Abstract:Dumortier and Roussarie proposed a conjecture in their paper (2009, Discrete Con. Dyn. Sys., 2,723-781): For any \begin{document}$ q\in {\mathbb{N}} $\end{document} , the Abelian integrals \begin{document}$ J_{2j+1}(h) = \int_{\gamma_h}x^{2j-1}\,\mathrm dy $\end{document} , \begin{document}$ j = 0, 1, 2, \cdots, q $\end{document} , form a strict Chebyshev system on intervals \begin{document}$ h\in (0, \frac{1}{2}] $\end{document} , where \begin{document}$ \gamma_h = \{(x, y)| \mathrm e^{-2y}(y+\frac{1}{2}-x^2) = h\} $\end{document} . If this conjecture holds, then they obtain the precise upper bound of the number of limit cycles that appear near a slow-fast Hopf point of any codimension. In the present paper we develop a method to estimate the number of zeros of Abelian integrals and prove this conjecture.

Abstract:We present a tight extremal threshold for the existence of Hamilton cycles in graphs with large minimum degree and without a large ``bipartite hole`` (two disjoint sets of vertices with no edges between them). This result extends Dirac's classical theorem, and is related to a theorem of Chvátal and Erdős. In detail, an $(s, t)$-bipartite-hole in a graph $G$ consists of two disjoint sets of vertices $S$ and $T$ with $|S|= s$ and $|T|=t$ such that there are no edges between $S$ and $T$; and $\widetilde{\alpha}(G)$ is the maximum integer $r$ such that $G$ contains an $(s, t)$-bipartite-hole for every pair of non-negative integers $s$ and $t$ with $s + t = r$. Our central theorem is that a graph $G$ with at least $3$ vertices is Hamiltonian if its minimum degree is at least $\widetilde{\alpha}(G)$. From the proof we obtain a polynomial time algorithm that either finds a Hamilton cycle or a large bipartite hole. The theorem also yields a condition for the existence of $k$ edge-disjoint Hamilton cycles. We see that for dense random graphs $G(n,p)$, the probability of failing to contain many edge-disjoint Hamilton cycles is $(1 - p)^{(1 + o(1))n}$. Finally, we discuss the complexity of calculating and approximating $\widetilde{\alpha}(G)$.

Abstract:Given a bridgeless graph $G$, the Cycle Double Cover Conjecture posits that there is a list of cycles of $G$, such that every edge appears in exactly two cycles on the list. This conjecture was originally posed independently in 1973 by Szekeres and 1979 by Seymour. In 1985, Jaeger demonstrated that it is sufficient to prove in the case that $G$ is a cubic graph. We here present a proof that every bridgeless cubic graph has a cycle double cover by analyzing certain kinds of cycles in the line graph of $G$. Further, in the case that $G$ is cubic, we prove the stronger conjecture that given a bridgeless graph $G$ and a cycle $C$ in $G$, then there exists a cycle double cover of $G$ containing $C$.

Abstract:A middle-cube is an induced subgraph consisting of nodes at the middle two layers of a hypercube. The middle-cubes are related to the well-known Revolving Door (Middle Levels) conjecture. We study the middle-cube graph by completely characterizing its spectrum. Specifically, we first present a simple proof of its spectrum utilizing the fact that the graph is related to Johnson graphs which are distance-regular graphs and whose eigenvalues can be computed using the association schemes. We then give a second proof from a pure graph theory point of view without using its distance regular property and the technique of association schemes.

Abstract:For each pair of positive integers $(a,b)$ such that $a \geq 0$ and $b > 1$, the present paper provides a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of Hamiltonian cycles visiting all the vertices of any $k$-dimensional grid $\{0,1\}^k \subset \mathbb{R}^k$ and whose associated Euclidean distance is equal to $\sqrt{a^2+b^2}$. Our solution extends previously stated results in fairy chess on the existence of closed Euclidean $(a,b)$-leapers tours for $2 \times 2 \times \cdots \times 2$ chessboards, where the (Euclidean) knight identifies the $(1,2)$-leaper.

