Abstract:In this article we undertake a careful study of the curvature operator of a field of Bergman spaces associated to a holomorphic fibration of Kähler manifolds. We focus on the case when the fibers are smoothly bounded pseudoconvex domains.

Abstract:Let p : chi -> S be a proper Kahler fibration and epsilon -> chi a Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle. As motivated by the work of Berndtsson ([Bern09]), by using basic Hodge theory, we derive several general curvature formulas for the direct image p(*) (K-chi/S circle times epsilon) for general Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle epsilon in a simple way. A straightforward application is that, if the family chi -> S is infinitesimally trivial and Hermitian vector bundle epsilon is Nakano-negative along the base S, then the direct image p(*) (K-chi/S circle times epsilon) is Nakano-negative. We also use these curvature formulas to study the moduli space of projectively flat vector bundles with positive first Chern classes and obtain that, if the Chern curvature of direct image p(*)(K-X circle times E)-of a positive projectively flat family (E, h(t))(t is an element of D) -> X-vanishes, then the curvature forms of this family are connected by holomorphic automorphisms of the pair (X, E).

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the geometry of the moduli space of curves by using the curvature properties of direct image sheaves of vector bundles. We show that the moduli space $(M_g, \omega_{WP})$ of curves with genus $g>1$ has dual-Nakano negative and semi-Nakano-negative curvature, and in particular, it has non-positive Riemannain curvature operator and also non-positive complex sectional curvature. As applications, we prove that any submanifold in $M_g$ which is totally geodesic in $A_g$ with finite volume must be a ball quotient. We also show that, on a Kodaira (deformation) surface, there is no K\"ahler metric with non-positive Riemannain sectional curvature although it possesses K\"ahler metrics with strictly negative holomorphic bisectional curvature.

Abstract:This paper investigates the curvature properties of higher direct images $ R^qf_*\Omega_{X/S}^p(E)$, where $f: X\rightarrow S$ is a family of compact Kähler manifolds equipped with a hermitian vector bundle $E \rightarrow X$. We derive a general curvature formula and explore several special cases, including those where $p + q = n$, $q = 0$, and $p = n$, with $E$ being a line bundle. Furthermore, the paper examines the curvature in the context of fiberwise hermitian flat cases, families of Hermite-Einstein vector bundles, and applications to moduli spaces and Weil-Petersson metrics, providing some insight into their geometric and analytical properties.

Abstract:Given a family $(F,h) \to X \times S$ of Hermite-Einstein bundles on a compact Kähler manifold $(X,g)$ we consider the higher direct image sheaves $R^q p_* \mathcal{O}(F)$ on $S$, where $p: X \times S \to S$ is the projection. On the complement of an analytic subset these sheaves are locally free and carry a natural metric, induced by the $L_2$ inner product of harmonic forms on the fibers. We compute the curvature of this metric which has a simpler form for families with fixed determinant and families of endomorphism bundles. Furthermore, we discuss the metric for moduli spaces of stable vector bundles.

Abstract:Further geometry and topology for pseudo-holomorphic curves in complex Grassmannians Gn(CN) are studied. Some curvature pinching theorems for pseudo-holomorphic curves with constant Kahler angles in G(m)(C-N) are obtained, so that the corresponding results for pseudo-holomorphic curves in complex projective spaces are generalized.
Berndtsson-Lempert-Szőke Fields Associated to Proper Holomorphic Families of Vector Bundles

Abstract:Drawing on work of Berndtsson and of Lempert and Szőke, we define a kind of complex analytic structure for families of (possibly finite-dimensional) Hilbert spaces that might not fit together to form a holomorphic vector bundle but nevertheless have a reasonable definition of curvature that agrees with the curvature of the Chern connection when the family of Hilbert spaces is locally trivial. We thus obtain a new proof of a celebrated theorem of Berndtsson on the curvature of direct images of semi-positively twisted relative canonical bundles (i.e., adjoint bundles), and of its higher-rank generalization due to Liu and Yang.

Abstract:Given a field of Hilbert spaces there are two ways to endow it with a smooth structure: the standard and geometrical notion of Hilbert (or Hermitian) bundle and the analytical notion of smooth field of Hilbert spaces. We study the relationship between these concepts in a general framework. We apply our results in the following interesting example called Riemannian direct images: Let $M,N$ be Riemannian oriented manifolds, $\rho:M\to N$ be a submersion and $\pi:E\to M$ a finite dimensional vector bundle. Also, let $M_\lambda=\rho^{-1}(\lambda)$ and fix a suitable measure $\mu_\lambda$ in $M_\lambda$. Does the field of Hilbert spaces $\mathcal{H}(\lambda)=L^2(M_\lambda,E)$ admits a smooth field of Hilbert space structure? or a Hilbert bundle structure? In order to provide conditions to guarantee a positive answer for these questions, we develop an interesting formula to derivate functions defined on $N$ as a integral over $M_\lambda$.

