Abstract:We describe the S 1 -action on the Quot-scheme Quot(E n ) associated to the trivial bundle E n = CP 1 × C n . In particlular, the topology of the S 1 -fixed-point components in Quot(E n ) and the S 1 -weights of the normal bundle of these components are worked out. Mirror Principle, as developed by three of the current authors in the series of work [L-L-Y1, I, II, III, IV], is a method for studying certain intersection numbers on a stable map moduli space. As an application, in Mirror Principle III, Sec 5.4, an outline was given in the case of genus zero with target a flag manifold. The results on S 1 fixed points in this paper are used here to do explicit Mirror Principle computations in the case of Grassmannian manifolds. In fact, Mirror Principle computations involve only a certain distinguished subcollection of the S 1 -fixed-point components. These components are identified and are labelled by Young tableaus. The S 1 -equivariant Euler class eS1 of the normal bundle to these components is computed. A diagrammatic rule that allows one to write down eS1 directly from the Young tableau is given. From this, the aforementioned intersection numbers on the moduli space of stable maps can be worked out. Two examples are given to illustrate our method. Using our method, the A-model for Calabi-Yau complete intersections in a Grassmannian manifold can now also be computed explicitly. This work is motivated by the intention to provide further details of mirror principle and to understand the relation of mirror principle to physical theory. Some related questions are listed for further study.

Abstract:Given any genus-two, hyperbolic, fibered knot in $S^3$ with nonzero fractional Dehn twist coefficient, we show that its pseudo-Anosov representative has a fixed point. Combined with recent work of Baldwin--Hu--Sivek, this proves that knot Floer homology detects the cinquefoil knot $T(2,5)$, and that the cinquefoil is the only genus-two L-space knot in $S^3$. Our results have applications to Floer homology of cyclic branched covers over knots in $S^3$, to $\mathit{SU}(2)$-abelian Dehn surgeries, and to Khovanov and annular Khovanov homology. Along the way to proving our fixed point result, we describe a small list of train tracks carrying all pseudo-Anosov homeomorphisms in most strata on the punctured disk. As a consequence, we find a canonical track $\tau$ carrying all pseudo-Anosov homeomorphisms in a particular stratum $\mathcal{Q}_0$ on the genus-two surface, and describe every fixed-point-free pseudo-Anosov homeomorphism in $\mathcal{Q}_0$.

Abstract:Associated to any unit interval graph, Syu Kato introduced a variety which gives (via the geometric Satake correspondence) a graded $GL_m$ representation whose character is the chromatic quasisymmetric polynomial of the graph. In this short note, we reprove Kato's result by analyzing the fixed points of his varieties.

Abstract:We show that for singular hypersurfaces, a version of their genus-zero Gromov-Witten theory may be described in terms of a direct limit of fixed point Floer cohomology groups, a construction which is more amenable to computation and easier to define than the technical foundations of the enumerative geometry of more general singular symplectic spaces. As an illustration, we give a direct proof of closed-string mirror symmetry for nodal curves of genus greater than or equal to 2, using calculations of (co)product structures on fixed point Floer homology of Dehn twists due to Yao-Zhao.

Bordism and resolution of singularities

Abstract:We adapt algorithms for resolving the singularities of complex algebraic varieties to prove that the natural map of homology theories from complex bordism to the bordism theory of complex derived orbifolds splits. In equivariant stable homotopy theory, our techniques yield a splitting of homology theories for the map from bordism to the equivariant bordism theory of a finite group $\Gamma$, given by assigning to a manifold its product with $\Gamma$. In symplectic topology, and using recent work of Abouzaid-McLean-Smith and Hirshi-Swaminathan, we conclude that one can define complex cobordism-valued Gromov-Witten invariant for arbirary (closed) symplectic manifolds. We apply our results to constrain the topology of the space of Hamiltonian fibrations over $S^2$. The methods we develop apply to normally complex orbifolds, and will hence lead to applications in symplectic topology that rely on moduli spaces of holomorphic curves with Lagrangian boundary conditions.

