Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effects of tramadol on the proinflammatory responses in a rat model of incisional pain by investigating its effects on nociceptive thresholds and serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) and IL-2 levels. Methods Forty-two male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats scheduled for plantar incision were randomly divided into 7 groups ( n =6 in each group). Rats in Group 1 receiving general anesthesia with no incision were served as control; At 30 min before skin incision, Groups 2∼5 were given 5 ml normal saline or 1, 10, and 20 mg/kg tramadol, respectively, intraperitoneally (i.p.); Group 6 received 10 mg/kg tramadol after operation; Group 7 received 10 mg/kg tramadol before incision, followed by 200 μg/kg naloxone after operation. Mechanical allodynia was measured by electronic von Frey filament to evaluate the nociceptive thresholds 1 h before incision, and 1 h and 2 h after operation. Serum IL-6 and IL-2 levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) 2 h after operation. Results Mechanical thresholds decreased significantly and serum IL-6 level increased significantly after operation in Group 2 compared with control ( P <0.01), and these changes were reversed respectively by tramadol in a dose-dependent manner ( P <0.05 and P <0.01, respectively). IL-2 level remained unchanged after operation in Group 2, but decreased in Group 3 ( P <0.05), then gradually returned to the normal level in Groups 4 and 5. The intraperitoneally injected tramadol (10 and 20 mg/kg) produced a potent and dose-dependent antinocicptive effect on the lesioned paw. The antinocicptive effects of tramadol were partially antagonized by naloxone (200 μg/kg), suggesting an additional non-opioid mechanism. Conclusion The results suggest that tramadol could be a good choice for the treatment of pain under the conditions that immunosuppression may be particularly contraindicated.
Optimized Preparation of Naloxone Microemulsion and Its Transdermal Delivery Effect

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To prepare W/O microemulsion formulation containing naloxone and to investigate its transdermal delivery effect in vitro.METHODS The microemulsion was prepared with the system contained of isopropyl myristate-water-lecithin-propanol according to the central composite design(CCD).The steady permeation rate of naloxone hydrochloride was determined in vitro using Franz diffusion cell with the skin of SD male rats.The concentration of naloxone hydrochloride was measured by HPLC.RESULTS The optimal formulation contained lecithin(29%),propano(l25%) and IPM(35%).The steady permeation rate of naloxone microemulsion was 4.33 μg·h-1·cm-2,much higher than that of the aqueous solution(0.20 μg·h-1·cm-2).CONCLUSION Microemulsion enhanced the permeation of naloxone hydrochloride across the skin of SD male rats.
Influence of Continuous Time on Tetracaine Hydrochloride Jel Transdermal Iontophoresis

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of continuous time on drug amount transdermal iontophoresis flux of jel. METHOD Tetracaine hydrochloride was employed as model drug, The amount iontophoretic flux of tetracaine hydrochloride jel through rat skin was investigated using modified Franz one-chamber diffusion cells.RESULTS When the continuous time of iontophoresis was 15,30,45,60,90 and 120minute,the amount iontophoretic flux of tetracaine hydrochloride jel was 5.74,11.25,15.37, 20.97 ,28.82 and 36.96mg/cm 2 respectively.CONCLUSION The amount iontophoretic flux of jel is proportional to the applied continuous time.
Study on transdermal iontophoresis of piroxicam gel

Abstract:OBJECTIVE. To investigate the transdermal iontophoresis of piroxicam gel in vitro. METHOD. Different high molecule materials were employed to prepare piroxicam gel. Rat abdomen skin and modified Franz diffusion cells were used in the study of transdermal direct current iontophoresis and ultra-audio iontophoresis (frequency = 50kHz; on:off = 1:1). The release rate of piroxicam from the gel was also investigated. RESULTS. The enhanced rates of direct current iontophoresis of piroxicam gel at 0.1 mA·cm -2 and 0.2 mA·cm -2 were 2.01 and 3.81, respectively. Piroxicam released from drug gel was coincide with zero-order. With ultra-audio iontophoresis at 0.1 mA·cm -2, the flux and 4 h cumulative permeation amount of piroxicam were (14.2 ± 4.93) μg·cm -2·h -1 and (325 ± 27.0) μg, respectively. CONCLUSION. The results suggested that the enhancement to ionized drug was greater than that of uncharged drug. Iontophoresis could significantly increase the transdermal permeation of piroxicam gel. There were no statistically difference between the flux and the cumulative permeation amount of piroxicam gel with direct current iontophoresis and ultra-audio iontophoresis.
Transdermal delivery of tetracaine hydrochloride by electroporation

