Abstract:We study the local structure of vector fields on $\mathbb{R}^3$ which preserve the Martinet $1$-form $\alpha=(1+x)dy\pm zdz$. We present the classification of their singularities, up to diffeomorphisms preserving the form $\alpha$, as well as their transversal unfoldings. We are thus able to provide a fairly complete list of the bifurcations such vector fields undergo.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to study the local structure of vector fields that preserve the Martinet 1 - form \(\alpha=(1 + x)dy\pm zdz\) in the three - dimensional space \(\mathbb{R}^3\), especially the singularity classification of these vector fields and their transverse unfoldings. Specifically, the goals of the paper include: 1. **Singularity Classification**: Classify the singularities of vector fields that preserve the Martinet 1 - form up to diffeomorphisms that preserve this form. 2. **Transverse Unfolding**: Study the transverse unfoldings of these singularities, thereby providing a complete list of the bifurcation phenomena that these vector fields may experience. ### Main Contents of the Paper #### 1. Introduction The paper first introduces the research background, that is, the importance of singularity classification and bifurcation analysis of vector fields that remain invariant under specific structures (such as symplectic structures, volume forms, symmetries, etc.). In particular, the author focuses on the local classification of vector fields that preserve the Martinet 1 - form \(\alpha\) on \(\mathbb{R}^3\). #### 2. Vector Fields Preserving the Martinet Form The author defines \(X(\mathbb{R}^3,\alpha)\) as smooth vector fields \(X\) at the origin, and these vector fields satisfy the Lie derivative condition \(L_X\alpha = 0\). By studying this condition, the author obtains the general form of these vector fields and simplifies them to vector fields \(X(\mathbb{R}^2,\mu)\) on a two - dimensional plane, where \(\mu=(1 + x)dy\). #### 3. Local Normal Forms of Vector Fields Preserving the \(\mu\) - form Using the local classification theorem of one - dimensional vector fields, the author gives the local normal forms of vector fields that preserve the \(\mu\) - form. These normal forms include: - Two types of regular points: \(X_0=a\frac{\partial}{\partial y}\) and \(X_1=-a(1 + x)\frac{\partial}{\partial x}+ay\frac{\partial}{\partial y}\). - The normal form of a degenerate singularity: \(X_k=-(1 + x)(aky^{k - 1}+d(2k - 1)y^{2k - 2})\frac{\partial}{\partial x}+(ay^k+dy^{2k - 1})\frac{\partial}{\partial y}\). #### 4. Bifurcations of Vector Fields Preserving the \(\mu\) - form The author studies the bifurcation phenomena of these vector fields, especially by constructing the universal unfoldings of these normal forms to describe the bifurcations. For example, for the universal unfolding \(F_2\) of \(X_2\), the author shows the phase diagrams for different parameter values, revealing the behavioral changes of the system as the parameters change. ### Conclusion The paper successfully performs a local classification of vector fields that preserve the Martinet 1 - form and studies their bifurcation phenomena. These results lay the foundation for further research on the local and global properties of dynamical systems that preserve specific 1 - forms.