Abstract:We consider the curvature strict positivity of the direct image bundle associated to a pseudoconvex family of bounded domains. The main result is that the curvature of the direct image bundle associated to a strictly pseudoconvex family of bounded circular domains or Reinhardut domains are strictly positive in the sense of Nakano, even if the weight functions are not strictly plurisubharmonic. This result gives a new geometric insight about the property of strict pseudoconvexity, and has some applications in complex analysis and convex analysis. We investigate that the main result implies a remarkable result of Berndtsson which states that, for an ample vector bundle $E$ over a compact complex manifold $X$ and any $k\geq 0$, the bundle $S^kE\otimes\det E$ admits a Hermitian metric whose curvature is strictly positive in the sense of Nakano, where $S^kE$ is the $k$-th symmetric product of $E$. The two main ingredients in the argument of the main theorems are Berndtsson's estimate of the lower bound of curvature of direct image bundles and Deng-Ning-Wang-Zhou's characterization of the curvature Nakano positivity of Hermitian vector bundles in terms of $L^2$-estimate of $\bar\partial$.

Let $D$ be a divisor on $X$ and $E$ its pullback on $Y$. Under mild conditions the linear space associated with $E$ is a free ${\mathbf K}[G]$-module. Abstract: Let $M$ be a closed $n-$dimensional complex submanifold in ${\mathbb C}^N$ and $g$ the complete K\"ahler metric induced by the Euclidean metric. Let $\rho$ denote the restriction of $|z|$ on $M$. We obtain several finiteness and infiniteness theorems about the $L^p$ Bergman space $H^0_{L^p} (M,L)$ of holomorphic sections of a Hermitian line bundle $L$ over $M$. We prove that if the trace of the curvature of $L$ with respect to $g$ is asympototically bounded above by $\alpha/\rho^2$ then $H^0_{L^p} (M,L)$ is finite-dimensional for any $0<p<2n(n-1)/\alpha$. We also show that all $L^p$ plurigenera are finite for smooth affine-algebraic varieties. On the other hand, we show that $H^0_{L^2} (M,K_M \otimes L)$ is infinite-dimensional whenever $L$ is semipositive and the curvature of $L$ is asympototically bounded below by $\alpha\cdot \omega_g/\rho^2$ for some $\alpha>4n$, and for the graph of a transcendental entire function in $\mathbb C$ the $3-$th $L^2$ plurigenus is always infinite. Several applications concerning growth of Ricci/scalar curvature of $M$ are given.

Abstract:We study transverse equivariant Hilbert schemes of affine hypertoric varieties equipped with a symplectic action of a Weyl group. In particular, we show that the Coulomb branches of Braverman, Finkelberg, and Nakajima can be obtained either as such Hilbert schemes or Hamiltonian reductions thereof. Furthermore, we propose that the Coulomb branches for representations of non-cotangent type are also obtained in this way. We also investigate the putative complete hyperkähler metrics on these objects. We describe their twistor spaces and, in the case when the symplectic quotient construction of the hypertoric variety is $W$-equivariant (which includes Coulomb branches of cotangent type), we show that the hyperkähler metric can be described as the natural $L^2$-metric on a moduli space of solutions to modified Nahm's equations on an interval with poles at both ends and a discontinuity in the middle, with the latter described by a new object: a hyperspherical variety canonically associated to a hypertoric variety.

On Harder-Narasimhan slopes of direct images

Abstract:For a polarized family of complex projective manifolds, we study the asymptotic distribution of Harder-Narasimhan slopes of direct image sheaves associated with high tensor powers of the polarization. We establish a theorem of Mehta-Ramanathan type, showing that this asymptotic distribution can be recovered from the analogous asymptotic distributions associated with base changes of the family over generic curves.

The geometry of double nested Hilbert schemes of points on curves

Abstract:Let $C$ be a smooth curve. In this paper we investigate the geometric properties of the double nested Hilbert scheme of points on $C$, a moduli space introduced by the third author in the context of BPS invariants of local curves and sheaf counting on Calabi-Yau 3-folds. We prove this moduli space is connected, reduced and of pure dimension; we list its components via an explicit combinatorial characterisation and we show they can be resolved, when singular, by products of symmetric products of $C$. We achieve this via a purely algebraic analysis of the factorisation properties of the monoid of reverse plane partitions. We discuss the (virtual) fundamental class of the moduli space, we describe the local equations cutting it inside a smooth ambient space, and finally we provide a closed formula for its motivic class in the Grothendieck ring of varieties.