Abstract:OBJECTIVE: To study the effects of electroporation on the permeation of small molecular ion drug through skin in vitro. METHODS: Using valia-chien two-chamber diffusion cells, the fluxes of tetracaine hydrochloride achieved with passive diffusion, electroporative pulse and iontophoresis were compared. RESULTS: The application of electroporative pulse or iontophoresis increased the permeation of tetracaine hydrochloride. The flux of tetracaine hydrochloride with electroporative pulse (square wave pulse, voltage = 130 V, pulse time = 0. 4 s, pulse frequency = 40 pulses · min-1) was 4 times or 2 times higher than that of passive diffusion or iontophoresis (0.2 mA · cm-2, 4 h), respectively. When the pulse number was increased, the flux of tetracaine hydrochloride was increased. CONCLUSION: The permeation of tetracaine hydrochloride through skin can be increased by electroporation.
Cutaneous iontophoresis of μ-conotoxin CnIIIC-A potent NaV1.4 antagonist with analgesic, anaesthetic and myorelaxant properties

Abstract:Cutaneous iontophoretic delivery of μ-conotoxin CnIIIC (XEP), a potent peptide antagonist of the NaV1.4 sodium channel, was investigated using porcine ear skin and validated using human abdominal skin. Initial results demonstrated that cutaneous deposition of XEP following iontophoresis was superior to passive delivery and increased with current density. XEP deposition after iontophoresis at 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5mA/cm2 for 2h and 4h was 22.4±0.4, 34.5±1.4, 57.4±7.6μg/cm2 and 30.6±5.4, 53.9±17.2, 90.9±30.8μg/cm2, respectively (cf. corresponding passive controls - 9.8±1.1 and 16.9±1.0μg/cm2). Moreover, tape-stripping studies showed that XEP was mainly adsorbed on the skin surface when administered passively. Co-iontophoresis of acetaminophen demonstrated that XEP was present in the skin as it significantly reduced convective solvent flow as evidenced by the ∼7-fold decrease in acetaminophen permeation. Shorter duration iontophoresis (15, 30 and 60min) was performed and the effect of current density (0.1, 0.3 and 0.5mA/cm2) and concentration (0.1 and 1mM) investigated. Skin deposition of XEP was already quantifiable after iontophoresis for 15min at the lower concentration. There was no statistically significant difference between XEP deposition in porcine and human skin. Confocal laser scanning microscopy enabled post-iontophoretic visualization of FITC-labelled XEP in the epidermis.
Exploring the structure-permeation relationship of topical tricyclic antidepressants used for skin analgesia

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the skin permeation of tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) with propamine moiety to select candidates for the development of topical analgesics to treat cutaneous pain. We sought to establish the structure-permeation relationship (SPR) of topical TCAs. The lipophilicity, melting point, and aqueous solubility were determined to develop the physicochemical characterization. The TCA permeation into pig and nude mouse skins was estimated using Franz diffusion cell. TCAs and lidocaine were comparatively examined for cutaneous analgesia by pinprick assay. Cutaneous tolerance to TCAs was assessed using nude mouse skin. The skin deposition increased following the increase of lipophilicity after excluding the effect of solubility, with clomipramine exhibiting the highest skin retention. A contrary result was observed for TCA penetration into the receptor. Of the permeants tested, clomipramine demonstrated the best skin-targeting ability. Nortriptyline and clomipramine demonstrated selective uptake into the hair follicles, exhibiting a 2.5-fold higher follicular accumulation than desipramine. Replacement of nitrogen with carbon in the seven-member ring increased skin absorption. The tertiary amine TCAs demonstrated higher absorption than the secondary amine TCAs. The position of the double bond also affected skin transport. Topical clomipramine had a longer duration of analgesic action than lidocaine (240min versus 60min). Exploring the SPR revealed that clomipramine could be an analgesic candidate drug for future development.

