Abstract:In this paper, based on the Diophantine equation technique, we first prove the circulant graph C(Zn,{k1,k2}) is isomorphic to the disjoint union of gcd (n,k1,k2) identical graphs, which belong to one of the three types of graphs: (i) C(Zn{1,k}) ; (ii) the Cartesian graph bundle Cs□φCt over cycles; (iii) the Cartesian product of the complete graph K2 and a cycle. Naturally, to study the dispersability of C(Zn,{k1,k2}) can be reduced to study that of the above three types. Next, we solve the dispersability of the circulant graph C(Zn,{1,k}) . Specifically, C(Zn,{1,k}) is dispersable if it is a bipartite; otherwise, it is nearly dispersable. In addition, we prove that bipartite circulant graphs are dispersable.

Abstract:Let n be a positive integer with a factor k such that n≥3k. Let q be a prime power, and let Gq(n,k) be the set of all k-dimensional Fq-subspaces of the field Fqn. In this paper, we construct cyclic subspace codes in Gq(n,k) with minimum distance 2k−2 and size (⌈n2k⌉−1)⋅(qn−1)qkq−1. In the case n=3k, their sizes differ from the sphere-packing bound for subspace codes by a factor of 1q−1 asymptotically as k goes to infinity. Our construction makes use of variants of the Sidon spaces constructed by Roth et al. (2018) and analogous to the results they attained for the case n=2k. We also establish the existence of Sidon spaces of Gq(7k,2k), and thus we resolve part of the conjecture about the existence of cyclic subspace codes in Gq(n,k) with minimum distance 2k−2 and size qn−1q−1.

Abstract:Circulant graphs have been applied to Ramsey type problem,parallel computing and networks.A basic problem in research of circulant graphs is counting nonisomorphic circulant graphs.Given positive integers n and k,let C(n,k) denote the number of connected and pairwise nonisomorphic circulant graphs having n vertices and valency k.In this paper first we obtain C(n,5) by using the parameters C(n,4) and C(n/2,4).Then we investigate structure of circulant graphs with valency 4 for computing C(n,4).Finally,as an application of the previous results,we calculate C(n,4),for n = pa qb with p,q primes and a,b ≥ 0.

Abstract:The numbers of spanning connected unicyclic subgraphs and spanning connected bicyclic subgraphs are essential parameters in studying network reliability. However, these two parameters have hardly been studied. Only in 1983, Liu studied the enumeration of spanning connected unicyclic(bicyclic) subgraphs, which is mainly calculated by the determinant of the cycle adjacency matrix. But for large networks, the calculation of the determinant of cycle adjacency matrix is extremely complex. In this paper, we present a reduction method to compute the number of spanning connected unicyclic(bicyclic) subgraphs of 2-separable networks. As an application, we enumerate the number of spanning connected unicyclic(bicyclic) subgraphs in fractal scale-free networks by linear algorithm. The exact expression of the number of spanning connected unicyclic(bicyclic) subgraphs is obtained. On this basis, the entropy of the number of spanning connected unicyclic(bicyclic) subgraphs is determined. This research provides helpful guidance for computing the number of spanning connected unicyclic(bicyclic) subgraphs of general 2-connected networks.

Abstract:Let $\Gamma(n,k)$ be the set of $2$-connected $n$-vertex graphs containing an edge that is not on any cycle of length at least $k+1.$ Let $g_s(n,k)$ denote the maximum number of $s$-cliques in a graph in $\Gamma(n,k).$ Recently, Ji and Ye [SIAM J. Discrete Math., 37 (2023) 917-924] determined $g_s(n,k).$ They remark that it is interesting to characterize the extremal graphs. In this paper, we give such a characterization.

