Abstract:A coadjoint nilpotent orbit [inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href="01i" /] of a complex semisimple Lie group G is said to be spherical if it contains an open orbit of a Borel subgroup. We determine when and how to attach unitary representations to such an orbit for the real orthogonal and symplectic groups. Our results actually extend to a larger class of nilpotent coadjoint orbits.

Abstract:We prove several formulas related to Hodge theory and the Kodaira-Spencer-Kuranishi deformation theory of Kahler manifolds. As applications, we present a construction of globally convergent power series of integrable Beltrami differentials on Calabi-Yau manifolds and also a construction of global canonical family of holomorphic $(n,0)$-forms on the deformation spaces of Calabi-Yau manifolds. Similar constructions are also applied to the deformation spaces of compact Kahler manifolds.

Abstract:We treat generalizations of Kollár's torsion-freeness, vanishing theorem, and so on, for projective morphisms between complex analytic spaces as an application of the theory of variations of mixed Hodge structure. The results will play a crucial role in the theory of minimal models for projective morphisms of complex analytic spaces. In this paper, we do not use Saito's theory of mixed Hodge modules.

Abstract:We explain the homological relation between the Frobenius structure on the deformation space of Calabi-Yau manifold and the gauge theory of Kodaira-Spencer gravity. We show that the genus zero generating function of descendant invariants on Calabi-Yau manifolds from Barannikov's semi-infinite variation of Hodge structures is equivalent to the Kodaira-Spencer gauge theory at tree level.

Abstract:We derive a new bound on the dimension of images of period maps of global pure polarized integral variations of Hodge structures with generic Hodge datum of level at least 3. When the generic Mumford-Tate domain of the variation is a period domain parametrizing Hodge structures with given Hodge numbers, we prove that the new bound is at worst linear in the Hodge numbers, while previous known bounds were quadratic. We also give an example where our bound is significantly better than previous ones and sharp in the sense that there is a variation of geometric origin whose period image has maximal dimension (i.e. equal to the new bound).

Nilpotent orbit theorem in $p$-adic Hodge theory

Abstract:We state and prove three orbit theorems on the period domains for the $p$-adic Hodge structure analogous to the complex case. We shall consider the variation of de Rham (resp. étale) cohomology in a family of projective varieties $f:\mathfrak{X} \to S$ defined over a p-adic field. First, we show that any nilpotent orbit in the period domain of p-adic Hodge structures converges to a semistable point (filtration) in the period domain of the p-adic Hodge structure. Furthermore, the nilpotent orbits of the limit point are asymptotic to the twisted period map [Theorem \ref{thm:nilpotent-orbit}]. The orbit theorems come with some estimates of the distance between the nilpotent orbit and the twisted period map. The distance estimate in the p-adic nilpotent orbit theorem is given concerning the non-archimedean metric and is based on the p-adic Fourier analysis of Amice-Schneider. The result is analogous to the orbit theorems of W. Schmid [\cite{Sch}-1973] on complex Hodge structures. Our proof is based on a \textit{Geometric Invariant Theory} (GIT) criterion for semi-stability (Kempf-Ness theorem) and estimates from the (Amice-Schneider) p-adic Fourier theory. We also state the $SL_2$-orbit theorem in the p-adic case, [Theorem \ref{th:homomorphism}]. Finally, we explain how the nilpotent orbit theorem should be modified and stated for a variation of the mixed Hodge structure [Theorem \ref{thm:mixed-orbit}].}

Abstract:In this article, we consider the cohomologies with coefficients in a variation of polarized Hodge structures on a quasi-compact Kaehler manifold. We show that the L 2 L^2 -Dolbeault cohomology can be identified with the L 2 L^2 cohomology; we also give several direct applications of the result above.
Mirror Symmetry for Special Nilpotent Orbit Closures

Abstract:Motivated by geometric Langlands, we initiate a program to study the mirror symmetry between nilpotent orbit closures of a semisimple Lie algebra and those of its Langlands dual. The most interesting case is $B_n$ via $C_n$. Classically, there is a famous Springer duality between special orbits. Therefore, it is natural to speculate that the mirror symmetry we seek may coincide with Springer duality in the context of special orbits. Unfortunately, such a naive statement fails. To remedy the situation, we propose a conjecture which asserts the mirror symmetry for certain parabolic/induced covers of special orbits. Then, we prove the conjecture for Richardson orbits and obtain certain partial results in general. In the process, we reveal some very interesting and yet subtle structures of these finite covers, which are related to Lusztig's canonical quotients of special nilpotent orbits. For example, there is a mysterious asymmetry in the footprint or range of degrees of these finite covers. Finally, we provide two examples to show that the mirror symmetry fails outside the footprint.

