root $\gamma$ is called the linkage root. The vector $\gamma^{\nabla}$ of inner products $\{(\gamma,\tau'_i)\mid \tau'_i \in S'\}$ is called the linkage label vector. Let $B_{\Gamma'}$ be the Cartan matrix associated with $\Gamma'$. It is shown that $\gamma$ is a linkage root if and only if $\mathscr{B}^{\vee}_{\Gamma'}(\gamma^{\nabla}) < 2$, where $\mathscr{B}^{\vee}_{\Gamma'}$ is a quadratic form with the matrix inverse to $B_{\Gamma'}$. The set of all linkage roots for $\Gamma'$ is called a linkage system and is denoted by $\mathscr{L}(\Gamma')$. The Cartan matrix associated with any Carter diagram $\Gamma'$ is conjugate to the Cartan matrix associated with some Dynkin diagram $\Gamma$, [St23]. The sizes of $\mathscr{L}(\Gamma')$ and $\mathscr{L}(\Gamma)$ are the same. Let $W^{\vee}$ be the Weyl group of the quadratic form $\mathscr{B}^{\vee}_{\Gamma'}$. This group acts on the linkage system and forms several orbits. The sizes and structure of orbits for linkage systems $\mathscr{L}(D_l)$ and $\mathscr{L}(D_l(a_k))$ are presented.

Abstract:We study root-theoretic Young diagrams to investigate the existence of a Lie-type uniform and nonnegative combinatorial rule for Schubert calculus. We provide formulas for (co)adjoint varieties of classical Lie type. This is a simplest case after the (co)minuscule family (where a rule has been proved by <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://H.Thomas" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> and the second author using work of <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://R.Proctor" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>). Our results build on earlier Pieri-type rules of <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://P.Pragacz-J.Ratajski" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> and of <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://A.Buch-A.Kresch-H.Tamvakis" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>. Specifically, our formula for OG(2,2n) is the first complete rule for a case where diagrams are non-planar. Yet the formulas possess both uniform and non-uniform features. Using these classical type rules, as well as results of <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://P.-E.Chaput-N.Perrin" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> in the exceptional types, we suggest a connection between polytopality of the set of nonzero Schubert structure constants and planarity of the diagrams. On involutions of minuscule Kirillov algebras induced by real structures

Abstract:We study Kirillov algebras attached to minuscule highest weight representations of semisimple Lie algebras. They can be viewed as equivariant cohomology algebras of partial flag varieties. Real structures on the varieties then induce involutions of these algebras. We describe how these involutions act on the spectra of minuscule Kirillov algebras, and model the fixed points via the equivariant cohomology of real partial flag varieties. We then use this model to characterise freeness of the fixed point coordinate ring over the appropriate base. As an application, we recover a $q=-1$ phenomenon of Stembridge in the minuscule case by geometric means.

Abstract:For a Lie superalgebra with Cartan matrix over a field of positive characteristic, some information about its root system in terms of the system of simple roots corresponding to the Chevalley generators is described, under certain given assumptions. This information may be useful for finding other systems of simple roots of such a Lie superalgebra and other Cartan matrices which produce Lie superalgebras isomorphic to a given one.

Abstract:Let D be a reduced effective strict normal crossing divisor on a smooth complex variety X , and let be the associated root stack over . Suppose that X admits an anti-holomorphic involution (real structure) that keeps D invariant. We show that the root stack naturally admits a real structure compatible with X . We also establish an equivalence of categories between the category of real logarithmic connections on this root stack and the category of real parabolic connections on X .

Abstract:We introduce a class of graphs with coloured edges to encode subsystems of the classical root systems, which in particular classify them up to equivalence. We further use the graphs to describe root-kernel intersections, as well as restrictions of root (sub)systems on such intersections, generalising the regular part of a Cartan subalgebra. We also consider a slight variation to encode the hyperplane arrangements only, showing there is a unique noncrystallographic arrangement that arises. Finally, a variation of the main definition leads to elementary classifications of closed and Levi root subsystems.

Abstract:Given $G$ an algebraic reductive group over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero and $\Gamma$ a finitely generated group, we provide a stratification of the $G$-character variety of $\Gamma$ in terms of conjugacy classes of parabolic subgroups of $G$. Each stratum has the structure of a pseudo-quotient, which is a relaxed GIT notion capturing the topology of the quotient and, therefore, behaving well for motivic computations of invariants of the character varieties. These stratifications are constructed by analyzing the root datum of $G$ to encode parabolic classes. Finally, detailed and explicit motivic formulae are provided for cases with Dynkin diagram of types $A$, $B$, $C$ and $D$.

