Abstract:We prove a new existence theorem for proper solutions of Huisken and Ilmanen's weak inverse mean curvature flow, assuming certain non-degeneracy conditions on the isoperimetric profile. In particular, no curvature assumption is imposed in our existence theorem.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of solutions to the centroaffine Minkowski problem, namely the existence of closed convex hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space R n + 1 \mathbb {R}^{n+1} with prescribed centroaffine curvature. This problem can be described as a variational problem with a functional resembling Kantorovich’s dual functional in optimal transportation. By using the Gauss curvature flow, we obtain new conditions for the existence of solutions to the problem.

Abstract:In this paper we study the geometry of first time singularities of the mean curvature flow. By the curvature pinching estimate of Huisken and Sinestrari, we prove that a mean curvature flow of hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space Rn+1 with positive mean curvature is K-noncollapsing, and a blow-up sequence converges locally smoothly along a subsequence to a smooth, convex blow-up solution. As a consequence we obtain a local Harnack inequality for the mean convex flow.

Abstract:Some geometric behaviours of complete solutions to mean curvature flow before the singularities occur are studied. The author obtains the estimates of the rate of the distance between two fixed points and the derivatives of the second fundamental form. Abstract:We consider a shrinking flow of smooth, closed, uniformly convex hypersurfaces in (n+1)-dimensional Euclidean space with speed fu^{alpha}{sigma}_n^{beta}, where u is the support function of the hypersurface, alpha, beta are two constants, and beta>0, sigma_n is the n-th symmetric polynomial of the principle curvature radii of the hypersurface. We prove that the flow has a unique smooth and uniformly convex solution for all time, and converges smoothly after normalisation, to a soliton which is a solution of an elliptic equation, when the constants alpha, beta belong to a suitable range, provided the initial hypersuface is origin-symmetric and f is a smooth positive even function on S^n. For the case alpha>= 1+n*beta, beta>0, we prove that the flow converges smoothly after normalisation to a unique smooth solution of an elliptic equation without any constraint on the initial hypersuface and smooth positive function f. When beta=1, our argument provides a uniform proof to the existence of the solutions to the equation of L_p Minkowski problem for p belongs to (-n-1,+infty).

Abstract:Under the hypothesis of mean curvature flows of hypersurfaces, we prove that the limit of the smooth rescaling of the singularity is weakly convex. It is a generalization of the result due to G. Huisken and C. Sinestrari in [5]. These a-priori bounds are satisfied for mean convex hypersurfaces in locally symmetric Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative sectional curvature.

Abstract:We prove that a proper weak solution $\{ \Omega_{t} \}_{0 \leq t < \infty}$ to inverse mean curvature flow in $\mathbb{H}^{n}$, $3\leq n \leq 7$, is smooth and star-shaped by the time \begin{equation*} T= (n-1) \log \left( \frac{\text{sinh} \left( r_{+} \right)}{ \text{sinh} \left( r_{-} \right)} \right), \end{equation*} where $r_{+}$ and $r_{-}$ are the geodesic out-radius and in-radius of the initial domain $\Omega_{0}$. The argument is inspired by the Alexandrov reflection method for extrinsic curvature flows in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ due to Chow-Gulliver and uses a result of Li-Wei. In addition to this, our methods establish expanding spheres as the only proper weak IMCF on $\mathbb{H}^{n} \setminus \{ 0 \}$ in all dimensions. As applications, we extend the Minkowski inequalities of Brendle-Hung-Wang and De Lima-Girao to outer-minimizing domains $\Omega_{0} \subset \mathbb{H}^{n}$ in dimensions $3 \leq n \leq 7$. From this, we also extend a Penrose-type inequality to balanced asymptotically hyperbolic graphs over the exteriors of outer-minimizing domains of $\mathbb{H}^{n}$ in these dimensions.

Abstract:Recently, Pipoli and Sinestrari [Pipoli, G. and Sinestrari, C., Mean curvature flow of pinched submanifolds of ℝℙ n , Comm. Anal. Geom. , 25 , 2017, 799–846] initiated the study of convergence problem for the mean curvature flow of small codimension in the complex projective space ℝℙ m . The purpose of this paper is to develop the work due to Pipoli and Sinestrari, and verify a new convergence theorem for the mean curvature flow of arbitrary codimension in the complex projective space. Namely, the authors prove that if the initial submanifold in ℝℙ m satisfies a suitable pinching condition, then the mean curvature flow converges to a round point in finite time, or converges to a totally geodesic submanifold as t → ∞. Consequently, they obtain a differentiable sphere theorem for submanifolds in the complex projective space.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the stability of the volume preserving mean curvature flow of closed hypersurfaces in the hyperbolic space. We prove that an L-2-almost umbilical hypersurface will be deformed to a totally umbilical hypersurface along the flow. Our result removes the assumption on the mean curvature in the theorems of Huang-Lin-Zhang [Peking J. Math. (2023)] and Leng-Xu-Zhao [Int. J. Math. (2014)].

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the closed eigenvalue problem on hypersurfaces evolving under the inverse mean curvature flow (IMCF) in <math>Rn+1</math>, prove that the first nonzero eigenvalue of p-Laplacian <math>(p>1)</math> is non-increasing along this flow, and find an interesting monotone quantity associated with the eigenvalue along the rescaled IMCF. Finally, using a new pinching condition preserved along the IMCF, the isoperimetric lower bound for this eigenvalue is determined.

