Evaluation and Strategic Thinking of Port Logistics Competitiveness in China : logistics infrastructure network ' perspectives

Abstract:With the rapid development of economy and trade, China foreign import and export trade has created a Sustained growth. China foreign import and export trade is 2972.76 billion dollars in 2010, grow 34.7% compared to the same period. Foreign trade sustained development has promoted the shipping and port industry rapid development, Followed by intensive state and enterprises investment in port infrastructure through large-scale projects, especially investment in port logistics infrastructure. After years of construction and development, China ports have entered into fierce competition, and risk control era. Evaluation and strategy selection of port logistics competitiveness are urgent problems to be solved. Port logistics competitiveness is the comprehensive performance of port logistics infrastructure ability, service ability, management ability and etc. logistics infrastructure network ability is the most direct expression of it. To evaluate main regional port logistics competitiveness, this paper analysis the factors which influence port logistics competitiveness and constructs the indicators for measuring them from logistics infrastructure network' perspectives. It applies factor analysis to measure and evaluate their competitiveness .The method offers an deep insight for state and enterprises on effective management in port logistics. Finally, the paper selects typical port city as research object, applies factor analysis method to evaluate the port logistics competitiveness. According to the empirical results, the paper put forwards China’s port logistics strategies on infrastructure planning, construction and development.
