Abstract: Let $d(n; r_1, q_1, r_2, q_2)$ be the number of factorization $n=n_1n_2$ satisfying $n_i\equiv r_i\pmod{q_i}$ ($i=1,2$) and $\Delta(x; r_1, q_1, r_2, q_2)$ be the error term of the summatory function of $d(n; r_1, q_1, r_2, q_2)$ with $x\geq (q_1q_2)^{1+\varepsilon}, 1\leq r_i\leq q_i$, and $(r_i, q_i)=1$ ($i=1, 2$). We study the power moments and sign changes of $\Delta(x; r_1, q_1, r_2, q_2)$, and prove that for a sufficiently large constant $C$, $\Delta(q_1q_2x; r_1, q_1, r_2, q_2)$ changes sign in the interval $[T,T+C\sqrt{T}]$ for any large $T$. Meanwhile, we show that for a small constant $c'$, there exist infinitely many subintervals of length $c'\sqrt{T}\log^{-7}T$ in $[T,2T]$ where $\pm \Delta(q_1q_2x; r_1, q_1, r_2, q_2)> c_5x^\frac{1}{4}$ always holds.

Abstract:Let $\tau_k(n)$ be the $k$-th divisor function. In this paper, we derive an asymptotic formula for the sum $$ \sum_{1\leq n_1,n_2, \dots, n_{\ell}\leq X^{\frac{1}{r}} \atop 1\leq n_{\ell+1}\le X^{\frac{1}{s}}}\tau_k(n_1^r+n_2^r+\dots +n_{\ell}^r+n_{\ell+1}^s), $$ where $k\geq 4$, $r\geq 2$, $s\geq 2$ and $\ell\geq 2$ are integers. Previously only special cases are studied.

Abstract:We prove some distribution results for the $k$-fold divisor function in arithmetic progressions to moduli that exceed the square-root of length $X$ of the sum, with appropriate constrains and averaging on the moduli, saving a power of $X$ from the trivial bound. On assuming the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis, we obtain uniform power saving error terms that are independent of $k$. We follow and specialize Y.T. Zhang's method on bounded gaps between primes to our setting. Our arguments are essentially self-contained, with the exception on the use of Deligne's work on the Riemann Hypothesis for varieties over finite fields. In particular, we avoid the reliance on Siegel's theorem, leading to some effective estimates.

Abstract:Given a multiplicative function $f$, we let $S(x,f)=\sum_{n\leq x}f(n)$ be the associated partial sum. In this note, we show that lower bounds on partial sums of divisor-bounded functions result in lower bounds on the partial sums associated to their products. More precisely, we let $f_j$, $j=1,2$ be such that $|f_j(n)|\leq \tau(n)^\kappa$ for some $\kappa\in\mathbb{N}$, and assume their partial sums satisfy $\left|S(x_j,f_j)\right|\geq \eta x_j (\log x_j)^{2^\kappa-1}$ for some $x_1, x_2\gg 1$ and $\eta>\max_j\{(\log x_j)^{-1/100}\}$. We then show that there exists $x\geq \min\{x_1, x_2\}^{\xi^2}$ such that $\left|S(x,f_1f_2)\right|\geq \xi x (\log x)^{2^{2\kappa}-1}$, where $\xi=C\eta^{1+2^{\kappa+3}}$ for some absolute constant $C>0$.

Abstract:We obtain an upper bound for the sum $\sum_{n\leq N} (a_{n}/\varphi (a_{n}))^{s}$, where $\varphi$ is Euler's totient function, $s\in \mathbb{N}$, and $a_{1},\ldots, a_{N}$ are positive integers (not necessarily distinct) with some restrictions. As applications, for any $t>0$, we obtain an upper bound for the number of $n\in [1,N]$ such that $a_{n}/ \varphi (a_{n})> t$.

