Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical users′experience on using the intelligent laboratory test system so as to provide reference for its optimization.Methods Fifteen laboratory staff with different sub specialty was selected for in-depth interviews and data were analyzed using phenomenological approach.Results Intelligent laboratory system could improve the quality of test result verification and interpretation,shorten the turnaround time and improve the work efficiency.It took about 1-2 months for users to accept the automatic verification function.After that,the users could believe in the system and used it in their daily work.The sys-tem could reduce the work stress and verification duty,while balancing the technical gap between laboratory technicians.Users could only understand the general rule of the intelligent system and it was difficult for them to manage the rule repository.Conclu-sion The intelligent laboratory system is one of the artificial intelligent system used for the medical laboratory,it can provide com-prehensive clinical decision support for the laboratory staff.

Abstract:On large process plants, real-time fault diagnosis is a difficult task for the operators, expert system can be used to assist them in this work. In this paper, a method of generating knowledge base for the real-time diagnostic problem solving was presented. The knowledge base takes a hierarchical structure: the high level is a semantic network representing general knowledge of fault propagation in a plant; the low level consists of all the nodes in the network, each node may be a functional component or a typical unit operation, and some of the nodes have local analytical fault diagnostic model. The global and local diagnosability of the system can be investigated by using topological and state space approaches. It is found that diagnosability is affected by the allocation of on-line sensors, the availability of off-line symptom information provided by human operator and the way to decompose the process plant. Coordination of the later three factors will give desired diagnosability and diagnosis efficiency. Based on the multi-level knowledge base, an integrated diagnosis system, with conventional part which includes a set of diagnostic algorithms using low level information and knowledge based part which has general reasoning ability, can be built up. To demonstrate usefulness of the knowledge base, an example in a chemical reactor domian is described.

Abstract:A system combined the function of Industrial Computer, PLC, virtual instruments, sensors and data acquisition was designed and developed for testing and controlling of hydraulic steering control unit, which can achieve automated data acquisition, data processing, test results judgment, false alarms and etc. with the development of computer and science. The software of test system was designed through LabVIEW, and by using module design method, error detection, modify and maintenance of the software turn to be simple and the software become more robust. The system also adopted shielding and filtering with combination of hardware and software to improve test accuracy which reduces test error caused by operators and improve test efficiency.

Abstract:Computer aided detection and diagnosis system (CAD) is designed to improve the efficiency and quality of medical diagnosis. The existing CAD system tries to realize a diagnosis process in an automatic way to replace the doctor's diagnosis work completely, but it is difficult to capture the doctor's detection and diagnosis needs and goals accurately due to lack of doctor's experience. Thus, the accuracy is not up to the doctor's manual diagnosis results, and it is a tedious and cumbersome job to use the system because it requires manual intervention, which leads to the fact that CAD system was difficult to be widely used. This paper analyzes the characteristics of doctors' diagnosis tasks deeply, and makes the reasonable allocation of tasks between the doctor and computer. Then the perceptual control theory is introduced into the task model, a PTT task model is proposed to make it express uncertainty of the doctor's diagnosis tasks, and it can be used as a reference for future uncertainty task analysis. Therefore, an interactive CAD tasks framework is put forward with the assistant decision support provided for doctors by means of Bayesian network model and conceptual graph semantic matching method to diagnose tasks. In addition, effective support is provided for interface development staffs to design interactive systems that are suitable for the physicians' diagnostic tasks. The experimental results show that the method not only improves the accuracy and efficiency of the medical diagnosis, but also improves the usability of the system design.

Abstract:A control and signal processing system is designed and implemented for fault detection of cab electric circuit in various types of vehicles.The acquisition,input and processing of analogue and digital signals and the simulation on sensor signals of cab instruments are realized for different detected objects of cab electric circuit respectively.Databases for cab electric circuit and its detecting results are also set up for real time display and subsequent inquiry,including remote inquiry by intranet.The trial operation on cab production line shows that the system functions stable and reliable.

