Abstract:In this paper, we present two kinds of total Chern forms $c(E,G)$ and $\mathcal{C}(E,G)$ as well as a total Segre form $s(E,G)$ of a holomorphic Finsler vector bundle $\pi:(E,G)\to M$ expressed by the Finsler metric $G$, which answers a question of J. Faran (\cite{Faran}) to some extent. As some applications, we show that the signed Segre forms $(-1)^ks_k(E,G)$ are positive $(k,k)$-forms on $M$ when $G$ is of positive Kobayashi curvature; we prove, under an extra assumption, that a Finsler-Einstein vector bundle in the sense of Kobayashi is semi-stable; we introduce a new definition of a flat Finsler metric, which is weaker than Aikou's one (\cite{Aikou}) and prove that a holomorphic vector bundle is Finsler flat in our sense if and only if it is Hermitian flat.

Abstract:In this paper, first, we introduce the Berger-type deformed Sasaki metric on the cotangent bundle $T^{\ast}M$ over a Kählerian manifold $(M^{2m}, J, g)$ and investigate the Levi-Civita connection of this metric. Secondly, we present the unit cotangent bundle equipped with Berger-type deformed Sasaki metric, and we investigate the Levi-Civita connection. Finally, we study the geodesics on the cotangent bundle and on unit cotangent bundle with respect to the Berger-type deformed Sasaki metric.

Geodesic Equations on asymptotically locally Euclidean Kähler manifolds

Abstract:We solve the geodesic equation in the space of Kähler metrics under the setting of asymptotically locally Euclidean (ALE) Kähler manifolds and we prove global $\mathcal{C}^{1,1}$ regularity of the solution. Then, we relate the solution of the geodesic equation to the uniqueness of scalar-flat ALE metrics. To this end, we study the asymptotic behavior of $\varepsilon$-geodesics at spatial infinity. Under the assumption that the Ricci curvature of a reference ALE Kähler metric is non-positive, convexity of the Mabuchi $K$-energy along $\varepsilon$-geodesics. However, we will also prove that on the line bundle $\mathcal{O}(-k)$ over $\mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$ with $n \geq 2$ and $k \neq n$, no ALE Kähler metric can have non-positive (or non-negative) Ricci curvature.

Abstract:This paper aims to study the Berger type deformed Sasaki metric g BS on the second order tangent bundle T 2 M over a bi-Kählerian manifold M . The authors firstly find the Levi-Civita connection of the Berger type deformed Sasaki metric g BS and calculate all forms of Riemannian curvature tensors of this metric. Also, they study geodesics on the second order tangent bundle T 2 M and bi-unit second order tangent bundle , and characterize a geodesic of the bi-unit second order tangent bundle in terms of geodesic curvatures of its projection to the base. Finally, they present some conditions for a section σ : M → T 2 M to be harmonic and study the harmonicity of the different canonical projections and inclusions of ( T 2 M , g BS ). Moreover, they search the harmonicity of the Berger type deformed Sasaki metric g BS and the Sasaki metric g S with respect to each other.

Abstract:We classify simply connected compact Sasaki manifolds of dimension 2n+1 with positive transverse bisectional curvature. In particular, the Kähler cone corresponding to such manifolds must be bi-holomorphic to Cn+1\{0}. As an application we recover the theorem of Mori and Siu–Yau on the Frankel conjecture and extend it to certain orbifold version. The main idea is to deform such Sasaki manifolds to the standard round sphere in two steps, both fixing the complex structure on the Kähler cone. First, we deform the metric along the Sasaki–Ricci flow and obtain a limit Sasaki–Ricci soliton with positive transverse bisectional curvature. Then by varying the Reeb vector field which essentially decreases the volume functional, we deform the Sasaki–Ricci soliton to a Sasaki–Einstein metric with positive transverse bisectional curvature, i.e. a round sphere. The second deformation is only possible when one treats simultaneously regular and irregular Sasaki manifolds, even if the manifold one starts with is regular (quasi-regular), i.e. Kähler manifolds (orbifolds).

Abstract:It's well known that the n-sphere S^n is the universal double covering of the n-dimensional real projective space ℝP^n and then any Finsler metric on ℝP^n induces a Finsler metric of S^n. In this paper, we prove that for every Finsler (S^n, F) for n≥3 whose metric is induced by irreversible Finsler (ℝP^n,F) with reversibility λ and flag curvature K satisfying (λ/λ+1)^2<K≤ 1, there exist at least n-1 prime closed geodesics on (S^n, F). Furthermore, if there exist finitely many distinct closed geodesics on (S^n, F), then there exist at least 2[n/2]-1 of them are non-hyperbolic.

Abstract:Communications in Contemporary Mathematics, Ahead of Print. In this paper, we examine the geodesics on adjoint orbits of [math] that are equipped with [math]-invariant metrics, where [math] is the maximal compact subgroup. Our primary technique involves translating this problem into a geometric problem in the tangent bundle of certain [math]-flag manifolds and describing the geodesic equations with respect to the Sasaki metric on the tangent bundle. Additionally, we utilize tools from Lie Theory to obtain explicit descriptions of families of geodesics. We provide a detailed analysis of the case for [math].

Abstract:Let $M=S^n/ \Gamma$ and $h \in \pi_1(M)$ be a non-trivial element of finite order $p$, where the integers $n, p\geq2$ and $\Gamma$ is a finite abelian group which acts on the sphere freely and isometrically, therefore $M$ is diffeomorphic to a compact space form which is typical a non-simply connected manifold. We prove there exist at least two non-contractible closed geodesics on $\mathbb{R}P^2$ and obtain the upper bounds on their lengths. Moreover, we prove there exist at least $n$ prime non-contractible simple closed geodesics on $(M,F)$ of prescribed class $[h]$, provided \[ F^2 <(\frac{\lambda+1}{\lambda})^2 g_0 \;\; \text{ and } \;\; (\frac{\lambda}{\lambda+1})^2 < K \leq 1 \text{ for $n$ is odd or }\; 0<K \leq 1 \text{ for $n$ is even}, \] where $\lambda$ is the reversibility, $K$ is the flag curvature and $g_0$ is standard Riemannian metric. Stability of these non-contractible closed geodesics is also studied.

