Abstract:Based on the properties of a coefficient guideline function of generalized Jamison's weighted sums, the strong convergence properties are discussed of generalized Jamison weighted sums for pairwise NQD sequences. Some rusults about them for NA sequences are extended to the case of pairwise NQD sequences.The conditions of those previous conclusions are weakened.And the last examples are given to show that the conclusions are better than that.

Abstract:We consider the generalized Newton method (GNM) for the absolute value equation (AVE) . The method has finite termination property whenever it is convergent, no matter whether the AVE has a unique solution. We prove that GNM is convergent whenever . We also present new results for the case where is a nonsingular M -matrix or an irreducible singular M -matrix. When is an irreducible singular M -matrix, the AVE may have infinitely many solutions. In this case, we show that GNM always terminates with a uniquely identifiable solution, as long as the initial guess has at least one nonpositive component.

Abstract:In this note, we show a sublinear nonergodic convergence rate for the algorithm developed in [Bai, et al. Generalized symmetric ADMM for separable convex optimization. Comput. Optim. Appl. 70, 129-170 (2018)], as well as its linear convergence under assumptions that the sub-differential of each component objective function is piecewise linear and all the constraint sets are polyhedra. These remaining convergence results are established for the stepsize parameters of dual variables belonging to a special isosceles triangle region, which aims to strengthen our understanding for convergence of the generalized symmetric ADMM.
On congruence properties of poly-Bernoulli numbers with negative upper-indices

Abstract:For any integer $k$, <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://M.Kaneko" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> defined $k$-th poly-Bernoulli numbers as a kind of generalization of classical Bernoulli numbers using $k$-th polylogarithm. In case when $k$ is positive, $k$-th poly-Bernoulli numbers is a sequence of rational numbers as same as classical Bernoulli numbers. On the other hand, in case when $k$ is negative, it is a sequence of positive integers, and many combinatoric and number theoretic properties has been investigated. In the present paper, the negative case is treated, and their congruence and $p$-adic properties are discussed. Beside of them, application of the results to obtain a congruence property for the number of lonesum matrices is also mentioned.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate a generalized multiplicative problem (GMP) that is known to be NP-hard even with one linear product term. We first introduce some criterion-space variables to obtain an equivalent problem of the GMP. A criterion-space branch-reduction-bound algorithm is then designed, which integrates some basic operations such as the two-level linear relaxation technique, rectangle branching rule and criterion-space region reduction technologies. The global convergence of the presented algorithm is proved by means of the subsequent solutions of a series of linear relaxation problems, and its maximum number of iterations is estimated on the basis of exhaustiveness of branching rule. Finally, numerical results demonstrate the presented algorithm can efficiently find the global optimum solutions for some test instances with the robustness.

On Generalized Wilf Conjectures

Abstract:We investigate complement-finite submonoids of the monoid of nonnegative integer points of a unipotent linear algebraic group $G$. These monoids are in general noncommutative but they specialize to the generalized numerical monoids of Cistco et al. We show that every unipotent numerical monoid has a unique finite minimal generating set. We propose a generalization of the Wilf conjecture in our setting. We contrast our Wilf conjecture against the Generalized Wilf Conjecture. Then we isolate two new families of unipotent numerical monoids called the {\em thick} and the {\em thin} unipotent numerical monoids. We prove that our Wilf conjecture holds for every thick (commutative) unipotent numerical monoid. Under additional assumptions on the conductors, we prove that our Wilf conjecture holds for every thin (commutative) unipotent numerical monoid.

Abstract:In this paper, we reinvestigate an old problem of prescribing Gaussian curvature in the negative case. In 1974, Kazdan and Warner considered the equation - Delta u + alpha = R(x) e(u) , x epsilon M, on any compact two dimensional manifold M with alpha < 0. They showed that there exists a number α(o), such that the equation is solvable for every 0 > alpha > alpha(o) and it is not solvable for alpha < α(o). Then one may naturally ask: Is the equation solvable for α = α(o)? In this paper, we answer the question affirmatively. We show that there exists at least one solution for α = α(o).

Abstract:The joint numerical range of tuples of matrices is a powerful tool for proving results which are useful in optimization, such as the -lemma. Here we provide a similar proof for another result, namely the equivalence of a certain positivity criterion to Duffin's overdamping condition involving quadratic matrix-valued polynomials. We show how the proof is generalizable to higher degrees of matrix-valued polynomials.

Abstract:Let $\displaystyle \sum_{i=a}^b \frac{1}{i} = \frac{u_{a,b}}{v_{a,b}}$ with $u_{a,b}$ and $v_{a,b}$ coprime. Erdős and Graham asked the following: Does there, for every fixed $a$, exist a $b$ such that $v_{a,b} < v_{a,b-1}$? If so, what is the least such $b = b(a)$? In this paper we will investigate these problems in a more general setting, answer the first question in the affirmative and obtain the bounds $a + 0.54\log(a) < b(a) \le 4.374(a-1)$, which hold for all large enough $a$.