Abstract:A graph $G = (V, E)$ is said to be word-representable if a word $w$ can be formed using the letters of the alphabet $V$ such that for every pair of vertices $x$ and $y$, $xy \in E$ if and only if $x$ and $y$ alternate in $w$. A \textit{semi-transitive} orientation is an acyclic directed graph where for any directed path $v_0 \rightarrow v_1 \rightarrow \ldots \rightarrow v_m$, $m \ge 2$ either there is no arc between $v_0$ and $v_m$ or for all $1 \le i < j \le m$ there is an arc between $v_i$ and $v_j$. An undirected graph is semi-transitive if it admits a semi-transitive orientation. For given positive integers $n, a_1, a_2, \ldots, a_k$, we consider the undirected circulant graph with set of vertices $\{0, 1, 2, \ldots, n-1\}$ and the set of edges$\{ij ~ | ~ (i - j) \pmod n$ or $(j-i) \pmod n$ are in $\{a_1, a_2, \ldots, a_k\}\}$, where $ 0 < a_1 < a_2 < \ldots < a_k < (n+1)/2$. Recently, Kitaev and Pyatkin have shown that every $4$-regular circulant graph is semi-transitive. Further, they have posed an open problem regarding the semi-transitive orientability of circulant graphs for which the elements of the set $\{a_1, a_2, \ldots, a_k\}$ are consecutive positive integers. In this paper, we solve the problem mentioned above. In addition, we show that under certain assumptions, some $k(\ge5)$-regular circulant graphs are semi-transitive, and some are not. Moreover, since a semi-transitive orientation is a characterisation of word-representability, we give some upper bound for the representation number of certain $k$-regular circulant graphs.

Balanced Clique Subdivisions and Cycles Lengths in K_s, T-Free Graphs

Abstract:Let t≥ s≥2 be integers. Confirming a conjecture of Mader, Liu and Montgomery [J. Lond. Math. Soc., 2017] showed that every K_s, t-free graph with average degree d contains a subdivision of a clique with at least Ω(d^s/2(s-1)) vertices. We give an improvement by showing that such a graph contains a balanced subdivision of a clique with the same order, where a balanced subdivision is a subdivision in which each edge is subdivided the same number of times. In 1975, Erdős asked whether the sum of the reciprocals of the cycle lengths in a graph with infinite average degree d is necessarily infinite. Recently, Liu and Montgomery [J. Amer. Math. Soc., 2023] confirmed the asymptotically correct lower bound on the reciprocals of the cycle lengths, and provided a lower bound of at least (1/2 -o_d(1)) log d. In this paper, we improve this low bound to (s/2(s-1) -o_d(1)) log d for K_s, t-free graphs. Both proofs of our results use the graph sublinear expansion property as well as some novel structural techniques.
A strong structural stability of $C_{2k+1}$-free graphs

Abstract:Füredi and Gunderson showed that $ex(n, C_{2k+1})$ is achieved only on $K_{\lfloor\frac{n}{2}\rfloor, \lceil\frac{n}{2}\rceil}$ if $n\ge 4k-2$. It is natural to study how far a $ C_{2k+1}$-free graph is from being <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://bipartite.Let" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> $T^*(r, n)$ be obtained by adding a suspension $K_{r}$ with $1$ suspension point to $K_{\lfloor\frac{n-r+1}{2}\rfloor, \lceil\frac{n-r+1}{2}\rceil}$. We show that for integers $r, k$ with $3\le r\le 2k-4$ and $n\ge 20(r+2)^2k$, if $G$ is a $C_{2k+1}$-free $n$-vertex graph with $e(G)\ge e(T^*(r, n))$, then $G$ is obtained by adding suspensions to a bipartite graph one by one and the total number of vertices in all suspensions minus intersection points is no more than $r-1$. In other words, $G=B\bigcup\limits_{i=1}^p G_i$, where $B$ is a bipartite graph, $G_1$ is a suspension to $B$, $G_j$ is a suspension to $B\bigcup\limits_{i=1}^{j-1} G_i$ for $2\le j\le p$ and $\sum\limits_{i=1}^p \vert V(G_i)-V(G_i)\cap V(B\bigcup\limits_{i=1}^{j-1} G_i) \vert\le r-1$. Furthermore, $\sum\limits_{i=1}^p \vert V(G_i)-V(G_i)\cap V(B\bigcup\limits_{i=1}^{j-1} G_i) \vert= r-1$ if and only if $G=T^*(r, n)$. Let $d_2(G)=\min\{|T|: T\subseteq V(G), G-T \ \text{is bipartite}\}$ and $\gamma_2(G)=\min\{|E|: E\subseteq E(G), G-E \ \text{is bipartite}\}$. Our structural stability result implies that $d_2(G)\le r-1$ and $\gamma_2(G)\le {\lceil\frac{r}{2}\rceil \choose 2}+{\lfloor\frac{r}{2}\rfloor \choose 2}$ under the same condition, which is a recent result of Ren-Wang-Wang-Yang [SIAM J. Discrete Math. 38 (2024)]. They proved $d_2(G)\le r-1$ and $\gamma_2(G)\le {\lceil\frac{r}{2}\rceil \choose 2}+{\lfloor\frac{r}{2}\rfloor \choose 2}$ separately. We introduce a new concept strong-$2k$-core which is the key that we can give a stronger structural stability result but a simpler proof.

