Abstract:We consider the wave equation with an energy supercritical focusing nonlinearity in general odd dimensions. We prove that any radial solution that remains bounded in the critical Sobolev space is global and scatters to a linear solution.

Abstract:We consider the focusing energy-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation of fourth order iut+Δ2u=|u|8d−4u, d⩾5. We prove that if a maximal-lifespan radial solution u:I×Rd→C obeys supt∈I‖Δu(t)‖2<‖ΔW‖2, then it is global and scatters both forward and backward in time. Here W denotes the ground state, which is a stationary solution of the equation. In particular, if a solution has both energy and kinetic energy less than those of the ground state W at some point in time, then the solution is global and scatters.

Abstract:We consider the focusing energy-critical inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equation \[ iu_t + \Delta u = -|x|^{-b}|u|^{\alpha}u \] where $n \geq 3$, $0<b<\min(2, n/2)$, and $\alpha=(4-2b)/(n-2)$. We prove the global well-posedness and scattering for every $n \geq 3$, $0<b<\min(2, n/2)$, and every non-radial initial data $\phi \in \dot{H}^1(\mathbb{R}^n)$ by the concentration compactness arguments of Kenig and Merle (2006) as in the work of Guzman and Murphy (2021). Lorentz spaces are adopted during the development of the stability theory in critical spaces as in Killip and Visan (2013). The result improves multiple earlier works by providing a unified approach to the scattering problem, accepting both focusing and defocusing cases, and eliminating the radial-data assumption and additional restrictions to the range of $n$ and $b$.

Abstract:We prove that solutions to the quintic semilinear wave equation with variable coefficients in $\mathbb R^{1+3}$ scatter to a solution to the corresponding linear wave equation. The coefficients are small and decay as $|x|\to\infty$, but are allowed to be time dependent. The proof uses local energy decay estimates to establish the decay of the $L^6$ norm of the solution as $t\to\infty$.

Abstract:In this article, we will show the global wellposedness and scattering of the cubic defocusing nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation on waveguide $\mathbb{R}^2\times \mathbb{T}$ in $H^1$. We first establish the linear profile decomposition in $H^{ 1}(\mathbb{R}^2 \times \mathbb{T})$ motivated by the linear profile decomposition of the mass-critical Schr\"odinger equation in $L^2(\mathbb{R}^2)$. Then by using the solution of the infinite dimensional vector-valued resonant nonlinear Schr\"odinger system to approximate the nonlinear profile, we can prove scattering in $H^1$ by using the concentration-compactness/rigidity method.

Abstract:We study the large-time behavior of global energy class solutions of the one dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a general localized potential term and a defocusing nonlinear term. By using a new type of interaction Morawetz estimate localized to an exterior region, we prove that these solutions decompose into a free wave and a weakly localized part which is asymptotically orthogonal to any fixed free wave. We further show that the $L^2$ norm of this weakly localized part is concentrated in the region $|x| \leq t^{1/2+}$, and that the energy ($\dot{H}^1$) norm is concentrated in $|x| \leq t^{1/3+}$.

Abstract:This work investigates the asymptotic behavior of energy solutions to the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation of Choquard type Indeed, in the energy-critical spherically symmetric regime, one proves a global existence and scattering versus finite time blow-up dichotomy. Precisely, if the data have an energy less than the ground state one, two cases are possible. If the kinetic energy of the radial data is less than the ground state one, then the solution is global and scatters. Otherwise, if the data have a finite variance or is spherically symmetric and have a finite mass, then the solution is nonglobal. The main difficulty is to deal with the nonlocal source term. The argument is the concentration-compactness-rigidity method introduced by Kenig and Merle ( Global well-posedness, scattering and blow-up for the energy-critical, focusing, non-linear Schrödinger equation in the radial case , Invent. Math. 166 (2006), no. 3, 645–675). This note naturally complements the work by Saanouni ( Scattering theory for a class of defocusing energy-critical Choquard equations , J. Evol. Equ. 21 (2021), 1551–1571), where the scattering of the defocusing energy-critical generalized Hartree equation was obtained.

