Abstract:A finite transformation method is introduced. This method is equivalent to the Z transform method to a certain extent but generalizes it. By applying the presented method to the Bessel functions, it is possible to solve related ordinary differential equations of order higher than 2 with given initial conditions.

Abstract:This article is devoted to the determination of numerical solutions for the two-dimensional time-spacefractional Schrödinger equation. To do this, the unknown parameters are obtained using the Laguerre wavelet approach. We discretize the problem by using this technique. Then, we solve the discretized nonlinear problem by means of a collocation method. The method was proven to give very accurate results. The given numerical examples support this claim.

Abstract:By means of certain limit technique, two kinds of generalized Darboux transformations are constructed for the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations (DNLS). These transformations are shown to lead to two solution formulas for DNLS in terms of determinants. As applications, several different types of high‐order solutions are calculated for this equation.

Abstract:The Laguerre calculus is widely used for the inversion of differential operators on the Heisenberg group. We extend the Laguerre calculus for nilpotent groups of step two, and test it in the determining of the fundamental solution of the sub-Laplace operator. We also apply it to find the Szegö kernels of the projection operators to a kind of regular functions on the quaternion Heisenberg group.

Abstract:We introduce two ordinary second-order linear differential equations of the Laguerre- and Jacobi-type. Solutions are written as infinite series of square integrable functions in terms of the Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials, respectively. The expansion coefficients of the series satisfy three-term recursion relations, which are solved in terms of orthogonal polynomials with continuous and/or discrete spectra. Most of these are well-known polynomials whereas few are not. We present physical applications of these differential equations in quantum mechanics.

Abstract:Linearization problem of ordinary differential equations by a new set of tangent transformations is considered in the paper. This set of transformations allows one to extend the set of transformations applied for the linearization problem. Criteria for fourth-order ordinary differential equations to be linearizable are obtained in a particular case; a linearization test and procedure for obtaining the linearizing transformations are provided in explicit forms.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a fourth‐order nonlinear diffusion partial differential equation, depending on two arbitrary functions. First, we perform an analysis of the symmetry reductions for this parabolic partial differential equation by applying the Lie symmetry method. The invariance property of a partial differential equation under a Lie group of transformations yields the infinitesimal generators. By using this invariance condition, we present a complete classification of the Lie point symmetries for the different forms of the functions that the partial differential equation involves. Afterwards, the optimal systems of one‐dimensional subalgebras for each maximal Lie algebra are determined, by computing previously the commutation relations, with the Lie bracket operator, and the adjoint representation. Next, the reductions to ordinary differential equations are derived from the optimal systems of one‐dimensional subalgebras. Furthermore, we study travelling wave reductions depending on the form of the two arbitrary functions of the original equation. Some travelling wave solutions are obtained, such as solitons, kinks and periodic waves.

Abstract:Abstract The Laplace transform is important for exact solutions of linear differential equations and frequency response analysis methods. In comparison with the continuous–time systems, less results can be available for fractional difference equations. This study provides some fundamental results of two kinds of fractional difference equations by use of the Laplace transform. Some discrete Mittag–Leffler functions are defined and their Laplace transforms are given. Furthermore, a class of variable–order and short memory linear fractional difference equations are proposed and the exact solutions are obtained.

Abstract:In this paper conditions for the second-order linear differential equation to have polynomial solutions are given. Several applications of these results to Schrödinger's equation are discussed. Conditions under which the confluent, biconfluent and general Heun equation yields polynomial solutions are explicitly given. Some new classes of exactly solvable differential equations are also discussed. The results of this work are expressed in such a way as to allow direct use, without preliminary analysis.

Abstract:Two types of non-Hermitian systems are considered. One of them is both non-Hermitian and non-Linear and an iterative process is used to obtain excited state solutions; the ground state may be solved exactly. The model has been used in many physical systems and the method of calculation uses a simple Hilbert space with a generalised inner product. The second type has a complex term in the Hamiltonian and is a well studied problem in the infinite interval. Here a finite interval is considered and a complete set of eigenfunctions for this interval is used.The relationship between the finite interval states and the infinite interval states is discussed.

Abstract:We study the phase-space concentration of the so-called generalized metaplectic operators whose main examples are Schrödinger equations with bounded perturbations. To reach this goal, we perform a so-called - Wigner analysis of the previous equations, as started in Part I, cf. Cordero and Rodino (Appl Comput Harmon Anal 58:85–123, 2022). Namely, the classical Wigner distribution is extended by considering a class of time–frequency representations constructed as images of metaplectic operators acting on symplectic matrices . Sub-classes of these representations, related to covariant symplectic matrices, reveal to be particularly suited for the time–frequency study of the Schrödinger evolution. This testifies the effectiveness of this approach for such equations, highlighted by the development of a related wave front set. We first study the properties of -Wigner representations and related pseudodifferential operators needed for our goal. This approach paves the way to new quantization procedures. As a byproduct, we introduce new quasi-algebras of generalized metaplectic operators containing Schrödinger equations with more general potentials, extending the results contained in the previous works (Cordero et al. in J Math Pures Appl 99(2):219–233, 2013, J Math Phys 55(8):081506, 2014).

Abstract:This study focuses on the solvability and Hyers–Ulam stability of a particular class of fractional Langevin equations with two fractional orders. Utilizing the Mittag–Leffler functions, we present a representation of the general solution for the problem. Our approach offers significant technical advantages compared to existing literature. Furthermore, we furnish illustrative examples, employing specific parameters, to showcase the existence of a unique solution and its Hyers–Ulam stability even under less restrictive conditions.

Abstract:We consider the time discretization based on Lie-Trotter splitting, for the nonlinear Schrodinger equation, in the semi-classical limit, with initial data under the form of WKB states. We show that both the exact and the numerical solutions keep a WKB structure, on a time interval independent of the Planck constant. We prove error estimates, which show that the quadratic observables can be computed with a time step independent of the Planck constant. The functional framework is based on time-dependent analytic spaces, in order to overcome a previously encountered loss of regularity phenomenon.

Abstract:We make use of the Laplace transform and gamma function to construct a new integral transform having the property of mapping a derivative to the backward difference, whence we derive a method for solving difference equations and, relying on classical orthogonal polynomials, for obtaining combinatorial identities.
