Abstract: We describe the proof that the period map from the Torelli space of Calabi-Yau manifolds to the classifying space of polarized Hodge structures is an embedding. The proof is based on the constructions of holomorphic affine structure on the Teichm\"uller space and Hodge metric completion of the Torelli space. A canonical global holomorphic section of the holomorphic $(n, 0)$ class on the Teichm\"uller space is constructed.

Abstract:We prove a sort of reconstruction theorem for generic elliptic Calabi-Yau $3$-folds in the sense of Căldăraru. From our argument it follows that two generic elliptic Calabi-Yau $3$-folds are derived-equivalent linear over the base if and only if their generic fibers are derived-equivalent. As an application, we give affirmative answers to the conjectures raised by Knapp-Scheidegger-Schimannek. Namely, for each pair of elliptic Calabi-Yau $3$-folds in their list we prove that they share the relative Jacobian and are $P^2$-linear derived-equivalent.

Abstract:We investigate topological properties of Calabi-Yau four-folds and consider a wide class of explicit constructions in weighted projective spaces and, more generally, toric varieties. Divisors which lead to a non-perturbative superpotential in the effective theory have a very simple description in the toric construction. Relevant properties of them follow just by counting lattice points and can also be used to construct examples with negative Euler number. We study nets of transitions between cases with generically smooth elliptic fibres and cases with ADE gauge symmetries in the N = 1 theory due to degenerations of the fibre over codimension one loci in the base. Finally we investigate the quantum cohomology ring of this four-folds using Frobenius algebra.

Abstract:We realize higher-form symmetries in F-theory compactifications on non-compact elliptically fibered Calabi-Yau manifolds. Central to this endeavour is the topology of the boundary of the non-compact elliptic fibration, as well as the explicit construction of relative 2-cycles in terms of Lefschetz thimbles. We apply the analysis to a variety of elliptic fibrations, including geometries where the discriminant of the elliptic fibration intersects the boundary. We provide a concrete realization of the 1-form symmetry group by constructing the associated charged line operator from the elliptic fibration. As an application we compute the symmetry topological field theories in the case of elliptic three-folds, which correspond to mixed anomalies in 5d and 6d theories.

Charting the Complex Structure Landscape of F-theory

Abstract:We explore the landscape of F-theory compactifications on Calabi--Yau fourfolds whose complex structure moduli space is the thrice-punctured sphere. As a first part, we enumerate all such Calabi--Yau fourfolds under the additional requirement that it has a large complex structure and conifold point at two of the punctures. We find 14 monodromy tuples by demanding the monodromy around infinity to be quasi-unipotent. As second part, we study the four different types of phases arising at infinity. For each we consider a working example where we determine the leading periods and other physical couplings. We also included a notebook that sets up the period vectors for any of these models.

Abstract:A bstract In this paper, we initiate the study of the 2d F-theory landscape based on compact elliptic Calabi-Yau fivefolds. In particular, we determine the boundary models of the landscape using Calabi-Yau fivefolds with the largest known Hodge numbers h 1 , 1 and h 4 , 1 . The former gives rise to the largest geometric gauge group in the currently known 2d (0,2) supergravity landscape, which is $$ {E}_8^{482\;632\;421}\times {F}_4^{3\;224\;195\;728}\times {G}_2^{11\;927\;989\;964}\times \mathrm{SU}{(2)}^{25\;625\;222\;180} $$ E 8 482 632 421 × F 4 3 224 195 728 × G 2 11 927 989 964 × SU 2 25 625 222 180 . Besides that, we systematically study the hypersurfaces in weighted projective spaces with small degrees, and check the gravitational anomaly cancellation. Moreover, we also initiate the study of singular bases in 2d F-theory. We find that orbifold singularities on the base fourfold have non-zero contributions to the gravitational anomaly.

Abstract:In this paper the elliptic genus for a general Calabi-Yau fourfold is derived. The recent work of Kawai calculating N=2 heterotic string one-loop threshold corrections with a Wilson line turned on is extended to a similar computation where K3 is replaced by a general Calabi-Yau 3- or 4-fold. In all cases there seems to be a generalized Kac-Moody algebra involved, whose denominator formula appears in the result.

