Abstract:We identify a new way to divide the $\delta$-neighborhood of surfaces $\mathcal{M}\subset\mathbb{R}^3$ into a finitely-overlapping collection of rectangular boxes $S$. We obtain a sharp $(l^2,L^p)$ decoupling estimate using this decomposition, for the sharp range of exponents $2\leq p\leq 4$. Our decoupling inequality leads to new exponential sum estimates where the frequencies lie on surfaces which do not contain a line.

Abstract:For each $d\geq 0$, we prove decoupling inequalities in $\mathbb R^3$ for the graphs of all bivariate polynomials of degree at most $d$ with bounded coefficients, with the decoupling constant depending uniformly in $d$ but not the coefficients of each individual polynomial. As a consequence, we prove a decoupling inequality for (a compact piece of) every smooth surface in $\mathbb{R}^3$, which in particular solves a conjecture of Bourgain, Demeter and Kemp.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish local well-posedness for the Zakharov system on $\mathbb{T}^d$, $d\ge3$ in a low regularity setting. Our result improves the work of Kishimoto. Moreover, the result is sharp up to $\varepsilon$-loss of regularity when $d=3$ and $d\ge5$ as long as one utilizes the iteration argument. We introduce ideas from recent developments of the Fourier restriction theory. The key element in the proof of our well-posedness result is a new trilinear discrete Fourier restriction estimate involving paraboloid and cone. We prove this trilinear estimate by improving Bourgain--Demeter's range of exponent for the linear decoupling inequality for paraboloid under the constraint that the input space-time function $f$ satisfies ${\rm supp}\, \hat{f} \subset \{ (\xi,\tau) \in \mathbb{R}^{d+1}: 1- \frac1N \le |\xi| \le 1 + \frac1N,\; |\tau - |\xi|^2| \le \frac1{N^{2}} \} $ for large $N\ge1$.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove local Hölder continuity for the spatial gradient of weak solutions to $$u_t - \text{div} (|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u) + \text{P.V.} \int_{\mathbb{R}^n} \frac{|u(x,t) - u(y,t)|^{p-2}(u(x,t)-u(y,t))}{|x-y|^{n+ps}} \ dy = 0.$$ It is easy to see that parabolic quasilinear equations are not scaling invariant and this led to the development of the method of intrinsic scaling by E.DiBenedetto, E.DiBenedetto-Y.Z.Chen, J.Kinnunen-J.Lewis and A.Friedman-E.DiBenedetto. In a very recent paper, <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://C.de" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> Filippis-G.Mingione proved gradient Hölder continuity for mixed local-nonlocal quasilinear elliptic equations and in this paper, we extend this result to the parabolic case. Since we only expect regularity for $\nabla_x u$ in the parabolic setting, it is not clear how to extend the elliptic proof to the parabolic case. In order to overcome this difficulty, we instead follow the ideas developed by T.Kuusi-G.Mingione combined with the novel tail estimates of C.deFilippis-G.Mingione. An advantage of our approach is that we can obtain both $C^{1,\alpha}_x$ regularity as well as $C^{0,1} _x$ potential estimates in one go. Moreover, we do not need to make use of any form of Caccioppoli inequality and instead, the regularity is obtained only through a suitable difference estimate.

Abstract:We introduce new function spaces $\mathcal{L}_{W,s}^{q,p}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$ that yield a natural reformulation of the $\ell^{q}L^{p}$ decoupling inequalities for the sphere and the light cone. These spaces are invariant under the Euclidean half-wave propagators, but not under all Fourier integral operators unless $p=q$, in which case they coincide with the Hardy spaces for Fourier integral operators. We use these spaces to obtain improvements of the classical fractional integration theorem and local smoothing estimates.

Abstract:We prove sharp $L^2$ Fourier restriction inequalities for compact, smooth surfaces in $\mathbb{R}^3$ equipped with the affine surface measure or a power thereof. The results are valid for all smooth surfaces and the bounds are uniform for all surfaces defined by the graph of polynomials of degrees up to $d$ with bounded coefficients. Abstract:This study investigates the boundedness of the $ H^\infty $-calculus for the negative discrete Laplace operator subject to homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. The discrete Laplace operator is realized via the finite element method, and we demonstrate that its $ H^\infty $-calculus is uniformly bounded with respect to the spatial mesh size. Using this result, we deduce the discrete stochastic maximal $ L^p $-regularity estimate for a spatial semidiscretization. Additionally, we provide (almost) optimal error estimates for the semidiscretization under a broad class of spatial $ L^q $-norms.

Abstract:We analyze $p$-Laplace operators with degenerate elliptic coefficients. This investigation includes Grušin type $p$-Laplace operators. We describe a \emph{separation phenomenon} in elliptic and parabolic $p$-Laplace type equations, which provides an illuminating illustration of simple jump discontinuities of the corresponding weak solutions. Interestingly validity of an isoperimetric inequality for considered setting does not imply continuity of elliptic equations. On the other hand, we are able to establish global $L^1$-$L^\infty$-regularization and decay estimates of every mild solution of the parabolic Grušin type $p$-Laplace equation.

Abstract:We prove multiple vector‐valued and mixed‐norm estimates for multilinear operators in Rd , more precisely for multilinear operators Tk associated to a symbol singular along a k ‐dimensional space and for multilinear variants of the Hardy‐Littlewood maximal function. When the dimension d⩾2 , the input functions are not necessarily in Lp(Rd) and can instead be elements of mixed‐norm spaces Lx1p1...Lxdpd . Such a result has interesting consequences especially when L∞ spaces are involved. Among these, we mention mixed‐norm Loomis‐Whitney‐type inequalities for singular integrals, as well as the boundedness of multilinear operators associated to certain rational symbols. We also present examples of operators that are not susceptible to isotropic rescaling, which only satisfy "purely mixed‐norm estimates" and no classical Lp estimates. Relying on previous estimates implied by the helicoidal method, we also prove (non‐mixed‐norm) estimates for generic singular Brascamp‐Lieb‐type inequalities.