Abstract:For any $n\geq4$ even, we establish a complete scattering theory for the linear wave equation on the $(n+1)$-dimensional de Sitter space. We prove the existence and uniqueness of scattering states, and asymptotic completeness. Moreover, we construct the scattering map taking asymptotic data at past infinity $\mathscr{I}^-$ to asymptotic data at future infinity $\mathscr{I}^+$. Identifying $\mathscr{I}^-$ and $\mathscr{I}^+$ with $S^n,$ we prove that the scattering map is a Banach space isomorphism on $H^{s+n}(S^n)\times H^{s}(S^n),$ for any $s\geq1.$ The main analysis is carried out at the level of the model equation obtained by differentiating the linear wave equation $\frac{n}{2}$ times in the time variable. The main result of the paper follows from proving a scattering theory for this equation. In particular, for the model equation we construct a scattering isomorphism from asymptotic data in $H^{s+\frac{1}{2}}(S^n)\times H^s(S^n)\times H^s(S^n)$ to Cauchy initial data in $H^{s+\frac{1}{2}}(S^n)\times H^{s+\frac{1}{2}}(S^n)\times H^{s-\frac{1}{2}}(S^n)$.

Abstract:Abstract We consider the focusing energy-critical quintic nonlinear wave equation in 3D Euclidean space. It is known that this equation admits a one-parameter family of radial stationary solutions, called solitons, which can be viewed as a curve in $ \dot H^s_x({{\mathbb{R}}}^3) \times H^{s-1}_x({{\mathbb{R}}}^3)$, for any $s> 1/2$. By randomizing radial initial data in $ \dot H^s_x({{\mathbb{R}}}^3) \times H^{s-1}_x({{\mathbb{R}}}^3)$ for $s> 5/6$, which also satisfy a certain weighted Sobolev condition, we produce with high probability a family of radial perturbations of the soliton that give rise to global forward-in-time solutions of the focusing nonlinear wave equation that scatter after subtracting a dynamically modulated soliton. Our proof relies on a new randomization procedure using distorted Fourier projections associated to the linearized operator around a fixed soliton. To our knowledge, this is the 1st long-time random data existence result for a focusing wave or dispersive equation on Euclidean space outside the small data regime.

Abstract:We consider the defocusing energy-critical inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equation (INLS) $iu_t + \Delta u = |x|^{-b}|u|^{k}u$ in $\mathbb{R} \times \mathbb{R}^{n}$ where $n \geq 3$, $0<b<\min(2, n/2)$, and $k=(4-2b)/(n-2)$. We show that for every spherically symmetric initial data $\phi \in H^1(\mathbb{R}^n)$, or preferably $\dot{H}^1(\mathbb{R}^n)$, the solution is globally well-posed and scatters for every such $n$ and $b$ except for $n=4$ with $1\leq b<2$ and $n=5$ with $1/2\leq b\leq 5/4$. We mainly apply the arguments of Tao (2005), but inspired by the work of Aloui and Tayachi (2021), we utilize Lorentz spaces to define spacetime norms. This method is distinct from the widespread concentration compactness principle and establishes a quantitative bound for the solution's spacetime norm. The bound has an exponential form $C\exp(CE[\phi]^C)$ in terms of the energy $E[\phi]$, similar to Tao's work.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the global well-posedness and scattering for the wave equation with a cubic convolution $\partial_{t}^2u-\Delta u=\pm(|x|^{-3}\ast|u|^2)u$ in dimensions $d\geq4$. We prove that if the radial solution $u$ with life-span $I$ obeys $(u,u_t)\in L_t^\infty(I;\dot H^{1/2}_x(\mathbb R^d)\times\dot H^{-1/2}_x(\mathbb R^d))$, then $u$ is global and scatters. By the strategy derived from concentration compactness, we show that the proof of the global well-posedness and scattering is reduced to disprove the existence of two scenarios: soliton-like solution and high to low frequency cascade. Making use of the No-waste Duhamel formula and double Duhamel trick, we deduce that these two scenarios enjoy the additional regularity by the bootstrap argument of [Dodson,Lawrie, <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://Anal.PDE" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>, 8(2015), 467-497]. This together with virial analysis implies the energy of such two scenarios is zero and so we get a contradiction.