Abstract:There are several treatment options for behavioral disturbances (BDs) in dementia. However, the choice of a specific psychotropic agent is directed by personal preferences and local community practice patterns. We examined the relationship between common clusters of BDs and the use of different classes of psychotropic agents in our community. A cross-sectional study of 430 long-term care residents from 5 nursing homes was undertaken. The Behavior Measurement Scale (BMS) was used to measure the frequency of BDs grouped in 4 categories. Residents with > 4 BD episodes in at least one category during a 2-week observation period were the behavior group and were considered to have clinically significant BDs. A sample of patients who had < 4 BDs in all BMS categories during the same observation period defined the nonbehavior group. A BD cluster was defined as > 4 BDs occurring in one or more BMS categories during the 2-week observation. Data on functional status, comorbidity, use of benzodiazepines, antidepressants, and neuroleptic agents were collected with chart review. The chi-square test was used to examine the correlation between variables. Clinically significant BDs were identified in 27.2% (117/430) of the residents in the sample. Five of 15 behavior clusters accounted for 73% of all clinically significant BDs. The 5 clusters were verbally nonaggressive behaviors (cluster 1, 20.5%), behaviors from all 4 categories (cluster 2, 17.9%), verbally and physically nonaggressive behaviors (cluster 3, 14.5%), physically nonaggressive behaviors (cluster 4, 12.8%), and verbally aggressive and nonaggressive behaviors (cluster 5, 7.7%). Cluster 5 had a negative correlation with functional impairment (P = .009). There was a significant correlation between cluster 2 and benzodiazepine use (P = .014). No other significant correlation was found between any of the 5 clusters and demographic variables, comorbidity status, and use of antidepressant or neuroleptic medications. Residents in the behavior group had higher impairment in self-feeding (P = .036) and bathing (P < .001) and were more likely to be treated with benzodiazepines (P = .004) and neuroleptic agents (P = .009) than residents in the nonbehavior group (n = 116). The higher use of neuroleptics and benzodiazepines in the behavior group compared with the nonbehavior group indicates that BDs are being identified for treatment, but the medications used may not be efficacious. The lack of association between specific classes of psychotropic medications and distinct behavior clusters indicates that clinicians are not using a standardized approach to target the neurochemical abnormalities that may underlie certain behavior clusters. Some behavior clusters correlate with impairment in specific activities of daily living categories such as bathing and feeding, making room for nonpharmacologic interventions. Transdermal Delivery of Diclofenac Sodium Gel after Iontophoresis

Abstract:OBJECTIVE: To observe the in vivo effect of combined iontophoresis and laurocapram pretreatment on transdermal delivery of diclofenac sodium gel. METHODS: Diclofenac sodium gel was prepared using polyvinyl alcohol, carboxymethylcellulose sodium and hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose. The diclofenac blood level in rabbits was measured in four groups: passive diffusion, laurocapram pretreatment, iontophoresis (current density controlled at 0.3 mA/cm(2)) and combined laurocapram pretreatment and iontophoresis. Rabbit stratum corneum of each of the four groups was examined using a scanning electron microscope. RESULTS: Diclofenac blood concentration in the passive diffusion group was undetectable. The diclofenac blood concentration area under the curve compared with time was 8.4 &mgr;l ml(-1) h(-1) in the laurocapram pretreatment group, 2.7 &mgr;l ml(-1) h(-1) in the iontophoresis group and 15.4 &mgr;l ml(-1) h(-1) in the combination group. There was no detectable damage observed by scanning electron microscopyto the stratum corneum after iontophoresis or laurocapram pretreatment. CONCLUSION: The combination of iontophoresis and laurocapram pretreatment appears to enhance transdermal delivery of diclofenac sodium gel wi thout significant skin damage.
Iontophoretic Delivery of Ropinirole Hydrochloride: Effect of Current Density and Vehicle Formulation

