Abstract:We develop the intersection theory of non-archimedean analytic spaces and prove the projection formula and the GAGA principle. As an application, we naturally define the category of finite correspondences of analytic spaces.

Abstract:Let $K$ be a nonarchimedean local field of characteristic zero with valuation ring $R$, for instance, $K=\mathbb{Q}_p$ and $R=\mathbb{Z}_p$. We prove a general integral geometric formula for $K$-analytic groups and homogeneous $K$-analytic spaces, analogous to the corresponding result over the reals. This generalizes the $p$-adic integral geometric formula for projective spaces recently discovered by Kulkarni and Lerario, e.g., to the setting of Grassmannians. Based on this, we outline the construction of a nonarchimedean probabilistic Schubert Calculus. For this purpose, we characterize the relative position of two subspaces of $K^n$ by a position vector, a nonarchimedean analogue of the notion of principal angles, and we study the probability distribution of the position vector for random uniform subspaces. We then use this to compute the volume of special Schubert varieties over $K$. As a second application of the general integral geometry formula, we initiate the study of random fewnomial systems over nonarchimedean fields, bounding, and in some cases exactly determining, the expected number of zeros of such random systems.

Abstract:Yuan and Zhang introduced arithmetic intersection numbers for adelic line bundles on quasi-projective varieties over a number field. Burgos and Kramer generalized this approach allowing more singular metrics at archimedean places. We introduce abstract divisorial spaces as a tool to generalize these arithmetic intersection numbers to the setting of a proper adelic base curve in the sense of Chen and Moriwaki. We also allow more singular metrics at non-archimedean places using relative mixed energy there as well.

Abstract:We propose a derived version of non-archimedean analytic geometry. Intuitively, a derived non-archimedean analytic space consists of an ordinary non-archimedean analytic space equipped with a sheaf of derived rings. Such a naive definition turns out to be insufficient. In this paper, we resort to the theory of pregeometries and structured topoi introduced by Jacob Lurie. We prove the following three fundamental properties of derived non-archimedean analytic spaces:The category of ordinary non-archimedean analytic spaces embeds fully faithfully into the ∞$$\infty $$-category of derived non-archimedean analytic spaces.The ∞$$\infty $$-category of derived non-archimedean analytic spaces admits fiber products.The ∞$$\infty $$-category of higher non-archimedean analytic Deligne–Mumford stacks embeds fully faithfully into the ∞$$\infty $$-category of derived non-archimedean analytic spaces. The essential image of this embedding is spanned by n-localic discrete derived non-archimedean analytic spaces. We will further develop the theory of derived non-archimedean analytic geometry in our subsequent works. Our motivations mainly come from intersection theory, enumerative geometry and mirror symmetry.
Intersection theory and Chern classes on normal varieties

Abstract:We study intersection theory and Chern classes of reflexive sheaves on normal varieties. In particular, we define generalization of Mumford's intersection theory on normal surfaces to higher dimensions. We also define and study the second Chern class for reflexive sheaves on normal varieties. We use these results to prove some Bogomolov type inequalities on normal varieties in positive characteristic. We also prove some new boundedness results on normal varieties in positive characteristic.

On projective spaces over local fields

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{P}$ be the set of points of a finite-dimensional projective space over a local field $F$, endowed with the topology $\tau$ naturally induced from the canonical topology of $F$. Intuitively, continuous incidence abelian group structures on $\mathcal{P}$ are abelian group structures on $\mathcal{P}$ preserving both the topology $\tau$ and the incidence of lines with points. We show that the real projective line is the only finite-dimensional projective space over an Archimedean local field which admits a continuous incidence abelian group structure. The latter is unique up to isomorphism of topological groups. In contrast, in the non-Archimedean case we construct continuous incidence abelian group structures in any dimension $n \in \mathbb{N}$. We show that if $n>1$ and the characteristic of $F$ does not divide $n+1$, then there are finitely many possibilities up to topological isomorphism and, in any case, countably many.

Abstract:Communications in Contemporary Mathematics, Ahead of Print. We construct an extension of the classical de Rham theory on spaces with isolated singularities, that we call intersection de Rham theory. The construction is based on the definition of some closed extension of the exterior differentiation operator on (distributional) forms, based on the introduction of some boundary conditions at the singular point. We prove that the cohomology of the associated Hilbert complex, that we call intersection de Rham complex, is naturally isomorphic to the combinatorial intersection cohomology of Goresky and MacPherson.

