Abstract:Many authors have studied the local dynamics of holomorphic maps in C around a fixed point; see, for example, [4; 6] for an introduction to this field and known results. Most of the results are obtained under the assumption that the linear part of the map at the fixed point is diagonalizable. There are few results in the nondiagonalizable case. In [8], Coman and Dabija studied a special map with a Jordan fixed point and described its stable and unstable manifolds. In [1], Abate provided a systematic way of diagonalizing a map with a Jordan fixed point and proved several results under certain assumptions. In [2], Abate showed the existence of “parabolic curves” for holomorphic maps in C2 with an isolated Jordan fixed point. In [3], Abate studied a special map with a Jordan fixed point and proved the existence of an attracting domain under certain conditions. The aim of this paper is to provide a detailed study of the local dynamics of holomorphic maps in C2 with a Jordan fixed point. Let f be a holomorphic map in C2 with a Jordan fixed point. Abstract:In this paper, we explore the local geometry of dynamical systems $\dot{x}=F(x)$ with real time parameterization, where $F$ is holomorphic on connected open subsets of $\mathbb{C}\stackrel{\sim}{=}\mathbb{R}^2$. We describe the geometry of first-order equilibria. For equilibria of higher orders, we establish an equivalent condition for "definite directions", allowing us to reverse the implication in Theorem 2 of Chapter 2.10 in [Differential equations and dynamical systems, Lawrence Perko (1990)] under the additional condition of holomorphy. This enables the geometric construction of a finite elliptic decomposition. We derive a holomorphic Poincaré-Bendixson-type theorem, leading to the conclusion that bounded non-periodic orbits are always homoclinic or heteroclinic.

Abstract:In this work we introduce a topological method for the search of fixed points and periodic points for continuous maps defined on generalized rectangles in finite dimensional Euclidean spaces. We name our technique "Stretching Along the Paths" method, since we deal with maps that expand the arcs along one direction. Our technique is also significant from a dynamical point of view, as it allows to detect complex dynamics. In particular, we are able to prove semi-conjugacy to the Bernoulli shift and thus positivity of the topological entropy, the presence of topological transitivity and sensitivity with respect to initial conditions, density of periodic points. Moreover, our approach, although mathematically rigorous, avoids the use of sophisticated topological theories and it is relatively easy to apply to specific models arising in the applications. For example we have here employed the Stretching along the paths method to study discrete and continuous-time models arising from economics and biology.

Abstract:We give an interpretation of the Riemann hypothesis in terms of complex and topological dynamics. For example, the Riemann hypothesis is affirmative and all zeros of the Riemann zeta function are simple if and only if a certain meromorphic function has no attracting fixed point. To obtain this, we use holomorphic index (residue fixed point index), which characterizes local properties of fixed points in complex dynamics.

Abstract:Relationship for dynamical properties in the vicinity of fixed points between two-dimensional continuous and its positivity-preserving discretized dynamical systems is studied. Based on linear stability analysis, we reveal the conditions under which the dynamical structures of the original continuous dynamical systems are retained in their discretized dynamical systems, and the types of fixed points are identified if they change due to discretization. We also discuss stability of the fixed points in the discrete dynamical systems. The obtained general results are applied to Sel'kov model and Lengyel-Epstein model.

Holonomy of parabolic geometries near isolated higher-order fixed points

Abstract:For Cartan geometries admitting automorphisms with isotropies satisfying a particular, loosely dynamical property on their model geometries, we demonstrate the existence of an open subset of the geometry with trivial holonomy. This property, which generalizes characteristics of isotropies corresponding to isolated higher-order fixed points in parabolic geometries that are known to require a nearby open subset to have vanishing curvature, only relies upon the behavior of the isotropy in the model geometry, and therefore applies regardless of initial curvature assumptions, such as regularity or normality. Along the way to proving our main results, we also derive a couple of results for working with holonomy, relating to limits of sequences of developments and the existence of antidevelopments, that are useful in their own right. To showcase the effectiveness of the techniques developed, we use them to completely characterize all almost c-projective and almost quaternionic structures that admit a nontrivial automorphism with a higher-order fixed point, as well as all nondegenerate partially integrable almost CR structures that admit a higher-order fixed point with non-null isotropy.

Abstract:Local indices at isolated fixed points of a differentiable compact nonlinear map $T$ on Banach spaces will be discussed. These results are applied to establish the existence of nontrivial solutions. As an example, the existence of nontrivial weak solutions to a class of nonlinear strongly coupled elliptic systems of two equations will also be studied. A bifurcation phenomenon due to cross-diffusion is reported.

Abstract:There are many classical results, related to the Denjoy--Wolff Theorem, concerning the relationship between orbits of interior points and orbits of boundary points under iterates of holomorphic self-maps of the unit disc. Here, for the first time, we address such questions in the very general setting of sequences $(F_n)$ of holomorphic maps between simply connected domains. We show that, while some classical results can be generalised, with an interesting dependence on the geometry of the domains, a much richer variety of behaviours is possible. Some of our results are new even in the classical setting. Our methods apply in particular to non-autonomous dynamical systems, when $(F_n)$ are forward compositions of holomorphic maps, and to the study of wandering domains in holomorphic dynamics. The proofs use techniques from geometric function theory, measure theory and ergodic theory, and the construction of examples involves a `weak independence' version of the second Borel--Cantelli lemma and the concept from ergodic theory of `shrinking targets'.