Abstract:We introduce a Hopf algebroid associated to a proper Lie group action on a smooth manifold. We prove that the cyclic cohomology of this Hopf algebroid is equal to the de Rham cohomology of invariant differential forms. When the action is cocompact, we develop a generalized Hodge theory for the de Rham cohomology of invariant differential forms. We prove that every cyclic cohomology class of the Hopf algebroid is represented by a generalized harmonic form. This implies that the space of cyclic cohomology of the Hopf algebroid is finite dimensional. As an application of the techniques developed in this paper, we discuss properties of the Euler characteristic for a proper cocompact action.

Abstract:Let be the connected component of the identity of the variety of representations of a finitely generated nilpotent group into a connected reductive complex affine algebraic group G . We determine the mixed Hodge structure on the representation variety and on the character variety . We obtain explicit formulae (both closed and recursive) for the mixed Hodge polynomial of these representation and character varieties.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a complex reductive algebraic group. In <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2108.03453" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2108.03453">arXiv:2108.03453</a> Ivan Losev, Lucas mason-Brown and the third-named author suggested a symplectic duality between nilpotent Slodowy slices in $\mathfrak{g}^\vee$ and affinizations of certain $G$-equivariant covers of special nilpotent orbits. In this paper, we study the various versions of Hikita conjecture for this pair. We show that the original statement of the conjecture does not hold for the pairs in question and propose a refined version. We discuss the general approach towards the proof of the refined Hikita conjecture and prove this refined version for the parabolic Slodowy varieties, which includes many of the cases considered in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2108.03453" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2108.03453">arXiv:2108.03453</a> and more. Applied to the setting of <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2108.03453" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2108.03453">arXiv:2108.03453</a>, the refined Hikita conjecture explains the importance of special unipotent ideals from the symplectic duality point of view. We also discuss applications of our results. In the appendices, we discuss some classical questions in Lie theory that relate the refined version and the original version. We also explain how one can use our results to simplify some proofs of known results in the literature. As a combinatorial application of our results we observe an interesting relation between the geometry of Springer fibers and left Kazhdan-Lusztig cells in the corresponding Weyl group.

Abstract:T. Mochizuki constructs a theory of variations of wild Hodge structure for which the underlying flat connection can have irregular singularities at infinity. He extends in this way the correspondence of Corlette and Simpson between irreducible flat bundles and stables Higgs bundles, taking into account objects with irregular singularities. As an application, he proves a conjecture of Kashiwara concerning a generalization of the Hard Lefschetz theorem when the coefficients are the de Rham complex of a simple holonomic D-module on smooth complex projective variety.

Computation of Mean Velocity Distribution in a Turbulent Flow

Abstract:An approximate method to compute mean velocity profiles in turbulent flows is developed. This approach is based on the equation connecting the Reynolds stress and mean velocity. By using the measured values of pressure drop and average (bulk) flow velocity, such characteristics of a turbulent flow as the mean velocity and Reynolds stress distributions were calculated and compared with the experimental measurements in different pipes and channels for various fluids and gases. These show good agreement for a wide range of Reynolds numbers.

Abstract:In this paper, we extend the construction of the canonical polarized variation of Hodge structures over tube domain considered by Gross (Math Res Lett 1:1–9, 1994) to bounded symmetric domain and introduce a series of invariants of infinitesimal variation of Hodge structures, which we call characteristic subvarieties. We prove that the characteristic subvariety of the canonical polarized variations of Hodge structures over irreducible bounded symmetric domains are identified with the characteristic bundles defined by Mok (Ann Math 125(1):105–152, 1987). We verified the generating property of Gross for all irreducible bounded symmetric domains, which was predicted in Gross (Math Res Lett 1:1–9, 1994).
