Abstract:We show that the $\sigma$-product of complete Erdős space $\mathfrak E_{\mathrm{c}}$ is homeomorphic to the rational product $\mathbb Q\times \mathfrak E_{\mathrm{c}}$, answering a question by Rodrigo Hernández-Gutiérrez and Alfredo Zaragoza.

Abstract:Let $V$ be a quasi-conformal grading-restricted vertex algebra, $W$ be its module, and $\W_{z_1, \ldots, z_n}$ be the space of rational differential forms with complex parameters $(z_1, \ldots, z_n)$ for $n \ge 0$. Using geometric interpretation in terms of two Riemann spheres sewing we define a product of elements of two spaces $\W_{x_1, \ldots, x_k}$ and $\W_{y_1, \ldots, y_n}$, and study its properties. A product is introduced also for elements of two spaces $C^k_m(V, \W)$ $\times$ $C^n_{m'}(V, \W)$ $\to$ $C^{k+n}_{m+m'}(V, \W)$ of the corresponding chain complex of rational differential forms invariant with respect to transformations of complex parameters.

Abstract:Using the methods of topological dynamics, H. Furstenberg introduced the notion of a central set and proved the famous Central Sets Theorem. D. De, N. Hindman, and D. Strauss introduced $C$-set, satisfying the strong central set theorem. Using the algebraic structure of the Stone-Čech compactification of a discrete semigroup, N. Hindman and D. Strauss proved that the Cartesian product of two $C$-sets is a $C$-set. S. Goswami has proved the same result using the elementary characterization of $C$-sets. In this article, we will prove that the product of two $C$-sets is a $C$-set, using the dynamical characterization of $C$-sets. Recently, S. Goswami has proved that the Cartesian product of two $CR$-sets is a $CR$-set, which was a question posed by N. Hindman, H. Hosseini, D. Strauss, and M. Tootkaboni in [Semigroup Forum 107 (2023)]. Here we also prove that the Cartesian product of two essential $CR$-sets is an essential $CR$-set.

On $e$-local structures for $\mathbb{Z}_\ell$-spetses

Abstract:Let $q$ be a prime power, $\ell$ a prime not dividing $q$, and $e$ the order of $q$ modulo $\ell$. We show that the geometric realisation of the nerve of the transporter category of $e$-split Levi subgroups of a finite reductive group $G$ over $\mathbb{F}_q$ is homotopy equivalent to the classifying space $BG$ up to $\ell$-completion. We suggest a generalisation of this equivalence to the setting of $\mathbb{Z}_\ell$-reflection cosets and establish a related fact involving the associated orbit spaces. We also establish a Dade-like formula for unipotent characters of $\mathbb{Z}_\ell$-spetses inspired by a question of Broué.

Abstract:A topological space $X$ is called almost discrete, if it has precisely one nonisolated point. In this paper, we get that for a countable product $X=\prod X_i$ of almost discrete spaces $X_i$ the space $C_p(X)$ of continuous real-valued functions with the topology of pointwise convergence is a $\mu$-space if, and only if, $X$ is a weak $q$-space if, and only if, $t(X)=\omega$ if, and only if, $X$ is functionally generated by the family of all its countable subspaces. This result makes it possible to solve Archangel'skii's problem on the product of Grothendieck spaces. It is proved that in the model of $ZFC$, obtained by adding one Cohen real, there are Grothendieck spaces $X$ and $Y$ such that $X\times Y$ is not weakly Grothendieck space. In $(PFA)$: the product of any countable family almost discrete Grothendieck spaces is a Grothendieck space.

Abstract:The Petersson inner product is a natural inner product on the space of modular invariant functions. We derive a formula, written as a convergent sum over elementary functions, for the inner product $E_s(G,B)$ of the real analytic Eisenstein series $E_s(\tau, \bar{\tau})$ and a general point in Narain moduli space. We also discuss the utility of the Petersson inner product as a distance measure on the space of 2d CFTs, and apply our procedure to evaluate this distance in various examples.

Abstract:We prove that every Lindelöf scattered subspace of a $\Sigma$-product of first-countable spaces is $\sigma$-compact. In particular, we obtain the result stated in the title. This answers some questions of Tkachuk from [Houston J. Math. 48 (2022), no. 1, 171--181].

Abstract:We study the $S$-arithmetic (co)homology of reductive groups over number fields with coefficients in (duals of) certain locally algebraic and locally analytic representations for finite sets of primes $S$. We use our results to construct eigenvarieties associated to parabolic subgroups at places in $S$ and certain classes of supercuspidal and algebraic representations of their Levi factors. We show that these agree with eigenvarieties constructed using overconvergent homology and that for definite unitary groups they are closely related to the Bernstein eigenvarieties constructed by Breuil-Ding.

Abstract:The notions of CR set is intimately related with the generalized van der Waerden's theorem. In this article, we prove the product of two CR sets is again a CR set. This answers [Question 4.2., N. Hindman, H. Hosseini, D. Strauss, and M. Tootkaboni: Combinatorially rich sets in arbitrary semigroups, Semigroup Forum, 107 (2023), 127-143.] . We use combinatorial arguments to prove our result.