Abstract:Purpose. The objectives of this work were 1) to establish the feasibility of the transdermal iontophoretic delivery of ropinirole hydrochloride; 2) to investigate the possibility of delivering therapeutic doses of this drug; and 3) to determine the key factors that control ropinirole electrotransport.Methods. A series of in vitro transdermal iontophoretic experiments were instituted to study the effects of drug concentration, co-ion concentration, intensity of current, and application time on ropinirole flux. The convective contribution to ropinirole electrotransport was evaluated by following the transport of the electroosmotic marker mannitol.Results. Ropinirole flux decreased dramatically in the presence of competing ions. This effect was observed even when the molar fraction of the two competing cations was kept constant. Anodal flux of mannitol decreased with drug concentration, indicating a possible alteration of the skin permselectivity. In the absence of competing co-ions, ropinirole transport number reached a maximum value (8-13%). In these conditions, the main factor controlling drug delivery was the intensity of current applied.Conclusions. Transdermal iontophoresis allowed the delivery of therapeutic doses of ropinirole. The dose administered and the input rate were controlled by the judicious choice of the key delivery factors here described.

Abstract:Postoperative pain management is an important aspect of the overall surgical care process. Effective pain management not only provides patient comfort but also promotes faster recovery and reduces the risk of complications. Bupivacaine (BUP) and Lidocaine (LID) transdermal drug deliveries via thermoplastic polyurethane matrix (TPU) and iontophoresis technique are proposed here as alternative routes for postoperative pain instead of the injection route. Under applied electric field, the amounts of BUP and LID released were 95% and 97% from the loaded amounts, which were higher than the passive patch of 40%. The time to equilibrium of BUP turned out to be faster than the time to equilibrium of LID by approximately 1.5 times. This was due to 2 factors namely the drug molecular weight and the drug pK a value; they play an important role in the selection of a suitable drug for fast-acting or long-acting for the postoperative patients. By using this transdermal patch via iontophoresis system, BUP was deemed as the suitable drug for fast-acting due to the shorter time to equilibrium, whereas LID was the suitable drug for long-acting. The in-vitro drug release – permeation study through a porcine skin indicated the efficiency and potential of the system with the amounts of drug permeated up to 76% for BUP and 81% for LID. The TPU transdermal system was demonstrated here as potential to deliver BUP and LID for postoperative patients.

Asessment of analgesia in man: tramadol controlled release formula vs. tramadol standard formulation

Abstract:Objective: The present study tested analgesia produced by a new controlled release formulation of tramadol. The investigation employed an experimental pain model based on chemo-somatosensory event-related potentials (CSSERP) in response to painful chemical stimuli applied to the nasal mucosa.Study:Twenty healthy volunteers participated in the experiments, which followed a controlled, randomised, double-blind, 3-way cross-over design. Each of the three medications (tramadol 100 mg [T100], tramadol controlled release 100 mg [TCR100] and tramadol controlled release 150 mg [TCR150]) was administered orally to fasting subjects. There was at least a 6 day washout period between tests. Each experiment was divided into five sessions, which took place before and 2, 4, 6, and 12 h after drug administration. In addition to the assessment of CSSERP, subjects rated the intensity of both the tonic and phasic painful stimuli. Nonspecific drug effects were also monitored by means of frequency analysis of the spontaneous EEG, ratings of adverse effects, and the subjects’ performance in a tracking task.Results:The significant reduction of amplitude N1 at central recording positions indicated that TCR150 was the most effective analgesic 12 h after administration. Both 6 and 12 h after administration TCR100 was more effective in terms of analgesia compared to T100. In addition, TCR100 appeared to produce fewer adverse effects than the standard formulation of tramadol.Conclusions: The controlled release formulation can be expected to become a valuable tool in peroral therapeutic regimens for chronic pain.

Transdermal delivery of ketorolac tromethamine: permeation enhancement, device design, and pharmacokinetics in healthy humans