Kohayakawa-Nagle-R{ö}dl-Schacht conjecture for subdivisions

Abstract:In this paper, we study the well-known Kohayakawa-Nagle-R{ö}dl-Schacht (KNRS) conjecture, with a specific focus on graph subdivisions. The KNRS conjecture asserts that for any graph $H$, locally dense graphs contain asymptotically at least the number of copies of $H$ found in a random graph with the same edge density. We prove the following results about $k$-subdivisions of graphs (obtained by replacing edges with paths of length $k+1$): (1). If $H$ satisfies the KNRS conjecture, then its $(2k-1)$-subdivision satisfies Sidorenko's conjecture, extending a prior result of Conlon, Kim, Lee and Lee; (2). If $H$ satisfies the KNRS conjecture, then its $2k$-subdivision satisfies a constant-fraction version of the KNRS conjecture; (3). If $H$ is regular and satisfies the KNRS conjecture, then its $2k$-subdivision also satisfies the KNRS conjecture. These findings imply that all balanced subdivisions of cliques satisfy the KNRS conjecture, improving upon a recent result of Bradač, Sudakov and Wigerson. Our work provides new insights into this pivotal conjecture in extremal graph theory.

More results on the spectral radius of graphs with no odd wheels

Abstract:For a graph $G$, the spectral radius $\lambda_{1}(G)$ of $G$ is the largest eigenvalue of its adjacency matrix. An odd wheel $W_{2k+1}$ with $k\geq2$ is a graph obtained from a cycle of order $2k$ by adding a new vertex connecting to all the vertices of the cycle. Let ${\rm SPEX}(n,W_{2k+1})$ be the set of $W_{2k+1}$-free graphs of order $n$ with the maximum spectral radius. Very recently, Cioabă, Desai and Tait \cite{CDT2} characterized the graphs in ${\rm SPEX}(n,W_{2k+1})$ for sufficiently large $n$, where $k\geq2$ and $k\neq4,5$. And they left the case $k=4,5$ as a problem. In this paper, we settle this problem. Moreover, we completely characterize the graphs in ${\rm SPEX}(n,W_{2k+1})$ when $k\geq4$ is even and $n\equiv2~(\mod4)$ is sufficiently large. Consequently, the graphs in ${\rm SPEX}(n,W_{2k+1})$ are characterized completely for any $k\geq2$ and sufficiently large $n$.

Abstract:Let $G$ be the circulant graph $C_n(S)$ with $S \subseteq \{1, 2, \dots, \lfloor \frac{n}{2} \rfloor\}$, and let $I(G)$ denote the edge ideal in the polynomial ring $R=\mathbb{K}[x_0, x_1, \dots, x_{n-1}]$ over a field $\mathbb{K}$. In this paper, we compute the $\mathbb{N}$-graded Betti numbers of the edge ideals of three families of circulant graphs $C_n(1,2,\dots,\widehat{j},\dots,\lfloor \frac{n}{2} \rfloor)$, $C_{lm}(1,2,\dots,\widehat{2l},\dots, \widehat{3l},\dots,\lfloor \frac{lm}{2} \rfloor)$ and $C_{lm}(1,2,\dots,\widehat{l},\dots,\widehat{2l},\dots, \widehat{3l},\dots,\lfloor \frac{lm}{2} \rfloor)$. Other algebraic and combinatorial properties like regularity, projective dimension, induced matching number and when such graphs are well-covered, Cohen-Macaulay, Sequentially Cohen-Macaulay, Buchsbaum and $S_2$ are also discussed.