Abstract:DeMarco, Krieger, and Ye conjectured that there is a uniform bound B , depending only on the degree d , so that any pair of holomorphic maps with degree will either share all of their preperiodic points or have at most in common. Here we show that this uniform bound holds for a Zariski open and dense set in the space of all pairs, , for each degree . The proof involves a combination of arithmetic intersection theory and complex-dynamical results, especially as developed recently by Gauthier and Vigny, Yuan and Zhang, and Mavraki and Schmidt. In addition, we present alternate proofs of the main results of DeMarco, Krieger, and Ye [ Uniform Manin-Mumford for a family of genus 2 curves , Ann. of Math. (2) 191 (2020), 949–1001; Common preperiodic points for quadratic polynomials , J. Mod. Dyn. 18 (2022), 363–413] and of Poineau [ Dynamique analytique sur II : Écart uniforme entre Lattès et conjecture de Bogomolov-Fu-Tschinkel , Preprint (2022), arXiv:2207.01574 [math.NT]]. In fact, we prove a generalization of a conjecture of Bogomolov, Fu, and Tschinkel in a mixed setting of dynamical systems and elliptic curves.

Abstract:This paper gives a survey over some of the most important methods and results of nonlinear functional analysis in ordered Banach spaces. By means of iterative techniques and by using topological tools, fixed point theorems for completely continuous maps in ordered Banach spaces are deduced, and particular attention is paid to the derivation of multiplicity results. Moreover, solvability and bifurcation problems for fixed point equations depending nonlinearly on a real parameter are investigated. In order to demonstrate the importance of the abstract results, there are given some nontrivial applications to nonlinear elliptic boundary value problems. But, of course, the abstract techniques and results of this paper apply also to a variety of other problems which are not considered here. This paper presents in a unified manner most of the recent work in this field. In addition, by making consequent use of the fixed point index for compact maps, short and simple proofs are obtained for most of the classical results contained in M. A. Krasnoselskiis book [11].

Abstract:Structural stability of holomorphic functions has been the subject of much research in the last fifty years. Due to various technicalities, however, most of that work has focused on so-called finite-type functions (functions whose set of singular values has finite cardinality). Recent developments in the field go beyond this setting. In this paper we extend Eremenko and Lyubich's result on natural families of entire maps to the case where the set of singular values is not the entire complex plane, showing under this assumption that the set $M_f$ of entire functions quasiconformally equivalent to $f$ admits the structure of a complex manifold (of possibly infinite dimension). Moreover, we will consider functions with wandering domains -- another hot topic of research in complex dynamics. Given an entire function $f$ with a simply connected wandering domain $U$, we construct an analogue of the multiplier of a periodic orbit, called a distortion sequence, and show that, under some hypotheses, the distortion sequence moves analytically as $f$ moves within appropriate parameter families.

Abstract:We prove a compactness theorem for sequences of low-action punctured holomorphic curves of controlled topology, in any dimension, without imposing the typical assumption of uniformly bounded Hofer energy. In the limit, we extract a family of closed Reeb-invariant subsets. Then, we prove new structural results for the U-map in ECH and PFH, implying that such sequences exist in abundance in low-dimensional symplectic dynamics. We obtain applications to symplectic dynamics and the geometry of surfaces. First, we prove generalizations to higher genus surfaces and three-manifolds of the celebrated Le Calvez-Yoccoz theorem. Second, we show that for any closed Riemannian or Finsler surface a dense set of points have geodesics passing through them that visit different sections of the surface. Third, we prove a version of Ginzburg-Gürel's "crossing energy bound" for punctured holomorphic curves, of arbitrary topology, in symplectizations of any dimension.

Abstract:We study a class of one-dimensional full branch maps introduced in Coates et al. (Commun Math Phys 402(2):1845–1878, 2023), admitting two indifferent fixed points as well as critical points and/or singularities with unbounded derivative. We show that can be partitioned into 3 pairwise disjoint subfamilies such that all have a unique physical measure equivalent to Lebesgue, all have a physical measure which is a Dirac- measure on one of the (repelling) fixed points, and all are non-statistical and in particular have no physical measure. Moreover we show that these subfamilies are intermingled : they can all be approximated by maps in the other subfamilies in natural topologies.

Abstract:Letfbe a holomorphic self-map of the unit ball in dimension 2, which does not have an interior fixed point. Suppose thatfhas a Wolff pointpwith the boundary dilatation coefficient equal to 1 and the non-tangential differential df(p)=id. The local behaviours offnearpare quite diverse, and we give a detailed study in many typical cases. As a byproduct, we give a dynamical interpretation of the Burns-Krantz rigidity theorem. Note also that similar results hold on two-dimensional contractible smoothly bounded strongly pseudoconvex domains.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to study the dynamics of holomorphic diffeomorphisms in C^n such that the resonances among the first 1<= r<= n eigenvalues of the differential are generated over N by a finite number of Q-linearly independent multi-indices (and more resonances are allowed for other eigenvalues). We give sharp conditions for the existence of basins of attraction where a Fatou coordinate can be defined. Furthermore, we obtain a generalization of the Leau-Fatou flower theorem, providing a complete description of the dynamics in a full neighborhood of the origin for 1-resonant parabolically attracting holomorphic germs in Poincare'-Dulac normal form.

Abstract:In this paper we make a further discussion of a relationship between the number of fixed-points and distribution of singular values along the round annuli centered at the origin of a transcendental meromorphic function. To attain our purpose we first establish a fundamental inequality for the modulus of derivative of a holomorphic covering mapping whose image is an annulus by virtue of the hyperbolic metric. The inequality is of independent significance. We make a simple survey on some domain constants for hyperbolic domains.