Abstract:We determine the 0-th Hochschild homology of the associative algebra of simplicial cochains valued in a PID: it consists of the ``finite-type" homotopy invariants of free loops, equivalently finite-type class functions on the fundamental group. One major motivation for this calculation is joint work in progress aiming to geometrically construct invariants of links in the 3-sphere as well as other $3$-manifolds, and to realize Milnor's linking numbers as evaluations of 0-th Hochschild homology classes.

Geometry of the fixed points loci and discretization of Springer fibers in classical types

Abstract:Consider a simple algebraic group $G$ of classical type and its Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. Let $(e,h,f) \subset \mathfrak{g}$ be an $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-triple and $Q_e= C_G(e,h,f)$. The torus $T_e$ that comes from the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-triple acts on the Springer fiber $\mathcal{B}_e$. Let $\mathcal{B}_e^{gr}$ denote the fixed point loci of $\mathcal{B}_e$ under this torus action. Our main geometric result is that when the partition of $e$ has up to $4$ rows, the derived category $D^b(\mathcal{B}_e^{gr})$ admits a complete exceptional collection that is compatible with the $Q_e$-action. The objects in this collection give us a finite set $Y_e$ that is naturally equipped with a $Q_e$-centrally extended structure. We prove that the set $Y_e$ constructed in this way coincides with a finite set that has appeared in various contexts in representation theory. For example, a direct summand $J_c$ of the asymptotic Hecke algebra is isomorphic to $K_0(Sh^{Q_e}(Y_e\times Y_e)$. The left cells in the two-sided cell $c$ corresponding to the adjoint orbit of $e$ are in bijection with the $Q_e$-orbits in $Y_e$. Our main numerical result is an algorithm to compute the multiplicities of the $Q_e$-centrally extended orbits that appear in $Y_e$.

Abstract:Abstract We give a formula for the geometric fixed‐points spectrum of the real topological cyclic homology of a bounded below ring spectrum, as an equaliser of two maps between tensor products of modules over the norm. We then use this formula to carry out computations in the fundamental examples of spherical group rings, perfect ‐algebras and 2‐torsion‐free rings with perfect modulo 2 reduction. Our calculations agree with the normal L‐theory spectrum in the cases where the latter is known, as conjectured by Nikolaus.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a semisimple, simply connected, algebraic group over an algebraically closed field $k$ with Lie algebra $\frak g$. We study the spaces of parahoric subalgebras of a given type containing a fixed nil-elliptic element of $\frak g\otimes k((\pi))$, i.e. fixed point varieties on affine flag manifolds. We define a natural class of $k^*$-actions on affine flag manifolds, generalizing actions introduced by Lusztig and Smelt. We formulate a condition on a pair $(N,f)$ consisting of $N\in\frak{g}\otimes k((\pi))$ and a $k^*$-action $f$ of the specified type which guarantees that $f$ induces an action on the variety of parahoric subalgebras containing $N$. For the special linear and symplectic groups, we characterize all regular semisimple and nil-elliptic conjugacy classes containing a representative whose fixed point variety admits such an action. We then use these actions to find simple formulas for the Euler characteristics of those varieties for which the $k^*$-fixed points are finite. We also obtain a combinatorial description of the Euler characteristics of the spaces of parabolic subalgebras containing a given element of certain nilpotent conjugacy classes of $\frak g$.

Abstract:We consider selfmaps of hyperbolic surfaces and graphs, and give some bounds involving the rank and the index of fixed point classes. One consequence is a rank bound for fixed subgroups of surface group endomorphisms, similar to the Bestvina‐Handel bound (originally known as the Scott conjecture) for free group automorphisms. When the selfmap is homotopic to a homeomorphism, we rely on Thurston’s classification of surface automorphisms. When the surface has boundary, we work with its spine, and Bestvina‐Handel’s theory of train track maps on graphs plays an essential role. It turns out that the control of empty fixed point classes (for surface automorphisms) presents a special challenge. For this purpose, an alternative definition of fixed point class is introduced, which avoids covering spaces hence is more convenient for geometric discussions. 55M20, 57M07; 20F34, 57M15, 57N05

Abstract:This is a study of fusion ring automorphisms leaving only the trivial element fixed. We prove that a variety of classical results on fixed-point-free automorphisms of finite groups are true in the generality of fusion rings. As a result, we show there are $8$ Grothendieck equivalence classes of fusion categories of rank less than $9$ with a fixed-point-free fusion automorphism of prime order, generalizing existing results about modular fusion categories of odd dimension.