Abstract:Let $t$ be a positive integer. Following work of D. M. Davis, we study the topology of complex-projective product spaces, i.e. quotients of cartesian products of odd dimensional spheres by the diagonal $S^1$-action, and of the $t$-torsion lens product spaces, i.e. the corresponding quotients when the action is restricted to the $t^{\mathrm{th}}$ roots of unity. For a commutative complex-oriented cohomology theory $h^*$, we determine the $h^*$-cohomology ring of these spaces (in terms of the $t$-series for $h^*$, in the case of $t$-torsion lens product spaces). When $h^*$ is singular cohomology with mod 2 coefficients, we also determine the action of the Steenrod algebra. We show that these spaces break apart after a suspension as a wedge of desuspensions of usual stunted complex projective ($t$-torsion lens) spaces. We estimate the category and topological complexity of complex-projective and lens product spaces, showing in particular that these invariants are usually much lower than predicted by the usual dimensional bounds. We extend Davis' analysis of manifold properties such as immersion dimension, (stable-)span, and (stable-)parallelizability of real projective product spaces to the complex-projective and lens product cases.

Abstract:We investigate the set-theoretic properties of the lattice of projections in the Calkin algebra of a separable infinite-dimensional Hilbert space in relation to those of the Boolean algebra $P(\omega)/{\rm fin}$, which is isomorphic to the sublattice of diagonal projections. In particular, we prove some basic consistency results about the possible cofinalities of well-ordered sequences of projections and the possible cardinalities of sets of mutually orthogonal projections that are analogous to well-known results about $P(\omega)/{\rm fin}$.

Euler Product Asymptotics for $L$-functions of Elliptic Curves

Abstract:Let $E/\mathbb Q$ be an elliptic curve and for each prime $p$, let $N_p$ denote the number of points of $E$ modulo $p$. The original version of the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture asserts that $\prod \limits _{p \leq x} \frac{N_p}{p} \sim C (\log x) ^{\text{rank}(E(\mathbb Q))}$ as $x \to \infty$. Goldfeld showed that this conjecture implies both the Riemann Hypothesis for $L(E, s)$ and the modern formulation of the conjecture i.e. that $\text{ord}_{s=1} L(E, s)= \text{rank}(E(\mathbb Q))$. In this paper, we prove that if we let $r=\text{ord} _{s=1}L(E, s)$, then under the assumption of the Riemann Hypothesis for $L(E, s)$, we have that $\prod \limits _{p \leq x} \frac{N_p}{p} \sim C (\log x)^r$ for all $x$ outside a set of finite logarithmic measure. As corollaries, we recover not only Goldfeld's result, but we also prove a result in the direction of the converse. Our method of proof is based on establishing the asymptotic behaviour of partial Euler products of $L(E, s)$ in the right-half of the critical strip.

Abstract:The Segal conjecture for $C_p$ (as proved by Lin and Gunawardena) asserts that the canonical map from the $p$-complete sphere spectrum to the Tate construction for the trivial action of $C_p$ on the $p$-complete sphere spectrum is an isomorphism. In this article we extend the collection of spectra for which the canonical map $X \to X^{tC_p}$ is known to be an isomorphism to include any $p$-complete, bounded below spectrum whose mod $p$ homology, viewed a module over the Steenrod algebra, is complete with respect to the maximal ideal $I \subseteq \mathcal{A}$.

Abstract:We show that in the class of Lindelöf Čech-complete spaces the property of being $C$-embedded is quite well-behaved. It admits a useful characterization that can be used to show that products and perfect preimages of $C$-embedded spaces are again $C$-embedded. We also show that both properties, Lindelöf and Čech-complete, are needed in the product result.

Finding product sets in some classes of amenable groups

Abstract:In 2022, using methods from ergodic theory, Kra, Moreira, Richter, and Robertson resolved a longstanding conjecture of Erdős about sumsets in large subsets of the natural numbers. In this paper, we extend this result to several important classes of amenable groups, including all finitely generated virtually nilpotent groups, and all abelian groups $(G,+)$ with the property that the subgroup $2G := \{g+g : g\in G\}$ has finite index. We prove that in any group $G$ from the above classes, any $A\subset G$ with positive upper Banach density contains a shifted product set of the form $\{tb_ib_j\colon i<j\}$, for some infinite sequence $(b_n)_{n\in\mathbb{N}}$ and some $t\in G$. In fact, we show this result for all amenable groups that posses a property which we call square absolute continuity. Our results provide answers to several questions and conjectures posed in a recent survey of Kra, Moreira, Richter and Robertson.

Abstract:Two cycles on a projective variety over an algebraically closed field are shown to be rationally equivalent if and only if their difference equals a difference of complete intersections of a certain kind. Some of Bloch's conjectures for zero-cycles on surfaces can be restated more geometrically, which leads to several questions.

Abstract:We show that a modular unit on two copies of the upper half-plane is a Borcherds product if and only if its boundary divisor is a special boundary divisor. Therefore, we define a subspace of the space of invariant vectors for the Weil representation which maps surjectively onto the space of modular units that are Borcherds products. Moreover, we show that every boundary divisor of a Borcherds product can be obtained in this way. As a byproduct we obtain new identities of eta products.

Abstract:Given a Coxeter system with a fixed Coxeter element, there is a surjective group morphism $\Psi$ from the standard to the dual Artin groups. We give conditions that are sufficient, necessary or equivalent to $\Psi$ being an isomorphism. In particular, we prove that if the Hurwitz action on the reduced words of any element in the noncrossing partition poset is transitive, and if the Hurwitz action on the reduced words of the Coxeter element has the same stabilizer as essentially the same action viewed in the standard Artin group, then $\Psi$ is an isomorphism. Both of those conditions are already known in some cases, notably in spherical and affine types. We then prove that taking the free (or direct) product of groups that satisfy those two conditions yields another group that, with a suitable Coxeter element, also satisfies them.
