Abstract:In this paper, we consider Piatetski-Shapiro sequences related to dense sets. We can improve a classical result of Rivat and Sárközy. We can enlarge previous effective range $(1,13/11)$ to $(1,6/5).$

Abstract:In this paper, we prove an asymptotic formula for the number of relatively prime pairs in the Piatetski-Shapiro sequence of arbitrarily large order. This improves the result of Pimsert, Srichan and Tangsupphathawat (2023), the order of which was restricted to be $<\frac{3}{2}$. The key ingredients of the proof are a simple averaging trick and an extension of Deshouillers' result on the distribution of the Piatetski-Shapiro sequence in arithmetic progressions.

Abstract:The Piatetski-Shapiro sequences are of the form $\mathcal{N}^{(c)} := (\lfloor n^c \rfloor)_{n=1}^\infty$ with $c > 1, c \not\in \mathbb{N}$. In this paper, we study the distribution of pairs $(p, p^{\#})$ of consecutive primes such that $p \in \mathcal{N}^{(c_1)}$ and $p^{\#} \in \mathcal{N}^{(c_2)}$ for $c_1, c_2 > 1$ and give a conjecture with the prime counting functions of the pairs $(p, p^{\#})$. We give a heuristic argument to support this prediction which relies on a strong form of the Hardy-Littlewood conjecture. Moreover, we prove a proposition related to the average of singular series with a weight of a complex exponential function.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove that for any fixed $205/243<\gamma\leqslant1$, every sufficiently large $N$ satisfying $N\equiv 5 \pmod {24}$ can be represented as five squares of primes with one prime in $\mathcal{P}_\gamma$, which improves the previous result of Zhang and Zhai.

Abstract:Let $\pi(x;\gamma_1,\gamma_2)$ denote the number of primes $p$ with $p\leqslant x$ and $p=\lfloor n^{1/\gamma_1}_1\rfloor=\lfloor n^{1/\gamma_2}_2\rfloor$, where $\lfloor t\rfloor$ denotes the integer part of $t\in\mathbb{R}$ and $1/2<\gamma_2<\gamma_1<1$ are fixed constants. In this paper, we show that $\pi(x;\gamma_1,\gamma_2)$ holds an asymptotic formula for $21/11<\gamma_1+\gamma_2<2$, which constitutes an improvement upon the previous result of Baker [1].

Abstract:Let $\lfloor t\rfloor$ denote the integer part of $t\in\mathbb{R}$ and $\|x\|$ the distance from $x$ to the nearest integer. Suppose that $1/2<\gamma_2<\gamma_1<1$ are two fixed constants. In this paper, it is proved that, whenever $\alpha$ is an irrational number and $\beta$ is any real number, there exist infinitely many prime numbers $p$ in the intersection of two Piatetski-Shapiro sets, i.e., $p=\lfloor n_1^{1/\gamma_1}\rfloor=\lfloor n_2^{1/\gamma_2}\rfloor$, such that \begin{equation*} \|\alpha p+\beta\|<p^{-\frac{12(\gamma_1+\gamma_2)-23}{38}+\varepsilon}, \end{equation*} provided that $23/12<\gamma_1+\gamma_2<2$. This result constitutes an generalization upon the previous result of Dimitrov.

These results generalize the result of Pan and Ding [37] and constitutes an improvement upon a series of previous results of [29,31,39,47].

Abstract:Let $ q $ be a sufficiently large odd integer, and let $ c \in\left(1, \frac{4}{3}\right) $. We denote $ R(c; q) $ as the count of square-free numbers in the intersection of the Lehmer set and the Piatetski-Shapiro sequence. By employing additive character properties to transform congruence equations and applying Kloosterman sums and methods of exponential sums, we derive a sharp asymptotic formula as $ q $ approaches infinity, which is significant for understanding the distribution properties of the Lehmer problem.

Abstract:For $\alpha>1$, set $\beta=1/(\alpha-1)$. We show that, for every $1<\alpha<(\sqrt{21}+4)/5\approx1.717$, the number of pairs $(m,n)$ of positive integers with $d=\lfloor{n^\alpha}\rfloor - \lfloor{m^\alpha}\rfloor$ is equal to $\beta\alpha^{-\beta}\zeta(\beta)d^{\beta-1} + o(d^{\beta-1})$ as $d\to\infty$, where $\zeta$ denotes the Riemann zeta function. We use this result to derive an asymptotic formula for the number of triplets $(l,m,n)$ of positive integers such that $l<x$ and $\lfloor{l^\alpha}\rfloor + \lfloor{m^\alpha}\rfloor = \lfloor{n^\alpha}\rfloor$. Furthermore, we prove that the additive energy of the sequence $(\lfloor{n^\alpha}\rfloor)_{n=1}^N$, i.e., the number of quadruples $(n_1,n_2,n_3,n_4)$ of positive integers with $\lfloor{n_1^\alpha}\rfloor+\lfloor{n_2^\alpha}\rfloor=\lfloor{n_3^\alpha}\rfloor+\lfloor{n_4^\alpha}\rfloor$ and $n_1,n_2,n_3,n_4\le N$, is equal to $O_\alpha(N^{4-\alpha})$ when $1<\alpha\le4/3$.

Abstract:Even though Zaremba's conjecture remains open, Bourgain and Kontorovich solved the problem for a full density subset. Nevertheless, there are only a handful of explicit sequences known to satisfy the strong version of the conjecture, all of which were obtained using essentially the same algorithm. In this note, we provide a refined algorithm using the folding lemma for continued fractions, which both generalizes and improves on the old one. As a result, we uncover new examples that fulfill the strong version of Zaremba's conjecture.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove a quantitative version of the statement that every nonempty finite subset of ℕ + is a set of quadratic residues for infinitely many primes of the form [ n c ] with 1 ≤ c ≤ 243/205. Correspondingly, we can obtain a similar result for the case of quadratic non-residues under reasonable assumptions. These results generalize the previous ones obtained by Wright in certain aspects.

Abstract:An upper bound is established for certain exponential sums on the rational points of an elliptic curve over a residue class ring $\mathbb{Z}_N$, N=pq for two distinct odd primes p and q. The result is a generalization of an estimate of exponential sums on rational point groups of elliptic curves over finite fields. The bound is applied to showing the pseudorandomness of a large family of binary sequences constructed by using elliptic curves over $\mathbb{Z}_N$.
On the Piatetski-Shapiro construction for integral models of Shimura varieties

Abstract:We study the Piatetski-Shapiro construction, which takes a totally real field F and a Shimura datum (G,X) and produces a new Shimura datum (H,Y). If F is Galois, then the Galois group Gamma of F acts on (H,Y), and we show that the Gamma-fixed points of the Shimura varieties for (H,Y) recover the Shimura varieties for (G,X) under some hypotheses. For Shimura varieties of Hodge type with parahoric level, we show that the same is true for the p-adic integral models constructed by Pappas--Rapoport, if p is unramified in F. We also study the Gamma-fixed points of the Igusa stacks of Zhang for (H,Y) and prove optimal results.