A Note on Generalized Repunit Numerical Semigroups

Abstract:Let $A=(a_1, a_2, ..., a_n)$ be relative prime positive integers with $a_i\geq 2$. The Frobenius number $F(A)$ is the largest integer not belonging to the numerical semigroup $\langle A\rangle$ generated by $A$. The genus $g(A)$ is the number of positive integer elements that are not in $\langle A\rangle$. The Frobenius problem is to find $F(A)$ and $g(A)$ for a given sequence $A$. In this note, we study the Frobenius problem of $A=\left(a,ba+d,b^2a+\frac{b^2-1}{b-1}d,...,b^ka+\frac{b^k-1}{b-1}d\right)$ and obtain formulas for $F(A)$ and $g(A)$ when $a\geq k-1$. Our formulas simplifies further for some special cases, such as repunit, Mersenne and Thabit numerical semigroups. The idea is similar to that in [\cite{LiuXin23},<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2306.03459" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2306.03459">arXiv:2306.03459</a>].

On the local negativity of surfaces with numerically trivial canonical class

Abstract:In this note we study the local negativity for certain configurations of smooth rational curves in smooth surfaces with numerically trivial canonical class. We show that for such rational curves there is a bound for the so-called local Harbourne constants, which measure the local negativity phenomenon. Moreover, we provide explicit examples of interesting configurations of rational curves in some K3 and Enriques surfaces and compute their local Harbourne constants.

Abstract:In numerical linear algebra, a well-established practice is to choose a norm that exploits the structure of the problem at hand to optimise accuracy or computational complexity. In numerical polynomial algebra, a single norm (attributed to Weyl) dominates the literature. This article initiates the use of norms for numerical algebraic geometry, with an emphasis on . This classical idea yields strong improvements in the analysis of the number of steps performed by numerous iterative algorithms. In particular, we exhibit three algorithms where, despite the complexity of computing -norm, the use of -norms substantially reduces computational complexity: a subdivision-based algorithm in real algebraic geometry for computing the homology of semialgebraic sets, a well-known meshing algorithm in computational geometry and the computation of zeros of systems of complex quadratic polynomials (a particular case of Smale's 17th problem).

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the following pseudo-relativistic Choquard equations: $$\begin{aligned} (-\Delta +m^{2})^{s} u+wu=R_{N,t}\left( \frac{1}{|x-y|^{N-2t}}*u^{p}\right) u^{q}, \quad \mathrm{in} \;\;\mathbb {R}^{N}, \end{aligned}$$ where $$s,t\in (0,1)$$ , mass $$m>0$$ , $$w>-m^{2s}$$ , $$2<p<\infty $$ , and $$0<q\le p-1$$ . We first establish a narrow region principle for pseudo-relativistic Choquard equations and estimate the decay of the solutions at infinity. Using the generalized direct method of moving planes, we obtain the radial symmetry and monotonicity of nonnegative solutions for the above equations.

Abstract:The concept and some preliminary properties of generalized difference sets are proposed.In view of application,generalized difference sets are such a kind of combinato- rial structures whose±1 characteristic sequences have (at most) triple-valued autocorrelation functions.Therefore,generalized difference sets are not only a generalization in the respect of conception,but also have some application backgrounds.In fact,some examples are given, which show that there are some generalized difference sets such that they are neither divisible difference sets,nor relative difference sets.Moreover,some examples are presented here to illustrate that our methods works for obtaining almost perfect sequences.
Generalized Numerical semigroups up to isomorphism

Abstract:A generalized numerical semigroup is a submonoid $S$ of $\mathbb{N}^d$ with finite complement in it. We characterize isomorphisms between these monoids in terms of permutation of coordinates. Considering the equivalence relation that identifies the monoids obtained by the action of a permutation and establishing a criterion to select a representative from each equivalence class, we define some procedures for generating the set of all generalized numerical semigroups of given genus up to isomorphism. Finally, we present computational data and explore properties related to the number of generalized numerical semigroups of a given genus up to isomorphism.

On the partial condition numbers for the indefinite least squares problem

Abstract:The condition number of a linear function of the indefinite least squares solution is called the partial condition number for the indefinite least squares problem. In this paper, based on a new and very general condition number which can be called the unified condition number, the expression of the partial unified condition number is first presented when the data space is measured by the general weighted product norm. Then, by setting the specific norms and weight parameters, we obtain the expressions of the partial normwise, mixed and componentwise condition numbers. Moreover, the corresponding structured partial condition numbers are also taken into consideration when the problem is structured, whose expressions are given. Considering the connections between the indefinite and total least squares problems, we derive the (structured) partial condition numbers for the latter, which generalize the ones in the literature. To estimate these condition numbers effectively and reliably, the probabilistic spectral norm estimator and the small-sample statistical condition estimation method are applied and three related algorithms are devised. Finally, the obtained results are illustrated by numerical experiments.

Abstract:The concept of a four-dimensional generalized difference matrix and its domain on some double sequence spaces was recently introduced and studied by Tuğ and Başar (AIP Conference Proceedings, vol. 1759, 2016) and Tuğ (J. Inequal. Appl. 2017(1):149, 2017). In this present paper, as a natural continuation of (J. Inequal. Appl. 2017(1):149, 2017), we introduce new almost null and almost convergent double sequence spaces [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] as the four-dimensional generalized difference matrix [Formula: see text] domain in the spaces [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], respectively. Firstly, we prove that the spaces [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] of double sequences are Banach spaces under some certain conditions. Then we give an inclusion relation of these new almost convergent double sequence spaces. Moreover, we identify the α-dual, [Formula: see text]-dual and γ-dual of the space [Formula: see text]. Finally, we characterize some new matrix classes [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], and we complete this work with some significant results.