Abstract:Every positive integer $l \in \mathbb{N}$ can be formed $l = (m + n)d$, provided $gcd(m,n)=1$. From this point of view, the next formulas $n=\sum_{d|l} \varphi(d)$ and $\frac{n(n+1)}{2}=\sum_{k=1}^{n} \varphi(k)[\frac{n}{k}]$, and these equivalence had been proved. In this paper on an extension of these results, the next identity is proved: $\sum_{k=1}^{n} \sum_{\substack{(a+b)c=k \\ gcd(a,b)=1}} f(a,b)\cdot g(c) = \sum_{k=1}^{n} \sum_{\substack{a+b=k \\ gcd(a,b)=1}} f(a,b) \sum_{i\leq [\frac{n}{k}]} g(i) = \sum_{a+b \leq n} f(\frac{a}{gcd(a,b)},\frac{b}{gcd(a,b)})\cdot g(gcd(a,b))$. We also show the next formulas are corollaries of it: $\sum_{k=1}^{n} \tau(k)=\sum_{k=1}^{n} [\frac{n}{k}] = \sum_{a+b \leq n} \frac{1}{\varphi(\frac{a+b}{gcd(a,b)})}$, $\sum_{d|n} f(d)\cdot g(\frac{n}{d}) = \sum_{k = 1}^{n} f(gcd(k,n))\cdot\frac{g(\frac{n}{gcd(k,n)})}{\varphi(\frac{n}{gcd(k,n)})}$, $\tau(n)=\sum_{a+b = n} \frac{1}{\varphi(\frac{a+b}{gcd(a,b)})}$, $\sum_{\substack{a+b=n \\ gcd(a,b)=1}} gcd(a-1,b+1) = \sum_{a+b=n} \frac{\varphi(n)}{\varphi(\frac{n}{gcd(a,b)})}$, and so on. Abstract:Let $d^{(k)}(n)$ be the $k$-free divisor function for integer $k\ge2$. Let $a$ be a nonzero integer. In this paper, we establish an asymptotic formula \begin{equation*} \sum_{p\leq x} d^{(k)}(p-a) =b_k \cdot x+O\left(\frac{x}{\log x}\right) \end{equation*} related to the Titchmarsh divisor problem, where $b_k$ is a positive constant dependent on $k$ and $a$. For the proof, we apply a result of Felix and show a general asymptotic formula for a class of arithmetic functions including the unitary divisor function, $k$-free divisor function and the proper Pillai's function.

Abstract:We study a certain class of arithmetic functions that appeared in Klurman's classification of $\pm 1$ multiplicative functions with bounded partial sums, c.f., Comp. Math. 153 (8), 2017, pp. 1622-1657. These functions are periodic and $1$-pretentious. We prove that if $f_1$ and $f_2$ belong to this class, then $\sum_{n\leq x}(f_1\ast f_2)(n)=\Omega(x^{1/4})$. This confirms a conjecture by the first author. As a byproduct of our proof, we studied the correlation between $\Delta(x)$ and $\Delta(\theta x)$, where $\theta$ is a fixed real number. We prove that there is a non-trivial correlation when $\theta$ is rational, and a decorrelation when $\theta$ is irrational. Moreover, if $\theta$ has a finite irrationality measure, then we can make it quantitative this decorrelation in terms of this measure.

Abstract:Let $d_k(n) = \sum_{n_1 \cdots n_k = n}1$ be the $k$-fold divisor function. We call a function $f:\mathbb{N} \to \mathbb{C}$ a $d_k$-bounded multiplicative function, if $f$ is multiplicative and $|f(n)| \leq d_k(n)$ for every $n \in \mathbb{N}$. In this paper we improve Mangerel's results which extend the Matomäki-Radziwi{łł} theorem to divisor bounded multiplicative functions. In particular, we prove that for sufficiently large $X \geq 2$, any $\epsilon>0$ and $h \geq (\log X)^{k \log k - k + 1 + \epsilon}$ , we have $$ \frac{1}{h}\sum_{x<n\leq x+h}d_k(n)-\frac{1}{x}\sum_{x<n\leq 2x}d_{k}(n) = o(\log^{k-1} x) $$ for almost all $x \in [X,2X]$. We also demonstrate that the exponent $k \log k-k+1$ is optimal.

Abstract:Motivated by a question of V. Bergelson and F. K. Richter (2017), we obtain asymptotic formulas for the number of relatively prime tuples composed of positive integers $n\le N$ and integer parts of polynomials evaluated at $n$. The error terms in our formulas are of various strengths depending on the Diophantine properties of the leading coefficients of these polynomials.

Abstract:For any real number $t$, let $[t]$ denote the integer part of $t$. In this paper it is proved that if $1<c<\frac{247}{238}$, then for sufficiently large integer $N$, the equation \[\left[p^{c}\right]+\left[m^{c}\right]=N\] has a solution in a prime $p$ and an almost prime $m$ with at most $\left[\frac{450}{247-238c}\right]+1$ prime factors. This result constitutes an improvement upon that of Petrov and Tolev.

Abstract:In the late eighties, Hildebrand and Tenenbaum proved an asymptotic formula for the number of positive integers below $x$, having exactly $\nu$ distinct prime divisors: $\pi_{\nu}(x) \sim x \delta_{\nu}(x)$. Here we consider the restricted count $\pi_{\nu}(x,y)$ for integers lying in the short interval $[x,x+y]$. Extending the result of Hildebrand-Tenenbaum to this setting, we show that for any $\varepsilon >0$ \[ \pi_{\nu}(x,y) \sim y \delta_{\nu}(x), \] uniformly over all $1 \le \nu \le \log x/(\log \log x)^{4+\varepsilon}$ and all $x^{7/12 +\varepsilon} \le y \le x$. Consequently, we obtain mean upper bounds for the $k$-fold divisor function $\tau_k$ in short intervals, with strong uniformity in $k$.
