Abstract:We show that an idempotent lies in the center if it commutes with the other idempotents in the ring. Next, we introduce a partition of the set of idempotents and show that the automorphisms of the ring act transitively on each equivalence class.

Moreover, we provide a partial characterization for the infinite Cartesian product of the same. Then, we study the abundance of some large sets near idempotent. Also, we investigate the effect of tensor product near idempotent. Finally, as an application we provide the polynomial extension of Milliken-Taylor theorem near zero.

Abstract:Tootkaboni and Vahed introduced the notion of some large sets near idempotent along with some combinatorial properties. We characterize when the finite Cartesian product of central sets near idempotent is central near idempotent. Moreover, we provide a partial characterization for the infinite Cartesian product of the same. We then study the abundance of some large sets near idempotent. We also investigate the effect of tensor product near zero. Finally, as an application we provide a characterization of members of polynomials (with constant term 0) evaluated at idempotents in a near zero semigroup.

Abstract:This study delves into the structure and properties of left inverse zero divisor bands within semigroups, identifying their maximal forms and broadening the theoretical landscape of semigroup analysis. A significant focus is placed on the automorphisms of a semigroup S of centralizers of idempotent transformations with restricted range, revealing that these automorphisms are inner ones and induced by the units of S. Additionally, we establish that the automorphism group Aut(S) is isomorphic to US, the group of units of S. These findings extend previous results on semigroups of transformations, enhancing their applicability and providing a more unified theory. The practical implications of this work span multiple fields, including automata theory, coding theory, cryptography, and graph theory, offering tools for more efficient algorithms and models. By simplifying complex concepts and providing a solid foundation for future research, this study makes significant contributions to both theoretical and applied mathematics.

A partition formula from idempotents

Abstract:A formula which only involves a partition number and elementary functions is derived by applying Burnside's Lemma to the set of idempotent maps from a set to itself. One side involves a summation over a set closely related to the partition number, however. Some speculation is made as to how to eliminate this summation.

Abstract:In this article, we first prove a general theorem which asserts that every quasi-component of a quasi-spectral space is connected. As an application, it is shown that every connected component of a quasi-compact quasi-separated scheme is the intersection of all clopen (both open and closed) subsets containing a point. In particular, the connected components of an affine scheme Spec$(R)$ are precisely of the form $V(J)$ where $J$ is a proper ideal of the ring $R$ generated by a set of idempotent elements such that $R/J$ has no nontrivial idempotents. The above result also contributes to the following open problem: Is there a way to describe the connected components of the projective space $\mathbb{P}_{A}^{n}={\rm Proj}(A[x_{0},\ldots,x_{n}])$ in a precise form (similar the affine case)? Next, we characterize the finiteness of the number of connected components of an arbitrary (quasi-compact) topological space in terms of purely algebraic conditions. In particular, a topological space $X$ has finitely many connected components if and only if $X$ has finitely many clopens. In this case, $|{\rm Clop}(X)|=2^n$ where $n$ is the number of connected components of $X$. More surprisingly, we prove that a quasi-compact space $X$ has finitely many connected components, i.e. $\kappa=|\pi_{0}(X)|<\infty$ if and only if $|{\rm Clop}(X)|=2^\kappa$. In the same vein, we prove that a commutative ring $R$ has finitely many idempotents if and only if there exists a decomposition $R\simeq\prod\limits_{k=1}^{n}R/(1-e_{k})$ with each $e_k$ is a primitive idempotent of $R$.

Abstract:Let $R$ be a ring with unity. The \emph{idempotent graph} $G_{\text{Id}}(R)$ of a ring $R$ is an undirected simple graph whose vertices are the set of all the elements of ring $R$ and two vertices $x$ and $y$ are adjacent if and only if $x+y$ is an idempotent element of $R$. In this paper, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition on the ring $R$ such that $G_{\text{Id}}(R)$ is planar. We prove that $G_{\text{Id}}(R)$ cannot be an outerplanar graph. Moreover, we classify all the finite non-local commutative rings $R$ such that $G_{\text{Id}}(R)$ is a cograph, split graph and threshold graph, respectively. We conclude that latter two graph classes of $G_{\text{Id}}(R)$ are equivalent if and only if $R \cong \mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2 \times \cdots \times \mathbb{Z}_2$.

