Abstract:Crystals of the title compound, C15H14N4O4, were obtained from a condensation reaction between 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine and propiophenone. The compound crystallizes in an E configuration. Within the dinitrophenyl ring the distances [average 1.417 (4) Angstrom] of C-C bonds ipso to the amino group are significantly longer than the average distance of 1.375 (4) Angstrom for the other C-C bonds in the same phenyl ring. The van der Waals contact between the methyl and nitro groups from neighboring molecules results in the deviation of the ethyl group from the phenyl plane of the propiophenone group.

Abstract:The title compound, C12H9N2+center dot C7H4ClO3-center dot C12H8N2 center dot-C7H5ClO3, contains one phenanthrolinium (Hphen) cation, one phenanthroline (phen) molecule, one 4-chloro-2-hydroxybenzoate anion (hcba) and one 4-chloro-2-hydroxybenzoic acid (Hhcba) molecule in the asymmetric unit. The phen molecule is approximately parallel to Hphen, making a dihedral angle of 1.98 (6)degrees. The centroid-centroid distance between pyridine rings of adjacent phen and Hphen species is 3.7718 (15) angstrom, and that between the benzene and pyridine rings of adjacent phen and Hphen species is 3.7922 (16) angstrom, indicative of pi-pi stacking interactions. The crystal structure contains an extensive network of classical (O-H center dot center dot center dot O, N-H center dot center dot center dot N and O-H center dot center dot center dot Cl) and weak (C-H center dot center dot center dot O and C-H center dot center dot center dot N) hydrogen bonds. Finally, C-H center dot center dot center dot O interactions are seen between Hphen and hcba and between phen and Hhcba in the crystal structure. The hydroxy group of the anion is disordered over the two sites ortho to the carboxylate group in a 0.75: 0.25 ratio.

Abstract:Crystals of the title compound, C(13)H(10)N(4)O(4), were obtained from a condensation reaction of benzaldehyde and 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine. The molecule assumes an approximately planar E configuration. Within the dinitrophenyl moiety, the average distance for the aromatic C-C bonds close to the imino group [1.417 (3) A] is appreciably longer than the average distance for the other aromatic C-C bonds in the same phenyl ring [1.373 (3) A]. This increased distance may be a result of the overlap of the non-bonding orbital of the imino N atom with the pi orbitals of the arene. It is likely that pi-pi stacking exists in the crystal structure.

Abstract:The title compound, C11H13N3O2, includes a planar phenylhydrazone moiety and a five-membered carbon ring in an envelope conformation. A short C—C bond distance of 1.435 (6) Å is observed in the five-membered ring. This may be due to the larger displacement parameters of relevant atoms. Neighboring molecules are linked to each other via hydrogen bonding, forming a zigzag supramolecular chain along the b axis.

Abstract:Crystals of the title compound, C16H14N4O4, were obtained from a condensation reaction of benzylideneacetone and 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine. The molecule has a nearly planar structure with a dihedral angle of 7.57 (4)degrees between the dinitrophenyl and benzylidene mean planes. Within the dinitrophenyl moiety, the distances of 1.420 (2) and 1.411 (3) Angstrom for the C - C bonds near the imine group are longer than the average distance of 1.374 (3) Angstrom for the other C-C bonds in the same benzene ring. The short N-C distance of 1.338 (2) Angstrom indicates electron delocalization between the imine group and dinitrophenyl ring.

Abstract:In the title compound, C21H19N3O2S2, there are intramolecular hydrogen bonds and steric strain. Hydrogen bonds involving the amide groups and the pyridine N atoms force the two carboxamide groups and the central pyridine ring into the same plane (r. m. s. deviation = 0.054 Angstrom). Steric strain between the two methylsulfanyl substituents results in the benzene rings of the two arms of the ligand being inclined to one another by 45.23 (9) degrees. In the crystal structure, intermolecular C-H...O interactions are present and lead to the formation of a three-dimensional network.

Abstract:In the title compound, C31H29ClN2O3, the two heterocyclic rings, belonging to a system of five condensed rings, adopt conformations intermediate between twist-boat and sofa. The secondary amide group is involved in a weak intramolecular N—H⋯N hydrogen bond. In the crystal, molecules are linked by pairs of C—H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds to form inversion dimers. These dimers are linked via a C—H⋯O interaction to form chains propagating along the b-axis direction.