Abstract:Abstract Objectives Monitoring quality control for a laboratory or network with multiple instruments measuring the same analyte is challenging. We present a retrospective assessment of a method to detect medically significant out-of-control error conditions across a group of instruments measuring the same analyte. The purpose of the model was to ensure that results from any of several instruments measuring the same analytes in a laboratory or a network of laboratories provide comparable results and reduce patient risk. Limited literature has described how to manage QC in these very common situations. Methods Single Levey–Jennings control charts were designed using peer group target mean and control limits for five common clinical chemistry analytes in a network of eight analyzers in two different geographical sites. The QC rules used were 1 3s /2 2s /R 4s , with the mean being a peer group mean derived from a large population of the same instrument and the same QC batch mean and a group CV. The peer group data used to set the target means and limits were from a quality assurance program supplied by the instrument supplier. Both statistical and clinical assessments of significance were used to evaluate QC failure. Instrument bias was continually monitored. Results It was demonstrated that the biases of each instrument were not statistically or clinically different compared to the peer group’s average over six months from February 2023 until July 2023. Over this period, the error rate determined by the QC model was consistent with statistical expectations for the 1 3s /2 2s /R 4s rule. There were no external quality assurance failures, and no detected error exceeded the TEa (medical impact). Thus, the combined statistical/clinical assessment reduced unnecessary recalibrations and the need to amend results. Conclusions This paper describes the successful implementation of a quality control model for monitoring a network of instruments, measuring the same analytes and using externally provided quality control targets. The model continually assesses individual instrument bias and imprecision while ensuring all instruments in the network meet clinical goals for quality. The focus of this approach is on detecting medically significant out-of-control error conditions.

Abstract:A real-time fuzzy-knowledge-based system for fault diagnosis and control of bioprocesses was constructed using the object-oriented programming environment Small-talk/V Mac. The basic system was implemented in a Macintosh Quadra 900 computer and built to function connected on line to the process computer. Fuzzy logic was employed in handling uncertainties both in the knowledge and in measurements. The fuzzy sets defined for the process variables could be changed on-line according to process dynamics. Process knowledge was implemented in a graphical two-level hierachical knowledge base. In on-line process control the system first recognizes the current process phase on the basis of top-level rules in the knowledge-base. Then, according to the results of process diagnosis based on measurement data, the appropriate control strategy is subsequently inferred making use of the lower level rules describing the process during the phase in question. Abstract:As the business volume is getting bigger, more and more problems are exposed to product quality testing. For example, the application of the traditional statistical process control (SPC) is not flexible on different occasions due to the fixed testing rules and the manual data collection. These problems lead to large deviation and low efficiency. In order to fasten the testing process and optimize the results of testing, we design an online system that integrates the Drools rule engine and automatic collection mechanism based on some common communication protocols and devices into SPC to replace traditional manual quality testing. In this paper, we introduce the principle of the system design in detail. The experimental results show that we can utilize SPC in a more convenient and efficient way.

Abstract:Due to commercial pressures, North-American printed circuit-board assembly manufacturers have had to reposition themselves in the more difficult market segment of lower volume, higher complexity products, also called high-mix, low-volume (HMLV). The high per-unit costs of these products justify substantial diagnosis and repair efforts when defects are detected in production. Although automated diagnostics is desirable, the low production volumes impose severe limits on available data. We propose a novel approach based on knowledge modeling and case-based reasoning for automated diagnosis of assembled printed circuit boards in an HMLV production environment. Our hybrid approach can overcome the knowledge-acquisition bottleneck even in a data-poor environment. The proposed approach does not require contributions from product designers or experts and is designed to operate using only information available during manufacturing. Our test results show that our diagnostic system can detect, locate and classify all single faults and multiple faults affecting up to three neighboring nodes with a better success rate than the reference commercial tool. Moreover, case base data, including board layout information and user feedback from previous repairs, is used to feed a recommender system to provide repair suggestions. A production and repair data simulator is described and used to evaluate the recommender system’s effectiveness.

