Abstract:The availability and easy access of large scale experimental and computational materials data have enabled the emergence of accelerated development of algorithms and models for materials property prediction, structure prediction, and generative design of materials. However, lack of user-friendly materials informatics web servers has severely constrained the wide adoption of such tools in the daily practice of materials screening, tinkering, and design space exploration by materials scientists. Herein we first survey current materials informatics web apps and then propose and develop this http URL, a web based materials informatics toolbox for materials discovery, which includes a variety of routinely needed tools for exploratory materials discovery, including materials composition and structure check (e.g. for neutrality, electronegativity balance, dynamic stability, Pauling rules), materials property prediction (e.g. band gap, elastic moduli, hardness, thermal conductivity), and search for hypothetical materials. These user-friendly tools can be freely accessed at \url{this http URL}. We argue that such materials informatics apps should be widely developed by the community to speed up the materials discovery processes.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problems that this paper attempts to solve are mainly concentrated in the field of materials science. Specifically: 1. **Insufficient Web Applications in Materials Informatics**: Although machine - learning and data - driven methods are increasingly widely used in materials science, currently, the number, diversity, and quality of web applications in the field of materials informatics are far inferior to those in the field of bioinformatics. This restricts the wide application of these tools in daily practices such as material screening and design - space exploration. 2. **Limitations of Existing Web Applications**: Most of the existing materials informatics web applications lack the ability of high - throughput screening. Usually, they can only accept the input of one component or structure at a time, and do not support the convenient download of prediction results. In addition, many algorithms or descriptors are out - of - date, which affects the accuracy of prediction. 3. **Requirements in the Material Discovery Process**: The material discovery process can be roughly divided into four main stages: characterization, property prediction, synthesis, theoretical discovery, and material design. Each stage requires specific convenient web applications for support, but currently, these applications are either missing or have limited functions. For this reason, the author proposes the **MaterialsAtlas.org** platform, aiming to provide a comprehensive materials informatics toolbox, supporting a series of functions from material composition and structure verification, property prediction to hypothetical material database query, etc., in order to accelerate the material discovery process. This platform pays special attention to the requirements of high - throughput material discovery and provides a user - friendly interface and convenient result - download function.
