Abstract:We compute explicit formulae for the constant terms and Fourier coefficients for Eisenstein series on $\operatorname{Sp}(4,\mathbb{R})$, in terms of zeta functions and Whittaker functions. We also develop a generalisation of Ramanujan sums to $\operatorname{Sp}(4,\mathbb{Z})$, which appears as coefficients in the Fourier expansion for the minimal Eisenstein series.
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to calculate the constant terms and Fourier coefficients of Eisenstein series on $\text{Sp}(4, \mathbb{R})$, and represent them in the form of zeta functions and Whittaker functions. Specifically, the author aims to provide an explicit formula for the Eisenstein series of $\text{Sp}(4)$, especially to describe the properties of these series in the classical language.
### Problem Background
Eisenstein series are very important components in the theory of automorphic forms, and they play a crucial role in spectral decomposition. Although Langlands and others have implicitly dealt with many related theories in their early work, in the applications of analytic number theory, explicit formulas are usually required. This need is especially reflected in the trace formula and the relative trace formula (such as the Kuznetsov type), and the applications of these formulas depend on their explicit expressions.
### Paper Goals
The main goals of this paper are to provide a very explicit formula for the Eisenstein series of $\text{Sp}(4)$, specifically:
1. **Calculate the constant terms and Fourier coefficients**: For the Eisenstein series on $\text{Sp}(4, \mathbb{R})$, give explicit formulas for its constant terms and Fourier coefficients.
2. **Generalize Ramanujan sums**: Generalize the classical Ramanujan sums to $\text{Sp}(4, \mathbb{Z})$, and use them as coefficients in the Fourier expansion of the minimal Eisenstein series.
3. **Introduce Whittaker functions**: Define Whittaker functions on $\text{Sp}(4)$ using Jacquet integrals, and use these functions to calculate the Fourier coefficients of the minimal Eisenstein series.
### Main Results
Through detailed calculations and derivations, the author has obtained the following main results:
- For the minimal Eisenstein series $E_0(g, \nu)$, a completely explicit formula for its Fourier coefficients is given, which involves zeta functions and Whittaker functions.
- The Ramanujan sums are generalized to $\text{Sp}(4, \mathbb{Z})$, and it is proved that these sums can be simplified to the classical Ramanujan sums in the degenerate cases.
- Formulas for the residue terms of Siegel - and Jacobi - type Eisenstein series are provided, and their constant terms and Fourier coefficients are calculated.
### Formula Example
For example, in the case of $m_1 = m_2 = 0$, the Fourier coefficient $E_{0,\chi_{0,0}}(g, \nu)$ of the minimal Eisenstein series $E_0(g, \nu)$ can be expressed as:
\[
E_{0,\chi_{0,0}}(g, \nu)=W_{id}(g, \nu, \chi_{0,0})+\frac{\zeta(2\nu_1 - 2\nu_2)}{\zeta(2\nu_1 - 2\nu_2 + 1)}W_{s_\alpha}(g, \nu, \chi_{0,0})+\frac{\zeta(2\nu_2 - \nu_1)}{\zeta(2\nu_2 - \nu_1 + 1)}W_{s_\beta}(g, \nu, \chi_{0,0})
\]
where $W_w(g, \nu, \chi)$ is Jacquet's Whittaker function, and $\zeta(s)$ is the Riemann zeta function.
Through these works, the author provides a deeper understanding of the Eisenstein series of $\text{Sp}(4)$.