Abstract:We prove that over an algebraically closed field $\mathbb{K}$ of characteristic different from $2$, the group algebra $R=\mathbb{K} D_\infty$ of the infinite dihedral group $D_\infty$ has exactly six conjugacy classes of involutions (equivalently, of idempotents). This allows us to recover the fact that $R$ admits exactly four non-isomorphic indecomposable projective modules of the form $eR$ where $e$ is an idempotent, a result that was first established by Berman and Buzási.

The first section provides an overview of the motivation behind our work. In the second section, our main focus is to establish the characterization of weak right η -centralizers while addressing the theory of functional identities, particularly in the challenging case of low dimensions. Furthermore, in the third section, we derive the characterization of weak Jordan σ -derivations based on the aforementioned characterization.

Abstract:The circle composition e1°e2=e1+e2−e1e2 is well-known from the seminal book of Jacobson. A part of our motivation aims to find non-orthogonal idempotents e 1 and e 2 such that e1°e2 is an idempotent. Such idempotents are the products rl where r is a right semicentral and l is a left semicentral idempotent of the ring of upper triangular matrices over a ring. We prove that in the semigroup of upper triangular matrices over ring with only trivial idempotents every idempotent matrix can be represented as a circle composition of products of the type rl .

Abstract:This article studies the ring structure arising from products of idempotents and nilpotents. Thus the argument is concerned essentially with the one-sided IQNN property of rings. We first prove that if the $2$ by $2$ full matrix ring over a principal ideal domain $F$ of characteristic zero is right IQNN then $F$ contains infinitely many non-integer rational numbers; and that the concepts of right IQNN and right quasi-Abelian are independent of each other. We next introduce a ring property, called {\it right IAN}, as a generalization of both right IQNN and right quasi-Abelian; and provide several kinds of methods to construct right IAN rings. In the procedure, we also show that the right IQNN and right IAN do not go up to polynomial rings.

Abstract:The theory of generalized inverses of matrices and operators is closely connected with projections, i.e., idempotent (bounded) linear transformations. We show that a similar situation occurs in any associative ring $\mathcal{R}$ with a unit $1 \neq 0$. We prove that generalized inverses in $\mathcal{R}$ are related to idempotent group endomorphisms $\rho: \mathcal{R} \rightarrow \mathcal{R}$, called projectors. We use these relations to give characterizations and existence conditions for $\{1\}$, $\{2\}$, and $\{1,2\}$ inverses with any given principal/annihilator ideals. As a consequence, we obtain sufficient conditions for any right/left ideal of $\mathcal{R}$ to be a principal or an annihilator ideal of an idempotent element of $\mathcal{R}$. We then study some particular generalized inverses: Drazin and $(b,c)$ inverses, and in rings with involution, $(e,f)$ Moore-Penrose, $e$-core, $f$-dual core, $w$-core, $v$-dual core, right $w$-core, left $v$-dual core, and $(p,q)$ inverses.

Inner isotopes associated with automorphisms of commutative associative algebras

Abstract:The principal observation of the present paper is that an inner isotopy (i.e. a principal isotopy defined by an algebra endomorphism) is a very helpful instrument in constructing and studying interesting classes of nonassociative algebras. By using methods developed in the paper, we define a new class of commutative nonassociative algebras obtained by inner isotopy from commutative associative polynomial algebras. There is a natural bijection between isomorphism classes of our algebras and integer partitions of the algebra dimensions. Among the interesting features of the nonassociative algebras constructed are that these algebras are generic, some of examples are axial and metrized algebras. We completely describe both the set of algebra idempotents and their spectra.
