Abstract:We study conditions under which the germinal groupoid associated to a minimal equicontinuous action of a countable group on a Cantor set has non-Hausdorff topology. We develop a new criterion, which serves as an obstruction for the étale topology on the groupoid to be non-Hausdorff. We use this and other criteria to study the topology of germinal groupoids for a few classes of actions. In particular, we give examples of families of contracting and non-contracting self-similar groups, which are amenable and whose actions have associated germinal groupoids with non-Hausdorff topology.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is about the study of the topological properties of germinal groupoids under specific group actions. Specifically, the author is concerned with whether the topology of the associated germinal groupoid is non - Hausdorff when a countable group acts minimally and equicontinuously on the Cantor set. The main goal of the paper is to develop a new criterion as an obstruction to the non - Hausdorff property of the germinal groupoid topology and use this criterion and other standards to study the topological properties of germinal groupoids under several types of actions. ### Core problems of the paper 1. **Conditions for non - Hausdorff germinal groupoids**: - The author has studied under which conditions the germinal groupoid corresponding to the minimal equicontinuous action of a countable group on the Cantor set has a non - Hausdorff topology. - A new criterion has been developed to determine whether the topology of the germinal groupoid is non - Hausdorff. 2. **Analysis of specific group actions**: - Through this new criterion and other known standards, the author has studied the topologies of germinal groupoids under several types of specific discrete group actions. - In particular, the author has given several examples of contracting and non - contracting self - similar groups. These groups are solvable and their actions have germinal groupoids with non - Hausdorff topologies. ### Main results 1. **New criterion**: - Theorem 3.13 extends the known results about profinite group actions and generalizes them to the scenario of countable group actions. - This new criterion can be used as an obstruction to the non - Hausdorff property of the germinal groupoid topology. 2. **Specific examples**: - The author has provided several specific examples, including the iterated monodromy groups of quadratic polynomials and non - contracting weakly branch groups. In these examples, the groups are solvable and their actions have germinal groupoids with non - Hausdorff topologies. 3. **Classification and invariants**: - The author has classified minimal equicontinuous actions through the topological properties of germinal groupoids, especially the classification of stable and wild actions. - Some new invariants, such as direct limit stabilizer groups and centralizer groups, have been introduced to further study the properties of these actions. ### Formulas and definitions - **Definition of germinal groupoid**: \[ \text{Let }(X, \Gamma, \Phi)\text{ be an action of a group }\Gamma\text{ on a topological space }X\text{. For }g_1, g_2\in\Gamma\text{, if }\Phi(g_1)\text{ and }\Phi(g_2)\text{ are germ - equivalent at }x\in X\text{, that is, }\Phi(g_1)(x)=\Phi(g_2)(x)\text{, and there exists an open neighborhood }U\subset X\text{ of }x\text{ such that }\Phi(g_1)|_U = \Phi(g_2)|_U\text{, then we write }\Phi(g_1)\sim_x\Phi(g_2). \] - **Definition of non - Hausdorff elements**: \[ \text{Let }\Gamma\text{ be a countable or profinite group acting on a topological space }X\text{. An element }g\in\Gamma\text{ is called a non - Hausdorff element at }x\in X\text{ if it satisfies the following conditions:} \] 1. \(g\cdot x = x\) 2. \(g\) is not the identity map on any open neighborhood \(W\) containing \(x\). 3. For any neighborhood \(W\) of \(x\), there exists an open set \(O\subset W\subset X\)
