Abstract:We propose a simple way to connect Gell-Mann constituent quark model and Feynman parton model for the nucleon. Thus, we can dynamically understand a large amount of data for high energy hadronic processes starting from the first QCD principle.

Abstract:In this paper scattering equivalences are used to simplify current operators in constituent quark models. The simplicity of the method is illustrated by applying it to a relativistic constituent quark model that fits the meson mass spectrum. This model requires a non-trivial constituent quark current operator to fit the pion form factor data. A model with a different confining interaction, that has the identical spectrum and can reproduce the measured pion form factor using only point-like constituent quark impulse currents is constructed. Both the original and transformed models are relativistic direct-interaction models with a light-front kinematic subgroup.

Abstract:Based on the determined bilocal field in the global color symmetry model, the effective quark-quark interaction is deduced explicitly in this letter. The result shows that, except for the normal one-pi and one-sigma exchange terms, the confinement terms with screening factors can automatically be obtained.

Abstract:Quark confinement and the genesis of the constituent quark model are examined in nonperturbative QCD in Coulomb gauge. We employ a self-consistent method to construct a quasiparticle basis and to determine the quasiparticle interaction. The results agree remarkably well with lattice computations. They also illustrate the mechanism by which confinement and constituent quarks emerge, provide support for the Gribov-Zwanziger confinement scenario, clarify several perplexing issues in the constituent quark model, and permit the construction of an improved model of low energy QCD.

Abstract:A scheme of combining the theory of many instantons and the effective Lagrangian of QCD is proposed to study the nucleon structure. With this approach, the vacuum structure of nonperturbative QCD is discussed and a reasonable potential of quark confinement is obtained. The calculated results of the constituent quark mass and the decay constant of pion agree with experimental data quite well.

Abstract:We propose an efficacious approach to derive the generalized parton distributions for the pion and proton, based upon prior knowledge of their respective parton distribution functions (PDFs). Our method leverages on integral representations of the electromagnetic form factors derived from the light-front holographic QCD (LFHQCD) formalism, coupled with PDFs computed from continuum Schwinger functional methods at the hadronic scale. Using these techniques, we calculate gravitational form factors and associated mass distributions for each hadron. Remarkably, our calculations yield results that closely match recent lattice QCD simulations conducted near the physical pion mass. This work not only deepens our understanding of hadronic structure but also highlights the efficacy of the LFHQCD approach in modeling fundamental properties of hadrons.

Minimal Ward-Takahashi Vertices and Light Cone Pion Distribution Amplitudes from the Gnd Quark Model

Abstract:The gauge-invariant, nonlocal, dynamical quark model is proved to generate the minimal vertices which satisfy the Ward-Takahashi identities. In the chiral limit, the momentum-dependent quark self-energy results in a flat-like form with some end point delta-funtions for the light-cone pion distribution amplitudes, similarly found in the Nambu Jona-Lasino model with constant constituent mass. The leading order nonzero pion and current quark masses corrections lead concave type asymptotic-like form modifications to twist-2 pion distribution amplitude with end point pillars and twist-3 tensor pion distribution amplitude above the flat-like form backgrounds. A by-product of our investigation shows that the variable u appearing in pion light-cone distribution amplitudes is just the standard Feynman parameter in the Feynman parameter integrals; also chiral perturbation works well for these amplitudes.
Glue in hadrons at medium resolution and the QCD instanton vacuum

Abstract:We discuss a general framework for the evaluation of the gluonic form factors in light hadrons at low momentum transfer, in the QCD instanton vacuum. At medium resolution of the order of the inverse mean instanton size, the glue is mostly localized in single or pair of pseudoparticles, and globally constrained by the fluctuations of their topological charges. These pseudoparticles trap light quarks, giving rise to emerging multiflavor 't Hooft interactions. We explicitly evaluate the gluonic scalar, pseudoscalar, energy-momentum tensor (EMT), and the leading C-odd and C-even three gluons hadronic form factors, at next to leading order (NLO) in the instanton density, including molecular clusters of like and unlike instantons. We use the results for the EMT to address the contribution of the gluons in Ji$^\prime$s mass and spin sum rules, at low resolution. When evolved, our results for the mass and spin composition of the nucleon, are shown to be in good agreement with the recently reported lattice results at higher resolution.

