Abstract:We investigate the influence of quasiperiodic modulations on one-dimensional non-Hermitian diamond lattices with an artificial magnetic flux $\theta$ that possess flat bands. Our study shows that the symmetry of these modulations and the magnetic flux $\theta$ play a pivotal role in shaping the localization properties of the system. When $\theta=0$, the non-Hermitian lattice exhibits a single flat band in the crystalline case, and symmetric as well as antisymmetric modulations can induce accurate mobility edges. In contrast, when $\theta=\pi$, the clean diamond lattice manifests three dispersionless bands referred to as an "all-band-flat" (ABF) structure, irrespective of the non-Hermitian parameter. The ABF structure restricts the transition from delocalized to localized states, as all states remain localized for any finite symmetric modulation. Our numerical calculations further unveil that the ABF system subjected to antisymmetric modulations exhibits multifractal-to-localized edges. Multifractal states are predominantly concentrated in the internal region of the spectrum. Additionally, we explore the case where $\theta$ lies within the range of $(0, \pi)$, revealing a diverse array of complex localization features. Finally, we propose a classical electrical circuit scheme to realize the non-Hermitian flat-band chain with quasiperiodic modulations.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is the influence of quasi - periodic modulation on the localization characteristics in one - dimensional non - Hermitian flat - band lattices. Specifically, the researchers focus on: 1. **Quasi - periodic modulation and synthetic magnetic flux**: The paper explores the influence of quasi - periodic modulations and synthetic magnetic flux \(\theta\) on the localization properties of the system. In particular, how are the energy - band structures and localization characteristics of the system different when \(\theta = 0\) and \(\theta=\pi\). 2. **Symmetric and antisymmetric modulations**: The researchers analyze the influence of symmetric modulations and antisymmetric modulations on the localization characteristics of the system. How do these modulations affect the energy - band structure and mobility edges of the system? 3. **Multifractal states**: The paper also explores whether multifractal states will appear in the system under certain conditions and the distribution characteristics of these states. Multifractal states are between extended states and localized states and have unique physical properties. 4. **Experimental implementation scheme**: Finally, the researchers propose a method to realize non - Hermitian flat - band chains using classical electrical circuits, which makes it possible to experimentally verify the theoretical results. ### Main research contents - **Energy - band structure**: The energy - band structure of the system under different synthetic magnetic fluxes \(\theta\) is studied. In particular, how are the energy - band structures of the system different when \(\theta = 0\) and \(\theta=\pi\). - **Mobility edges**: The mobility edges under symmetric and antisymmetric modulations are analyzed. These edges determine the transition of the system from extended states to localized states. - **Multifractal states**: The possibility of the appearance of multifractal states in the system under certain conditions is explored, and the distribution characteristics of these states are analyzed. - **Experimental scheme**: An experimental scheme for realizing non - Hermitian flat - band chains using classical electrical circuits is proposed, which makes it possible to experimentally verify the theoretical results. ### Formula examples - **Energy - band dispersion relation**: \[ E_0 = 0, \quad E_{\pm}(k) = \pm 2J\sqrt{\frac{1 + \cos\theta}{2}}\cos\left(\frac{\theta}{2}+k - ih\right) \] - **Mobility edge formula**: - Symmetric case: \[ \lambda_c=\left|\frac{4M}{E_c - K}\right| \] - Antisymmetric case: \[ \lambda_c=\left|\frac{8M}{E_c - K}\right| \] - General case: \[ \lambda_c = 2\sqrt{\frac{E_cM}{E_c - K}}\sqrt{2(1 + \cos\theta)+2(1 - \cos\theta)\frac{M^2}{(E_c - K)^2}} \] Through these studies, the paper aims to deeply understand the localization phenomenon in non - Hermitian systems and provide a theoretical basis for future research and experiments.