Automating and improving the data quality of a nursing department quality management program at a university hospital

Abstract:Background: The development and implementation of a relational database program for nursing quality management at a university hospital was stimulated by a lack of consistent data management and analysis tools in the existing noncomputerized program. Program development and implementation: An initial software prototype implemented in the critical care service included data collection instruments for five areas: medication errors, patient falls, returns to an intensive care unit within 48 hours, hospital-acquired skin breakdown, and unplanned extubations. Access to the database was limited and paper reports only were disseminated on a scheduled basis. In a second phase, the database is being deployed throughout the nursing department using a local area network. Nurse managers will enter and interact with the quality database online and have access to graphics, reports, and action plan development. Possible errors: A wide range of potential errors influences decisions on how to collect, store, retrieve, and process quality management data. Each type of error affects the nurse manager's ability to identify significant patterns or trends that are amenable to intervention. There is no right way of constructing and implementing a quality improvement database; only an optimum balance between cost, complexity, and efficacy. Summary and conclusions: Initial feedback from end uses has been positive. A three-year experience with a personal computer database suggests that the personal computer-based information technology is appropriate for small to medium applications and can support departmentwide CQI efforts. A case scenario using simulated data is included to illustrate the use of computerized reports in assessing and taking action on an increase in falls.

Abstract:With the rapid advancement of virtual instrument technology, converting the data measurement and control platform to a virtual one has become fashionable. This study focuses on dynamic measurement in order to create a multichannel parallel dynamic testing virtual instrument and then test the instrument’s performance. System login, user management, database storage, query and compression, data processing and real-time display, multifunctional analysis, remote access, and report generation modules have all been designed and implemented. A dynamic measurement uncertainty evaluation method based on quasi-Monte Carlo (MC) method is proposed in light of the common phenomenon that static is used instead of dynamic in the current evaluation process of dynamic measurement uncertainty. For this example, the actual results show that the algorithm produces very reliable and stable calculation results.

The efficacy of system fault diagnosis is intricately linked with the testability design of the system, particularly in intricate systems encompassing numerous components exhibiting diverse failure modes. However, current research shows a dearth of effective testability models and algorithms for generating diagnostic strategies in multi-valued attribute systems (MVAS) with uncertainty. To address this, the present paper introduces a novel method for testability modeling for complex systems. This approach incorporates signal features in lieu of raw sensor signals within the testability modeling process and accounts for the uncertainties surrounding test outcomes. The context of complex MVAS, characterized by inherent uncertainty, the paper proposes a novel method for constructing a four-value dependency matrix (D-matrix). Furthermore, the paper presents a novel sequential diagnosis strategy optimization approach based on a heuristic evaluation function for the multivalued D-matrix with uncertainty. The proposed methodology has been rigorously validated using a real-world case study involving an aero-engine fuel metering device system. Comparative experiments show that the proposed method can achieve better diagnostic performance in the shortest time.

Abstract:An online intelligent virtual instrument system of equipment state monitoring and fault diagnosis with certain flexibility and opening is presented to ensure the large and key equipment running safely and steadily. In order to realize the system, advanced virtual instrument technology, PXI bus technology, database technology, network technology and various modem mathematical models such as artificial neural network, wavelet transform method and hide Markov model etc. are applied. This system can realize online monitoring of vibration characteristic and other running parameters, automatic analyzing, real-time data store, state distinguishment, fault diagnosis, running trend predicting and remote diagnosis. With this system applied, the working conditions of field are ameliorated and the hidden fault danger can be discovered in time to avoid the sudden shutting down of the equipment and the occurrence of accident. Consequently, the state predicting maintenance can be realized before the fault taking place, and the maintenance cost can be reduced and the productivity can be improved.

Abstract:Qualitative trend analysis (QTA) is a process-history-based data-driven technique that works by extracting important features (trends) from the measured signals and evaluating the trends. QTA has been widely used for process fault detection and diagnosis. Recently, Dash et al. [2004. A novel interval-halving framework for automated identification of process trends. AIChE Journal 50 (1), 149–162] presented an interval-halving-based algorithm for off-line automatic trend extraction from a record of data, a fuzzy-logic based methodology for trend-matching and a fuzzy-rule-based framework for fault diagnosis (FD). In this article, an algorithm for on-line extraction of qualitative trends is proposed. A framework for on-line fault diagnosis using QTA also has been presented. Some of the issues addressed are: (i) development of a robust and computationally efficient QTA-knowledge-base, (ii) fault detection, (iii) estimation of the fault occurrence time, (iv) on-line trend-matching, and (v) updating the QTA-knowledge-base when a novel fault is diagnosed manually. A prototype QTA-based diagnostic system has been developed in Matlab®. Results for fault diagnosis of the Tennessee Eastman process using the developed framework are presented.

