Abstract:We prove that every proper connective DG-algebra $A$ admits a geometric realization (as defined by Orlov) by a smooth projective scheme with a full exceptional collection. As a corollary we obtain that $A$ is quasi-isomorphic to a finite dimensional DG-algebra and in the smooth case we compute the noncommutative Chow motive of $A$. We go on to analyse the relationship between smoothness and regularity in more detail as well as commenting on smoothness of the degree zero cohomology for smooth proper connective DG-algebras.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The main problem that this paper attempts to solve is about the geometric realization of **connected, proper differential graded algebras (abbreviated as dg - algebras)**. Specifically, the authors show that every proper connected dg - algebra \(A\) can be realized, in the way defined by Orlov, as a smooth projective scheme with a full exceptional collection. If \(A\) is also smooth, they also calculate the non - commutative Chow motive of \(A\). In addition, the paper also explores the relationship between smoothness and regularity, and comments on the smoothness problem of the zero - degree cohomology for smooth, proper connected dg - algebras. ### Main contributions 1. **Existence of geometric realization**: - It is proved that every proper connected dg - algebra \(A\) can be embedded into the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves of some smooth projective scheme \(X\) with a full exceptional collection, that is, there exists a fully faithful functor \(\text{Perf}(A)\hookrightarrow D^{b}(\text{coh}(X))\). - This result answers the question raised by Orlov in [Orl16, Question 4.4], especially in the connected case. 2. **Relationship between smoothness and regularity**: - It is proved that under reasonable conditions, smoothness implies regularity (Proposition 5.2), which extends the work of Lunts [Lun10]. - A criterion for a proper connected dg - algebra to be smooth is given (Theorem 5.8). - The case where the zero - degree cohomology \(H^{0}(A)\) is not smooth is discussed. 3. **Non - commutative Chow motives**: - For a smooth, proper connected dg - algebra \(A\), its non - commutative Chow motive is a direct sum of points (Corollary 4.3), which means that all additive invariants are completely determined by the number of simple modules of \(H^{0}(A)\). - A direct proof is provided, relaxing the assumption that the base field \(k\) is algebraically closed (Theorem 4.6). ### Technical details - **A∞ - structures**: The paper uses the tools of A∞ - algebras and A∞ - categories, especially by constructing minimal models to deal with connected, proper dg - algebras. - **Grothendieck groups**: It is proved that the Grothendieck group of a proper connected dg - algebra is finitely free (Lemma 4.4). - **K - theory**: Using techniques in K - theory, the isomorphism of certain quotient maps at the \(K_{0}\) level is proved (Lemma 4.5). ### Application examples - Some simple examples are provided to show the structural characteristics of smooth, proper connected dg - algebras, for example, they may not be derived Morita - equivalent to finite - dimensional algebras (Example 4.8 and Example 4.9). - Some examples of smooth, proper connected dg - algebras without a full exceptional collection are constructed by silt mutation (Example 4.10). In general, this paper makes important contributions to the geometric realization of connected, proper dg - algebras and their related properties, providing a new perspective for understanding the non - commutative geometry of these algebras.
