Abstract:Let $\beta>0$ and consider an $n$-point process $\lambda_1, \lambda_2,..., \lambda_n$ from Hermite $\beta$ ensemble on the real line $\mathbb{R}$. Dumitriu and Edelman discovered a tri-diagonal matrix model and established the global Wigner semicircle law for normalized empirical measures. In this paper we prove that the average number of states in a small interval in the bulk converges in probability when the length of the interval is larger than $\sqrt {\log n}$, i.e., local semicircle law holds. And the number of positive states in $(0,\infty)$ is proved to fluctuate normally around its mean $n/2$ with variance like $\log n/\pi^2\beta$. The proofs rely largely on the way invented by Valk$\acute{o}$ and Vir$\acute{a}$g of counting states in any interval and the classical martingale argument.

Abstract:In this paper we establish some results on the increments of a d-dimensional Gaussian process with the usual Euclidean norm. In particular we obtain the law of iterated logarithm and the Book-Shore type theorem for the increments of a d-dimensional Gaussian process, via estimating upper bounds and lower bounds of large deviation probabilities on the suprema of the d-dimensional Gaussian process.

Abstract:We show that small ball estimates together with Holder continuity assumption allow to obtain new representation results in models with long memory. In order to apply these results, we establish small ball probability estimates for Gaussian processes whose incremental variance admits two-sided estimates and the incremental covariance preserves sign. As a result, we obtain small ball estimates for integral transforms of Wiener processes and of fractional Brownian motion with Volterra kernels.

Define the partial sum process in the usual way so that $W_n \left( t \right) = \sigma _n^{{\text{ - 1}}} \sum\nolimits_{m \leqq n \cdot t} {\left( {X_m - EX_m } \right)} \quad {\text{for}}\quad t \in \left[ {0,1} \right]^d$, where $\sigma _n^{\text{2}} = {\text{Var}}\left( {\sum\nolimits_{m \leqq n} {X_m } } \right)$. Under some suitable conditions, we show that W n (·) converges in distribution to a Brownian sheet. Direct consequences of the result are functional central limit theorems for negative dependent random fields. The result is based on some general theorems concerning asymptotically negative dependent random fields, which are of independent interest.
A Unifying Framework for Global Gaussianization: Asymptotic Equivalence of Locally Stationary Processes and Bivariate White Noise

Abstract:We consider a general class of statistical experiments, in which an $n$-dimensional centered Gaussian random variable is observed and its covariance matrix is the parameter of interest. The covariance matrix is assumed to be well-approximable in a linear space of lower dimension $K_n$ with eigenvalues uniformly bounded away from zero and infinity. We prove asymptotic equivalence of this experiment and a class of $K_n$-dimensional Gaussian models with informative expectation in Le Cam's sense when $n$ tends to infinity and $K_n$ is allowed to increase moderately in $n$ at a polynomial rate. For this purpose we derive a new localization technique for non-i.i.d. data and a novel high-dimensional Central Limit Law in total variation distance. These results are key ingredients to show asymptotic equivalence between the experiments of locally stationary Gaussian time series and a bivariate Wiener process with the log spectral density as its drift. Therein a novel class of matrices is introduced which generalizes circulant Toeplitz matrices traditionally used for strictly stationary time series.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the asymptotical behaviour of high exceedence probabilities for centered continuous -valued Gaussian random field with covariance matrix satisfying as . Such processes occur naturally as time transformations of homogenous random fields, and we present two asymptotic results of this nature as applications of our findings. The technical novelty of our proof consists in showing that the Slepian-Gordon inequality technique, essential in the univariate case, can also be successfully applied in the multivariate setup. This is noteworthy because this technique was previously believed to be inaccessible in this particular context.

Abstract:This paper establishes the small-time asymptotic behaviors of the regular heat content and spectral heat content for general Gaussian processes in both one-dimensional and multi-dimensional settings, where the boundary of the underlying domain satisfies some smoothness condition. For the amount of heat loss associated with the spectral heat content, the exact asymptotic behavior with rate function being the expected supremum process is obtained, whereas for the regular heat content, the exact asymptotic behavior is described in terms of the standard deviation function.

Abstract:Given a Gaussian risk process $R(t)=u+c(t)-X(t),t\ge 0$, the cumulative Parisian ruin probability on a finite time interval $[0,T]$ with respect to $L \geq 0$ is defined as the probability that the sojourn time that the risk process $R$ spends under the level 0 on this time interval $[0,T]$ exceeds $L$. In this contribution we derive exact asymptotic approximations of the cumulative Parisian ruin probability for a general class of Gaussian processes introduced in [9] assuming that $X$ is locally self-similar. We illustrate our findings with several examples. As a byproduct we show that Berman's constants can be defined alternatively by a self-similar Gaussian process which could be quite different to the fractional Brownian motion.

Abstract:We show that the uniform norm of generalized grey Brownian motion over the unit interval has an analytic density, excluding the special case of fractional Brownian motion. Our main result is an asymptotic expansion for the small ball probability of generalized grey Brownian motion, which extends to other norms on path space. The decay rate is not exponential but polynomial, of degree two. For the uniform norm and the Hölder norm, we also prove a large deviations estimate.