Abstract:For nearly a decade, quality-related fault detection algorithms have been widely used in industrial systems. However, the majority of these detection strategies rely on static assumptions of the operating environment. In this paper, taking the time series of variables into consideration, a dynamic kernel entropy component regression (DKECR) framework is proposed to address the instability of quality-related fault detection due to the existing dynamic characteristics. Compared with the typical kernel entropy component analysis method, the proposed method constructs the relationship between process states and quality states to further interpret the direct effect on the product taken by the fault. In the proposed approach, process measurements are converted to a lower-dimensional subspace with a specific angular structure that is more comprehensive than traditional subspace approaches. In addition, the angular statistics and their relevant thresholds are exploited to enhance the quality-related fault detection performance. Finally, the proposed method will be compared with three methods by means of a numerical example and two industrial scenarios to demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness. Note to Practitioners—This paper studies a quality-related fault detection problem for the dynamic nonlinear industrial system. Controlling and measuring the quality state is challenging for the high-level monitoring system of the manufacturing process due to the nonlinear dynamic feature in states. This paper proposes a new data-driven method based on the kernel entropy component analysis method to assess the correlation between the quality and fault in the industrial system, reducing unnecessary overhaul and maintenance. Based on the autoregressive moving average exogenous algorithm, the proposed method captures the dynamic interaction between the process states to decrease false alarms. In the experimental section, the DKECR method outperforms the compared approaches, which can provide stable fault detection results. Additionally, the unique angle structure of the proposed method can supply more information for engineers’ monitoring needs.

Abstract:The quality of model-based definition (MBD) models is one of the significant challenges to achieving model-based enterprise (MBE). Different stakeholders in MBE put forward different quality requirements for MBD models, while any quality defect may hinder the production. Therefore, it is essential to analyze the quality of MBD models adequately before the usage. However, existing quality tools are difficult to apply in MBE. A knowledge-based quality analysis system for MBD part models is presented in this paper. The system utilizes model quality knowledge to analyze model quality from the perspective of various stakeholders in MBE. And it can be extended by adding new MBD part model quality knowledge. In order to judge model quality, a concept of the model definition unit is introduced for converting model information into the description towards model semantics quality, and a quality analysis method based on this description is proposed. For the ease of model quality knowledge representation and maintenance, a knowledge representation framework based on the object chain and parameter table is developed. Finally, a prototype system is implemented to verify the effectiveness and practicality. With 46 knowledge items derived from eight model-used stages, in total 24 potential quality defects are found in two case models. And additional two defects are discovered by extending the system with new model quality knowledge. In this way, the model quality is improved from the perspective of corresponding users.

[Application of Laboratory Information System in the Management of the Key Indicators of Quality Inspection].

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To establish a system of monitoring the key indicator of quality for inspection (KIQI) on a laboratory information system (LIS), and to have a better management of KIQI. METHODS:Clinical sample made in PUMCH were collected during the whole of 2014. Next, interactive input program were designed to accomplish data collecting of the disqualification rate of samples, the mistake rate of samples and the occasions of losing samples, etc. Then, a series moment of sample collection, laboratory sample arrived, sample test, sample check, response to critical value, namely, trajectory information left on LIS were recorded and the qualification rate of TAT, the notification rate of endangering result were calculated. Finally, the information about quality control were collected to build an internal quality control database and the KIQI, such as the out-of-control rate of quality control and the total error of test items were monitored. RESULTS:The inspection of the sample management shows the disqualification rates in 2014 were all below the target, but the rates in January and February were a little high and the rates of four wards were above 2%. The mistake rates of samples was 0.47 cases/10 000 cases, attaining the target (< 2 cases/10 000 cases). Also, there was no occasion of losing samples in 2014, attaining the target too. The inspection of laboratory reports shows the qualification rates of TAT was within the acceptable range (> 95%), however the rates of blood routine in November (94.75%) was out of range. We have solved the problem by optimizing the processes. The notification rate of endangering result attained the target (≥ 98%), while the rate of timely notification is needed to improve. Quality inspection shows the CV of APTT in August (5.02%) was rising significantly, beyond the accepted CV (5.0%). We have solved the problem by changing the reagent. The CV of TT in 2014 were all below the allowable CV, thus the allowable CV of the next year lower to 10%. CONCLUSION:It is an objective and effective method to manage KIQI with the powerful management mode of database and information process capability on LIS.