Abstract:Transdermal delivery of ketorolac tromethamine, a potent non-narcotic analgesic, through human skin in vitro and in vivo was investigated. In order to enhance and sustain the flux of ketorolac through human skin, various compositions of isopropyl alcohol (IPA), water, and isopropyl myristate (IPM) were evaluated. The solubility of ketorolac acid in an IPA/water binary vehicle mixture increased as the volume fraction of IPA increased from 0 to 90%. The solubility of ketorolac acid in an IPA/water/IPM (saturated) ternary vehicle mixture was practically the same as in the IPA/water binary vehicle mixture. The permeation of ketorolac acid through cadaver skin was evaluated using modified Franz diffusion cells. The skin flux increased as the IPA volume fraction was increased from 0 to 50% and then leveled off beyond 80% IPA loading. When IPM was added to the IPA/water binary vehicle mixture, a significant increase in the skin flux of ketorolac was observed. The skin flux decreased exponentially as the donor solution pH was raised from 3.5 to 7.0. The permeability of ketorolac through various membranes such as a microporous membrane and pressure-sensitive adhesive was evaluated. While a microporous membrane offered practically no diffusion resistance, the in vitro flux of ketorolac through cadaver skin decreased substantially upon lamination of pressure-sensitive adhesive onto a microporous membrane. Three liquid-reservoir type transdermal devices were fabricated using 6.5% ketorolac tromethamine gel, a microporous membrane, an adhesive membrane, and polyester backing film: TD-A (microporous membrane/acrylic adhesive), TD-B (microporous membrane/silicone adhesive), and TD-C (microporous membrane). The pharmacokinetics of ketorolac in 10 healthy humans following application of a transdermal device for 24 h was evaluated. The maximum plasma concentrations (Cmax) were 0.20, 0.18, and 0.82 microgram/mL for TD-A, TD-B, and TD-C, respectively. The total AUC values for the concentration-time curves were TD-C > TD-A > TD-B, and the terminal half-life ranged from 6.6 to 9.7 h.
Development, optimization and ex-vivo evaluation of a transdermal formulation containing trazodone

Abstract:Trazodone is a triazolpyridine derivative approved for the treatment of depression, and currently marketed as oral formulations. The transdermal administration of this drug could reduce side effects, related to peak plasma concentration, and improve patient adherence due to a reduced administration frequency. The aims of this work were: (a) the evaluation of the effect of pH vehicle and permeation enhancers on trazodone permeability across porcine skin ex-vivo; (b) the development and optimization of a transdermal drug delivery system containing trazodone hydrochloride. From the results obtained, it was found that the effect of pH of the vehicle on the permeation of trazodone across the skin is quite complex, because it influences both solubility and partitioning and that the presence of fatty acids in the vehicle has a notable effect on permeation (the enhancement factor obtained was approx. 100). For both the fatty acid selected (oleic and lauric) a parabolic relationship between the transdermal flux and the concentration was found, with an optimum activity in the range 2-3 %. In the second part of the work, different patches were prepared and tested ex-vivo. Overall, the results obtained seem to highlight that drug loading, rather than the components of the adhesive matrix, plays the most relevant role for the permeation of trazodone. The addition of lauric acid, which produced a considerable enhancement in solution, was not effective when included in the patch. The obtained data are promising although probably not clinically relevant for the treatment of depression, but might be interesting for the treatment of insomnia and anxiety disorder, which require much lower doses.
Evaluation of Compounded Transdermal Analgesic Formulations Using the Franz Finite Dose Model

Abstract:To evaluate the transdermal delivery of six analgesic drugs (i.e., ketamine, gabapentin, clonidine, lidocaine, ketoprofen, and amitriptyline) that were compounded into three commercially available bases, Salt Stable LS Base, Transdermal Pain Base, and Lipoderm ActiveMax Base, the Franz finite dose model was used for an in vitro penetration study using porcine skin over 48 hours. Rapid penetration with a steady-state flux after the first 24 hours was detected in all the formulations. The present study demonstrates the successful delivery of six compounded analgesic drugs, using all of the noted bases. A high flux rate within 1 hour to 4 hours of application would correlate to effective pain relief, and the prolonged delivery over the first 24 hours would reduce the need for frequent reapplication. This can aid in pain management with the potential for enhanced pain control.

Abstract:Transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) is primarily expressed in central and peripheral terminals of non-myelinated primary afferent neurons. We previously showed that AS1928370, a novel TRPV1 antagonist that can prevent ligand-induced activation but not proton-induced activation, ameliorates neuropathic pain in rats without hyperthermic effect. In this study, we investigated its analgesic profile in mice. AS1928370 showed good oral bioavailability and high penetration into the brain and spinal cord in mice. The mean plasma-to-brain and plasma-to-spinal cord ratios were 4.3 and 3.5, respectively. Pretreatment with AS1928370 significantly suppressed both capsaicin-induced acute pain and withdrawal response in hot plate test at 10-30 mg/kg per os (p.o.). At lower oral doses (0.3-1.0 mg/kg), AS1928370 improved mechanical allodynia in mice undergoing spinal nerve ligation. Intrathecal administration of AS1928370 (30 µg/body) also significantly suppressed mechanical allodynia. In addition, AS1928370 showed no effect on locomotor activity up to 30 mg/kg p.o. These results suggest that spinal TRPV1 has an important role in the transmission of neuropathic pain and that the central nervous system (CNS) penetrant TRPV1 receptor antagonist AS1928370 is a promising candidate for treating neuropathic pain.