Restriction Theorems and Root Systems for Symmetric Superspaces

Abstract:In this paper we consider those involutions $\theta$ of a finite-dimensional Kac-Moody Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak g$, with associated decomposition $\mathfrak g=\mathfrak k\oplus\mathfrak p$, for which a Cartan subspace $\mathfrak a$ in $\mathfrak p_{\bar 0}$ is self-centralizing in $\mathfrak p$. For such $\theta$ the restriction map $C_\theta$ from $\mathfrak p$ to $\mathfrak a$ is injective on the algebra $P(\mathfrak p)^{\mathfrak k}$ of $\mathfrak k$-invariant polynomials on $\mathfrak p$. There are five infinite families and five exceptional cases of such involutions, and for each case we explicitly determine the structure of $P(\mathfrak p)^{\mathfrak k}$ by giving a complete set of generators for the image of $C_\theta$. We also determine precisely when the restriction map $R_\theta$ from $P(\mathfrak g)^{\mathfrak g}$ to $P(\mathfrak p)^{\mathfrak k}$ is surjective. Finally we introduce the notion of a generalized restricted root system, and show that in the present setting the $\mathfrak a$-roots $\Delta(\mathfrak a,\mathfrak g)$ always form such a system.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a smooth projective variety over the complex numbers and $S(d)$ the scheme parametrizing $d$-dimensional Lie subalgebras of $H^0(X,\mathcal{T} X)$. This article is dedicated to the study of the geometry of the moduli space $\text{Inv}$ of involutive distributions on $X$ around the points $\mathcal{F}\in \text{Inv}$ which are induced by Lie group actions. For every $\mathfrak{g} \in S(d)$ one can consider the corresponding element $\mathcal{F}(\mathfrak{g})\in \text{Inv}$, whose generic leaf coincides with an orbit of the action of $\exp(\mathfrak{g})$ on $X$. We show that under mild hypotheses, after taking a stratification $\coprod_i S(d)_i\to S(d)$ this assignment yields an isomorphism $\phi:\coprod_i S(d)_i\to \text{Inv}$ locally around $\mathfrak{g}$ and $\mathcal{F}(\mathfrak{g})$. This gives a common explanation for many results appearing independently in the literature. We also construct new stable families of foliations which are induced by Lie group actions.

Abstract:Results are obtained concerning the roots of asymmetric geometric representations of Coxeter groups. These representations were independently introduced by Vinberg and Eriksson, and generalize the standard geometric representation of a Coxeter group in such a way as to include all Kac--Moody Weyl groups. In particular, a characterization of when a non-trivial multiple of a root may also be a root is given in the general context. Characterizations of when the number of such multiples of a root is finite and when the number of positive roots sent to negative roots by a group element is finite are also given. These characterizations are stated in terms of combinatorial conditions on a graph closely related to the Coxeter graph for the group. Other finiteness results for the symmetric case which are connected to the Tits cone and to a natural partial order on positive roots are extended to this asymmetric setting.

Abstract:For any Carter diagram $\Gamma$ containing 4-cycle, we introduce the partial Cartan matrix $B_L$, which is similar to the Cartan matrix associated with a Dynkin diagram. A linkage diagram is obtained from $\Gamma$ by adding one root together with its bonds such that the resulting subset of roots is linearly independent. The linkage diagrams connected under the action of dual partial Weyl group (associated with $B_L$) constitute the linkage system, which is similar to the weight system arising in the representation theory of the semisimple Lie algebras. For Carter diagrams $E_6(a_i)$ and $E_6$ (resp. $E_7(a_i)$ and $E_7$; resp. $D_n(a_i)$ and $D_n$), the linkage system has, respectively, 2, 1, 1 components, each of which contains, respectively, 27, 56, $2n$ elements. Numbers 27, 56 and $2n$ are well-known dimensions of the smallest fundamental representations of semisimple Lie algebras, respectively, for $E_6$, $E_7$ and $D_n$. The 8-cell "spindle-like" linkage subsystems called loctets play the essential role in describing the linkage systems. It turns that weight systems also can be described by means of loctets.

Abstract:Splints of root system of simple lie algebras appears naturally on studies of embedding of reductive subalgebras. A splint can be used to construct a branching rules as implementation of this idea simplifies calculation of branching coefficient. We extend the concept of splints to classical lie superalgebras cases as these algebras have wide application in physics.

Abstract:We show the uniqueness and existence of the Euler form for a simply-laced generalized root system. This enables us to show that the Coxeter element for a simply-laced generalized root system is admissible in the sense of R.~W.~Carter. As an application, the isomorphism classes of simply-laced generalized root systems with positive definite Cartan forms are classified by Cartar's admissible diagrams associated to their Coxeter elements.