Abstract:We show that, if $\Gamma$ is a point group of $\mathbb{R}^{k+1}$ of order two for some $k\geq 2$ and $\mathcal S$ is a $k$-pseudomanifold which has a free automorphism of order two, then either $\mathcal S$ has a $\Gamma$-symmetric infinitesimally rigid realisation in $\mathbb{R}^{k+1}$ or $k=2$ and $\Gamma$ is a half-turn rotation group.This verifies a conjecture made by Klee, Nevo, Novik and Zhang for the case when $\Gamma$ is a point-inversion group. Our result implies that Stanley's lower bound theorem for centrally symmetric polytopes extends to pseudomanifolds with a free simplicial involution, thus verifying (the inequality part) of another conjecture of Klee, Nevo, Novik and Zheng. Both results actually apply to a much larger class of simplicial complexes, namely the circuits of the simplicial matroid. The proof of our rigidity result adapts earlier ideas of Fogelsanger to the setting of symmetric simplicial complexes.

Fixed point Floer cohomology of disjoint Dehn twists on a w+-monotone manifold with rational symplectic form

Abstract:We give an explicit description of the Floer cohomology of a family of Dehn twists about disjoint Lagrangian spheres in a w+ - monotone rational symplectic manifold. As a byproduct of our framework, in a monotone symplectic manifold we are able to define a class in the fixed point Floer cohomology of a Dehn twist by counting half strips bound to the given Lagrangian sphere and prove it must vanish. In subsequent work we plan on using this vanishing result to give a new geometric proof of Seidel's long exact sequence.

Abstract:In a series of previous papers, we initiated a systematic study of semihypergroups and had a thorough discussion on certain analytic and algebraic aspects associated to this class of objects. In particular, we introduced the notion of semihypergroup actions on a general topological space and discussed different continuity, equivalence and natural fixed point properties of the same in [6]. Now in this article, we consider different kinds of representations of a semihypergroup on compact convex subsets of a locally convex space and explore equivalence relations between certain fixed-point properties of such representations and amenability of the space of almost periodic functions. Finally, we investigate how far these equivalence relations can be strengthened when in particular, we consider representations on the dual of a Banach space.

Abstract:We bound the number of fixed points of an automorphism of a real curve in terms of the genus and the number of connected components of the real part of the curve. Using this bound, we derive some consequences concerning the maximum order of an automorphism and the maximum order of an abelian group of automorphisms of a real curve. We also bound the full group of automorphisms of a real hyperelliptic curve.

Abstract:Česnavičius-Koshikawa constructed the A_inf-cohomology theory for semistable formal schemes over the ring of integers of C_p. We prove the p-adic Cartier isomorphism between the A_inf-cohomology and de Rham-Witt complexes for semistable formal schemes, extending the result of Bhatt-Morrow-Scholze in the smooth case.

Abstract:We continue our study of cyclic orbifolds of lattice vertex operator algebras and their full automorphism groups. We consider some special isometry $g\in O(L)$ such that $g^i$ is fixed point free on $L$ for any $1\leq i\leq |g|-1$. We show that when $L_2=\emptyset$ and $g^i$ is fixed point free on $L$ for any $1\leq i\leq |g|-1$, $V_L^{\hat{g}}$ has extra automorphisms implies either (1) the order of $g$ is a prime or (2) $L$ is isometric to the Leech lattice or some coinvariant sublattices of the Leech lattice.

Abstract:If two conical symplectic resolutions $X\to X_0$ and $X^!\to X_0^!$ are symplectic dual, the cohomology ring $H^*(X)$ and the coordinate ring of $\mathbb{C}^*$-fixed points in $X_0^!$ are expected to be isomorphic as graded algebras. This statement is called Hikita conjecture and it is known that the conjecture holds for some cases. In this paper, we deal with the cohomology of framed moduli spaces over the projective plane and the coordinate ring of $\mathbb{C}^*$- fixed points of $\mathbb{C}^{2n}/((\mathbb{Z}/r\mathbb{Z})\wr S_n) $ and show that these are isomorphic as graded vector spaces.