Abstract:The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of lacidipine, amlodipine and benidipine on the analgesic activity and toxicity of tramadol. Rats (n=6/each group) were divided into five groups as control(CG), tramadol(TRD), lacidipine+tramadol(LTRD), amlodipine+tramadol(ATRD) and benidipine+tramadol(BTRD). Tramadol was administered once at a dose of 50 mg/kg and lacidipine, amlodipin, benidipin were administered at a dose of 4 mg/kg orally, once a day for 10 days. After the animals were sacrificed malondialdehyde(MDA) and total glutathione(tGSH) levels were measured in brain, heart, liver and kidney tissues. Troponin I(Tp I), alanine aminotransferase(ALT), aspartate aminotransferase(AST), blood urea nitrogen(BUN), and creatinine levels were determined in serum. Paw pain thresholds were measured 1 hour before and after drug administration. Analgesic effect of tramadol was increased the most by benidipine, while amlodipine and lacidipine increased it equally. Lacidipine failed to suppress MDA increase and tGSH decrease in brain tissue. Benidipine suppressed MDA increase and tGSH decrease in brain tissue better than amlodipine. All three drugs suppressed cardiac tissue oxidative stress and the release of TP I into the circulation. Lacidipine and amlodipine could not prevent tramadol-induced oxidative stress in liver and kidney tissues, whereas benidipine prevented excessive MDA increase and tGSH decrease. Benidipine significantly suppressed the increase of ALT, AST, BUN, and creatinine. Analgesic activity was 35.1% in TRD, 43.7% in LTRD 50.4% in ATRD and 67,5% in BTRD. Study results show that benidipine and tramadol co-treatment is better than co-treatment with lacidipine or amlodipine in achieving minimal toxic effects and maximum analgesia.

Abstract:A transdermal patch that combines microneedle array (MA) with iontophoresis can achieve synergistic and remarkable enhancement of drug delivery with precise electronic control. However, the development of an MA patch combined with iontophoresis that can enable in situ treatment, easy self-administration, and controllable delivery of liquid macromolecular drugs is still a challenge. Here, we presented an iontophoresis-driven porous MA patch (IDPMAP) for in situ, patient-friendly, and active delivery of charged macromolecular drugs. IDPMAP integrates porous MA with iontophoresis into a single transdermal patch, thus realizing the one-step drug administration strategy of "Penetration, Diffusion, and Iontophoresis." Moreover, a matching portable iontophoresis-driven device was developed for drug self-administration of IDPMAP. In vitro and in vivo studies showed that IDPMAP had approximately 99% skin penetration rate, negligible cytotoxicity, and good biocompatibility without skin irritation and hypersensitivity. In vivo transdermal delivery of insulin in type 1 diabetic rats demonstrated that IDPMAP could effectively deliver insulin nanovesicles and produce a robust hypoglycemic effect on the rats (maintain normal blood glucose for approximately 5.4 h), with more advanced controllability and efficiency than that achieved by pristine MA or iontophoresis. IDPMAP and its portable iontophoresis-driven device are user-friendly and thus show a promising potential for drug self-administration at home.

Abstract:With a significant portion of the world suffering from chronic pain, the management and treatment of this condition still requires extensive research to successfully mobilize and functionalize its sufferers. This article details the in vitro and in vivo evaluation of a transdermal electro-modulated hydrogel-microneedle array (EMHM) device for the treatment of chronic pain. In vitro characterization of the electro-modulated hydrogel was undertaken before the determination of the in vivo release, histopathologic and pharmacokinetic profiles of the EMHM in a Sprague Dawley rat model. Pharmacokinetic modeling was conducted to establish a level A in vitro-in vivo correlation. Data analysis was carried out by segmenting the combined in vivo release profile into individualistic profiles before analysis.