Abstract:Chow rings of toric varieties, which originate in intersection theory, feature a rich combinatorial structure of independent interest. We survey four different ways of computing in these rings, due to Billera, Brion, Fulton--Sturmfels, and Allermann--Rau. We illustrate the beauty and power of these methods by giving four proofs of Huh and Huh--Katz's formula $\mu^k(M) = deg_M(\alpha^{r-k} \beta^k)$ for the coefficients of the reduced characteristic polynomial of a matroid $M$ as the mixed intersection numbers of the hyperplane and reciprocal hyperplane classes $\alpha$ and $\beta$ in the Chow ring of $M$. Each of these proofs sheds light on a different aspect of matroid combinatorics, and provides a framework for further developments in the intersection theory of matroids. Our presentation is combinatorial, and does not assume previous knowledge of toric varieties, Chow rings, or intersection theory.

Abstract:Feng-Yun-Zhang have proved a function field analogue of the arithmetic Siegel-Weil formula, relating special cycles on moduli spaces of unitary shtukas to higher derivatives of Eisenstein series. We prove an extension of this formula in a low-dimensional case, and deduce from it a Gross-Zagier style formula expressing intersection multiplicities of cycles in terms of higher derivatives of base-change $L$-functions.

Abstract:We apply methods of derived and non-commutative algebraic geometry to understand intersection theoretic phenomena on arithmetic schemes. Specifically, we categorify Bloch's intersection number (in the formulation provided by Kato--Saito). Combining this with Toën--Vezzosi's non-commutative Chern character, we obtain a generalization of Bloch conductor conjecture in several new cases, including the unipotent Deligne--Milnor formula.

Abstract:We explore the applications of Lorentzian polynomials to the fields of algebraic geometry, analytic geometry and convex geometry. In particular, we establish a series of intersection theoretic inequalities, which we call rKT property, with respect to $m$-positive classes and Schur classes. We also study its convexity variants -- the geometric inequalities for $m$-convex functions on the sphere and convex bodies. Along the exploration, we prove that any finite subset on the closure of the cone generated by $m$-positive classes can be endowed with a polymatroid structure by a canonical numerical-dimension type function, extending our previous result for nef classes; and we prove Alexandrov-Fenchel inequalities for valuations of Schur type. We also establish various analogs of sumset estimates (Plünnecke-Ruzsa inequalities) from additive combinatorics in our contexts.

Abstract:Polymatroids are combinatorial abstractions of subspace arrangements in the same way that matroids are combinatorial abstractions of hyperplane arrangements. By introducing augmented Chow rings of polymatroids, modeled after augmented wonderful varieties of subspace arrangements, we generalize several algebro-geometric techniques developed in recent years to study matroids. We show that intersection numbers in the augmented Chow ring of a polymatroid are determined by a matching property known as the Hall--Rado condition, which is new even in the case of matroids.

Abstract:We constructed new theories on homology of Berkovich's analytic space and integration of an overconvergent differential form along a cycle in the sense of the homology. The new homology satisfies good properties such as what is called the axiom of homology theory, and has the canonical Galois action. The new integration is an extention of Shnirel'man integral, which is the classical integration of an analytic function on the non-Archimedean affine line, and it gives Fontain's p-adic periods for Tate curves.

Abstract:This paper continues studies of non-intersection properties of finite collections of sets initiated 40 years ago by the extremal principle. We study elementary non-intersection properties of collections of sets, making the core of the conventional definitions of extremality and stationarity. In the setting of general Banach/Asplund spaces, we establish new primal (slope) and dual (generalized separation) necessary conditions for these non-intersection properties. The results are applied to convergence analysis of alternating projections.

Abstract:Let A be a commutative noetherian local DG-ring with bounded cohomology. The Intersection Theorem for DG-modules is examined and some of its applications are provided. The first is to prove the DG-setting of the amplitude inequality, New Intersection Theorem and Krull's principle ideal theorem. The second is to solve completely the Minamoto's conjecture in [Israel J. Math. 242 (2021) 1-36]. The third is to show the DG-version of the Bass conjecture about Cohen-Macaulay rings and the Vasconcelos conjecture about Gorenstein rings.
