Abstract:In this paper, we define a generalized elliptic genus of an almost complex manifold with an extra complex bundle which generalize the elliptic genus in [10]. This generalized elliptic genus is a generalized Jacobi form. By this generalized Jacobi form, we can get some SL(2,Z) modular forms. By these SL(2,Z) modular forms, we get some interesting anomaly cancellation formulas for an almost complex manifold . As corollaries, we get some divisibility results of the holomorphic Euler characteristic number.

Abstract:In this paper, by combining modular forms and characteristic forms, we obtain general anomaly cancellation formulas of any dimension. For $4k+2$ dimensional manifolds, our results include the gravitational anomaly cancellation formulas of Alvarez-Gaum\'e and Witten in dimensions 2, 6 and 10 (\cite{AW}) as special cases. In dimension $4k+1$, we derive anomaly cancellation formulas for index gerbes. In dimension $4k+3$, we obtain certain results about eta invariants, which are interesting in spectral geometry.

Moreover, it’s also a candidate of TOE (“theory of everything”), describing all the known fundamental forces and matters in our universe in a mathematically complete system. In conventional theories, elementary particles are mathematical points, whereas, the fundamental objects in string theory are 1-dimensional oscillating lines or loops.

Abstract:By some SL(2, Z) modular forms introduced in [4] and [10], we construct some modular forms over SL2(Z) and some modular forms over {\Gamma}^0(2) and {\Gamma}_0(2) in odd dimensions. In parallel, we obtain some new cancellation formulas for odd dimensional spin manifolds and odd dimensional spin^c manifolds respectively. As corollaries, we get some divisibility results of index of the Toeplitz operators on spin manifolds and spin^c manifolds .

Abstract:Recently Freed and Hopkins [11] proved that there is no parity anomaly in M-theory on pin(+) manifolds in the low-energy field theory approximation, and they also developed an algebraic theory of cubic forms. Earlier Witten [33] proved the anomaly cancellation for spin manifolds by introducing the E-8-bundle technique. Motivated by the cubic forms and the anomaly cancellation formulas of Witten-Freed-Hopkins, we give some new cubic forms on spin, spinc(e), spin(omega 2) and orientable 12-manifolds respectively. We relate them to eta-invariants when the manifolds are with boundary, and mod 2 indices on 10 dimensional characteristic submanifolds when the manifolds are spinc or spin(omega 2). Our method of producing these cubic forms is a combination of (generalized) Witten classes and the character of the basic representation of affine E-8. (C) 2021 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Abstract:In this paper, we extend the elliptic genus in [10] by the gauge group E_8 and the gauge group E_8*E_8. Then we prove that the generalized elliptic genus are the weak Jacobi forms. Abstract:We study the instanton partition functions of two well-known superconformal field theories with mass deformations. Two types of anomaly equations, namely, the modular anomaly and holomorphic anomaly, have been discovered in the literature. We provide a clean solution to the long standing puzzle about their precise relation, and obtain some universal formulas. We show that the partition function is invariant under the SL(2,Z) duality which exchanges theories at strong coupling with those of weak coupling.

Abstract:We propose a novel modular anomaly equation for the unflavored Schur index in the $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 SU(N) super-Yang-Mills theory. The vanishing conditions overdetermine the modular ambiguity ansatz from the equation, thus together they are sufficient to recursively compute the exact Schur indices for all SU(N) gauge groups. Using the representations as MacMahon’s generalized sum-of-divisors functions and Jacobi forms, we then prove our proposal as well as elucidate a general formula conjectured by Pan and Peelaers.

Abstract:Matrix-valued holomorphic quantum modular forms are intricate objects that arise in successive refinements of the Volume Conjecture of knots and involve three holomorphic, asymptotic and arithmetic objects. It is expected that the algebraic properties of these objects can be deduced from the algebraic properties of descendant state integrals, and we illustrate this for the case of the $(-2,3,7)$-pretzel knot.

Abstract:We prove the unbounded denominators conjecture in the theory of noncongruence modular forms for finite index subgroups of SL_2(Z). Our result includes also Mason's generalization of the original conjecture to the setting of vector-valued modular forms, thereby supplying a new path to the congruence property in rational conformal field theory. The proof involves a new arithmetic holonomicity bound of a potential-theoretic flavor, together with Nevanlinna's second main theorem, the congruence subgroup property of SL_2(Z[1/p]), and a close description of the Fuchsian uniformization D(0,1)/\Gamma_N of the Riemann surface C \setminus \mu_N.

Abstract:We study non-holomorphic modular forms built from iterated integrals of holomorphic modular forms for SL(2, Z ) known as equivariant iterated Eisenstein integrals. A special subclass of them furnishes an equivalent description of the modular graph forms appearing in the low-energy expansion of string amplitudes at genus one. Notably the Fourier expansion of modular graph forms contains single-valued multiple zeta values. We deduce the appearance of products and higher-depth instances of multiple zeta values in equivariant iterated Eisenstein integrals, and ultimately modular graph forms, from the appearance of simpler odd Riemann zeta values. This analysis relies on so-called zeta generators which act on certain non-commutative variables in the generating series of the iterated integrals. From an extension of these non-commutative variables we incorporate iterated integrals involving holomorphic cusp forms into our setup and use them to construct the modular completion of triple Eisenstein integrals. Our work represents a fully explicit realisation of the modular graph forms within Brown's framework of equivariant iterated Eisenstein integrals and reveals structural analogies between single-valued period functions appearing in genus zero and one string amplitudes.