On the sizes of generalized cactus graphs

Abstract:A cactus is a connected graph in which each edge is contained in at most one cycle. We generalize the concept of cactus graphs, i.e., a k -cactus is a connected graph in which each edge is contained in at most k cycles where k≥1 . It is well known that every cactus with n vertices has at most ⌊32(n−1)⌋ edges. Inspired by it, we attempt to establish analogous upper bounds for general k -cactus graphs. In this paper, we first characterize k -cactus graphs for 2≤k≤4 based on the block decompositions. Subsequently, we give tight upper bounds on their sizes. Moreover, the corresponding extremal graphs are also characterized. However, for larger k , this extremal problem remains unsolved. Besides, we prove that every 2-connected k -cactus ( k≥1 ) with n vertices has at most n+k−1 edges, and the bound is tight if n≥k+2 .

Abstract: The book embedding of a graph $G$ is to place the vertices of $G$ on the spine and draw the edges to the pages so that the edges in the same page do not cross with each other. A book embedding is matching if the vertices in the same page have maximum degree at most 1. The matching book thickness is the minimum number of pages in which a graph can be matching book embedded. A graph $G$ is dispersable if and only if $mbt(G)=\Delta(G)$. In this paper, we prove that bipartite cubic planar graphs are dispersable.
Hypergeometric SLE: Conformal Markov Characterization and Applications

Abstract:This article pertains to the classification of pairs of simple random curves with conformal Markov property and symmetry. We give the complete classification of such curves: conformal Markov property and symmetry single out a two-parameter family of random curves—Hypergeometric SLE—denoted by $$\mathrm {hSLE}_{\kappa }(\nu )$$ for $$\kappa \in (0,4]$$ and $$\nu <\kappa -6$$. The proof relies crucially on Dubédat’s commutation relation (Commun Pure Appl Math 60(12):1792–1847, 2007) and a uniqueness result proved in Miller and Sheffield (Ann Probab 44(3):1647–1722, 2016). The classification indicates that hypergeometric SLE is the only possible scaling limit of the interfaces in critical lattice models (conjectured or proved to be conformally invariant) in topological rectangles with alternating boundary conditions. We also prove various properties of $$\mathrm {hSLE}_{\kappa }(\nu )$$ with $$\kappa \in (0,8)$$: continuity, reversibility, target-independence, and conditional law characterization. As by-products, we give two applications of these properties. The first one is about the critical Ising interfaces. We prove the convergence of the Ising interface in rectangles with alternating boundary conditions. This result was first proved by Izyurov (Commun Math Phys 337(1):225–252, 2015), and our proof is different. Our method is based on the properties of $$\mathrm {hSLE}$$ and is easy to generalize to more complicated boundary conditions and to other models. The second application is the existence of the so-called pure partition functions of multiple SLEs. Such existence was proved for $$\kappa \in (0,8){\setminus } {\mathbb {Q}}$$ in Kytölä and Peltola (Commun Math Phys 346(1):237–292, 2016), and it was later proved for $$\kappa \in (0,4]$$ in Peltola and Wu (Commun. Math. Phys. 366(2):469–536, 2019). We give a new proof of the existence for $$\kappa \in (0,6]$$ using the properties of $$\mathrm {hSLE}$$.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a simple connected graph. If every pendant path in $G$ is at least $P_s$, we denote that $G\in \mathbb{G}_s$. Furthermore, if every pendant path in $G$ is at least $P_s$ and $g(G) \geq k \geq 3$, where $g(G)$ is the girth of $G$, we say that $G\in \mathbb{G}_{s,k}$. For $G \in \mathbb{G}_s$, let $Q_s(G)$ be the set of vertices in $G$ that are distance $s$ from the pendant vertex, and let $|Q_s(G)| = q_s(G)$. For $G \in \mathbb{G}_s$, Li et al. (2024) proved that when $\lambda$ is not an eigenvalue of $P_s$ and $G$ is neither a cycle nor a starlike tree $T_k$, it holds that $m_G(\lambda) \leq 2c(G) + q_s(G) - 1$ and characterized the extremal graphs when $G$ is a tree. In this article, we characterize the extremal graphs for which $m_G(\lambda) = 2c(G) + q_s(G) - 1$ when $G \in G_{s,s+2}$. Furthermore, we extend some of the results of Li et al. using star sets.