Perturbative and Non-Perturbative Interactions Between Heavy Quarks and Quark-Gluon Plasma Within a Unified Approach

Abstract:While perturbative QCD is sufficient for understanding the color, mass and energy dependences of parton energy loss and jet quenching at large transverse momentum in heavy-ion collisions, a simultaneous description of heavy flavor nuclear modification factor RAA and elliptic flow coefficient v2 at low and intermediate pT still remains a challenge due to the effects from non-perturbative interactions. In this work, we extend the linear Boltzmann transport model by implementing a generalized Cornell-type potential that incorporates both short-range Yukawa interaction and long-range color confining interaction between heavy quarks and the QGP medium. Combining our new approach for heavy-quark-QGP interaction with a (3+1)-dimensional hydrodynamic model CLVisc for the QGP evolution and a hybrid fragmentation-coalescence model for heavy quark hadronization, we obtain a satisfactory description of heavy meson RAA and v2 from low to intermediate to high pT observed at both RHIC and the LHC. By model-data-comparison, we obtain for the first time the in-medium heavy quark potential from open heavy flavor measurements; the result is in agreement with the lattice QCD calculation. Our study indicates that while jet quenching at high pT is dominated by perturbative QCD interactions, non-perturbative interactions are indispensible for understanding heavy flavor quenching and flow at low and intermediate pT.

Abstract:Extended quark distribution functions are presented obtained by fitting a large amount of experimental data of the l-A DIS process on the basis of an improved nuclear density model. The experimental data of l-A DIS processes with A >= 3 in the region 0.0010 <= x <= 0.9500 axe quite satisfactorily described by using the extended formulae. Our knowledge of the influence of nuclear matter on the quark distributions is deepened.

Abstract:The paper defends the notion that semantic tagging should be viewed as more than disambiguation between senses. Instead, semantic tagging should be a first step in the interpretation process by assigning each lexical item a representation of all of its systematically related senses, from which further semantic processing steps can derive discourse dependent interpretations. This leads to a new type of semantic lexicon (CoreLex) that supports underspecified semantic tagging through a design based on systematic polysemous classes and a class-based acquisition of lexical knowledge for specific domains.

Constituent quark model for nuclear stopping in high energy nuclear collisions

Abstract:We study the nuclear stopping in high energy nuclear collisions using the constituent quark model. It is assumed that wounded nucleons with different number of interacted quarks hadronize in different ways. The probabilities of having such wounded nucleons are evaluated for proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions. After examining our model in proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions and fixing the hadronization functions, it is extended to nucleus-nucleus collisions. It is used to calculate the rapidity distribution and the rapidity shift of final state protons in nucleus-nucleus collisions. The computed results are in good agreement with the experimental data on $^{32}\mbox{S} +\ ^{32}\mbox{S}$ at $E_{lab} = 200$ AGeV and $^{208}\mbox{Pb} +\ ^{208}\mbox{Pb}$ at $E_{lab} = 160$ AGeV. Theoretical predictions are also given for proton rapidity distribution in $^{197}\mbox{Au} +\ ^{197}\mbox{Au}$ at $\sqrt{s} = 200$ AGeV (BNL-RHIC). We predict that the nearly baryon free region will appear in the midrapidity region and the rapidity shift is $\langle \Delta y \rangle = 2.22$.

A Unified Approach to Hadron Phenomenology at Zero and Finite Temperatures in A Hard-Wall Ads/Qcd Model

Abstract:. We propose a unified approach to study meson, nucleon and Δ -baryon properties at zero and finite temperatures in the context of hard-wall AdS/QCD model. We first combine some previous works dealing with mesons and baryons separately, and introduce a new parameter ξ so that the model could give a universal description of spectrum and couplings of both sectors in a self-consistent way. All observables calculated numerically show reasonable agreement with experimental data. We then study these observables at nonzero temperature by modifying the AdS space-time into AdS-Schwartzchild space-time. Numerically solving the model, we find an interesting temperature dependence of the spectrum and the couplings. We also make a prediction on the finite-temperature decay width of some nucleon and Δ excited states.
Fully coupled functional equations for the quark sector of QCD

Abstract:We present a comprehensive study of the quark sector of 2+1 flavor QCD, based on a self-consistent treatment of the coupled system of Schwinger-Dyson equations for the quark propagator and the full quark-gluon vertex in the one-loop dressed approximation. The individual form factors of the quark-gluon vertex are expressed in a special tensor basis obtained from a set of gauge-invariant operators. The sole external ingredient used as input to our equations is the Landau gauge gluon propagator with 2+1 dynamical quark flavors, obtained from studies with Schwinger-Dyson equations, the functional renormalization group approach, and large volume lattice simulations. The appropriate renormalization procedure required in order to self-consistently accommodate external inputs stemming from other functional approaches or the lattice is discussed in detail, and the value of the gauge coupling is accurately determined at two vastly separated renormalization group scales. Our analysis establishes a clear hierarchy among the vertex form factors. We identify only three dominant ones, in agreement with previous results. The components of the quark propagator obtained from our approach are in excellent agreement with the results from Schwinger-Dyson equations, the functional renormalization group, and lattice QCD simulation, a simple benchmark observable being the chiral condensate in the chiral limit, which is computed as (245 MeV)3. The present approach has a wide range of applications, including the self-consistent computation of bound-state properties and finite temperature and density physics, which are briefly discussed.