Abstract:Let M be a closed complex submanifold in ℂ^N with the complete Kähler metric induced by the Euclidean metric. Several finiteness theorems on the L^p Bergman space of holomorphic sections of a given Hermitian line bundle L over M and the associated L^2 cohomology groups are obtained. Some infiniteness theorems are also given in order to test the accuracy of finiteness theorems. As applications we obtain some rigidity results concerning growth of curvatures.
Curved $\infty$-Local Systems And Projectively Flat Riemann-Hilbert Correspondence

Abstract:We generalize the higher Riemann-Hilbert correspondence in the presence of scalar curvature for a (possibly non-compact) smooth manifold $M$. We show that the dg-category of curved $\infty$-local systems, the dg-category of graded vector bundles with projectively flat $\mathbb Z$-graded connections and the dg-category of curved representations of the singular simplicial set of the based loop space of $M$ are all $A_\infty$-quasi equivalent. They provide dg-enhancements of the subcategory of the bounded derived category of twisted sheaves whose cohomology sheaves are locally constant and have finite-dimensional fibers. In the ungraded case, we reduce to an equivalence between projectively flat vector bundles and a subcategory of projective representations of $\pi_1(M; x_0)$. As an application of our general framework, we also prove that the category of cohesive modules over the curved Dolbeault algebra of a complex manifold $X$ is equivalent to a subcategory of the bounded derived category of twisted sheaves of $\mathcal O_X$-modules which generalizes a theorem due to Block to possibly non-compact complex manifolds.

Scanning the moduli of smooth hypersurfaces

Abstract:We study the locus of smooth hypersurfaces inside the Hilbert scheme of a smooth projective complex variety. In the spirit of scanning, we construct a map to a continuous section space of a projective bundle, and show that it induces an isomorphism in integral homology in a range of degrees growing with the ampleness of the hypersurfaces. When the ambient variety is a curve, this recovers a result of McDuff about configuration spaces. We compute the rational cohomology of the section space and exhibit a phenomenon of homological stability for hypersurfaces with first Chern class going to infinity. For simply connected varieties, the rational cohomology is shown to agree with the stable cohomology of a moduli space of hypersurfaces, with a peculiar tangential structure, as studied by Galatius and Randal-Williams.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a connected, compact complex manifold and $S\subset X$ a separating real hypersurface, so that $X$ decomposes as a union of compact complex manifolds with boundary $\bar X^\pm$. Let $\mathcal{M}$ be the moduli space of $S$-framed holomorphic bundles, i.e. of pairs $(E,\theta)$ of fixed topological type consisting of a holomorphic bundle $E$ on $X$ and a trivialization $\theta$ - belonging to a fixed Hölder regularity class $\mathcal{C}^{\kappa+1}$ - of its restriction to $S$. The restrictions to $\bar X^\pm$ of an $S$-framed holomorphic bundle $(E,\theta)$ are boundary framed formally holomorphic bundles $(E^\pm,\theta^\pm)$ which induce, via $\theta^\pm$, the same tangential Cauchy-Riemann operators on the trivial bundle on $S$, so one obtains a natural map from $\mathcal{M}$ into the fiber product $\mathcal{M}^-\times_\mathcal{C}\mathcal{M}^+$ over the space $\mathcal{C}$ of Cauchy-Riemann operators on the trivial bundle on $S$. Our main result states: this map is a homeomorphism for $\kappa\in (0,\infty]\setminus\mathbb{N}$. The proof is based on a gluing principle for formally holomorphic bundles along a real hypersurface. This principle can also be used to give a complex geometric interpretation of the space of solutions of a large class of Riemann-Hilbert type problems. The results generalize in two directions: first one can replace the decomposition associated with a separating hypersurface by the the manifold with boundary $\widehat X_S$ obtained by cutting $X$ along any oriented hypersurface $S$. Second one can consider principal $G$ bundles for an arbitrary complex Lie group $G$. We give explicit examples of moduli spaces of (boundary) framed holomorphic bundles and explicit formulae for the homeomorphisms provided by the general results.

Abstract:We prove that there exist Kähler manifolds that are not homotopy equivalent to a quotient of complex hyperbolic space but which admit a Riemannian metric with nonpositive curvature operator. This shows that Kähler manifolds do not satisfy the same type of rigidity with respect to the curvature operator as quaternionic hyperbolic and Cayley hyperbolic manifolds and are thus more similar to real hyperbolic manifolds in this setting. Along the way we also calculate explicit values for the eigenvalues of the curvature operator with respect to the standard complex hyperbolic metric.
