Abstract:Let $\mathbf{a}$ and $\mathbf{b}$ be vectors in $\mathbf{R}^n$ with nonnegative coordinates. Permuting the coordinates, we can assume that $a_1 \geq \cdots \geq a_n$ and $b_1 \geq \cdots \geq b_n$. The vector $\mathbf{a}$ majorizes the vector $\mathbf{b}$, denoted $\mathbf{b} \preceq \mathbf{a}$, if $\sum_{i=1}^n b_i = \sum_{i=1}^n a_i$ and $\sum_{i=1}^k b_i \leq \sum_{i=1}^k a_i$ for all $k \in \{1,\ldots,n-1\}$. This paper proves theorems of Hardy-Littlewood-Pólya and Rado that $\mathbf{b} \preceq \mathbf{a}$ if and only if $P\mathbf{a} = \mathbf{b}$ for some doubly stochastic matrix $P$ if and only if $\mathbf{b}$ is in the $S_n$-permutohedron generated by $\mathbf{a}$.

Abstract:We proposed a proof of the Riemann hypothesis. The proof is based on the Nyman-Beurling-Baez-Duarte condition. By proving existence of the solution for a system of inequalities, we can show that there is a sequence, which act as the coefficient of Beurling's sequence, can approximate the constant vector in a weighted Hilbert space.

Abstract:The Dvoretzky--Kiefer--Wolfowitz--Massart inequality gives a sub-Gaussian tail bound on the supremum norm distance between the empirical distribution function of a random sample and its population counterpart. We provide a short proof of a result that improves the existing bound in two respects. First, our one-sided bound holds without any restrictions on the failure probability, thereby verifying a conjecture of Birnbaum and McCarty (1958). Second, it is local in the sense that it holds uniformly over sub-intervals of the real line with an error rate that adapts to the behaviour of the population distribution function on the interval.

Abstract:We describe recent work of Kim in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1210.5190" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1210.5190">arXiv:1210.5190</a> to show that operator convex functions associated with quasi-entropies can be used to prove a large class of new matrix inequalities in the tri-partite and bi-partite setting by taking a judiciously chosen partial trace over all but one of the spaces. We give some additional examples in both settings. Furthermore, we observe that the equality conditions for all the new inequalities are essentially the same as those for strong subadditivity.

This result generalizes the results in \cite{ONIR} and gives an affirmative answer to a conjecture in \cite{OACRT} for all $s\geq2$ and for all $p>0$ and $r\geq1$ such that $rp\geq1$ and $t=\frac{1}{2}$. This result also leads directly to Dinh, Ahsani, and Tam's conjecture in \cite{GAI} and proves Audenaert's result in \cite{ANIFP}.

Abstract:This paper starts by introducing results from geometric measure theory to prove symmetric decreasing rearrangement inequalities on $\mathbb{R}^n$, which give multiple proofs of the isoperimetric and Pólya-Szegő inequalities. Then we consider smooth oriented Riemannian manifolds of the form $M^n = (0,\infty)\times \Sigma^{n-1}$, and test what results carry over from the $\mathbb{R}^n$ setting or what assumptions about $M^n$ need to be added. Of particular interest was proving the smooth co-area formula in the Riemannian manifolds setting and re-formulating particular geometric inequalities.

On the spectral norm of Rademacher matrices

Abstract:We discuss two-sided non-asymptotic bounds for the mean spectral norm of nonhomogenous weighted Rademacher matrices. We show that the recently formulated conjecture holds up to $\log \log \log n$ factor for arbitrary $n\times n$ Rademacher matrices and the triple logarithm may be eliminated for matrices with $\{0,1\}$-coefficients.

Abstract:Inequalities play a main role in pure and applied mathematics. In this paper, we prove a generalization of Milne inequality for any measure space. The argument in the proof of this inequality allows us to obtain other Milne-type inequalities. Also, we improve the discrete version of Milne inequality, which holds for any positive value of the parameter p. Finally, we present a Milne-type inequality in the fractional context.

Abstract:In this note, we will prove an inequality for almost plurisubharmonic functions on any Kahler-Einstein manifolds with positive scalar curvature. This inequality generalizes the stronger version of the so called Moser-Trudinger-Onofri inequality on S-2, which was proved in [Au], and also refines a weaker inequality found by the first author in [T2].

Abstract:In this paper we present new versions of the classical Brunn-Minkowski inequality for different classes of measures and sets. We show that the inequality \[ \mu(\lambda A + (1-\lambda)B)^{1/n} \geq \lambda \mu(A)^{1/n} + (1-\lambda)\mu(B)^{1/n} \] holds true for an unconditional product measure $\mu$ with decreasing density and a pair of unconditional convex bodies $A,B \subset \mathbb{R}^n$. We also show that the above inequality is true for any unconditional $\log$-concave measure $\mu$ and unconditional convex bodies $A,B \subset \mathbb{R}^n$. Finally, we prove that the inequality is true for a symmetric $\log$-concave measure $\mu$ and a pair of symmetric convex sets $A,B \subset \mathbb{R}^2$, which, in particular, settles two-dimensional case of the conjecture for Gaussian measure proposed by R. Gardner and the fourth named author. In addition, we deduce the $1/n$-concavity of the parallel volume $t \mapsto \mu(A+tB)$, Brunn's type theorem and certain analogues of Minkowski first inequality.

Abstract:We present a purely analytical inequality which is equivalent to the Riemann hypothesis (RH). The proof of the equivalence is based on a representation of the modulus of the Riemann $\xi$ function. As the first step to analyze the inequality, we consider polynomial approximations. We also show that the RH is equivalent to the statement that some wave functions constructed using the Brownian motion never evolve into perfectly distinguishable states.

Abstract:The Callebaut inequality says that \begin{align*} \sum_{ j=1}^n \left(A_j\sharp B_j\right)\leq \left(\sum_{ j=1}^n A_j \sigma B_j\right)\sharp\left(\sum_{ j=1}^n A_j \sigma^{\bot} B_j\right)\leq\left(\sum_{ j=1}^n A_j\right)\sharp \left(\sum_{ j=1}^nB_j\right)\,, \end{align*} where $A_j, B_j\,\,(1\leq j\leq n)$ are positive invertible operators and $\sigma$ and $\sigma^\perp$ are an operator mean and its dual in the sense of Kabo and Ando, respectively. In this paper we employ the Mond--Pečarić method as well as some operator techniques to establish a complementary inequality to the above one under mild conditions. We also present some refinements of a Callebaut type inequality involving the weighted geometric mean and Hadamard products of Hilbert space operators.

Abstract:The Entropy method provides a powerful framework for proving scalar concentration inequalities by establishing functional inequalities like Poincare and log-Sobolev inequalities. These inequalities are especially useful for deriving concentration for dependent distributions coming from stationary distributions of Markov chains. In contrast to the scalar case, the study of matrix concentration inequalities is fairly recent and there does not seem to be a general framework for proving matrix concentration inequalities using the Entropy method. In this paper, we initiate the study of Matrix valued functional inequalities and show how matrix valued functional inequalities can be used to establish a kind of iterative variance comparison argument to prove Matrix Bernstein like inequalities. Strong Rayleigh distributions are a class of distributions which satisfy a strong form of negative dependence properties. We show that scalar Poincare inequalities recently established for a flip-swap markov chain considered in the work of Hermon and Salez [HS19] can be lifted to prove matrix valued Poincare inequalities. This can then be combined with the iterative variance argument to prove a version of matrix Bernstein inequality for Lipshitz matrix-valued functions for Strong Rayleigh measures.

These bounds are better than those derived from S.~H.~Tung's work [1].
