Abstract:We establish an explicit formula for the solution of the the cubic Szegő equation on the real line. Using this formula, we prove that the evolution flow of this equation can be continuously extended to the whole Hardy class $H^2$ on the real line.

Abstract:We study the cubic Szegö equation which is an integrable nonlinear non-dispersive and nonlocal evolution equation. In particular, we present a direct approach for obtaining the multiphase and multisoliton solutions as well as a special class of periodic solutions. Our method is substantially different from the existing one which relies mainly on the spectral analysis of the Hankel operator. We show that the cubic Szegö equation can be bilinearized through appropriate dependent variable transformations and then the solutions satisfy a set of bilinear equations. The proof is carried out within the framework of an elementary theory of determinants. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the eigenfunctions associated with the multiphase solutions satisfy the Lax pair for the cubic Szegö equation, providing an alternative proof of the solutions. Last, the eigenvalue problem for a periodic solution is solved exactly to obtain the analytical expressions of the eigenvalues.

Small solutions to homogeneous and inhomogeneous cubic equations

Abstract:We study the solubility of cubic equations over the integers. Assuming a necessary congruence condition, the existence of such solutions is established when the $h$-invariant of $C$ is at least $14$, improving on work of Davenport-Lewis and generalizing the method from Heath-Brown's seminal work in the homogeneous case. We also provide an upper bound on the smallest solution, polynomially in the height of the coefficients. The method also yields new results in the homogeneous case where we generalize and improve on previous work of Browning, Dietmann and Elliott.

Abstract:For any subcritical index of regularity s > 3/2, we prove the almost global well posedness for the 2-dimensional semilinear wave equation with the cubic nonlinearity in the derivatives, when the initial data are small in the Sobolev space H s × H s−1 with certain angular regularity. The lifespan is known to be sharp in general. The main new ingredient in the proof is an endpoint version of the generalized Strichartz estimates in the space . In the last section, we also consider the general semilinear wave equations with the spatial dimension n ≥ 2 and the order of nonlinearity p ≥ 3.
Sharp quasi-invariance threshold for the cubic Szegő equation

Abstract:We consider the 1-dimensional cubic Szegő equation with data distributed according to the Gaussian measure with inverse covariance operator $(1-\partial_x^2)^\frac s2$, where $s>\frac12$. We show that, for $s>1$, this measure is quasi-invariant under the flow of the equation, while for $s<1$, $s\neq \frac34$, the transported measure and the initial Gaussian measure are mutually singular for almost every time. This is the first observation of a transition from quasi-invariance to singularity in the context of the transport of Gaussian measures under the flow of Hamiltonian PDEs.

Depending on the value of the parameters, these solutions either scatter to linear, blow-up in finite time, or exhibit a new type of threshold behaviour which we characterize precisely.

Abstract:In this paper we derive and analyse new exponential collocation methods to efficiently solve the cubic Schrödinger Cauchy problem on a d-dimensional torus. Energy preservation is a key feature of the cubic Schrödinger equation. It is proved that the novel methods can be of arbitrarily high order which exactly or nearly preserve the continuous energy of the original continuous system. The existence and uniqueness, regularity, global convergence, nonlinear stability of the new methods are studied in detail. Two practical exponential collocation methods are constructed and two numerical experiments are included. The numerical results illustrate the efficiency of the new methods in comparison with existing numerical methods in the literature.
Wellposedness of the cubic Gross-Pitaevskii equation with spatial white noise on $\mathbb{R}^2$

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the global wellposedness of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation with white noise potential, i.e. a cubic nonlinear Schr{ö}dinger equation with harmonic confining potential and spatial white noise multiplicative term. This problem is ill-defined and a Wick renormalization is needed in order to give a meaning to solutions. In order to do this, we introduce a change of variables which transforms the original equation into one with less irregular terms. We construct a solution as a limit of solutions of the same equation but with a regularized noise. This convergence is shown by interpolating between a diverging bound in a high regularity Hermite-Sobolev space and a Cauchy estimate in $\mathbb{L}^2(\mathbb{R}^2)$.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the non-existence and existence of solutions for a generalized quasilinear Schrödinger equation with a Kirchhoff-type perturbation. When the non-linearity h ( u ) shows critical or supercritical growth at infinity, the non-existence result for a quasilinear Schrödinger equation is proved via the Pohožaev identity. If h ( u ) shows asymptotically cubic growth at infinity, the existence of positive radial solutions for the quasilinear Schrödinger equation is obtained when b is large or equal to 0 and b is equal to 0 by the variational methods. Moreover, some properties are established as the parameter b tends to be 0.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the Cauchy's problem of global existence and scattering behavior of small, smooth, and localized solutions of cubic fractional Schr\"odinger equations in one dimension, \begin{equation*} \mathrm{i} \partial_t u- (-\Delta)^{\frac{\alpha}{2}} u=c_*|u|^2u, \end{equation*} where $\alpha \in (\frac{1}{3},1), c_* \in \mathbb{R}$. Our work is a generalization of the result due to Ionescu and Pusateri \cite{IP}, where the case $\alpha=\frac{1}{2}$ was considered. The highlight in this paper is to give a modified dispersive estimate in weighted Sobolev spaces for cubic fractional Schr\"odinger equations, which could be used for $ \alpha \in (\frac{1}{3},1)$. Based on this modified dispersive estimate, we prove the global existence and modified scattering behavior of solutions combining space-time resonance and bootstrap arguments.

