Abstract:A proof of the first Rogers-Ramanujan identity is given using admissible neighborly partitions. This completes a program initiated by Mohsen and Mourtada. The admissible neighborly partitions involve an unusual mod 3 condition on the parts.

Abstract:abstract: We generalize the theory of linked partition ideals due to Andrews using finite automata in formal language theory and apply it to prove three Rogers--Ramanujan type identities for modulus 14 that were posed by Nandi through a vertex operator theoretic construction of the level 4 standard modules of the affine Lie algebra $A^{(2)}_{2}$.

Abstract:In this paper, we combined two types of partitions and introduced 2-colored Rogers-Ramanujan partitions. By finding some functional equations and using a constructive method, some identities have been found. Some Overpartition identities coincide with our findings. A correspondence between colored partitions and overpartitions is provided.

Abstract:The Rogers–Ramanujan identities and various analogous identities (Gordon, Andrews–Bressoud, Capparelli, etc.) form a family of very deep identities concerned with integer partitions. These identities (written in generating function form) are typically of the form “product side” equals “sum side,” with the product side enumerating partitions obeying certain congruence conditions and the sum side obeying certain initial conditions and difference conditions (along with possibly other restrictions). We use symbolic computation to generate various such sum sides and then use Euler’s algorithm to see which of them actually do produce elegant conjectured product sides. We not only rediscover many of the known identities but also discover some apparently new ones, as conjectures supported by strong mathematical evidence.

Abstract:We give manifestly positive Andrews-Gordon type series for the level 3 standard modules of the affine Lie algebra of type $A^{(1)}_2$. We also give corresponding bipartition identities, which have representation theoretic interpretations via the vertex operators. Our proof is based on the Borodin product formula, the Corteel-Welsh recursion for the cylindric partitions, a $q$-version of Sister Celine's technique and a generalization of Andrews' partition ideals by finite automata due to Takigiku and the author.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a conjecture, which generalises Euler's partition theorem involving odd parts and different parts for all moduli. We prove this conjecture for two family partitions. We give $q$-difference equations for the related generating function if the moduli is three. We provide new companions to Rogers-Ramanujan-Andrews-Gordon identities under this conjecture.

Elementary Proofs of Congruences for POND and PEND Partitions

Abstract:Recently, Ballantine and Welch considered various generalizations and refinements of POD and PED partitions. These are integer partitions wherein the odd parts must be distinct (in the case of POD partitions) or the even parts must be distinct (in the case of PED partitions). In the process, they were led to consider two classes of integer partitions which are, in some sense, the ``opposite'' of POD and PED partitions. They labeled these POND and PEND partitions, which are integer partitions wherein the odd parts cannot be distinct (in the case of POND partitions) or the even parts cannot be distinct (in the case of PEND partitions). In this work, we study these two types of partitions from an arithmetic perspective. Along the way, we are led to prove the following two infinite families of Ramanujan--like congruences: For all $\alpha \geq 1$ and all $n\geq 0,$ \begin{align*} pond\left(3^{2\alpha +1}n+\frac{23\cdot 3^{2\alpha}+1}{8}\right) &\equiv 0 \pmod{3}, \textrm{\ \ \ and} \\ pend\left(3^{2\alpha +1}n+\frac{17\cdot 3^{2\alpha}-1}{8}\right) &\equiv 0 \pmod{3} \end{align*} where $pond(n)$ counts the number of POND partitions of weight $n$ and $pend(n)$ counts the number of PEND partitions of weight $n$. All of the proof techniques used herein are elementary, relying on classical $q$-series identities and generating function manipulations, along with mathematical induction.

Abstract:Ariki and Mathas (Math Z 233(3):601–623, 2000) showed that the simple modules of the Ariki–Koike algebras (when the parameters are roots of unity and ) are labeled by the so-called Kleshchev multipartitions. This together with Ariki's categorification theorem enabled Ariki and Mathas to obtain the generating function for the number of Kleshchev multipartitions by making use of the Weyl–Kac character formula. In this paper, we revisit their generating function relation for the case. In particular, this scenario is of special interest as the corresponding Kleshchev multipartitions are closely tied with generalized Rogers–Ramanujan type partitions when and . Based on this connection, we provide an analytic proof of the result of Ariki and Mathas for the above choice of parameters. Our second objective is to investigate simple modules of the Ariki–Koike algebra in a fixed block, which are, as widely known, labeled by the Kleshchev multiparitions with a fixed partition residue statistic. This partition statistic is also studied in the works of Berkovich, Garvan, and Uncu. Employing their results, we provide two bivariate generating function identities for the scenario.

Abstract:The two Rogers–Ramanujan q-series ∑n=0∞qn(n+σ)(1−q)⋯(1−qn), where σ=0,1, play many roles in mathematics and physics. By the Rogers–Ramanujan identities, they are essentially modular functions. Their quotient, the Rogers–Ramanujan continued fraction, has the special property that its singular values are algebraic integral units. We find a framework which extends the Rogers–Ramanujan identities to doubly infinite families of q-series identities. If a∈{1,2} and m,n≥1, then we have ∑λ,λ1≤mqa|λ|P2λ(1,q,q2,…;qn)=[infiniteproductmodularfunction],where the Pλ(x1,x2,…;q) are Hall–Littlewood polynomials. These q-series are specialized characters of affine Kac–Moody algebras. Generalizing the Rogers–Ramanujan continued fraction, we prove in the case of A2n(2) that the relevant q-series quotients are integral units.

Abstract:Let $\Pi_n$ denote the set of all set partitions of $\{1,2,\ldots,n\}$. We consider two subsets of $\Pi_n$, one connected to rook theory and one associated with symmetric functions in noncommuting variables. Let ${\cal E}_n\subseteq\Pi_n$ be the subset of all partitions corresponding to an extendable rook (placement) on the upper-triangular board, ${\cal T}_{n-1}$. Given $\pi\in\Pi_m$ and $\sigma\in\Pi_n$, define their slash product to be $\pi|\sigma=\pi\cup(\sigma+m)\in\Pi_{m+n}$ where $\sigma+m$ is the partition obtained by adding $m$ to every element of every block of $\sigma$. Call $\tau$ atomic if it can not be written as a nontrivial slash product and let ${\cal A}_n\subseteq\Pi_n$ denote the subset of atomic partitions. Atomic partitions were first defined by Bergeron, Hohlweg, Rosas, and Zabrocki during their study of $NCSym$, the symmetric functions in noncommuting variables. We show that, despite their very different definitions, ${\cal E}_n={\cal A}_n$ for all $n\ge0$. Furthermore, we put an algebra structure on the formal vector space generated by all rook placements on upper triangular boards which makes it isomorphic to $NCSym$. We end with some remarks.

Abstract:Polynomial generalizations of all 130 of the identities in Slater's list of identities of the Rogers-Ramanujan type are presented. Furthermore, duality relationships among many of the identities are derived. Some of the these polynomial identities were previously known but many are new. The author has implemented much of the finitization process in a Maple package which is available for free download from the author's website.

Abstract:Using a pair of two variable series-product identities recorded by Ramanujan in the lost notebook as inspiration, we find some new identities of similar type. Each identity immediately implies an infinite family of Rogers-Ramanujan type identities, some of which are well-known identities from the literature.