Abstract:We have systematically studied the connection (correspondence) between hadrons and their quark-component nuclear modification factors and the flavor (mass) ordering at both parton and hadron levels in nucleus-nucleus collisions at energies available at the CERN Large Hadron Collider, using the paciae model. It turns out that the correspondence and the mass ordering generally hold, irrespective of the rapidity, centrality, reaction energy, and collision system size. Abstract:The quark mass function is computed both by solving the quark propagator Dyson-Schwinger equation and from lattice simulations implementing overlap and domain-wall fermion actions for valence and sea quarks, respectively. The results are examined and are seen to produce a very congruent picture, showing a remarkable agreement for the explored range of current-quark masses. The effective running interaction is based on a process-independent charge rooted on a particular truncation of the Dyson-Schwinger equations in the gauge sector, establishing a link from there to the quark sector and inspiring a correlation between the emergence of gluon and hadron masses.

Low-lying odd-parity nucleon resonances as quark-model like states

Abstract:Recent lattice QCD results for the low-lying odd-parity excitations of the nucleon near the $N^{*}(1535)$ and $N^{*}(1650)$ resonance positions have revealed that the lattice QCD states have magnetic moments consistent with predictions from a constituent-quark-model. Using Hamiltonian Effective Field Theory (HEFT) to describe pion-nucleon scattering in the $I(J^{P}) = \frac{1}{2}(\frac{1}{2}^{-})$ channel, we represent these two quark-model like states as two single-particle bare basis states, dressed and mixed by meson-baryon scattering channels. By constraining the free parameters of the Hamiltonian with $S_{11}$ pion-nucleon scattering data, we perform the first calculation of the finite-volume spectrum using two bare-baryon basis states. By comparing this spectrum to contemporary lattice QCD results at three lattice volumes, we analyse the eigenvectors of the Hamiltonian to gain insight into the structure and composition of these two low-lying resonances. We find that an interpretation of the two low-lying nucleon resonances as quark-model like states dressed by meson-baryon interactions is consistent with both the $S_{11}$ scattering data and lattice QCD. We introduce a novel HEFT formalism for estimating scattering-state contaminations in lattice QCD correlation functions constructed with standard three-quark operators. Not only are historical lattice QCD results described with excellent accuracy, but correlation functions with large scattering-state contaminations are identified.

A Bridge from Euclidean Nonperturbative Approach to Minkowskian Distribution Functions

Abstract:We give out a simple way to connect the parton distribution functions definedin Minkowskian space and the nonperturbative QCD methods grounded in Euclideanspace (e.g., lattice QCD(LQCD), Dyson-Schwinger (DS) equations, functionalrenormalization group (FRG) approach) in this work. We combine the MIT bagmodel with the DS equation approach to calculate the longitudinal distributionfunction, transverse distribution function and scalar distribution function ina proton at renormalization point μ = 2 GeV. We look then insightinto the dressed effects on the axial, tensor and scalar charges in a nucleonto some extent. This method can be regard as a new bridge between the Euclideannon-perturbative approaches and the Minkowskian space physics.
Nucleon structure functions in a constituent quark scenario

Abstract:Using a simple picture of the constituent quark as a composite system of point-like partons, we construct the polarized parton distributions by a convolution between constituent quark momentum distributions and constituent quark structure functions. We achieve good agreement with experiments in the unpolarized as well as in the polarized case, though a good description of the recent polarized neutron data requires the introduction of one more parameter. When our results are compared with similar calculations using non-composite constituent quarks, the accord with the experiments of the present scheme is impressive. We conclude that DIS data are consistent with a low energy scenario dominated by composite constituents of the nucleon.

Abstract:In this work, a three-quark picture is constructed using a bottom-up approach for baryons in light-front quark model. The shape parameters, which characterize the momentum distribution inside a baryon, are determined with the help of the pole residue of the baryon. The relation between the three-quark picture and the diquark picture is clarified. When building the model, we find that Lorentz boost plays a crucial role, and the bottom-up modeling approach can be generalized to multiquark states. Based on this, a unified theoretical framework for describing multiquark states may be established. As a by-product of model construction, we can easily obtain a newly improved definition of baryon interpolating current. The hadron interpolating currents are the starting point of Lattice QCD and QCD sum rules, and therefore are of great importance.
