Abstract:Let and denote the cyclic group and the generalized quaternion group of order n , respectively. We determine all possible values of the integer group determinants of and , which are the unresolved groups of order 16 (Serrano, Paudel and Pinner also obtained a complete description of the integer group determinants of independently of this paper and presented it a few days earlier than this paper). Also, we give a diagram of the set inclusion relations between the integer group determinants for all groups of order 16

Abstract:Olga Taussky-Todd suggested the problem of determining the possible values of integer circulant determinants. To solve a special case of the problem, Laquer gave a factorization of circulant determinants. In this paper, we give a modest generalization of Laquer's theorem. Also, we give an application of the generalization to integer group determinants.

Abstract:We obtain a complete description of the integer group determinants for SmallGroup(16,8), the semidihedral group of order 16. While this paper was in preparation, a complete descriptions for this group was independently obtained by Yuka Yamaguchi and Naoya Yamaguchi in [21] (and the other remaining group of order 16 in [20]). We offer our version here for anyone interested in a slightly different approach.

Abstract:While there is not much publications, about degree sixteen Diophantine equation we do have an identity given by Ramanujan (ref. #1). Also on the internet even though there are numerical solutions to degree sixteen for eg. (16-7-24) equation (ref. #5) there are hardly any parametric solutions. An Octic degree parameterization has been arrived at by Choudhry & Zagar (ref. 2). The authors have given a parametric solution to the equation (a^4-b^4)(c^4-d^4)(e^8-f^8)=(u^4-v^4)(w^4-x^4)(y^8-z^8). We have also given numerical solution but because of the high degree (sixteen) of the equation we only get a minimum integer value for the variables at more than five digits. We have also given some new identities related to degree four & eight.

Abstract:We obtain a complete description of the integer group determinants for SmallGroup(16,13), the central product of the dihedral group of order eight and cyclic group of order four. These values are the same as the integer group determinants for SmallGroup(16,11), the direct product of the dihedral group of order eight and cyclic group of order two. It was not previously known that the integer group determinants do not determine the group.

Abstract:Munarini (J Integer Seq 23: Article 20.3.8, 2020) recently showed that the derangement polynomial is expressible as the determinant of either an tridiagonal matrix or an lower Hessenberg matrix. Qi et al. (Cogent Math 3:1232878, 2016) showed that the classical derangement number is expressible as a tridiagonal determinant of order . We show in this work that similar determinantal expressions exist for the type B derangement polynomial studied previously by Chow (Sém Lothar Combin 55:B55b, 2006), and the type D derangement polynomial studied recently by Chow (Taiwanese J Math 27(4):629–646, 2023). Representations of the types B and D derangement numbers and as determinants of order are also presented.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct countably many isolated circular orders on the free products $G = F_{2n} \ast \mathbb{Z}_{m_1} \ast \cdots \ast \mathbb{Z}_{m_k}$ of cyclic groups. Moreover, we prove that these isolated circular orders are not the automorphic images of the others. By using these isolated circular orders, we also construct countably many isolated left orders on a certain central $\mathbb{Z}$-extension of $G$, which are not the automorphic images of the others.

Abstract:In this study, we consider Kn := circ (GN1,GN2,...,GNn) circulant matrices whose entries are the Gaussian Nickel Fibonacci numbers GN1,GN2,...,GNn. Then, we compute determinants of Kn by exploiting Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind. Moreover, we obtain Cassini?s identity and the D?Ocagne identity for the Gaussian Nickel Fibonacci numbers.

Abstract:The canonical double cover $B(X)$ of a graph $X$ is the direct product of $X$ and $K_2$. If $Aut(B(X)) \cong Aut(X) \times \mathbb{Z}_2$ then $X$ is called stable; otherwise $X$ is called unstable. An unstable graph is nontrivially unstable if it is connected, non-bipartite and distinct vertices have different neighborhoods. Circulant is a Cayley graph on a cyclic group. Qin et al. conjectured in [J. Combin. Theory Ser. B 136 (2019), 154-169] that there are no nontrivialy unstable circulants of odd order. In this paper we prove this conjecture.

Abstract:Let $O$ be an order of odd discriminant $D$ in an imaginary quadratic field $K$. Let $Cl(O)$ be the group of proper $O$-ideals and $Cl(O)[2]$ the kernel of multiplication by $2$ in $Cl(O)$. We describe explicitly the group $Cl(O)[2]$. In particular, we prove that its order is $2^{s_D-1}$ where $s_D$ is the number of prime divisors of $D$.

Abstract:This paper, makes a research on relations between the cyclotomic classes, Gaussian periods and rcirculant matrices, and create a correspondence between Gaussian periods and rcirculant matrices. It paraphrases Gaussian periods with a series of special rcirculant matrices Hk, and shows that they have some similar properties, such as the linear property of multiplication etc. Furthermore, It researches Gaussian periods polynomials of Hk and their inverse symmetry property and obtains that all Hk have the same characteristics and the same eigenvalues which are independent of the choice of k amd r; and find the sufficient and necessary condition of Hk's having the inverse symmetry property. All these results are all meaningful.

Abstract:In this paper, we study arithmetic properties of certain determinants involving powers of $i^2+cij+dj^2$, where $c$ and $d$ are integers. For example, for any odd integer $n>1$ with $(\frac dn)=-1$ we prove that $\det [ (\frac{i^2+cij+dj^2}{n})]_{0\le i,j\le n-1}$ is divisible by $\varphi(n)^2$, where $(\frac{\cdot}{n})$ is the Jacobi symbol and $\varphi$ is Euler's totient function. This confirms a previous conjecture of the second author.

Abstract:We give a classification and complete algebraic description of groups allowing only finitely many (left multiplication invariant) circular orders. In particular, they are all solvable groups with a specific semi-direct product decomposition. This allows us to also show that the space of circular orders of any group is either finite or uncountable. As a special case and first step, we show that the space of circular orderings of an infinite Abelian group has no isolated points, hence is homeomorphic to a cantor set.

Abstract:We investigate the order of the Tate--Shafarevich group of abelian varieties modulo rational squares. Our main result shows that every square-free natural number appears as the non square-free part of the Tate--Shafarevich group of some abelian variety, thereby validating a conjecture of W. Stein.

Abstract:A classification of Hadamard matrices of order $2p+2$ with an automorphism of order $p$ is given for $p=29$ and $31$. The ternary self-dual codes spanned by the newly found Hadamard matrices of order 60 with an automorphism of order 29 are computed, as well as the binary doubly even self-dual codes of length 120 with generator matrices defined by related Hadamard designs. Several new ternary near-extremal self-dual codes, as well as binary near-extremal doubly even self-dual codes with previously unknown weight enumerators are found.