In this paper, we prove the cycle double cover conjecture. Abstract:In 1952, Dirac proved the following theorem about long cycles in graphs with large minimum vertex degrees: Every $n$-vertex $2$-connected graph $G$ with minimum vertex degree $\delta\geq 2$ contains a cycle with at least $\min\{2\delta,n\}$ vertices. In particular, if $\delta\geq n/2$, then $G$ is Hamiltonian. The proof of Dirac's theorem is constructive, and it yields an algorithm computing the corresponding cycle in polynomial time. The combinatorial bound of Dirac's theorem is tight in the following sense. There are 2-connected graphs that do not contain cycles of length more than $2\delta+1$. Also, there are non-Hamiltonian graphs with all vertices but one of degree at least $n/2$. This prompts naturally to the following algorithmic questions. For $k\geq 1$,

Abstract:Let D be a digraph and C be a cycle in D. For any two vertices x and y in D, the distance from x to y is the minimum length of a path from x to y. We denote the square of Let $D$ be a digraph and $C$ be a cycle in $D$. For any two vertices $x$ and $y$ in $D$, the distance from $x$ to $y$ is the minimum length of a path from $x$ to $y$. We denote the square of the cycle $C$ to be the graph whose vertex set is $V(C)$ and for distinct vertices $x$ and $y$ in $C$, there is an arc from $x$ to $y$ if and only if the distance from $x$ to $y$ in $C$ is at most $2$. The reverse square of the cycle $C$ is the digraph with the same vertex set as $C$, and the arc set $A(C)\cup \{yx: \mbox{the vertices}\ x, y\in V(C)\ \mbox{and the distance from $x$ to $y$ on $C$ is $2$}\}$. In this paper, we show that for any real number $\gamma>0$ there exists a constant $n_0=n_0(\gamma)$, such that every digraph on $n\geq n_0$ vertices with the minimum in- and out-degree at least $(2/3+\gamma)n$ contains the reverse square of a Hamiltonian cycle. Our result extends a result of Czygrinow, Kierstead and Molla.

A topological proof of the Hell-Nešetřil dichotomy

Abstract:We provide a new proof of a theorem of Hell and Nešetřil [J. Comb. Theory B, 48(1):92-110, 1990] using tools from topological combinatorics based on ideas of Lovász [J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A, 25(3):319-324, 1978]. The Hell-Nešetřil Theorem provides a dichotomy of the graph homomorphism problem. It states that deciding whether there is a graph homomorphism from a given graph to a fixed graph $H$ is in P if $H$ is bipartite (or contains a self-loop), and is NP-complete otherwise. In our proof we combine topological combinatorics with the algebraic approach to constraint satisfaction problem.

An alternate proof of Payan's theorem on cubelike graphs

Abstract:A cubelike graph is a Cayley graph on the product $\mathbb{Z}_2\times\cdots\times\mathbb{Z}_2$ of the integers modulo $2$ with itself finitely many times. In 1992, Payan proved that no cubelike graph can have chromatic number $3$. The authors of the present paper previously developed a general matrix method for studying chromatic numbers of Cayley graphs on abelian groups. In this note, we apply this method of Heuberger matrices to give an alternate proof of Payan's theorem.

Abstract:Beineke, Harary and Ringel discovered a formula for the minimum genus of a torus in which the $n$-dimensional hypercube graph can be embedded. We give a new proof of the formula by building this surface as a union of certain faces in the hypercube's 2-skeleton. For odd dimension $n$, the entire 2-skeleton decomposes into $(n-1)/2$ copies of the surface, and the intersection of any two copies is the hypercube graph.

Abstract:An $(n,k,t)$-graph is a graph on $n$ vertices in which every set of $k$ vertices contain a clique on $t$ vertices. Turán's Theorem (complemented) states that the unique minimum $(n,k,2)$-graph is a disjoint union of cliques. We prove that minimum $(n,k,t)$-graphs are always disjoint unions of cliques for any $t$ (despite nonuniqueness of extremal examples), thereby generalizing Turán's Theorem and confirming two conjectures of Hoffman et al.

