Abstract:We prove an analog of the virtual localization theorem of Graber-Pandharipande, in the setting of an action by the normalizer of the torus in $\text{SL}_2$, and with the Chow groups replaced by the cohomology of a suitably twisted sheaf of Witt groups.

Abstract:Let $T$ be a split torus acting on an algebraic scheme $X$ with fixed locus $Z$. Edidin and Graham showed that on localized $T$-equivariant Chow groups, (a) push-forward $i_*$ along $i : Z \to X$ is an isomorphism, and (b) when $X$ is smooth the inverse $(i_*)^{-1}$ can be described via Gysin pullback $i^!$ and cap product with $e(N)^{-1}$, the inverse of the Euler class of the normal bundle $N$. In this paper we show that (b) still holds when $X$ is a quasi-smooth derived scheme (or Deligne-Mumford stack), using virtual versions of the operations $i^!$ and $(-)\cap e(N)^{-1}$. As a corollary we prove the virtual localization formula $[X]^{vir} = i_* ([Z]^{vir} \cap e(N^{vir})^{-1})$ of Graber-Pandharipande without global resolution hypotheses and over arbitrary base fields. We include an appendix on fixed loci of group actions on (derived) stacks which should be of independent interest.

Atiyah-Bott localization in equivariant Witt cohomology

Abstract:Let $N$ be a normalizer of the diagonal torus $T_1\cong \mathbb{G}_m$ in $\text{SL}_2$. We prove localization theorems for $\text{SL}_2^n$ and $N^n$ for equivariant cohomology with coefficients in the (twisted) Witt sheaf, along the lines of the classical Atiyah-Bott localization theorems for equivariant cohomology for a torus action. We also have an analog of the Bott residue formula for $\text{SL}_2^n$ and $N$. In the case of an $\text{SL}_2^n$-action, there is a rather serious restriction on the orbit type. For an $N$-action, there is no restriction for the localization result, but for the Bott residue theorem, one requires a certain type of decomposition of the fixed points for the $T_1$-action.

Abstract:We describe the applications of localization methods, in particular the functorial localization formula, in the proofs of several conjectures from string theory. Functorial localization formula pushes the computations on complicated moduli spaces to simple moduli spaces. It is a key technique in the proof of the general mirror formulas, the proof of the Hori-Vafa formulas for explicit expressions of basic hypergeometric series of homogeneous manifolds, the proof of the Marino-Vafa formula, its generalizations to two partition analogue. We will also discuss our development of the mathematical theory of topological vertex and simple localization proofs of the ELSV formula and Witten conjecture.
Virtual Localisation Formula for $ SL_η $-Oriented Theories

Abstract:In this paper, we extend the Virtual Localization Formula of Levine to a wide class of motivic ring spectra, obtaining in particular a localization formula for virtual fundamental classes in Witt theory $ \mathrm{KW} $. Applying standard tools of $\mathbb A^1$-intersection theory to any $ SL_{\eta} $-oriented spectra $ \mathrm A $, we obtain an additive presentation of $ \mathrm A(BN) $, for $ N $ the normaliser of the torus in $ SL_2 $. Then we establish an equivariant Atiyah-Bott localization theorem for $ \mathrm A_N^{\mathrm{BM}}(X) $ and we conclude with the $N$-equivariant virtual localisation formula. Of independent interest, we also describe the ring structure of $ \mathrm{KW}(BN) $.

Abstract:We use an equivariant version of the localization formula of Jeffrey and Kirwan to prove a formula for virtual invariants $(\text{DT}$, $\chi_y$, $\text{Ell})$ of critical loci in quotients of linear spaces by actions of reductive algebraic groups. In particular we recover formulae for the invariants of critical loci of potentials in moduli spaces of quiver representations predicted by physicists.

Abstract:We study a system of nonlinear elliptic PDEs associated with a quasi-homogeneous polynomial. These equations were proposed by Witten as the replacement in the Landau-Ginzburg/singularity setting for the Cauchy-Riemann equation. We introduce a perturbation to the equation and construct a virtual cycle for the moduli space of its solutions. Then, we study the wall-crossing of the deformation of the perturbation and match it to classical Picard-Lefschetz theory. An extended virtual cycle is obtained for the original equation. Finally we prove that the extended virtual cycle satisfies a set of axioms similar to those of Gromov-Witten theory and $r$-spin theory.

