Abstract:In this work, the authors provide closed forms and recurrence expressions for computing the $k$th power of the formal power series, some of them in terms of a determinant of some matrices. As a consequence, we obtain the reciprocal of the unit of any formal power series. We apply these results to the generalized Bernoulli numbers and Bernoulli numbers, we derive new closed-form expressions and some recursive relations of these famous numbers. In addition, we present several identities in determinant form. Using these results, an elegant generalization of a well known identity of Euler is presented. We also note some connections between the Stirling numbers of the second kind and the generalized Bernoulli numbers.

Efficient Calculations for Inverse of $k$-diagonal Circulant Matrices and Cyclic Banded Matrices

Abstract:$k$-diagonal circulant matrices and cyclic banded matrices are widely used in numerical simulations and signal processing of circular linear systems. Algorithms that directly involve or specify linear or quadratic complexity for the inverses of these two types of matrices are rare. We find that the inverse of a $k$-diagonal circulant matrix can be uniquely determined by a recursive formula, which can be derived within $O(k^3 \log n+k^4)$. Similarly for the inverse of a cyclic banded matrix, its inverse can be uniquely determined by a series of recursive formulas, with the initial terms of these recursions computable within $O(k^3 n+k^5)$. The additional costs for solving the complete inverses of these two types of matrices are $kn$ and $kn^2$. Our calculations enable rapid representation with most processes defined by explicit formulas. Additionally, most algorithms for inverting $k$-diagonal circulant matrices rely on the Fast Fourier Transform, which is not applicable to finite fields, while our algorithms can be applied to computations in finite fields.

Abstract:Recently, Shehata et al. [37] introduced the $_{r+1}R_{s,k}(B,C,z)$ matrix function and established some properties. The aim of this study established to devote and derive certain basic properties including analytic properties, recurrence matrix relations, differential properties, new integral representations, $k$-Beta transform, Laplace transform, fractional k-Fourier transform, fractional integral properties, the $k$-Riemann-Liouville and $k$-Weyl fractional integral and derivative operators an extended version of $_{r+1}R_{s,k}$ matrix function. We establish its relationships with other well known special matrix functions which have some particular cases in the context of three parametric Mittag-Leffer matrix function, $k$-Konhauser and $k$-Laguerre matrix polynomials. Finally, some special cases of the established formulas are also discussed.

Abstract:Let k be a nonzero complex number. In this paper we consider k-circulant matrices with arithmetic sequence and investigate the eigenvalues, determinants and Euclidean norms of such matrices. Also, for k = 1, the inverses of such (invertible) matrices are obtained (in a way different from the way presented in [1]), and the Moore-Penrose inverses of such (singular) matrices are derived.

Abstract:Let k and n be two coprime positive integers. In this paper, we show that any n√ón k -circulant operator matrix Ak,n with the first row A1,‚Ä¶,An‚ąąB(H) is unitarily equivalent to a generalized permutation operator matrix, an operator matrix that has at most one nonzero entry in each row and in each column. Abstract:Our aim in this paper is to initiate the study of exponent semigroups for rational matrices. We prove that every numerical semigroup is the exponent semigroup of some rational matrix. We also obtain lower bounds on the size of such matrices and discuss the related class of power-integral matrices.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly consider the arithmetic properties of the cyclotomic matrix $B_p(k)=\left[J_p(\chi^{ki},\chi^{kj})^{-1}\right]_{1\le i,j\le (p-1-k)/k}$, where $p$ is an odd prime, $1\le k<p-1$ is a divisor of $p-1$, $\chi$ is a generator of the group of all multiplicative character of the finite field $\mathbb{F}_p$ and $J_p(\chi^{ki},\chi^{kj})$ is Jacobi sum over $\mathbb{F}_p$. By using the Gross-Koblitz Formula and some $p$-adic tools, we first prove that $$p^{n-2}\det B_p(k)\equiv (-1)^{\frac{(n-1)(p+n-3)}{2}} \left(\frac{1}{k!}\right)^{n-2}\frac{1}{(2k)!}\pmod {p},$$ where $p-1=kn$. We next establish some theories on almost circulant matrices and then show that $$\det B_p(k)=(-1)^{\frac{(n-1)(p+n-1)}{2}}p^{-(n-1)}n^{n-2}a_p(k),$$ where $U_k$ is the set of all $k$-th roots of unity over $\mathbb{F}_p$, and $a_p(k)$ is the coefficient of $t$ of the minimal polynomial of the algebraic integer $\sum_{y\in U_k}(e^{2\pi{\bf i}y/p}-1)$. Also, for $k=1,2$ we obtain explicit expressions of $\det B_p(k)$.

Abstract:This paper, makes a research on relations between the cyclotomic classes, Gaussian periods and rcirculant matrices, and create a correspondence between Gaussian periods and rcirculant matrices. It paraphrases Gaussian periods with a series of special rcirculant matrices Hk, and shows that they have some similar properties, such as the linear property of multiplication etc. Furthermore, It researches Gaussian periods polynomials of Hk and their inverse symmetry property and obtains that all Hk have the same characteristics and the same eigenvalues which are independent of the choice of k amd r; and find the sufficient and necessary condition of Hk's having the inverse symmetry property. All these results are all meaningful.

Abstract:Finding the inverse of a matrix is an open problem especially when it comes to engineering problems due to their complexity and running time (cost) of matrix inversion algorithms. An optimum strategy to invert a matrix is, first, to reduce the matrix to a simple form, only then beginning a mathematical procedure. For symmetric matrices, the preferred simple form is tridiagonal. This makes tridiagonal matrices of high interest in applied mathematics and engineering problems. This study presents a time efficient, exact analytical approach for finding the inverse, decomposition, and solving linear systems of equations where symmetric circulant matrix appears. This matrix appears in many researches and it is different from ordinary tridiagonal matrices as there are two corner elements. For finding the inverse matrix, a set of matrices are introduced that any symmetric circulant matrix could be decomposed into them. After that, the exact analytical inverse of this set is found which gives the inverse of circulant matrix. Moreover, solving linear equations can be carried out using implemented decomposition where this matrix appears as a coefficient matrix. The methods principal strength is that it is as stable as any other direct methods (i.e., execute in a predictable number of operations). It is straightforward, understandable, solid as a rock and an exceptionally good psychological backup for those times when something is going wrong and you think it might be your linear equation solver. The downside of present method, and every other direct method, is the accumulation of round off errors.

Abstract:Reciprocal matrices are tridiagonal matrices $(a_{ij})_{i,j=1}^n$ with constant main diagonal and such that $a_{i,i+1}a_{i+1,i}=1$ for $i=1,\ldots,n-1$. For these matrices, criteria are established under which their Kippenhahn curves contain elliptical components or even consist completely of such. These criteria are in terms of system of homogeneous polynomial equations in variables $(\left|a_{j,j+1}\right|-\left|a_{j+1,j}\right|)^2$, and established via a unified approach across arbitrary dimensions. The results are illustrated, and specific numerical examples provided, for $n=7$ thus generalizing earlier work in the lower dimensional setting.