Abstract:As we all know, the $k$-ary $n$-cube is a highly efficient interconnect network topology structure. It is also a concept of great significance, with a broad range of applications spanning both mathematics and computer science. In this paper, we study the existence of Hamiltonian cycles passing through prescribed matchings in $k$-ary $n$-cubes, and obtain the following result. For $n\geq5$ and $k\geq4$, every matching with at most $4n-20$ edges is contained in a Hamiltonian cycle in the $k$-ary $n$-cube.

About almost covering subsets of the hypercube

Abstract:Let $\mathbb{F}$ be a field, and consider the hypercube $\{ 0, 1 \}^{n}$ in $\mathbb{F}^{n}$. Sziklai and Weiner (Journal of Combinatorial Theory, Series A 2022) showed that if a polynomial $P ( X_{1}, \dots, X_{n} ) \in \mathbb{F}[ X_{1}, \dots, X_{n}]$ vanishes on every point of the hypercube $\{0,1\}^{n}$ except those with at most $r$ many ones then the degree of the polynomial will be at least $n-r$. This is a generalization of Alon and Füredi's fundamental result (European Journal of Combinatorics 1993) about polynomials vanishing on every point of the hypercube except at the origin (point with all zero coordinates). Sziklai and Weiner proved their interesting result using Möbius inversion formula and the Zeilberger method for proving binomial equalities. In this short note, we show that a stronger version of Sziklai and Weiner's result can be derived directly from Alon and Füredi's result.

Abstract:We study the function Hn(C2k) , the maximum number of Hamilton paths such that the union of any pair of them contains C2k as a subgraph. We give upper bounds on this quantity for k≥3 , improving results of Harcos and Soltész, and we show that if a conjecture of Ustimenko is true then one additionally obtains improved upper bounds for all k≥6 . We also give bounds on Hn(K2,3) and Hn(K2,4) . In order to prove our results, we extend a theorem of Krivelevich which counts Hamilton cycles in (n,d,λ) -graphs to bipartite or irregular graphs, and then apply these results to generalized polygons and the constructions of Lubotzky-Phillips-Sarnak and Füredi.

Abstract:If a graph G has n ≥ 4 k vertices and more than n 2 / 4 edges, then it contains a copy of C 2 k + 1. In 1992, Erdős, Faudree and Rousseau showed even more, that the number of edges that occur in a triangle of such a G is at least 2 ⌊ n / 2 ⌋ + 1, and this bound is tight. They also showed that the minimum number of edges in G that occur in a copy of C 2 k + 1 for k ≥ 2 suddenly starts being quadratic in n , and conjectured that for any k ≥ 2, the correct lower bound should be 2 n 2 / 9 − O ( n ). Very recently, Füredi and Maleki constructed a counterexample for k = 2 and proved an asymptotically matching lower bound, namely that for any ε > 0 graphs with ( 1 + ε ) n 2 / 4 edges contain at least ( 2 + 2 ) n 2 / 16 ∼ 0.2134 n 2 edges that occur in C 5. In this paper, we use a different approach to tackle this problem and prove the following stronger result: Every n -vertex graph with at least ⌊ n 2 / 4 ⌋ + 1 edges has at least ( 2 + 2 ) n 2 / 16 − O ( n 15 / 8 ) edges that occur in C 5. Next, for all k ≥ 3 and n sufficiently large, we determine the exact minimum number of edges that occur in C 2 k + 1 for n -vertex graphs with more than n 2 / 4 edges, and show it is indeed equal to ⌊ n 2 4 ⌋ + 1 − ⌊ n + 4 6 ⌋ ⌊ n + 1 6 ⌋ = 2 n 2 / 9 − O ( n ). For both of these results, we give a structural description of all the large extremal configurations as well as obtain the corresponding stability results, which answers a conjecture of Füredi and Maleki. The main ingredient of our results is a novel approach that combines the semidefinite method from flag algebras together with ideas from finite forcibility of graph limits, which may be of independent interest. This approach allowed us to keep track of the additional extra edge needed to guarantee even the existence of a single copy of C 2 k + 1, which a standard flag algebra approach would not be able to handle. Also, we establish the first application of the semidefinite method in a setting, where the set of tight examples has exponential size and arises from two very different constructions.