Geodesic Envelopes in the Thurston Metric on Teichmuller space

Abstract:The Thurston metric on Teichmuller space, first introduced by W. P. Thurston is an asymmetric metric on Teichmuller space defined by $d_{Th}(X,Y) = \frac12 log\sup_{\alpha} \frac{l_{\alpha}(Y)}{l_{\alpha}(X)}$. This metric is geodesic, but geodesics are far from unique. In this thesis, we show that in the once-punctured torus, and in the four-times punctured sphere, geodesics stay a uniformly-bounded distance from each other. In other words, we show that the \textbf{width} of the geodesic envelope, E(X,Y) between any pair of points $X,Y \in T(S)$ (where $S = S_{1,1}$ or $S = S_{0,4}$) is bounded uniformly. To do this, we first identify extremal geodesics in Env(X,Y), and show that these correspond to stretch vectors, proving a conjecture of Huang, Ohshika and Papadopoulos. We then compute Fenchel-Nielsen twisting along these paths, and use these computations, along with estimates on earthquake path lengths, to prove the main theorem.

Abstract:We derive the geodesic equation for relatively Kähler metrics on fibrations and prove that any two such metrics with fibrewise constant scalar curvature are joined by a unique smooth geodesic. We then show convexity of the log-norm functional for this setting along geodesics, which yields simple proofs of Dervan and Sektnan's uniqueness result for optimal symplectic connections and a boundedness result for the log-norm functional. Next, we associate to a fibration degeneration a unique geodesic ray defined on a dense open subset. Calculating the limiting slope of the log-norm functional along a globally defined smooth geodesic ray, we prove that fibrations admitting optimal symplectic connections are polystable with respect to a large class of fibration degenerations that are smooth over the base. We give examples of such degenerations in the case of projectivised vector bundles and isotrivial fibrations.

Abstract:In this paper we study compact Sasaki manifolds in view of transverse K\"ahler geometry and extend some results in K\"ahler geometry to Sasaki manifolds. In particular we define integral invariants which obstruct the existence of transverse K\"ahler metric with harmonic Chern forms. The integral invariant $f_1$ for the first Chern class case becomes an obstruction to the existence of transverse K\"ahler metric of constant scalar curvature. We prove the existence of transverse K\"ahler-Ricci solitons (or {\it Sasaki-Ricci soliton}) on compact toric Sasaki manifolds whose basic first Chern form of the normal bundle of the Reeb foliation is positive and the first Chern class of the contact bundle is trivial. We will further show that if $S$ is a compact toric Sasaki manifold with the above assumption then by deforming the Reeb field we get a Sasaki-Einstein structure on $S$. As an application we obtain irregular toric Sasaki-Einstein metrics on the unit circle bundles of the powers of the canonical bundle of the two-point blow-up of the complex projective plane.

Abstract:Geodesic equations are solved when at least two of $\theta$, $\phi$ and $\psi$ are constant, or $r$ is constant, on scalar flat metrics of Eguchi-Hanson type. They can also be solved also on Eguchi-Hanson metrics which are Ricci flat if only $\phi$ is constant. However, the explicit solution of the geodesic equations is not available yet if only $\psi$ is constant.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove that for every Finsler n-sphere (S, F ) for n ≥ 3 with reversibility λ and flag curvature K satisfying ( λ λ+1 )2 < K ≤ 1, either there exist infinitely many prime closed geodesics or there exists one elliptic closed geodesic whose linearized Poincaré map has at least one eigenvalue which is an irrational multiple of π. Furthermore, there always exist three prime closed geodesics on any (S, F ) satisfying the above pinching condition.

Abstract:We extend Tsuji's iterative construction of a Kähler--Einstein metric with negative scalar curvature to (non-compact) Kähler manifolds with bounded geometry, using Berndtsson's method for the compact setting. Consequently, given a holomorphic surjective map $p:X \to Y$, where $X$ is a weakly pseudoconvex Kähler manifold and $Y$ is a complex manifold, whose smooth fibers admit Kähler--Einstein metrics with negative scalar curvature and bounded geometry, we show that the fiberwise Kähler--Einstein metric induces a semi-positively curved metric on the relative canonical bundle $K_{X/Y}$ of $p$. Moreover, our approach can be applied to obtain the plurisubharmonic variation of cusp Kähler--Einstein metrics.

Abstract:Let $(M, \omega, J)$ be a Kähler manifold, equipped with an effective Hamiltonian torus action $\rho: T \rightarrow \mathrm{Diff}(M, \omega, J)$ by isometries with moment map $\mu: M \rightarrow \mathfrak{t}^{*}$. We first construct a singular mixed polarization $\mathcal{P}_{\mathrm{mix}}$ on $M$. Second, we construct a one-parameter family of complex structures $J_{t}$ on $M$ which are compatible with $\omega$. Furthermore, the path of corresponding Kähler metrics $g_{t}$ is a complete geodesic ray in the space of Kähler metrics of $M$, when $M$ is compact. Finally, we show that the corresponding family of Kähler polarizations $\mathcal{P}_{t}$ associated to $J_{t}$ converges to $\mathcal{P}_{\mathrm{mix}}$ as $t \rightarrow \infty$.
