Abstract:We consider a ferromagnetic particle levitated in air under microwave irradiation and theoretically study the noise in its rigid-body rotation induced by the gyromagnetic effect. This rotational noise includes useful information on angular momentum transfer from the magnetization to the rigid-body rotation, such as the unit of angular momentum per one spin relaxation process. We formulate the rotational noise in terms of the Lindblad equation, which describes the quantum stochastic process, and estimate it in the case of realistic experimental parameters. We show that a bifurcation phenomenon observed in our setup amplifies the noise and, therefore, can be exploited making an accurate measurement of the rotational noise.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is: **To study the rotational frequency fluctuations of suspended magnetic particles under microwave irradiation, especially the quantum fluctuations caused by the spin - relaxation process, and to explore the influence of these fluctuations on the transfer of angular momentum from magnetization to rigid - body rotation.** Specifically, the author focuses on the rotational behavior of a ferromagnetic particle suspended in air under microwave irradiation. Due to the gyromagnetic effect, there is a coupling between the spin and the mechanical rotation of the particle. This coupling leads to the rotational noise of the particle, which contains important information about the transfer of angular momentum from magnetization to rigid - body rotation. To describe this process, the author uses the Lindblad equation to describe the quantum stochastic process and combines Euler's equation in classical mechanics to describe the dynamics of the particle. ### Main problems 1. **Sources of rotational noise**: The paper explores the rotational noise caused by air resistance and Gilbert damping. In particular, Gilbert damping noise cannot be treated with the classical Landau - Lifshitz - Gilbert (LLG) equation, because the LLG equation can only describe the average value or thermal noise. 2. **Description of quantum fluctuations**: To solve the above problems, the author introduces the Lindblad equation, which is a fundamental equation for describing stochastic processes in open quantum systems. Through this method, the author is able to describe the angular momentum transfer accompanying the spin - relaxation process and calculate the corresponding noise. 3. **Application of bifurcation phenomena**: The author also finds that the bifurcation phenomena observed in the experimental setup can amplify the rotational noise, thus helping to measure the rotational noise more accurately. The bifurcation phenomena occur near the steady - state solution of the system. When the system approaches the bifurcation point, the restoring force weakens and the noise increases. ### Formula summary - **Lindblad equation**: \[ \frac{d\rho_S}{dt}=-\frac{i}{\hbar}[H,\rho_S]+\Gamma\left(L\rho_S L^\dagger-\frac{1}{2}\{L^\dagger L,\rho_S\}\right) \] where \(H\) is the Hamiltonian, \(L = S_-\) is the transition operator, and \(\Gamma\) is the spin - relaxation rate. - **Power spectrum of rotational noise**: \[ S(f)=\frac{2}{f^2I^2+\epsilon^2}(S_1 + S_2+S_3+S_3^-) \] where \(S_1\) is the thermal noise caused by the surrounding air, \(S_2\) is the shot noise caused by the quantized angular momentum transfer, and \(S_3\) is the back - action noise caused by the quantum measurement. ### Conclusion Through theoretical analysis and numerical simulation, the author proves that the rotational noise is significantly enhanced when approaching the bifurcation point. This provides an effective method for accurately measuring the spin - transfer noise. In addition, the shot noise provides information about the basic unit \(\hbar\) of angular momentum transfer, which is of great significance for understanding the coupling between magnetization and rigid - body rotation. In general, this paper provides a powerful method to obtain detailed information about the transfer of angular momentum from magnetization to rigid - body rotation, which has not been measured before.