Abstract:In this paper we prove a toric localization formula in cohomological Donaldson Thomas theory. Consider a -1-shifted symplectic algebraic space with a C* action leaving the -1-shifted symplectic form invariant. This includes the moduli space of stable sheaves or complexes of sheaves on a Calabi-Yau threefold with a C*-invariant Calabi-Yau form, or the intersection of two C*-invariant Lagrangians in a symplectic space with a C*-invariant symplectic form. In this case we express the restriction of the Donaldson-Thomas perverse sheaf (or monodromic mixed Hodge module) defined by Joyce et al. to the attracting variety as a sum of cohomological shifts of the DT perverse sheaves on the C* fixed components. This result can be seen as a -1-shifted version of the Bialynicki-Birula decomposition for smooth schemes.

Abstract:Let $R$ be a quiver Hecke algebra, and let $\mathcal{C}_{w,v}$ be the category of finite-dimensional graded $R$-module categorifying a $q$-deformation of the doubly-invariant algebra $^{N'(w)} \mathbb{C}[N] ^{N(v)} $. In this paper, we prove that the localization $\tilde{\mathcal{C}}_{w,v}$ of the category $\mathcal{C}_{w,v}$ can be obtained as the localization by right braiders arising from determinantial modules. As its application, we show several interesting properties of the localized category $\tilde{\mathcal{C}}_{w,v} $ including the right rigidity.

Abstract:We discuss the theory of equivariant localization focussing on applications relevant for holography. We consider geometries comprising compact and non-compact toric orbifolds, as well as more general non-compact toric Calabi–Yau singularities. A key object in our constructions is the equivariant volume , for which we describe two methods of evaluation: the Berline–Vergne fixed point formula and the Molien–Weyl formula, supplemented by the Jeffrey–Kirwan prescription. We present two applications in supersymmetric field theories. Firstly, we describe a method for integrating the anomaly polynomial of SCFTs on compact toric orbifolds. Secondly, we discuss equivariant orbifold indices that are expected to play a key role in the computation of supersymmetric partition functions. In the context of supergravity, we propose that the equivariant volume can be used to characterize universally the geometry of a large class of supersymmetric solutions. As an illustration, we employ equivariant localization to prove the factorization in gravitational blocks of various supergravity free energies, recovering previous results as well as obtaining generalizations.

Action of Weyl group on equivariant K-theory of flag varieties

Abstract:We describe the action of the Weyl group of a semi simple linear group $G$ on cohomological and K-theoretic invariants of the generalized flag variety $G/B$. We study the automorphism $s_i$, induced by the reflection in the simple root, on the equivariant $K$-theory ring $K_T(G/B)$ using divided difference operators. Using the localization theorem for torus action and Borel presentation for the equivariant K-theory ring, we calculate the formula for this automorphism. Moreover, we expand this formula in the basis consisting of structure sheaves classes of Schubert varieties. We provide effective formula (applying properties of Weyl groups) for the approximation of this expansion, more specifically for the part corresponding to Schubert varieties with the fixed dimension, which in the case of $G$ being a special linear group is more exact. Finally, we discuss the above-mentioned formula in the basis of motivic Chern classes of Schubert varieties.

Abstract:We prove a conjecture of Schmid and the second named author that the unitarity of a representation of a real reductive Lie group with real infinitesimal character can be read off from a canonical filtration, the Hodge filtration. Our proof rests on three main ingredients. The first is a wall crossing theory for mixed Hodge modules: the key result is that, in certain natural families, the Hodge filtration varies semi-continuously with jumps controlled by extension functors. The second ingredient is a Hodge-theoretic refinement of Beilinson-Bernstein localization: we show that the Hodge filtration of a mixed Hodge module on the flag variety satisfies the usual cohomology vanishing and global generation properties enjoyed by the underlying $\mathcal{D}$-module. The third ingredient is an explicit calculation of the Hodge filtration on a tempered Hodge module. As byproducts of our work, we obtain a version of Saito's Kodaira vanishing for twisted mixed Hodge modules, a calculation of the Hodge filtration on a certain object in category $\mathcal{O}$, and a host of new vanishing results for coherent sheaves on flag varieties.