Abstract:We first develop theories of differential rings of quasi-Siegel modular andquasi-Siegel Jacobi forms for genus two. Then we apply them to theEynard-Orantin topological recursion of certain local Calabi-Yau threefoldsequipped with branes, whose mirror curves are genus two hyperelliptic curves.By the proof of the Remodeling Conjecture, we prove that the correspondingopen- and closed- Gromov-Witten potentials are essentially quasi-Siegel Jacobiand quasi-Siegel modular forms for genus two, respectively.

Abstract:Let $Y_d$ be a del Pezzo threefold of Picard rank one and degree $d\geq 2$. In this paper, we apply two different viewpoints to study $Y_d$ via a particular admissible subcategory of its bounded derived category, called the Kuznetsov component: (i) Brill-Noether reconstruction. We show that $Y_d$ can be uniquely recovered as a Brill-Noether locus of Bridgeland stable objects in its Kuznetsov component. (ii) Exact equivalences. We prove that, up to composing with an explicit auto-equivalence, any Fourier-Mukai type equivalence of Kuznetsov components of two del Pezzo threefolds of degree $2\leq d\leq 4$ can be lifted to an equivalence of their bounded derived categories. As a result, we obtain a complete description of the group of Fourier-Mukai type auto-equivalences of the Kuznetsov component of $Y_d$. We also describe the group of Fourier-Mukai type auto-equivalences of Kuznetsov components of index one prime Fano threefolds $X_{2g-2}$ of genus $g=6$ and $8$. As an application, first we identify the group of automorphisms of $X_{14}$ and its associated $Y_3$. Then we give a new disproof of Kuznetsov's Fano threefold conjecture by assuming Gushel-Mukai threefolds are general. In an appendix, we classify instanton sheaves on quartic double solids, generalizing a result of Druel.

Abstract:We give a proof of Mukai's Theorem on the existence of certain exceptional vector bundles on prime Fano threefolds. To our knowledge this is the first complete proof in the literature. The result is essential for Mukai's biregular classification of prime Fano threefolds, and for the existence of semiorthogonal decompositions in their derived categories.

Abstract:We enumerate topologically-inequivalent compact Calabi-Yau threefold hypersurfaces. By computing arithmetic and algebraic invariants and the Gopakumar-Vafa invariants of curves, we prove that the number of distinct simply connected Calabi-Yau threefold hypersurfaces resulting from triangulations of four-dimensional reflexive polytopes is 4, 27, 183, 1,184 and 8,036 at $h^{1,1}$ = 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, respectively. We also establish that there are ten equivalence classes of Wall data of non-simply connected Calabi-Yau threefolds from the Kreuzer-Skarke list. Finally, we give a provisional count of threefolds obtained by enumerating non-toric flops at $h^{1,1} =2$.

Abstract:For a d-Calabi-Yau triangulated category C with a d-cluster tilting subcategory T, the decomposition of C is determined by the decomposition of T satisfying 'vanishing condition' of negative extension groups, namely, C=circle plus C-i is an element of I(i), where C-i, i is an element of I, are triangulated subcategories, if and only if T=circle plus T-i is an element of I(i), where T-i, i is an element of I, are subcategories with Hom(C)(T-i[t], T-j)=0, for all 0 < t < d-2 and i not equal j. This induces that for any two cluster tilting objects T and T' in a 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated category C, the Gabriel quiver of the endomorphism algebra End(C)T is connected if and only if so is that of End(C)T'. As an application, we prove that the indecomposable 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated categories with cluster tilting objects have no non-trivial t-structures and no non-trivial co-t-structures. This allows us to give a classification of torsion pairs in those triangulated categories, and to determine further the hearts of torsion pairs in the sense of Nakaoka, which are equivalent to the module categories over the endomorphism algebras of the cores of the torsion pairs. We also discuss the relationship between mutations of torsion pairs and mutations of cluster tilting objects.

Abstract:We show that an abelian fibered Calabi-Yau threefold with a positive entropy automorphism preserving the fibration is unique up to isomorphisms as fibered varieties. We also give a fairly explicit structure theorem of an elliptically fibered Calabi-Yau threefold with a positive entropy automorphism preserving the fibration.