Inverse mean curvature flow with outer obstacle

Abstract:We develop a new boundary condition for the weak inverse mean curvature flow, which gives canonical and non-trivial solutions in bounded domains. Roughly speaking, the boundary of the domain serves as an outer obstacle, and the evolving hypersurfaces are assumed to stick tangentially to the boundary upon contact. In smooth bounded domains, we prove an existence and uniqueness theorem for weak solutions, and establish $C^{1,\alpha}$ regularity of the level sets up to the obstacle. The proof combines various techniques, including elliptic regularization, blow-up analysis, and certain parabolic estimates. As an analytic application, we address the well-posedness problem for the usual weak inverse mean curvature flow, showing in a broad generality that the initial value problem always admits a unique maximal (or innermost) weak solution.

Abstract:We prove the short-time existence of the hyperbolic inverse (mean) curvature flow (with or without the specified forcing term) under the assumption that the initial compact smooth hypersurface of ℝ n +1 ( n ⩾ 2) is mean convex and star-shaped. Several interesting examples and some hyperbolic evolution equations for geometric quantities of the evolving hypersurfaces are shown. Besides, under different assumptions for the initial velocity, we can get the expansion and the convergence results of a hyperbolic inverse mean curvature flow in the plane ℝ 2 , whose evolving curves move normally.

Abstract:Huisken and Ilmanen in [37] created the theory of weak solutions for inverse mean curvature flows (IMCF) of hypersurfaces on Riemannian manifolds, and proved successfully a Riemannian version of the Penrose inequality. The present paper investigates and constructs a sub-Riemannian version of the theory of weak solutions for inverse mean curvature flows of hypersurfaces in the first Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^{1}$, and provides a positive answer to an open problem: the Heintze-Karcher inequality in $\mathbb{H}^{1}$. Furthermore, we introduce a $\mathbb{H}$-perimeter preserving flow (1.8) in the first Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^{1}$, which is derived by applying the Heisenberg dilation to HIMCF. This rescaled flow is subsequently applied to establish a Minkowski-type formula in $\mathbb{H}^{1}$.

A New Version of Huisken's Convergence Theorem for Mean Curvature Flow in Spheres

Abstract:We prove that if the initial hypersurface of the mean curvature flow in spheres satisfies a sharp pinching condition, then the solution of the flow converges to a round point or a totally geodesic sphere. Our result improves the famous convergence theorem due to Huisken [9]. Moreover, we prove a convergence theorem under the weakly pinching condition. In particular, we obtain a classification theorem for weakly pinched hypersurfaces. It should be emphasized that our pinching condition implies that the Ricci curvature of the initial hypersurface is positive, but does not imply positivity of the sectional curvature.
Global weak solutions for the inverse mean curvature flow in the Heisenberg group

Abstract:We consider the inverse mean curvature flow (IMCF) in the Heisenberg group $(\He^n, d_\varepsilon)$, where $d_\varepsilon$ is distance associated to either $| \cdot |_\varepsilon$, $\varepsilon>0$, the natural family of left-invariant Riemannian metrics, or with their sub-Riemannian counterparts for $\varepsilon=0$. For $\Omega \subseteq \He^n$ an open set with smooth boundary $\Sigma_0=\partial \Omega$ satisfying a uniform exterior gauge-ball condition and bounded complement we show existence of a global weak IMCF of generalized hypersurfaces $\{\Sigma^\varepsilon_s\}_{s \geq 0} \subseteq \mathbb{H}^n$ which is proper. Here, both in the Riemannian and in the sub-Riemannian setting, we adopt the weak formulation introduced by Huisken and Ilmanen in \cite{HuiskenIlmanen}, following the approach in \cite{Moser} due to Moser and based on the the link between IMCF and $p$-harmonic functions.

Abstract:In this article, we will study the isoperimetric problem by introducing a mean curvature type flow in the Riemannian manifold endowed with a non-trivial conformal vector field. This flow preserves the volume of the bounded domain enclosed by a star-shaped hypersurface and decreases the area of hypersurface under certain conditions. We will prove the long time existence and convergence of the flow. As a result, the isoperimetric inequality for such a domain is established. Especially, we solve the isoperimetric problem for the star-shaped hypersurfaces in the Riemannian manifold endowed with a closed, non-trivial conformal vector field, a wide class of warped product spaces studied by Guan, Li and Wang is included.

Abstract:In this paper, we first study the behavior of inverse mean curvature flow in Schwarzschild manifold. We show that if the initial hypersurface $\Sigma $ is strictly mean convex and star-shaped, then the flow hypersurface $\Sigma _t$ converges to a large coordinate sphere as $t\rightarrow \infty $ exponentially. We also describe an application of this convergence result. In the second part of this paper, we will analyse the inverse mean curvature flow in Kottler–Schwarzschild manifold. By deriving a lower bound for the mean curvature on the flow hypersurface independently of the initial mean curvature, we can use an approximation argument to show the global existence and regularity of the smooth inverse mean curvature flow for star-shaped and weakly mean convex initial hypersurface, which generalizes Huisken–Ilmanen’s (J Differ Geom 80:433–451, 2008) result.