Abstract:In this article, we investigate the global well-posedness for the defocusing, cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation posed on $\T^3$ with intial data lying in its critical space $H^\frac{1}{2}(\T^3)$. By establishing the linear profile decomposition, and applied this to the concentration-compactness/rigidity argument, we prove that if the solution remains bounded in the critical Sobolev space throughout the maximal lifespan, i.e. $u\in L_t^\infty{H}^\frac{1}{2}(I\times\T^3)$, then $u$ is global.

Abstract:In this article, we investigate the large-time behavior of small solutions to a system of one-dimensional cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equations with two components. In previous studies, a structural condition on the nonlinearity has been employed to guarantee the existence of a coercive, mass-type conserved quantity. We identify a new class of systems that do not satisfy such a condition and thus lack a coercive conserved quantity. Nonetheless, we establish the global existence and describe the large-time behavior for small solutions in this class. In this setting, the asymptotic profile is described in terms of solutions to the corresponding system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). A key element of our analysis is the use of a quartic conserved quantity associated with the ODE system. Moreover, for a specific example within this class, we solve the ODE system explicitly, showing that the asymptotic behavior is expressed using Jacobi elliptic functions.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the local well-posedness of the cubic Schrödinger equation $$(i\partial_t + \mathcal{L}) u = \pm |u|^2 u \qquad \textrm{on} \quad \ I\times \mathbb{R}^d ,$$ with initial data being a Wiener randomization at unit scale of a given function $f$ and $\mathcal{L}$ being an operator of degree $\sigma\geq 2$. In particular, we prove that a solution exists almost-surely locally in time provided $f\in H^{S}_{x}(\mathbb{R}^{d})$ with $S>\frac{2-\sigma}{4}$ for $d\leq \frac{3\sigma}{2}$, i.e. even if the initial datum is taken in certain negative order Sobolev spaces. The solutions are constructed as a sum of an explicit multilinear expansion of the flow in terms of the random initial data and of an additional smoother remainder term with deterministically subcritical regularity. We develop the framework of directional space-time norms to control the (probabilistic) multilinear expansion and the (deterministic) remainder term and to obtain improved bilinear probabilistic-deterministic Strichartz estimates.

Asymptotic behavior of positive singular solutions to fractional Hardy-H\'enon equations

Abstract: In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of positive solutions of fractional Hardy-H\'enon equation $$ (-\Delta)^\sigma u = |x|^\alpha u^p, ~~~~~~~ x \in B_1 \backslash \{0\} $$ with an isolated singularity at the origin, where $\sigma \in (0, 1)$ and the punctured unit ball $B_1 \backslash \{0\} \subset \mathbb{R}^n$ with $n \geq 2$. When $-2\sigma < \alpha < 2\sigma$ and $\frac{n+\alpha}{n-2\sigma} < p < \frac{n+2\sigma}{n-2\sigma}$, we give a classification of isolated singularities of positive solutions near $x=0$. Further, we prove the asymptotic behavior of positive singular solutions as $x\to 0$. These results parallel those known for the Laplacian counterpart proved by Caffarelli, Gidas and Spruck (Caffarelli, Gidas and Spruck in Comm Pure Appl Math, 1981, 1989), but the methods are very different, since the ODEs analysis is a missing ingredient in the fractional case. Our proofs are based on a monotonicity formula, combined with a blow up (down) argument, the Kelvin transformation and the uniqueness of solutions of related degenerate equations on $\mathbb{S}^{n}_+$. We also investigate isolated singularities located at infinity of fractional Hardy-H\'enon equation.
Higher order expansion for the probabilistic local well-posedness theory for a cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation

Abstract:In this paper, we study the probabilistic local well-posedness of the cubic Schrödinger equation (cubic NLS): \[ (i\partial_{t} + \Delta) u = \pm |u|^{2} u \text{ on } [0,T) \times \mathbb{R}^{d}, \] with initial data being a Wiener randomization at unit scale of a given function $f$. Abstract:In this paper, we prove the smooth cubic moments vanish for the Hecke--Maass cusp forms, which gives a new case of the random wave conjecture. In fact, we can prove a polynomial decay for the smooth cubic moments, while for the smooth second moment (i.e. QUE) no rate of decay is known unconditionally for general Hecke--Maass cusp forms. The proof bases on various estimates of moments of central $L$-values. We prove the Lindelöf on average bound for the first moment of $\rm GL(3)\times GL(2)$ $L$-functions in short intervals of the subconvexity strength length, and the convexity strength upper bound for the mixed moment of $\rm GL(2)$ and the triple product $L$-functions. In particular, we prove new subconvexity bounds of certain $\rm GL(3)\times GL(2)$ $L$-functions.
