Abstract:Bloch wave functions of electrons have properties called quantum geometry, which has recently attracted much attention as the origin of intriguing physical phenomena. In this paper, we introduce the notion of the quantum-geometric pair potentials (QGPP) based on the generalized band representation and thereby clarify how the quantum geometry of electrons is transferred to the Cooper pairs they form. QGPP quantifies the deviation of multiband superconductors from an assembly of single-band superconductors and has a direct connection to the quantum-geometric corrections to thermodynamic coefficients. We also discuss their potential ability to emulate exotic pair potentials and engineer intriguing superconducting phenomena including topological superconductivity.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is how to encode the quantum geometric properties of normal - state electrons into Cooper pairs, and explore how these quantum geometric properties affect the equilibrium properties of superconductors. Specifically, the author introduced the concept of quantum geometric pair potential (QGPP), and based on the generalized band representation, explained the differences between multi - band superconductors and single - band superconductors, as well as how quantum geometry affects superconducting phenomena by modifying thermodynamic coefficients. In addition, the paper also discussed the potential of QGPP in simulating exotic pair potentials and designing interesting superconducting phenomena (such as topological superconductivity). ### Main contributions of the paper 1. **Proposal of quantum geometric pair potential (QGPP)**: - QGPP quantifies the deviation of multi - band superconductors relative to single - band superconductors. - QGPP is directly related to the modification of thermodynamic coefficients by quantum geometry. 2. **Encoding of quantum geometry in Cooper pairs**: - Through the generalized band representation, it clarifies how the quantum geometric properties of normal - state electrons are transferred to Cooper pairs. - It emphasizes the different roles of time - reversal symmetry in single - band models and multi - band systems. 3. **Influence of quantum geometry on free energy and magnetic susceptibility**: - The contribution of QGPP to free energy is derived and decomposed into parametric magnetic susceptibility, diamagnetic susceptibility and QGPP contribution. - The response of QGPP under different external fields, such as superfluid weight, spin magnetic susceptibility and superconducting Edelstein effect, is discussed. 4. **Generalization to non - s - wave states**: - The concept of QGPP is generalized to arbitrary pairing potentials, especially non - s - wave states. - The potential of QGPP in inducing topological superconductivity, especially in the presence of spin - orbit coupling and external magnetic fields, is discussed. ### Structure of the paper - **Introduction**: Introduces the importance of quantum geometry in superconductors, especially the research background of topological superconductivity. - **Application of QGPP in non - degenerate band systems**: The form of QGPP in non - degenerate band systems is derived in detail, and its influence on free energy and magnetic susceptibility is discussed. - **Application of QGPP in degenerate band systems**: It is further generalized to degenerate band systems, and the form and significance of QGPP in the presence of band degeneracy are discussed. - **Conclusion**: Summarizes the important role of QGPP in understanding multi - band superconductors and looks forward to future research directions. ### Examples of formulas - **Definition of QGPP**: \[ [\Delta_b(k;q)]_{nm} e^{i\theta_{nm}(k,q)}=\Delta_0 \delta_{nm}+[\Delta_g(k;q)]_{nm} \] where \(\Delta_g(k;q)\) is QGPP and \(\theta_{nm}(k,q)\) is the phase factor. - **Decomposition of free energy**: \[ \Omega(q)=\Omega(0)+\Omega_c(q)+\Omega_g(q) \] where \(\Omega_c(q)\) is the conventional contribution and \(\Omega_g(q)\) is the QGPP contribution. - **Correction of superfluid weight**: \[ D_{ij}^S = D_{ij}^{\text{para}}+D_{ij}^{\text{dia}}+D_{ij}^g \] where \(D_{ij}^g\) is the unique contribution of QGPP to the superfluid weight. Through these studies, the paper provides new perspectives and tools for understanding and designing superconducting materials with complex quantum geometric properties.
