Abstract:In this paper, we consider asymptotically flat Riemannian manifolds endowed with a continuous metric and the metric is smooth away from a compact subset with certain conditions. If the metric is Lipschitz and the scalar curvature is nonnegative away from a closed subset with (n - 1)-dimensional Hausdorff measure zero, then we prove that the ADM mass of each end is nonnegative. Furthermore, if the ADM mass of some end is zero, then we prove that the manifold is isometric to the Euclidean space. The Hausdorff measure condition is optimal, which confirms a conjecture of Lee in 2013. The proof of the nonnegativity is based on a smoothing argument with some new estimates such as a L-1-scalar curvature approximation estimates. The proof of the rigidity relies on the RCD theory where we show that the manifold has nonnegative Ricci curvature in RCD sense. The idea involving RCD theory in the proof turns out to be much more suitable in the study of the rigidity for continuous metrics. Furthermore, our result generalizes the result of Lee and LeFloch (Commun Math Phys 339(1):99-120, 2015) from spin to non-spin.

Abstract:In this note, we provide a very simple proof of the uniformization theorem of Riemann surfaces by Ricci flow. The argument builds on a refinement of Hamilton's isoperimetric estimate for the Ricci flow on the two-sphere.

Abstract:By using the interior curvature estimate and Gromov's compactness theorem, we prove that a stable complete minimal hypersurface in R n +1 with finite total scalar curvature must be a hyperplane. Abstract:We prove that any metric surface (that is, metric space homeomorphic to a 2 -manifold with boundary) with locally finite Hausdorff 2 -measure is the Gromov–Hausdorff limit of polyhedral surfaces with controlled geometry. We use this result, together with the classical uniformization theorem, to prove that any metric surface homeomorphic to the 2 -sphere with finite Hausdorff 2 -measure admits a weakly quasiconformal parametrization by the Riemann sphere, answering a question of Rajala–Wenger. These results have been previously established by the authors under the assumption that the metric surface carries a length metric. As a corollary, we obtain new proofs of the uniformization theorems of Bonk–Kleiner for quasispheres and of Rajala for reciprocal surfaces. Another corollary is a simplification of the definition of a reciprocal surface, which answers a question of Rajala concerning minimal hypotheses under which a metric surface is quasiconformally equivalent to a Euclidean domain.

Combining these two works yields a canonical smoothing of such rough surfaces that also regularises their geometry at infinity.

Abstract:In this article we first show that any finite cover of the moduli space of closed Riemann surfaces of genus $g$ with $g\geq 2$ does not admit any Riemannian metric $ds^2$ of nonnegative scalar curvature such that $ds^2 \succ ds_{T}^2$ where $ds_{T}^2$ is the Teichm\"uller metric. Our second result is the proof that any cover $M$ of the moduli space $\mathbb{M}_{g}$ of a closed Riemann surface $S_{g}$ does not admit any complete Riemannian metric of uniformly positive scalar curvature in the quasi-isometry class of the Teichm\"uller metric, which implies a conjecture of Farb-Weinberger.

Abstract:We prove that Ahlfors-regular RCD spaces are uniformly rectifiable. The same is shown for Ahlfors regular boundaries of non-collapsed RCD spaces. As an application we deduce a type of quantitative differentiation for Lipschitz functions on these spaces.

Abstract:This article gives a new proof of the Gross--Kohnen--Zagier theorem for Shimura curves which exploits the $p$-adic uniformization of Cerednik--Drinfeld. The explicit description of CM points via this uniformization leads to an expression relating the Gross--Kohnen--Zagier generating series to the ordinary projection of the first derivative, with respect to a weight variable, of a $p$-adic family of positive definite ternary theta series.

Abstract:We prove that Riemann's minimal surfaces are the only properly embedded minimal tori with two planar ends in R-3/T, where T is the group generated by a nontrivial translation in R-3. In the proof of this result we find all the properly immersed minimal tori with two parallel embedded planar ends. The space of such surfaces is described by regular curves, parameterized by R, in the moduli space of conformal structures on a topological torus. Except in the case of Riemann's minimal surfaces, these curves contain points which yield minimal surfaces with vertical flux, and hence the surfaces are not embedded.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider and resolve a geometric problem by using μ(z)-homeomorphic theory, which is the generalization of quasiconformal mappings. A sufficient condition is given such that aC1-two-real-dimensional connected orientable manifold with almost positive definite metric can be made into a Riemann surface by the method of isothermal coordinates. The result obtained here is actually a generalization of Chern’s work in 1955.

Abstract:The classical uniformization theorem of Poincare and Koebe states that any simply connected surface with a Riemannian metric is conformally dilleomorphic to the Riemann sphere, or the complex plane or the unit disk. Using the work by Gu-Luo-Sun-Wu [9] on discrete conformal geometry for polyhedral surfaces, we show that the uniformization maps for simply connected Riemann surfaces are computable.

Abstract:We consider certain analytic correspondences on a Riemann surface, and show that they admit a weak form of expansion. In terms of their algebraic encoding by bisets, this translates to contraction of group elements along sequences arising from iterated lifting. As an application, we show that for every non-exceptional rational map on $\mathbb{P}^1$ with $4$ post-critical points, there is a finite collection of isotopy classes of curves into which every curve eventually lands under iterated lifting.
